Nadia’s Point of View

“I really need coffee right now”. I placed my hands over my head as we walked down the street.

I had finished my session on the radio and Zaynah and I decided to go out for lunch.

I work as a Presenter in Felicity fm, where I give the breakfast show. It was not an easy job to talk for hours and when you do so, coffee work wonders.

“Coffee addict!” Zaynah rolled her eyes at me.

Zaynah and I work in the same company. She is however not a presenter. Zaynah is my closest friend. We clicked the very moment we met.

She’s quite unique and adorable, tall, ebony skin with a great poise. She’s a single mother who lost her husband in the early years of marriage. Despite that, she’s strong, determined and working hard to make sure that her little son gets the best out of life.

“I need it. Have you imagined raising your voice to millions of people?”

“I wouldn’t even dream of that. Well, it’s your work and you love it. That’s what matters,” She said, “Mind if we buy lunch and go eat in the coffee shop? I’m seriously starving. Don’t worry, lunch on me”. She raised her hands proudly.

“You’re the best. How can I imagine life without you?” I teased.

“Don’t be too happy. Nothing goes for nothing”.

“As far you don’t ask for my head tomorrow, I’m fine”. I laughed sarcastically.

We walked into the restaurant and Zaynah bought us lunch. I watched as she joked with the man at the counter. She was truly lovely and her amazing, her green gown glittering in delight.

Zaynah is also a fashion designer and as her best friend, I get to wear free nice clothes.

“Okay, that’s it. Let’s get going”. She threw the bags into my hands as we left the restaurant.

We got to the coffee shop in no time and occupied our usual seat, where I viewed the natural scenery outside.

“Why do you keep staring outside?” She asked as we had ordered coffee and opened our meal.
“It makes me feel very great…and peaceful”.

“All I see is grass and palm trees…and some flowers”. She frowned.

“You’re strange Zaynah”. I frowned at her as I picked my spoon and inhaled the lovely aroma.

“This is always the best time of the day”. I sipped the hot coffee and grinned widely.

“Hmm…lazy lazy, Nadia”.

“Whatever”. I took my phone and continued the book I was reading.

Zaynah threw her spoon and stared at me in disgust. “You keep doing this…read those boring books and pretend like you’re the only person in the world”.

“Books are lovely. You should try reading Maryam AbdulWahab’s book series”.

“Oh please. The only time I read is when I need to sleep”. She rolled her eyes.

“AM I DREAMING?!” An unfamiliar male voice called from behind.

Episode One

Nadia had been in the coffee shop for hours. It was her usual routine every morning…to sit there and ruminate over the past.

She stared at the cold black coffee and tried to fight the tears that filled up her eyes.

She looked at the view beside her and it made her feel much better. The natural scenery was beautiful and calm…something that always helped her after a troubled day.

It had been months and getting over Rasheed was almost impossible. Their last parting had been very remorseful.

I have to move on with life. He’s past now. She muttered as she sipped from the cup.

A familiar figure entered the coffee shop. He looked the same way, dressed in his usual sweater and trouser, with the same disheveled hair that she had loved so much.

She looked through her cup and shrieked in fear, wondering why he has there.

They haven’t seen each other for months.

He looked clearly unhappy as he ordered a cup of coffee and walked over to get a seat…when he caught sight of her, the woman he love…the one who had made him very unhappy.

He thought he was dreaming, just like he had done the same last night when she appeared. They laughed as usual and she promised to always be his side.

It was then he opened his eyes and saw that it was only dream…just like it had been for the past nights. She was never coming back!

Blinking severally to be sure that it was reality, he still saw the loveliest lady he had ever seen, the only lady that could make him feel helpless and uncontrollable. The woman he fell in love with, at first sight.

He walked to her seat, counting his steps as his heart beat in thud. He once felt comfortable with her by his side but it’s the contrast now.

“Nadia Thanni?”

“Asalamu ‘alaykum Rasheed”. She gave a weak smile.

“Wa’alaykumu salam. May I sit?”

“Of course”. She said as he sat, noticing the black coffee she drank.

Nadia drank coffee only when she was unhappy. It was something he always knew.

“How are you?” He asked, crossing his legs and placing his cappuccino on the table.

“I’m fine. You?”

“Great”. He said, raking his messy hair.

It was an act that turned her on before now.

Everywhere went silent as Nadia sipped her coffee uncomfortably, watching the view outside to make her feel better.

This time, it had no effect on her.

“How is Maher?” He asked.

“We’ve broken up. Our relationship couldn’t last…and Yasmin?”

“The same happened to us”. He said.

Nadia sipped her coffee again and tried to hide how uncomfortable she felt.

I could have just remained in the office. I wouldn’t have met him again after a long time…

“Are you happy Nadia?”

“Do I look happy?” She laughed ruefully.

“It’s been three months and I still can’t get you off my mind. How absurd is it”. He sighed deeply.

They had parted ways in a way that wasn’t good.

“We felt leaving ourselves is the best for us”. Nadia said as her eyes swelled with tears.

“Is it? Why did even think that we can live without each other?”

Nadia placed her hand over her mouth. “Is it too late?”

“Is it too late?” He asked the same question as they ruminated over their life before now, and the happy and sad moments they shared.

Paying to Write Exams

My younger sister is writing a series of external exams and narrating the incident at the exam centre, I was left to ponder and ruminate over the deficiencies in our educational sector.

“Majority of the candidates pay to write their exams”. She said.

“And the invigilators collect the money and give them answers?”

“Yes”. She confirmed.

It was unbelievable. She explained the story of a man that wrote with her in the centre. He sat for an hour, staring at his exam paper and chewing his biro. After a while, he gave up and asked the invigilator for the price of the paper.

The invigilator wrote it on a paper ad gave him answers to fill his blank pages.

This is what goes on in all centers. Most people have lost their self confidence. They do not believe in reading to pass and solving answers independently.

“You won’t believe that I asked someone from among a group of friends how her paper went. Guess what she said?”

“What?” I inquired.

My sister chuckled. “She said that ‘we did our best’, meaning it was a team work…and you wouldn’t believe the ignorance of most of them. I saw some of the candidates copying H20, C02 as H20, C02.”. She said as I laughed.

Education deserves more than how we value it. Education is a virtue. It’s a necessity for life.

I met a man that lamented that if he had known years ago, he could have told his father to give him school fees as capital for business rather than spending it on education.

I hope we all go back and examine the significance of education. It cannot be washed away and it must be derived. A literate can never be compared to an illiterate in the society. Education weighs more than any form of wealth…they cannot even be compared.

Also, you don’t have to be desperate to be educated. Education is for the self worthy people, those that truly deserve to be educated.

I hope my brief write up gives a different view about education.

As always, Life is an art.

As always, Life is an art. It is very beautiful and lovely. Although, behind those lovely designs are mistakes and errors. Life is not always the way we want it to be but it is our duty to make ourselves happy.

Remember that life is very short to be unhappy. So forgive quickly, love truly and never forget anything that made you smile!!!

It was his wedding day, the most special and remarkable day of his life. He was getting married to the love of his life, the one his heart belongs to.

The planning had been on for months and he waited hesitantly for the big day to arrive, for him to spend the rest of his life with his dream partner.

He was dressed in a nice and classy suit, and the groomsmen chided him of how nervous he looked.

“I’ll own Samantha completely in a few hours from now. Why won’t I be nervous?” He said, viewing his lovely self in the mirror.

They arrived at the venue and he stood with the groomsmen, awaiting the arrival of the bride.

And then, he was told to turn while the bride entered with her father. Cheers were heard and he grew impatient, willing to see his beautiful bride.

“You can turn back now”. They said as he turned, scanning his eyes around for beautiful Samantha in white.

Behold, she was there, hands in hands with her father, smiling graciously and trying hard not to cry.
He gasped with widened eyes and trembling lips. He couldn’t keep his eyes off Samantha as he mumbled ‘I love you’. She was really beautiful, the most beautiful to him.

He wondered how lucky he was, to get the most beautiful bride in the world. He felt the luckiest on his wedding day.

With his fixed gaze on her, he held her hand as they walk down the aisle and he knew that his wedding day will be a very memorable one. It would be a day that he would live to remember. He was getting married to the woman of his dreams!

Question & Answer Session for Dhakiyah and Hayrah

Hello fans and readers of the Nitty Wall and, Dhakiyah and Hayrah.
Just like we've done for Love By Fate, the Q & A session is here to answer your burning questions for your favourite novel series, Dhakiyah and Hayrah.

Thank you so much for supporting and following our story to the end. This is actually one of the greatest sources of my happiness!
Well, you ought to have read Dhakiyah and Hayrah to understand the Q & A session for it.
Here it goes!

Q: What inspired you to write this story?
A: A novel I read in my final year. I really can't remember the title but it is all about teenagers, sharing their real life story on various segments. There's also a particular story in it that captivated me, which is my major source of inspiration for the novel.
Also, a novel by Fallzswimmer on wattpad 'The Heartbreak Chronicles Bk 2' inspired me to write Dhakiyah and Hayrah.

Q: You just got inspiration and wrote the story?
A: Not really. It started out as a conventional story, Donna and Helena. I got stuck somewhere and stopped. Going through my stack of papers, I just thought, "Why don't I re-write this trash in another form?"

Q: How long did it take you to write the novel?
A: It's more like a novella. It didn't take much time.

Q: Are any character based on people you know in real life?
A: I wish that I knew a determined person like Ali, a caring and considerate sister like Dhakiyah and a beautiful and jovial friend like Hayrah.
Sadly, I don't.

Q: Do you wish to change anything of this book?
A: Oh yes! The chapters are damn too short.

Q: How did you come up with their names?
A: Donna and Helena were transformed to Dhakiyah and Hayrah. Ali and Nu'man are lovely names.

Q: Which character do you relate with the most?
A: Dhakiyah's introverted nature. She's shy, timid and drawn out from the world due to the loss of her Parents and living in an orphanage.
Still, she's caring, loving and very considerate.

Episode Eleven (Finale)

Very early the next morning, Dhakiyah packed her luggage and set for the airport.

She was going without informing neither Hayrah nor Ali.

It was on an impromptu journey but she knew that she had to leave...to clear things off.

"Don't worry Dhaki. All will be fine". Hayrah's dad said as they drove to the airport.

They arrived there and Dhakiyah stood at the queue, to check in her luggage.

It was then she remembered all that have transpired throughout the month. Dhakiyah and Hayrah had been the best of friends and sisters until Ali came into their life.

If only things could be the way they used to be.

"The flight to London leaves in the next thirty minutes".

They called as Dhakiyah noticed the space in front of her. She quickly filled it before those behind her start to complain.

"Dhaki! Dhaki! Please wait". A voice called.

She turned to see Hayrah running towards her. She looked disheveled and rough in appearance.

"You have to hear me out Dhaki".

"What are you doing here, all dressed like this?"

"Dhaki," Hayrah let out a deep breath which showed that she had been running, "I had to run over to prevent you from leaving me. How could you ever think that I can be happy without you". She stifled a laugh which turned out to be a cry.

"Can we at least go to somewhere private?"

"No time for that. I'm sorry for hurting your feelings last night, just like I always do".

'I'm sorry for always thinking about myself, not caring about how you feel. I'm sorry for being proud, stupid and acting as a spoilt brat. I'm sorry for everything Dhaki, for not caring about your happiness and not giving you a chance to explain yourself. You're the best sister I can ever dream of having". She said as they hugged themselves, crying profusely.

"I love you Dhaki".

"I love you too Hayrah".

"So, am I free to love Ali?"

“One of the greatest titles in the world is parent, and one of the biggest blessings in the world is to have parents to call mom and dad”. –Jim DeMint.

Arriving Lagos very late in the night, the environment was pretty dangerous and bikes were not in sight. The few ones that arrive were surrounded by the swarms of people desperate to get to their destination.

Rain was drizzling and the journey had worn me down. There was no strength to struggle. I just needed to go home, take a hot shower, empty my bladder and have a great dinner.

“Hello dad”.

“Yes daughter, where are you?”

“I’m at the filling station. Okadas are no here at all”.

“Okay, just stay where you are. I’m coming right now to pick you up”. My dad said and hung up.
Despite the journey’s frustration and the rain that had drenched me from head to toe, I managed to break a smile because I knew for sure that there is someone who would always stand by me, always!

6. You don't freak out if you haven't spoken for hours.
This is because you guys trust each other so much that the silence of some amount of time doesn't send you into a drama spiral.

7. Buying gifts become pretty easy.
Unlike before when you used to find buying gifts as strenous and difficult, it’s easy to go to a mall and see million things you're sure that your heart desire would love.

8. You sometimes fall in love with your bae's hotness over again
You get the butterfly sensation and get astounded when your bae wears something that you like.

9. They know all your favourite tv shows
They know what you like best and when you'll not like to be disturbed 'cos your watching your favourite.

10. Their pain is your pain
When something bad happens to your heart desire, it affects you so much like it actually happened to you.

Puzzle for Fans

Hello lovely fans of our favourite series.

I’m sorry, but this is not an update. Why don’t we do something fun?

Dhakiyah and Hayrah will end this week. This is because we have just one episode to go. The fun thing is to predict what will happen in the last episode.

The previous episode ended with Hayrah discovering the truth that has been hidden for a long time. Flaring up, she expressed her anger towards Dhakiyah and how she doesn’t want to have anything to do with her.

Dhakiyah, along with Hayrah’s father plan her trip out of the country.

How do you think our story will end? Will Dhakiyah leave Ali and Hayrah behind? Will Hayrah forgive Dhakiyah? Will Dhakiyah and Ali get back together?

Send your response and get the chance to have your name published in the next episode.

Goodluck!
