OFFICIAL: Ronaldo wins Globe Soccer 2001-2020 Player of the Century award

Cristiano Ronaldo beats Leo Messi and Mohamed Salah to win the Globe Soccer Awards’ Player of the Century, while Bayern Munich’s Hans Flick has won the Coach of the Year award ahead of Gian Piero Gasperini.

The Juventus forward, a five-time Balon d'or winner, smiled on stage in Dubai as he was named the greatest football player from 2001 to 2020.

His latest trophy follows a successful for few weeks for the Portuguese talisman, after he was awarded the Golden Foot award, which was first introduced in 2003, for players aged 28 or above and can only be won by a recipient once in their career.

Despite only being 20 years into the current century, Ronaldo was not the only individual to be celebrated with an award spanning across the 100-year period.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola won the coach of the century award, following his emphatic reigns in charge of Barcelona and Bayern Munich before his move to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes picked up one of the stranger accolades of the ceremony, with the agent of the century trophy.

Ronaldo's former club Real Madrid were labelled as the club of the century, after winning five Champions League titles and seven LaLiga's during the last 20 years.

Other award winners at the ceremony included Champions League winners Bayern Munich, who won the club of the year award for 2020.

The 35-year-old Ronaldo has shown no signs of ageing after he scored a huge 44 goals for club and country in 2020.

Only Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski scored more than the former Real Madrid and Manchester United attacker.

Ronaldo's rival Lionel Messi, who was snubbed at the awards ceremony, fell short of the pair with just 26 goals for Barcelona and Argentina this year.

The Old Lady's frontman has also been making a mark on a more domestic level, after he became just the fourth player in Serie A history to score at least 33 goals in a calendar year after finding the net twice against Parma on December 19.
Ronaldo scored once in each half to see Juventus win 4-0 and move level on points with Inter and one adrift of leaders AC Milan.

Ronaldo's contribution has equalled that of former Juventus forward Omar Sivori from 1961 - who scored the joint-third most goals in a single year behind Gunnar Nordahl in 1950 and Felice Borel in 1933.

11 Jigawa Youths Die In Fatal Road Accident While Going For Nigerian Navy Screening Exam (Photos)

Eleven young men from Gagarawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State have died in a road accident while travelling to Kano for the Nigerian Navy screening examination/Aptitude test, IgbereTV reports.

The accident occurred along Jigawa-Kano road on Saturday, December 12, when their vehicle rammed into a trailer, which was parked wrongly by the road.

It was gathered that the candidates left their homes around 5:00 a.m. hoping to reach their destination on time for the exam.

The Nigerian Navy Apitude Test for the 2020 recruitment exercise was scheduled to take place in Saturday at 30 centres across the nation.

A resident, Abba Muhammad, identified the deceased persons as Auwalu Mohammed; Mutari Sule; Ibrahim Sani; Katimu Muhammad; Dauda Salisu; Musbahu Yakubu, Rabiu Muhammad-Ado; Salim Muhammad-sani; Akibu Ubali-sale; and Murtala Salisu, while another, who died in the hospital, is yet to be identified.

Muhammad, whose brother was among the victims, told news men that reckless driving and nonchalant attitude of the state’s authorities to administer punishment on reckless drivers was responsible for the reoccurring crash on the Gagarawa-Kano Highway.

Spokesperson of the Jigawa State Police Command, Audu Jinjiri, said the accident involved a commercial Golf 3 wagon, with registration number AA 320 TAR, Jigawa, which was conveying twelve passengers to Kano.

The driver, Auwalu Muhammad, 30, was driving from Gagarawa Local Government to Kano with the said passengers. On reaching ‘Abdullahi Masallaci’ rammed into stationed DAF truck, Jinjiri said.

The truck, with registration number DUT 201, Jigawa was parked by one Aminu Hassan, 25, of Mallamadori Local Government Area of Jigawa, after developing a mechanical fault.

“The truck was parked and occupied almost half of an incoming lane as a result ten persons including the driver, lost their lives on the spot, while two others are responding to treatment. One other victim later died in the hospital and all corpses (are) released to relatives for burial," he explained.

The spokesperson said the driver of the truck has been arrested and would be prosecuted soon.

Adamu Muhd Usman shared photos of ten of the victims on Facebook, describing the tragedy as sorrowful moment for the Nigeria and Jigawa state.

Am a very big fan of Rev. Dachomo, but sincerely speaking, that wassnt stealing, there are sins that are worth justified. The government have planned to kill us, we are hungry, struggling to survive at least one square meal while our government have hijacked tons of food meant for us, that act by the government itself is devilish.
Moreover i have finished mine, God have mercy

Has anyone complain of missing a family member yet?
This whole thing is a drama, that was why the military said all those videos and pictures of Lekki toll gate were photo shop and i fully agree with that looking at the fact that so many of those that their pictures were shown, claimed to have been killed came out to debunk such lies.
Let our military do their job and stop harassing them with false allegations.
