The traditional marriage ceremony of Nollywood actor, Ime Bishop Umoh a.k.a Okon Lagos to his sweetheart Idara took place on Thursday 17th October 2013 at Christ The King School, Barracks Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. This event was well attended by a beehive of fans, friends, family members and colleagues. During this event, this particular guest broke into the crowd and was trying to take pictures of Okon Lagos and his wife with a Nokia phone without camera! The traditional marriage ceremony of Nollywood actor, Ime Bishop Umoh a.k.a Okon Lagos took place yesterday Thursday 17th October 2013 at Christ The King School, Barracks Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The hilarious actor legalized his marriage to former Miss Idara Saviour amidst fans, friends, family members and colleagues. Ime 'Bishop' Umoh a.k.a Okon Lagos needs no introduction. Okay, what's your own name for him? Cafenol? Iyammi? Ekpo ammia mkpaha? Emotional Asthma? Okon Lagos? Naiya delta? What? Take 'kova' oo! Anyway, he is our own and he is Nollywood's most celebrated and talented actor who has won many fans and accolades through his hilarious role in the Uduak Isong blockbuster 'Okon Goes to School'.

The 'Koko' is that Ime 'Bishop' Umoh is set to marry his fiancée, Idara Saviour (pictured above) this September!

The Traditional Marriage ceremony will take place on Thursday 12th September 2013 while the church wedding will be held at Insight Bible Church, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Saturday 14th September, 2013. Congratulations to them!

Pop icon Justin Timberlake is billed to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards later this month. This year's edition (being the 30th installment) will be on Sunday August 25 2013 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It will be the first held in New York City not to use a venue within the borough of Manhattan.

Nominations for MTV Video Music Awards were announced on July 17, 2013. Leading the nominees were Justin Timberlake and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis with six, followed by Pharrell Williams with five.

Justin is also tipped to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at the Aug. 25 awards!

Timberlake's nominations include video of the year, best male video and pop video for "Mirrors." His comeback album, "The 20/20 Experience," is the year's best-selling album. He'll release "The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2" on Sept. 30.

Performing at this event will be Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke.

Reports say Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new five-year deal with Real Madrid worth £75million which will keep him at the club for the rest of his career. C. Ronaldo was linked to a return to Manchester United should Gareth Bale complete his move to Madrid, but it looks like Ronaldo is set to play with Bale in what looks to be the most feared attack in football history.

This new five year deal will keep Ronaldo at Madrid till he's 33 and by signing this deal, Ronaldo will earn £900,000 more than Lionel Messi, making him the highest paid player in Spain. Having paid £80 million for Ronaldo in 2009, Madrid would not want to let go of him easy and they have made their intentions clear with this new contract.

This means it will be a delight to watch Ronaldo and Garetth Bale play together in opposite wings. With Ronaldo on the left and Bale on the right, defenders in the La Liga league are up for a tough time as fans of El Clasico are waiting impatiently for the biggest match in the world.

Meanwhile, Angel Di Maria could greatly be affected by this news! With Ronaldo and Bale playing together, Di Maria would need to evaluate his options if Bale were to take his place on the Madrid right wing.

It was a big tragedy in the early hours of yesterday in Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State when a vehicle traveling to one of the local governments of the state rammed into a group of children, killing 14 of them and injuring 10 others. Investigation by LEADERSHIP Sunday revealed that the youths were members of Boys and Girls Brigade from three churches within the locality, Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Assembly of God Church and Baptist Church all in Barkin-Ladi local government area of the state.

A source who spoke to our correspondent disclosed that the children who were about 40 in number between the ages of 12 to 16 years and were out as early as 7 am for their routine jogging exercise to keep fit and on their way back, precisely at TudunMaza, a wagon skidded off the road and rammed into them killing 14 of them on the spot.

It was also gathered that immediately the incident happened, both the driver and the owner of the maize and Irish Potatoes the vehicle was conveying from Bokkos to Bukuru market in Jos South Local Government jumped out of the Vehicle and ran away to avoid being lynched by people within the scene of the incident.

An eyewitness who gave his name as Dung Elvis said it was like magic to the people of the community who rushed in their large numbers to the scene of the unfortunate incident. It was wailing and crying all through as the remains of those killed were being conveyed to the nearby health centre.

Our correspondent who visited the locality gathered that there was a lull in the community, as people were seen in groups discussing the pathetic incident while the three affected churches immediately suspended their weekend programmes and meetings to mourn the children who also doubled as security boys to the churches every Sunday.

President Robert Mugabe's ZANU-PF party has claimed a landslide victory in Zimbabwe's elections, but its rival, Prime Minster Morgan Tsvangirai's Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), said there had been "monumental fraud".

Yesterday's poll had been peaceful across the country, but the early claims from the competing parties heralded an acrimonious dispute over the outcome and raised fears of a repeat of violence that marred a 2008 election.

Releasing unofficial results early in Zimbabwe is illegal, and police had said yesterday that they would arrest anybody who made premature claims about the result. Election authorities were due to announce results on Monday.

But a senior source in Mugabe's ZANU-PF party, who asked not to be named, said the outcome was already clear.

"We've taken this election. We've buried the MDC. We never had any doubt that we were going to win," the source told Reuters by phone on Thursday.

The governor of Akwa Ibom State , His Excellency Chief Godswill Akpabio administered oath of office to the newly sworn-in Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel at the Banquet Hall of Governor's office yesterday in Uyo. Mr. Udom who replaces Obong Umana Okon Umana hails from Onna Local Government Area of Eket Senatorial District, Akwa Ibom State.

The new SSG, a great Ibibio son until his appointment was an Executive Director on the board of Zenith Bank Plc from December 2006. Mr. Emmanuel also doubled as Non-Executive Director, Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) from 2008 to date and Director, Nigerian Interbank Settlement Systems (NIBBS) from 2009, Non-Executive Director, Zenith Bank, United Kingdom; Zenith Bank – Gambia; Zenith Bank – Sierra Leone; Zenith Insurance; Zenith Pensions and Custodian; Zenith Securities; Zenith Trustees and Zenith Registrars.

A corporate strategist and an experienced private sector player, Mr. Emmanuel has wide experience in various blue-chip organizations such as Price Water House and Diamond Bank plc.

Thirty-one migrants, including nine women, drowned off the coast of Libya during an attempted crossing to Italy according to survivors who managed to complete the journey, Italian media reported Sunday.

A dinghy carrying 53 migrants capsized on Friday evening, and witnesses said 31 of those who had been thrown off it drowned in the accident.

The twenty-two survivors, who come from Nigeria, Gambia, Benin and Senegal, said the dinghy had capsized after three days at sea. They were rescued by a passing merchant ship and taken to Lampedusa island, the reports said.

As the number of boat immigrants attempting the crossing soars in the good weather, rescuers saved another 450 people trying to reach Italy on Friday and Saturday, increasing tensions at the already crowded refugee centre on the island.

Another 92 migrants — including 16 women — were rescued Sunday morning in the Strait of Sicily after their boat got into difficulty.

Since 1999, more than 200,000 people have arrived on Lampedusa — which is closer to North Africa than Italy — making it, along with the Greece-Turkey border, one of the biggest gateways for undocumented migrants and refugees into the European Union.

In nearby Malta, 112 migrants were saved from their drifting dinghy overnight Saturday in a 13-hour operation during which eight of those rescued were airlifted to hospital by helicopter for urgent medical attention.

That group — which included 20 women and four children — was suffering from exhaustion, dehydration and sun stroke, a Maltese army spokesman told AFP.

The latest arrivals bring the number of migrants to land on Malta in July to 880 — an all-time record for a month — while 1,200 people in total have landed on the island so far this year. — AFP
