Politics#ReleaseOduduUkpana: Over 50, 000 Akwa Ibom Youths Set For Protest by manpo2k(op): 12:41am On Dec 11, 2014
Over 50, 000 Akwa Ibom youths from all spheres of life are reportedly getting set to stage a peaceful protest in Uyo for the release of Odudu Ukpanah - the only son of Late Albert Ukpanah who was murdered in an alleged politically-motivated killing back in March 2014 at his home in Abak LGA of Akwa Ibom State.

A release made available to us by the daughter of the deceased and CEO of Pushies Makeover, Ofonime Ukpanah reads...

We have waited patiently for Akwa Ibom State government to produce evidence and witnesses to support the murder charge against our only brother that he killed our father for Two Million Naira. He has been in prison for 7months. Our father was murdered on the 12th of March 2014 and my brother was in prison 3days after the burial which was on the 24th of May 2014. Our sick mother who has Cancer, Stroke and Parkinson has been just informed and is so broken. I bet as a mother no one wants to hear about what she is going through. She just lost a husband and can't loose an only son. We want our only brother for Christmas. The trauma about our dad's murder has done much more that we can handle. #‎releaseOduduUkpanah‬

Ofonime also wrote on Facebook...

I was proudly an Akwaibomite and proud to say Akwaibom ADOOK everywhere in the world till my dad Albert Ukpanah was murdered for speaking the truth. Now I know what others passed through. People can't speak the truth anymore cause of the fear of being murdered but I still stand for the truth like my DAD...

As another "Arab Spring" looms, one cannot help but wonder why Odudu Ukpanah is still in detention till now without trial or a release. Akwa Ibom youths therefore call on the government of Akwa Ibom State to speak up on this matter and take action immediately!

Former SSG, Obong Umana Okon Umana has reportedly clinched the ticket in Akwa Ibom State. Franklyn Isong, editor-in-chief of Radar Newspapers on his Facebook wall wrote..

All Progressive Congress Governorship result for Akwa Ibom state

1) Umana Okon Umana scored 2444;
2) Sen John Akpanudoedehe scored 6;
3) Hon Emmanuel Ekpenyong scored 2; and 4) Captain Sam Ewang scored 1.

Umana was declared winner of the poll. He is now the APC flag bearer for the 2015 governorship election in the state. The primaries was conducted peacefully at Uyo township stadium with option "A" 4 after all aspirants undertook to remain in the party no matter the outcome of the poll.

However, feelers have it that one of the defeated aspirants may decamp to PDP in order to work with Gov Godswill Akpabio and Mr. Udom Emmanuel to frustrate Umana and APC from winning the general election in February 2015.

However, primaries in Cross River State has reportedly been postponed. For more results, click http://www.wetinhappen.com.ng/apc-governorship-ticket-list-winners/

Science/TechnologyBye-bye Facebook, Welcome Tsū by manpo2k(op): 8:52pm On Dec 03, 2014
What is tsū?
tsu.co is a community for authentic engagement. Please treat it respectfully. Users who spam or post inappropriate content will be banned in order to preserve the community. tsū is a free social network and payment platform that shares up to 90% of revenues with its users.
(tsū is pronounced ‘Sue’)

How is tsū different?

1. Ownership - We believe in real ownership, which only exists when users own the rights to their content and the economics that come with it. Users should be compensated for their likeness, image and content. It’s simple and it’s the right thing to do.

2. Access - We share social revenues with everyone, for any type of content, size of network or level of influence. Using tsū requires nothing more than what you already do on other social media platforms today.

3. Empowerment - Our model is global, scalable, and designed to empower the user. For the first time every user can be a content creator earning royalties in perpetuity.

How does tsῡ work?

tsū shares social revenues that come from third party ads, sponsorships and partnerships. Once economics are created, tsū receives 10% to maintain the platform. Half of the remaining earned revenue is paid to the user who created the content. The other half of the remaining earned revenue is distributed to the user’s network Family Tree. Users on tsū monetize their content and network in perpetuity, which continues to grow alongside the community.

How do I join tsῡ?

New members can only join tsū by user invitation (Join now! Click https://www.tsu.co/aniekanekah) Our invite-only system enables us to track and distribute network value to the users who help tsū grow.

The content I share has value?

Yes, as a user on social media platforms, your content and interactions are valuable. On tsū, you will get paid for your content. Half of your earned revenue is in the form of royalties generated by the content you post. Sharing content on tsū is as simple as any other social platform. Sign up, post your status, photos, or videos to your page, and engage with your friends as little or as often as you’d like.

My network has value?

Yes, your network is also valuable. The other half of your earned revenue on tsū comes from the growth and activity of your personal social network. One third of all users’ content-generated revenue is passed up to the person that directly invited them to join tsū. A third of the remaining shared revenue will then go to the person that invited that user, and so on. The generations of users in your personal network are a part of what we call your Family Tree. To learn more about the algorithm that tsu uses to distribute network value, Click https://www.tsu.co/aniekanekah

What is the tsū Algorithm?

Tsū’s algorithm automatically tracks, measures, and distributes revenue to the appropriate user and their Family Tree. At a high level, 90% of revenues are distributed to users. To maintain the platform, tsū receives 10%. To see how this breaks down, let’s take a look at 4 users, all with varying start dates on tsū:

User A invites user B, who invites user C, who invites user D

Part 1
- $100 of earned revenue is generated based on the content user D shared (photos, videos, status updates, etc.)

Part 2
- 90% of earned revenue go to the users. In this case, $90 of the $100 is shared with all the users.
- tsū takes 10% of the $100 for platform fees. In this case $10.

Part 3
- User D, the original content creator takes 50% of the $90. In this case, $45.
- User C gets 33.3% (1/3) of the original $90 generated. In this case, $29.70
- User B gets 11.1% (1/3 of 1/3 = 1/9) of the original $90 generated. In this case $9.99
- User A gets 3.70% (1/3 of 1/3 of 1/3 = 1/27) of the original $90 generated. In this case $3.33
- This is what we call the rule of infinite thirds

Romance10 Things Women Who Find Mr. Right Are Doing Differently by manpo2k(op): 8:13pm On Dec 03, 2014
For most women, finding the right guy after 50 can be frustrating and tiresome. I’ve found the women who get out there and have fun dating and finding quality men have had these 10 traits in common that I want to share with you today.

1. Women who are happily dating feel really great about themselves. They lead active lives that make them exciting, passionate and interesting to men. They’ll make space for men and the lives they’ll lead together without giving themselves and all the activities in their own lives up just to please men.

2. They know how to get into their girl-girlness, their true feminine power, which has men jumping over themselves to please women who know this. Here’s the key to know how much of a girly-girl you are… Do you want the man in your life to respect or cherish you first? If you said cherish, I’d guess you have men lining up to date you.

3. Women who know and speak the language men can hear have a huge advantage over other women out there. If you share the types of stories you’d share with your girlfriend, you’ll lose him at... Read on, click http://www.wetinhappen.com.ng/10-things-women-who-find-mr-right-are-doing-differently/

Politics[Photos] Akwa Ibom 2015: Elections Without Blood by manpo2k(op): 6:44pm On Nov 26, 2014
As democratic governance deepens, the full spectrum of social, political, and economic issues facing Nigeria requires new and invigorated ways of thinking about youth and leadership. Today’s youth are being looked upon to play a crucial and active role in building the nation, promoting accountability, and developing new visions. In so doing, building the capacity for this generation is perhaps one of the greatest challenges, and also one of the most important. It is the active involvement of the youth in the socio-economic cum political interplays that will shape Nigeria’s future.

To that effect, Ndito Boys and Girls Organization was set up as a youth advocacy group that promotes good governance, youth political participation and entrepreneurial empowerment. Founded in 2013 at the intersection of popular culture and politics, Ndito Boys & Girls Organization has become the fastest-growing socio-political youth advocacy group and a trusted source of information for young people about politics and governance.

Ndito Boys & Girls organization is dedicated to building the political power of young people by engaging them in the electoral process, urging politicians to pay attention to issues that matter to young voters, and protecting their fundamental right to vote. The organization’s goal is to reinvigorate our country's democracy and redefine citizenship for a generation in 2015 and beyond. The aim is to use popular culture, new technologies and grassroots organizing to motivate and mobilize young people to participate in every election, with the goal of seizing the power of the youth-vote to create political and social change.

The road to 2015 is getting busier. The path to 2015 is getting crowded. The politicking firmament is getting cloudy and soon, it will rain heavily. This is the season of politics and politicians are lacing their boots getting ready to run as far as they can. Numerous clandestine meetings are holding both day and night; the eventual prize at stake is the mandate of the people. It is on record that during the last general elections in 2011, properties worth billions of Naira were destroyed, more than 800 people died, many were maimed and injured as a result of electoral violence.

As 2015 general election preparations get underway, Ndito Boys & Girls Organization has commenced a campaign against election violence tagged: ELECTIONS WITHOUT BLOOD. This campaign, aimed at reducing incidents of violence perpetrated by young people at elections, will involve encouraging youth volunteers across the state to develop awareness-raising activities, including street rallies, social and cultural events, workshops and media appearances, to persuade young people to shun violence.

The official endorsement dinner for this campaign was held last weekend with stakeholders across Akwa Ibom state that believe in a peaceful and non-violence general elections in attendance.

This weekend, Elections Without Blood Walk – a street rally organized to create awareness and sensitize the public on the need for a peaceful and non-violent elections come 2015 will take place. The walk will be held on Friday 28th November 2014 and will commence from 9am at Ndito Boys and Girls Family House, Plot 6, C-Line, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo to terminate at the Government House Gate, Uyo.

Non-violence and unity in AKWA-IBOM STATE can only become a reality when all people rise above ethnic boundaries, political differences, religion and ideologies, celebrate our diversities rather than use them as a reason for violence and disunity. This is our message. This is our commitment!

If you're around Uyo on Friday, please join us. Call 08066255832 for inquiries.

Governor Godswill Akapbio administering oath of office to the newly appointed Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, Engr. Nkereuwem Ekanem at the Exco chambers of Governor’s office, Uyo.

A new Secretary to Akwa Ibom Government has been sworn in with a charge on him to come on board with zeal, commitment, determination and love to render service and further the gains of uncommon transformation in the state.

He is Engr. Nkereuwem James Ekanem, immediate past Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Uyo. He replaces Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel who resigned his appointment last month to contest for the governorship position under the platform of PDP in the State.

Engr. Ekanem, who is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a registered engineer with COREN and a holder of M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Loughborough University of Technology, United Kingdom, hails from Ikot Okpoudo in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.

Governor Godswill Akpabio who performed the swearing-in ceremony Wednesday at Governor’s Office, Uyo further urged Engr. Ekanem to bring a strong set of skills, great wealth of experience and a good heart to the job of Secretary to the State Government.

The Governor remarked “He should, however, be reminded that he is joining this administration at the twilight of our transformational journey. I urge you to learn techniques, imbibe our agenda speedily and lend yourself to the demands of your office for the benefit of the State.

“Be further informed that this office, like the Office of the Governor, demands high sacrifice for the good of the people. It is an office,
which has no local government area, because you are here to serve every Akwa Ibom person and every Akwa Ibom hamlet without bias or prejudice. It is an office, which must reflect in character and content the lofty dreams of this administration about every Akwa Ibom person.

He enjoined Akwa Ibom people to pray for Engr. Ekanem, saying that “Your prayers for this administration brought us to this enviable position we are today as a State, and your prayers today will take us to where we will be in future. We crave for more your prayers particularly in this final lap of our transformational experience”.

According to him “It is to a common part of the world’s popular wisdom that you do not change a winning team. But in life, there are force-majeure situations in which case circumstances beyond your control force changes in the winning team.

“We found ourselves in such a situation with the resignation of the erstwhile Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel. Today we have come to strengthen the team and sustain its winning streak with the addition of Engr. Nkereuwem Ekanem as the new Secretary to the State Government”, he maintained.

Akpabio stated “Therefore, as we swear-in this gentleman, Engr. Nkereuwem Ekanem today as the new Secretary to the State Government, let us thank the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, who resigned his appointment to pursue his aspiration of serving his fatherland in a higher capacity.

“The Government and the good people of Akwa Ibom State acknowledge with gratitude the dedication, passion and commitment of Mr. Udom Emmanuel in the service of Akwa Ibom State. We salute his humility, passion and commitment to serve his fatherland. When we beckoned on him to come and lend his wealth of experience to building our State, he left his lucrative career in the financial sector and responded to that clarion call.

“He distinguished himself as an asset of inestimable value, served the State passionately and displayed rare competence in the discharge of his duties. The Government and the good people of our dear State appreciate him for his contributions to the Uncommon Transformation of the State and we collectively wish him success in his future endeavours.

“The Uncommon Transformation of our State is gathering greater momentum daily. There is great need, therefore to sustain the speed, and end our transformational journey on a laudable crescendo. To achieve this objective, we have, after a diligent search found in a technocrat who has paid his dues in the service of our fatherland, Engr. Nkereuwem Ekanem, a perfect fit for the office of Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government”, the Governor added.

FamilyDeath Penalty For 14yr Old Bride Who Poisoned Her 35yr Old Husband by manpo2k(op): 11:37pm On Oct 30, 2014
A 14-year-old Nigerian girl accused of murdering her 35-year-old husband by putting rat poison in his food could face the death penalty, Nigerian prosecutors have said.

The trial of Wasila Tasi'u, from a poor northern Nigeria family, has sparked a heated debate on the role of underage marriage in the conservative Muslim region, especially whether an adolescent girl can consent to be a bride.

Prosecutors at the High Court in Gezawa, outside Nigeria's second city of Kano, filed an amended complaint that charged Tasi'u with one count of murder over the killing of Umar Sani two weeks after their April wedding in the village of Unguwar Yansoro.

Lead prosecutor Lamido Abba Soron-Dinki said that if convicted, the charge is "punishable with death" and indicated the state would seek the maximum penalty.

Nigeria is not known to have executed a juvenile offender since 1997, when the country was ruled by military dictator Sani Abacha, according to Human Rights Watch.

Tasi'u entered the court wearing a cream-coloured hijab and was escorted by two policemen.

Her parents, who have condemned their daughter's alleged act, were in the public gallery - the first time the three were in the same room since Tasi'u's arrest in April, her legal representatives said.

The English-language charge sheet was translated into Hausa for the accused by the court clerk.

Tasi'u refused to answer when asked if she understood the charges.

The case was adjourned for 30 minutes so the charges could be better explained to the defendant, but when the alleged offences were read again Tasi'u stayed silent, turned her head to the wall and broke down in tears.

"The court records (that) she pleads not guilty," Judge Mohammed Yahaya said, apparently regarding her silence as equal to a denial of the charges and adjourned the case until November 26.

Activists, including in Nigeria's mainly Christian south, have called for Tasi'u's immediate release, saying she should be rehabilitated as a victim and noting the prospect that she was raped by the man she married.

But in the north, Islamic law operates alongside the secular criminal code, a hybrid system that has complicated the question of marital consent.

The affected families have denied that Tasi'u was forced into marriage, arguing that girls across the impoverished region marry at 14 and that Tasi'u and Sani followed the traditional system of courtship.

According to Nigeria's marriage act, anyone under 21 can marry provided they have parental consent and so evidence of an agreement between Tasi'u and her father Tasiu Mohammed could undermine claims of a forced union.

But defence lawyer Hussaina Aliyu has insisted the case is not a debate about the role of youth marriage in a Muslim society.

Instead, she has argued that under criminal law a 14-year-old cannot be charged with murder in a high court and has demanded that the case be moved to the juvenile system.

Nigeria defines the age of adulthood as 17 but the situation is less clear in the 12 northern states under Islamic law, where courts theoretically have the right to consider people under 17 as legally responsible.

Guidelines for how courts should blend Islamic and secular legal codes have not been well defined.

Celebrities5 Things You Didn't Know About The New Mrs. Clooney, Amal Alamuddin by manpo2k(op): 4:41pm On Sep 30, 2014
Last week was one of celebration for a ton of celebrities in Venice, and a time of mourning for ladies around the globe — George Clooney got married!

We all thought the silver fox was destined for eternal bachelorhood, but he indeed got wifed up in Italy. Now, before you go hating on the new Mrs. Clooney, you should probably know a few things about Amal Alamuddin.

You might find it surprisingly hard to dislike her, or you can at least embrace that whole "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" thing.

1. She has brains.
She's a London-based lawyer who specializes in international law, criminal law, human rights, and other important things. She graduated from Oxford, then went on to get her law degree from the New York University School of Law, where she received a fancy award for excellence. She currently works at Doughty Street Chambers.

2. She also has beauty.[/b]
Clooney's girlfriends are typically gorgeous, and Alamuddin is no exception. She also has amazing hair and style.

3. She's 36.
The future Mrs. Clooney was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1978 and grew up in London. She's 17 years younger than the actor, if you're having trouble with that math.

4. She speaks three languages.
Alamuddin is fluent in Arabic, English, and French. She apparently doesn't speak Italian (at least fluently), but we imagine it's only a matter of time — since Clooney has a mansion on Lake Como and all.

5. She's been dating Clooney for a year.
The pair first stepped out together in London in October 2013, then they had dinner at the White House a few months later, then they went on an epic vacation together, then they got engaged in April. The rest is pretty much history.

BusinessKonga.com, A SCAM? by manpo2k(op): 4:05pm On Sep 30, 2014
Okay, this is rather surprising but I wonder what other people experience while shopping on Konga.com. Has anyone bought anything from Konga in Uyo or any parts of Nigeria recently? How long did it take for them to deliver your items to you? Okay, that was then, have you done any shopping with them quite recently?

Well, I bought this pair of shoes from them on the 17th of September 2014 and tomorrow (Wednesday 1st October 2014) will make it two weeks and I've not received my stuff! I've called their hotlines repeatedly and they kept telling me they're working with the courier service to make sure the item is delivered to me. My God, for two weeks? Meanwhile, I needed to use this shoe for an event since last week!

I am a blogger (www.wetinhappen.com.ng) and an affiliate of Konga. This leave me thinking about what my visitors experience while shopping on Konga.com.

I've placed some Konga affiliate links on my blog (to earn commission on sales), so this gets me thinking, is this what my visitors (potential Konga.com customers) experience too? No wonder the decrease in clicks on Konga's affiliate links on my blog!

I am saddened by the way Konga is handling my case and this is not encouraging at all. Maybe, I have to look for alternatives. *straight face* *furious*

Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks have split up. The couple - who officially confirmed their relationship in 2012 and have been dating on and off for two years - are said to have come to a mutual agreement to call time on their relationship after struggling to make it work due to their busy work schedules.

A source told US Weekly: ''They are both upset. It just wasn't working out. It was a lot of travel and hard to work with their schedules.''

The news comes just weeks after Jason, 25, gushed about the 'No Air' singer and claimed he knew she was ''the one''.

The 'Talk Dirty' hitmaker confessed he was determined to have the 24-year-old singer romantically involved in his life long-term after he broke one of his vertebrae in 2012.

Asked when he realised she was his match, he replied: ''I knew that pretty early on. I felt that when I was in the hospital with my neck injury. I felt different ... I felt like I needed her in my world.''

However, he also recognised the difficulties of having a relationship in the public eye.

He explained: ''You know, of course we have our problems just like anybody else. But our relationship is a positive one and that's good for people to see in today's entertainment industry.''... Read on! Click http://www.wetinhappen.com.ng/break-jason-derulo-jordin-sparks-split/

During an interview the Desolation of Smaug actor admitted he is negotiating with producers over a comeback to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise in the fifth movie.

In the first three Pirates movies Bloom played the role of pirate Will Turner, but did not reprise the role in the fourth installment, On Stranger Tides, in 2011.

The 37-year-old actor reportedly told fans at an Oz Comic-Con event that he is considering joining the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, reported Yahoo News.

"There have certainly been some discussions about it and I'm open to it," Orlando told the crowd. "That whole experience working with Johnny and [director] Gore [Verbinski] was really amazing for me."

Depp's influence

The actor also revealed how Johnny Depp influenced his film career.

"I had a great time working with Johnny. One of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity was because [he] was involved," he added. "I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift."

Dead Men Tell No Tales will see the return of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa. According to rumours, Christoph Waltz will portray the main antagonist.

The fifth instalment in the Pirates series looks set to be a straightforward pirate movie without any "monsters".
