As far as I'm concerned, this new development isn't a stumbling block for we Jehovah's witnesses. Anyone who left the organization because of beards was never ready to become a Jehovah's witnesses.

Also, I'm not surprised we Jehovah's witnesses are decreasing, the world is full of immortality and anyone who loves immorality can never be a Jehovah's witnesses. We're content with whatever we have, we put Jehovah first before riches but then many people want to get rich at all cost. There are lot of things that we Jehovah's witnesses don't condone and we won't condone anyone who choose that part. So therefore we must surely decrease in numbers. I'm glad we're decreasing as it builds my confidence that I'm truly in the true organization that worship God. Read mattew 7 vs 14. "Small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it". Bearing this in mind builds my faith in Jehovah and his organization.

Quite unfortunate that people with half information will struggle to twist the truth to suit their hate for the JW's. Who told you people that JW's don't wear beards? JW's are sensitive to the environment/territory they find themselves, In some parts of the world JW's wear beards depending on what type of grooming that is considered to be modest in such territory. I don't think JW's want to be a stumbling block to any one who may wish to listen to the Bible's message. I see hate in several write-ups here.

It's due to Western culture!
Most of our brothers look up to the appearance of brothers living in our bethel homes and members of the Governing Body that they don't wear beards, this is because for some decades wearing beards has been view as indecent in the Western culture while the East takes it as a crime for men to shave their beards.
Brothers in the Eastern world like Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and other Arab countries finds it difficult to walk freely in their communities so letters keep rolling in on this matter that's why the Governing Body have to address it.
Now Kalid in Iran can walk freely in his area without being ostracized as an infidel while i and other JWs throughout the world still view him as a responsible brother in our spiritual family.
