When I was a kid I went to river Benue to swim wit three of my siblings. Being the smallest child I was not allowed to go too far into the river but when I noticed one small boy of my age swimming far into the water I decided to follow him even though I had not known how to swim very well. I got to a point and the force of the water was too much for me. I started struggling to come back to the river banks but the water kept pushing me with force, each time I tried to shout, water would enter my mouth, everyone including my brothers ran out of the river and were watching as I was struggling with death. It was one good Samaritan that took the risk, jumped into the river to rescue me that day. I drank more than enough, my stomach was swollen. They helped press my stomach to discharge the water. Since then I have not been to a swimming pool |

Politics › Re: Katsina North Senatorial EIection: Kaita Vs Kaita (Brothers Battle For Senate) by mariesnikz(m): 9:24am On Aug 10, 2018 |
HungerBAD: Posted By: AUGUSTINE OKEZIE
Two blood brothers are contesting the senatorial by-election in Katsina North tomorrow. Who wins between Kabir Kaita of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Ahmad Kaita, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC)? AUGUSTINE OKEZIE writes on the sibling rivalry.
Two biological brothers, Kabir Babba Kaita and Ahmad Babba Kaita, are contesting for the vacant Katsina North senatorial seat in tomorrow’s by-election. Kabir is contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Ahmad belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) respectively. Though there are other candidates in the race, the two brothers are considered by all political permutations as the frontrunners in the contest.
They hail from Kankia Local Government Area. They have been successful in their various fields of endeavours before entering politics. Kabir who is older, emerged as the flag bearer of the APC after a hotly-contested primary, while Ahmad secured the PDP ticket through a consensus arrangement.
The PDP flag bearer, Ahmad, is known as ‘’Garkuwan Kankia’. He is a retired custom officer. Kabir is known as ‘’Sardaunan Kankia’’. He is currently a member of the House of Representatives.
Malam Musa Salisu, a politician who hails from the same local government area, said: “I know Ahmad well enough and closely to know that he will forever respect and cherish his elder brother, regardless of political differences. I am sure he has no problem with his brother contesting against him on the platform of the PDP and I know Garkuwan is too much of a man to engage his younger brother in any way or form that is less than honorable.”
Not a few stakeholders believe that the teeming number of aspirants in who clamoured for the ticket of the ruling APC for the vacant Katsina North senatorial seat, attests to the fact that the pendulum currently swings to the direction of the party, due to several contending factors.
The campaign have been hot. Supporters of the APC defied rainfall to flag off the party’s campaign ahead of the by-election. The party faithful who trooped out in their numbers stormed the Emir of Daura palace, the arena for the campaign.
Speaking during the flag off, the party’s flag bearer, who is also the member representing Ingawa, Kusada and Kankia federal constituency, vowed to ensure that the dream of getting a federal university in Daura becomes a reality, if elected.
He said: “The late Senator, Mustapha Bukar, has started a good work before death snatched him away. He started by moving a motion before the Senate for the establishment of a Federal University in Daura. The motion has passed its first reading and the second reading and I will continue from there and ensure that it becomes a reality.
He said: “We will also carry everybody along by providing level playing ground and justice to all.”
The party chairman, Shittu Shittu, urged party faithful who registered for the Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) to collect their cards. He said that information reaching him from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was that many of the cards were yet to collected.
Shittu also called on the party to enlighten voters about how to cast their ballot, particularly since the two major aspirants have similar names.
The Chairman of the APC in Daura Local Government, Alhaji Sani Al-Tine, said a vote for the APC flag bearer is a vote for President Muhammadu Buhari.
The PDP flag bearer promised to re-invent the zone, empower the youths and attract investments that will improve the lives of the rural poor.
Being the constituency of President Buhari, the APC obviously has an edge in clinching the seat.
The PDP appears to have conceded defeat, by fielding a relatively-unknown candidate. Again, the PDP also lacks a formidable war chest, compared to the APC, hence its campaign was largely low key and devoid of media coverage.
An observer who craved anonymity said going by the present political scenario that other parties do not stand any chance of defeating the APC in the election.
He said: ”From the look of things, this bye-election is just an APC affair. Whoever is nominated to be the candidate of the part will emerge the winner at the poll.
“Do you know that most Daura people, particularly those in Daura town, the hometown of the late Senator Mustapha Bukar and the President, are so concerned that the seat should be re-occupied by their kinsman. They don’t want it to go outside Daura Emirate.”
Aliyu Suleiman of the APC said: “If you vote for someone and he is performing credibly well in some parts of the country, you will be hopeful that he will also move to your area. That is the issue. The supporters of Mr. President believe he is doing well in other parts of the country and there is no way he can forget his home.
“Buhari is delivering dividends of democracy on other geo-political zones for now, but hopefully when he goes for the second term, he will come back home and deliver more dividends of democracy. The people of Daura zone are nursing that expectation and will continue to be loyal to the APC and Buhari in the forthcoming elections.”
Many across the zone are sympathetic to the APC and its flag bearer, because of the track record of service and open door policy of Governor Aminu Bello Masari.
The generality of the views of Katsina people is that Governor Masari has executed several people-oriented projects that will direct positive impact on their lives..
Political watchers also believe that the defection of Umar Yau Gojo-Gojo, two-time Speaker of the state House of Assembly and leader of the PDP and in Katsina North to APC has reduced the opposition party to a shadow of itself, especially in Daura Emirate.
A PDP faithful, Abubakar Sani Mashi, said that the Daura Emirate born Gojo-Gojo, had the political structure and machinery to single handedly influence the outcome of the by-election.

Politics › Re: Xenophobic Attacks: Reps Charge FG To Punish South Africa by mariesnikz(m): 7:24am On May 24, 2018 |
Nairalandaire: The House of Representatives on Wednesday called on the Federal Government to institute stiffer measures against South Africa over the endless xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in that country.
This was sequel to a motion entitled “Urgent call for concerted Diplomatic Action to stop the recurring killings of Nigerians in South Africa” by Rep. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha (Abia-PDP) at plenary.
She urged the Federal Government to invoke the United Nations (UN) law on hate and all forms of xenophobic attacks against South Africa so as to make its government take the issue seriously.
“On May 5, one Mr Francis Ochuba who hailed from Umudim Ngodo Isuochi, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia was gunned down in central Johannesburg while visiting his tenant with his female South African estate agent to demand rent.
“We are also informed that on May 13, Mr Chidi Ibebuike, who hailed from Uturu, Isuikwuato LGA, Abia, was shot dead and his car snatched at Mpumalanga, South Africa.
“One Sunday Ezeji popularly known as ‘Alhaji’ was also shot to death on Nov. 17, 2017 in front of his shop at Pretoria, South Africa.
“We are concerned that Nigerians remain an endangered people in South Africa with no succour in sight from either the Nigerian or South African Government,” she said.
The lawmaker said that it was worrisome that Nigerians “are attacked and killed in cold blood sometimes within the view of South African law enforcement agents’’.
She said a lot needed to be done by the Federal Government through deliberations with its South African counterpart to ensure the protection of its citizens and for justice to be done over previous incidents.
Onyejeocha, however, said that her committee had resolved that the House would invite the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
She explained that the government officials would brief the lawmakers on measures taken by the Presidency to guarantee security of lives and property of Nigerians in South Africa.
“We condemn the killings of Francis Ochuba, Chidi Ibebuike and Sunday Ezekiel on Nov. 17, 2017, May 5 and May 13, respectively, and other 116 Nigerians gruesomely murdered in South Africa in the last two years.
“We urge the Federal Government to undertake diplomatic engagements with the Republic of South Africa on the need to protect the rights and lives of Nigerians in South Africa.
In his submission, Rep Aminu Shagari described the xenophobic acts as recurrent decimal. He said that in spite the efforts by the lawmakers to engage their South African counterparts on the matter, the intervention seemed unsuccessful.
According to Shagari, if South Africans cannot guarantee the lives of Nigerians, we also cannot guarantee the lives of South Africans in Nigeria.
On his part, Rep. Tobi Okechukwu (Enugu-PDP) said the motion called for concerted effort to stop the killings.
According to him, data available show that every month, five Nigerians are killed in South Africa.
He said it was worrisome that while Nigerians were being attacked in South Africa, their nationals were having a field day in Nigeria.
Rep. Rotimi Agunsoye (Lagos-APC) noted that the role of government was to protect the lives and property of citizens at home and abroad, hence, Nigeria must not spare effort at ensuring protection of its nationals.
On her part, Rep. Nnenna Ukeji (Abia-PDP) expressed concern over the rate of arms proliferation in South Africa, which according to her, informed all the atrocities.
She insisted that Nigeria should not relent in ensuring that perpetrators of the heinous act were prosecuted.

Romance › Re: One Simple Way To Know If You Truly Love Someone. by mariesnikz(m): 7:33am On Feb 12, 2018 |
Toks2008: Often times we use the words "I love you" but with a little tilt in the emotional balance,we tend to walk away from the lives of the people we claim to love.
I have heard countless excuses why many couples break up and in most cases, these excuses are lame, unreasonable and indeed as the name implies,an excuse they just want to hold on to in order to carry out their predetermined intent of leaving.
There will always be a reason to stay or leave any romantic union we find ourselves and in most cases, there will be more reasons to leave rather than stay but if you truly love someone, you will make excuses for their flaws and you will meticulously find one reason to remain in their lives.
I hope this makes sense. Ok show me some love peeps. It's my birthday |

plusfield: By May 29, barely three months from now, the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration will be three year old, leaving one year before the expiration of his government. With the presidential election already fixed for February 18th, 2019, its given that by the second half of this year, governance (though there hasnt really been any) will shut down for 'politicking'. Hence, we urge you to name your state and list a project wholly initiated and completed in your state in almost three years. Genocide in Benue. |
Politics › Re: Benue Attack: Lauretta Onochie Blames Nigerians For Not Speaking Against Killing by mariesnikz(m): 8:48am On Jan 11, 2018 |
AllTheWayUp: The Presidency has faulted the killing of about 200 Fulani herdsmen and cattle in various attacks across the country, saying that “every life is valuable.”
She wrote: “Every life is valuable.
“No one has a right to take any life.
“However, we are all silent on the murder of over 200 fulani herdsmen and 2 million cattle We are all caught up in the unfortunate loss of Nigerians on one side of the coin ONLY.
“The other side of the coin with over 200 lives lost, suffers in silence.”
Recall that Ngelzarma, had on Tuesday stressed that those who attacked Benue people were killers not herdsmen.
Ngelzarma said this while absolving his association of the killing allegedly perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen in Benue State. Featuring on Channels Television’s programme, Sunrise Daily, the MACBAN leader maintained that herdsmen are peaceful people and not killers.
The MACBAN leader, who regretted the unfortunate killings, however called for an end to the “senseless killings.”

[quote author=whateverkay post=62355469]This is a clear case of discrimination against the Fulanis. They are Nigerians and have the right to graze their cattles any where in the country. We count on them for meat and milk production but instead of encouraging their business we're banning them. I hope miyetti Allah fights this in court. This is clear injustice : Lemme not quote you |
