Celebrities4 Top Hi-tech Founders In Nigeria From Akwa Ibom State by manpo2k(op): 11:13pm On Mar 01, 2015
There is a quiet revolution in Nigeria. Technology and online companies are springing up, with talent attracted by the low start-up costs and the millions that can be made with a small number of staff. Check out the 4 Top Hi-Tech Founders in Nigeria From Akwa Ibom State!

There is a little known secret in this industry – a small state in the south-south is playing a big role in the technology industry – and nobody is aware of it.

You cannot mention major technology and online companies in Nigeria without mentioning companies like Wild Fusions (the biggest online agency in Nigeria), Hotels.ng (The biggest online hotel booking portal in Nigeria), Page Nanny (the tech-managed host for most major sites in Nigeria like Bellanaija.com, Notjustok.com, 360nobs.com etc), Anakle (responsible for digital media for GT-Bank, Shell, etc).

What do these companies have in common? All forefront technology companies and all founded and run by Akwa Ibomites! How does a state with just 4 million inhabitants have such an out sized influence on a particular industry in a country with 170 million people?

The Akwa Ibomite has always been seen as a quiet, studious person, very welcoming of strangers and open to new ideas.

Perhaps it is this intrinsic nature that makes them suitable for an industry where a lot of time is spent sitting behind a computer, and the rest is spent in studying.

I dug deeper into each of the companies to find out what lies behind.... Click http://www.wetinhappen.com.ng/4-top-hi-tech-founders-nigeria-akwa-ibom-state/
PoliticsHouse Of Reps 2015: Why I Dumped PDP; - Christoper Esin a.k.a Mista Xto by manpo2k(op):
Oron is agog as Christopher Esin, BOT chairman PMAN, ex-chairman PMAN governors forum in Nigeria, former member council for arts and culture, member human rights committee of Nigeria, speaker AKS Entertainer's parliament and nominee for the peace ambassador, commences campaigns to become the next House of Reps member, Oron federal constituency on the platform of Accord party. In this chat with select media men, Esin popularly known as MistaXto who holds a degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution with a Master’s Degree in view, spoke on a variety of issues, including dumping PDP and why he is the best choice for Oro nation come 2015.

Sir you have been a bit out of circulation, any reason for that?

Xto: (laughter) you have been looking for me at the wrong places, I think now I have circulated even more in the places I should.

Obviously you are conspicuously absent at the PDP rallies and your absence is deeply felt considering your role in leading entertainers to past campaigns
Xto: well, God does not create a new ground to put a man, I had to leave for others to rise, I think I am not missed because most of the guys who are there are boys who grew up and learnt well from me. I have confidence in them and I am sure they are doing well. I have to answer a higher call to serve and so I moved on to stand the election into the federal house.

How has your boss the Governor reacted to that decision as you are not running on the PDP platform?
Xto: my boss is a good man and will not wish that I don't grow, as the PDP couldn't give two people the ticket to run for the same office, he understands that I have the right to take a decision and I am sure he respects that.

But don't they see you as not being loyal?
Xto: A man has to love his God, his family and his land, loyalty and patriotism may conflict at some point but patriotism may be a call from God and a demand from the land and family going by the circumstance at the moment, so faith in God helps a man make a decision to be patriotic. Dan brown wrote in inferno that the darkest places in hell are reserved for men who chose to be neutral in the face of a moral crisis, and the moral crisis in Oro nation places a demand on true patriots to take a stand.

Is it because an Oro man is not going to be Governor?
Xto: far from that, it is because Oro must have quality and credible representation at that level and also because the grievances of Oro nation is going to blind them into causing a great injustices to the Udunguko people of Oro.

How do you mean sir?
Xto: Oro nation was at the centre to demand for a Governor of Oro extraction on the moral justification of the fact that it should be rotated on ethnic line, since Oro has never produced a Governor, whereas Udunguko has never produced a federal house member. whatever would justify Oro to demand for Governor on the basis of rotation should also make Okobo relinquish the federal house to rotate to Udunguko that has never produced one after Okobo has done its complete round of eight years, so if might is right and Okobo stays in the race for that reason then Oro has no justification to its grievances; but if the centre was unfair to Oro then Oro should tow the line of justice to its own devoid of any sentiment.

But the federal house member will speak for the whole Oro nation irrespective of which local government the representative comes from, so why is Udunguko particular that it should be them?
Xto: that goes for the Governor too, as an Akwa Ibom Governor must serve the entire state so why were we particular that it should be Oro turn? On the other hand, Udunguko has relinquished the state house to Oron as they are a two local government state constituency, now that's decency on our part, but then Udunguko is empty there, and in the next eight years, if PDP or APC wins the federal house, Udunguko stays empty. The three senatorial candidates of Oro nation are from Oron LGA and Urueoffong, Udunguko is empty there, and of course there's no Udunguko man for governor, it is not right that Udunguko should not have a voice in the state for four years and after four years Urueoffong will be justified to run on the basis that Okobo has scuttled our primordial understanding. By then it will be even more difficult for Udunguko to produce a federal house member, so this is the time for us to stop the injustice that's brewing.

Are you in the race because you are from Udunguko?
Xto: I am in the race because I am an Oro man from Udunguko first, and because I am most qualified and credible and because I am honest and patriotic. The danger of Okobo running the federal house election is a spec of fire that can snowball into genocide, it threatens our fragile peace as a people and cannot be morally justified by a people seeking justice in their land, now there are three contenders for that office and so Oro will put everyone on a moral scale and pick the best with the right weight with credibility and patriotism as well as justice as the criteria for adoption of any candidate.

You are the Accord Party candidate, what are your chances against the ruling party PDP and the Oro preferred party the APC?
Xto: Oro has not collectively picked the APC over any other party, Oro has its sons and daughters in every political party and every party has its saints and sinners. Oro will pick the best of its children on any platform. A man who is forced to do a thing against his will gives his consent still. That is why the three political parties have created platforms for Oro to make credible choices and it will be better for us all as a people considering that ACCORD party will be seen to be the party that has the most credible candidates.

Why do you think you are better than the rest for the office?
Xto: I have come from the background of professional excellence. I am the symbol of success that the next generation of Oro youths craves. I am most accessible, I am easy to deal with, I am most articulate, I am without any political enemy and so reconnecting Oro with the eventual ruling power will be easier. And the grace of God is sufficiently rested with me, I have a background in unionism, I have negotiated all my life and will negotiate better for Oro, and I am the only person who goes for service to Oro without seeing the office as settlement to enrich myself. Oro is divided on party lines and I am the best material with the acceptability to bring everybody back into the next administration, the access that my people will have will make me hear their needs first hand and address that within the powers of my office to bring succor to them. Oro has suffered neglect as a result of a disconnect between the powers that be and the people representing Oro, that reconnect is the first responsibility that my mandate bestows upon me and when that is properly addressed, prosperity will come to the people, without that, all other promises will be two tedious to achieve.

MY COMMITMENT TO NIGERIA

Preamble

1. Every country has its ‘lost generation’. Some were stolen away by war, some by economic downturns, and some by governments. Nigeria is perhaps the only country stolen by a cabal of political Mafias, merely for power, money, leisure and privilege. When the British administrators lowered the Union Jack in Lagos on October 1, 1960, Nigeria was Africa’s greatest hope. Its pool of talent mass of fertile land, and its newly discovered oil wealth, promised economic transformation and the role of leading the then independent African nations and those who were still struggling for freedom, under different forms of colonialism, to eventually lead the African Continent, onto the global stage.

2. Now, over fifty years of independence and despite our vast wealth – abundant natural and human resources, at home and abroad, we as a nation continue to struggle with the most basic needs (food, shelter, water, security sanitation, and electricity, etc). As a nation, we are paralyzed by wide spread poverty, endemic institutionalized corruption; high levels of unemployment; a near total collapse of our educational system and facilities, collapse and decaying health and ineffective social services systems, chaotic transportation and communications systems; and other basic but essential infrastructure; less than adequate institutions of government at all levels, resulting to break down of law and order, institutionalized insecurity to life and property; and weak, fragile and unstable economy, with non-functional financial institutions, etc.

EventsThe Only Record Akwa Ibom State Christmas Carol Night Is Yet To Break by manpo2k(op): 11:10pm On Dec 16, 2014
As written on its official website, The Akwa Ibom State Christmas Carol Night is not just a record-breaking gathering of Carol Singers but it is also a gathering built to strengthen the cord that binds the people of Akwa Ibom State by bringing together choristers, citizens and attendees from every religious denomination and every part of the state in what has come to be seen as a lofty, commendable and true unity project. It remains a vital part of the Christian worship experience, exuding an ambiance of bliss and serenity in and around the event venue and leaving a lingering nostalgia long after each edition, which routinely gets bigger than the previous.

This event has broken loads of records except one - online/social media trending record. These days, almost every event on planet earth is striving to connect and engage with fans worldwide right from the venue via social media. Currently, the most common social networks or websites within this rapidly changing media space include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, Flickr and blogs. Social media is constantly changing and evolving especially with the introduction of Hashtags. When a hash tag precedes a word or phrase, it is used to identify a keyword or topic of interest and facilitate a search for such a word or phrase.

So whenever a user adds a hashtag to their post, it is immediately indexed by the social network and searchable by other users. Once someone clicks on that hashtag, they’ll be brought to a page that aggregates all of the posts with the same hashtagged keyword in real-time. Once a keyword picks up enough momentum it becomes known as a “Trend”. Trending isn’t simply a matter of becoming the most popular hashtag on the networks. Each user’s trending topic is different based on their location and social connection.

For many, the word ‘Social Media’ means Facebook and Twitter but it is deeper than meets the eye. In its broadest sense, the term ‘social media’ is used to describe any web or mobile-based technology that facilitates interaction and conversation, and the sharing of content created by users. For organizers that understand the power of social media, content is king!

With a world class Information Commissioner and Communication Technology guru in Akwa Ibom State at the helm of media affairs, one cannot but expect the 2014 edition of 9999 Xmas Carol will trend on social media. The 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 editions of this event had little or no social media impact. We expect this record to be broken in 2014! It is time to look at social media from a fresh perspective!

Employing a full social media strategy at this event will drive engagement between participants, facilitate conversations long before the event starts, creates a space for participants to talk about the event program to define what they want and what they’re excited about and also gives them the opportunity to become event ambassadors by sharing their excitement. Online/offline participants all over the world will have an opportunity to catch up on proceedings of this event. They will have a first-hand experience of what it is like, to be in the NEST OF CHAMPIONS. They will become witnesses and in fact, a part of history! They will have a voice and the opportunity to express their views and share information with a global audience in real-time. Unlike traditional media, social media tends to be very open, democratic and, to a large extent, self-regulating. Social networks, blogs, wikis, photo and live video streaming, discussion forums, and review sites all fall under the overall banner of social media. These strategies should be used for this event.

This is a great challenge for the organizers of an event of this magnitude! The just-concluded The Experience and Shiloh Convention trended on Social Media for 48 hours! With statistical analytics from top social media meters online, we’ve seen that organizers of these events have set a standard by incorporating social media into their planning and execution. 9999 Xmas Carol should tow this path too! Social Media hype should be done before, during and after the event.

His Excellency Chief (Dr.) Godswill Obot Akpabio once said that "When the history of this epochal time shall be written, it shall be said that a choir of uncommon singers joined a team with uncommon vision to bring about uncommon transformation, both physically and mentally." The 2014 edition of 9999 Xmas Carol 2014 should go down in history as the first event ever, to trend on social media from this part of the globe! This will be also be UNCOMMON!

With all the arrangements fixed for this year’s edition, with the fine crop of VIPs scheduled to attend, with such huge media attention that this event will command coupled with the intimidating media antecedents of the man at the helm of media affairs of this event (Mr. Aniekan Umanah – Honorable Commissioner for Information and Communication), with the vast social media potentials of young IT entrepreneurs in Akwa Ibom State, no excuse should be given for this event not trending on social media! It is possible! We can do it!

Come Saturday 20th December 2014 at the Nest of Champions, as we join our voices to sing “Hallelujah Chorus”, let it go down in history that The Akwa Ibom State Christmas Carol Night 2014 was the first event to trend online in Akwa Ibom State and in fact the whole South-South Nigeria. It can also set a record for being the first Christmas Carol event to trend on Social media in the whole world!

Uncommon Transformation is real! Let’s make this happen!

PoliticsAPC To Recieve 21 PDP Governorship Aspirants In Akwa Ibom by manpo2k(op): 2:28am On Dec 12, 2014
At least 21 aggrieved Akwa Ibom State governorship aspirants have threatened to defect to opposition parties, citing what they described as underhand dealings in the primaries that led to the emergence of Udom Emmanuel as governorship candidate.

The aspirants, who stormed the Abuja national secretariat of the PDP Tuesday night, accused the state Governor, Godswill Akpabio, of manipulating the process and shutting them out of the race.

After waiting in vain for several hours to table their complaints before the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, the aspirants distributed copies of their petition to journalists.

In the petition jointly signed by the aspirants and read by one of them, Amb. Assam Assam, they alleged among others, that the venue and authentic list of delegates used in the said primary election were changed at the last minutes.

The petition, which was addressed to the chairman of the state’s governorship electoral panel, Prince Bola Oyebowale, stated that ward congresses, through which the delegates ought to have been elected did not hold in any part of the state.

The petition said: “Despite the plethora of lists, there is no accreditation of delegates by your electoral panel to certify the individuals who are being trafficked in heavily guarded buses to venue of the congress from Government House, Uyo.

“It should also be noted that all the purported delegates from the entire state were invited to Government a House where they were addressed, threatened, intimidated and induced with the sum of one million Naira each to ensure compliance, by voting for the governor’s preferred candidate, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.

“The authenticity of the delegates list being the condition precedent to a validly conducted governorship primaries, we shall therefore not consent to the legitimization of the charade that this exercise is.

“It is curious and unconscionable that in a clear violation of the guidelines of the party for primary elections and the Electoral Act, the contrived list of ad hoc delegate is populated by political appointees of government and civil servants.”
