Career / 8 Things The Most Successful People Do Every Night by Mariojane(f): 1:30pm On Sep 09, 2016
1. Read to learn.

Growth requires learning, and the more topics you're engaged and interested in, the more effective you can be. But there's rarely time during the workday to feed your mind or learn something new. If you set aside some time to read in the evening, you'll find it's a relaxing way to expand your horizons. As a bonus, it can help you make the transition to a great night's sleep, as long as you read from a book or an e-book with digital ink rather than the screen of a computer or smart device.

2. Spend time with people you care about.

One of the very best ways to nurture yourself is to spend time in the company of people you deeply connect with and care about. These are the people who bring out the best in you, the ones whose support and caring can fuel you through hard times. It doesn't matter if it's friends or family, and it doesn't matter what you do--watching a movie together, taking a walk, or sharing a meal. The point is spending time together.

3. Make time to do nothing.

We spend so much of our time in busy-ness. The best antidote is to spend some time not doing anything. Turn off the screens and the sounds, find a quiet corner, and quiet your mind. You can choose to engage in structured meditation or prayer or just concentrate on your breath. A few moments set aside will center you and keep you focused, and it also promotes good sleep.

4. Take stock.

The end of the day is a great time to take stock of what's been happening. Some people journal, others do a mental walk-through. Either way, ask yourself what's working and what's not, what needs your attention, what developments are significant. It's a natural time to check in, and it keeps key concepts at the top of your mind as you prepare for the next morning.

5. Work out.

Especially if you've spent the entire day at your desk, don't go to bed until you've found a way to move your body. Many people find a hard workout at the gym too stimulating for the evening hours, but a long walk, a yoga class, or even some simple stretches will help your body and leave you relaxed rather than revved up.

6. Reset to refresh.

If an active day of work and decision making leave you drained, find a ritual to help you reset your body and your thoughts so you can symbolically leave it behind instead of carrying today's problems into tomorrow. It may be that one of the habits we've already discussed--especially exercise and meditation--covers this base. If not, try to create a habit that will signal your brain to reset, like taking a bath or having a cup of herbal tea.

7. Get organized.

Do as much as you can in the evening to organize and prepare for the morning. It creates a ritual you can walk through--prepare the coffee, pack anything you need to take with you, set out your clothes. You'll sleep better knowing that the next day is likely to have a calm, effective start.

8. Express gratitude.

Making gratitude a nightly touchstone helps keep you content and happy. You may build it into another practice, like journaling or meditation, or just take a moment to jot down the top five things you're grateful for each evening. Gratitude makes you more positive and optimistic, which in turn helps more good things happen.

Good evening habits are all about unwinding and balance and letting go of the pressures of the day. It's something that pays you back twice--giving you a relaxed, pleasant evening and a more energetic, productive following day.

Career / 9 Things Successful Women Never Do by Mariojane(f): 1:23pm On Sep 09, 2016
1. Successful Women Never Ignore Their Fears

If you want to move up, and ahead, you need to confront your fears head-on. Never waste valuable energy trying to avoid them; instead, use mental toughness to manage your thoughts, emotions, and behavior in ways that will set you up for success in business and life.
Recommended by Forbes
Suppressing a negative feeling only gives it more power, fueling our fears and slowing us down. In fact, trying to control what we fear will increase the likelihood it will happen.

2. Successful Women Never Run From Conflict

As a female FBI agent, I got burned by conflict, criticism, and unfairness—just like everyone else. The difference is that I did not cower into accommodating others to avoid enduring those negative feelings again.

People who shy away from conflict assume that conflict always looks aggressive, overbearing, and disrespectful. This is not true because conflict can camouflage itself in many forms. We need to be alert for any behavior from others that is attempting to manipulate our emotions or thoughts. Once we recognize conflict for what it is, we make a choice on how we respond to it, rather than react out of fear or ignorance.

3. Successful Women Never Listen To Their Inner Critic

I needed to nip that inner critic in the bud and eliminate inner voices of doubt and anxiety. I did this by choosing to focus my attention on positive feedback and constructive criticism—limited as it might be at times.

Mental toughness is being able to control how your mind thinks, rather than letting your mind control you. The key is learning how to manage your emotions with self-talk and using the right (and positive) words when controlling your thoughts.

4. Successful Women Never Expect Perfect Circumstances

Forget about finding the perfect job or waiting for perfect conditions before making a leap. Learn to differentiate between the pain of growing and the pain of suffering.

It’s easy to say that conditions are poor, nothing is going your way, and that you’ve been dealt an unfair hand. These are all excuses as you move further down the road of surrender.

Use what is at your disposal to keep moving forward in life—take a tip from MacGyver and learn to make the best of your situation. Mental toughness is approaching your circumstances with the right perspective and not expecting a break.

5. Successful Women Never Look At Their Past As A Mistake

I made a lot of mistakes as a new agent. At times it was embarrassing, but I vowed to learn from each one of them.

Some mistakes from our past can be painful or bad, but instead of wallowing in misery, look at them as opportunities to learn something that you didn’t know before it happened. Walk beside friends and colleagues who have made mistakes—you can learn from them, too.

The past does not define us, it simply prepares us for our journey toward success and wisdom.

6. Successful Women Never Miss Opportunities To Shine

I knew that many times the best way to be successful was to do what others were unwilling to do.

Identify those things that others hesitate to take on. It can be small and simple—it doesn’t matter. Whatever it is, do it well and you will instantly differentiate yourself from the pack.

Then keep going because you never know where it will lead; often, we don’t know what opportunity looks like until we’re closer to it.

7. Successful Women Never Fail To Keep Their Cool

No matter my situation, I knew I was in total control of my life.

One of my favorite quotes is from St. Ignatius of Loyola: “Pray as if God will take care of all; act as if all is up to you.”

Many people make excuses for themselves by saying luck determines whether they are successful or not. Mentally strong leaders are in control of their own luck because they see success or failure as something over which they are in control. Luck may have had some role in their present circumstances, but they don’t waste mental energy by worrying about what might happen.

Control your own luck by seizing opportunities to improve your life and situation. The result will either be a lucky break or the regret of a road not taken.

8. Successful Women Never Fail To Do Their Research

When I interviewed a suspect, I made sure I knew what I was talking about.

When you are meeting with potential investors, clients or customers, make sure you know what you are talking about—know where the landmines are before you open your mouth.

Do your homework; be polished, poised, and prepared.

9. Successful Women Never Say Quit

No matter how hard the investigation or how difficult the assignment, “quit” was the only four letter word I never heard in my 24 years in the FBI.

When you say “quit” or “can’t,” you are sacrificing ownership and control over your attitude and behavior. It shows you have created your own boundaries. When you say quit, you are sending a message about your fear of failure and a lack of grit in testing your limits.

I didn't bother to look at the film category, I don't watch naija films FFS
either you rate them high or watch Nigeria movies or not that will not reduce their bank account or stop them from Taking their awards. Millions of people watch them so if you donot then it won't change anything nd they don't even know or care about you

Cool guy.

Was he not just sued?now back to why I am here, and this question is to my Catholic friends.

So the Catholics if they want to pray to God,will have to pray through her now?with words like Mother Theresa pray for us?

Team Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church.

the same way you call your pastors and knee before them saying 'pray for you' is the say way catholic say pray for them. or is the statement too complex to understand?

mountain of fire? though i don't condemn people religion or churches but una no suppose to dey talk. your church do not believe anything is natural. they believe everything has connection to their village place of birth. if a child is stubborn they will say is the devil. if you fight with your neighbour you will start invoking fire or him or her.
my boss is a mountain of fire's member or Pastor and some of his prayer point at times scares the devil himself. what happen to praying for your enemies repentant and not always consuming them by fire. who go envy you when you become rich when you ve killed all of them by fire. you shout fire for your enemy, do you know you are someone's enemy? if na like that enemies dey die then there won't be anyone on earth.

Politics / Re: How Can One Legally Own Fire Arm In Nigeria? by Mariojane(f): 10:52pm On Aug 29, 2016
Jakumo:

This write up is a fascinating work of fiction that is totally incorrect, from the standpoint of ballistic reality. Clearly the writer of this factually erroneous description has never owned a real gun in his life, but hopes to impress similarly unenlightened readers by baffling them with bullchit accumulated from playing video games and watching old war movies.

A pump action SHOTGUN unleashes a horrific flesh-mangling blast at point-blank ranges within 20 yards, BUT, those pellets only possess a MAXIMUM lethal range of 50 yards at best. Any target beyond 50 yards that is hit by shotgun pellets has a very good chance of escaping with small pellet wounds, and at ranges beyond 100 yards, shotgun pellets may not even retain sufficient energy to penetrate clothing. As a hunter who has used a pump action shotgun to down quarry ranging from fast-flying birds to sprinting deer, I happen to know what I am talking about, from personal experience over many, many years.

A rifle projectile, on the other hand, is capable of blasting gaping holes in flesh, and shattering bone, all the way out to 1 kilometer downrange, depending on the caliber of the projectile fired. The venerable AK47, chambered with the 7.62x39mm cartridge, is a devastating weapon capable of precision fire out to ranges in the region of 80 yards, beyond which accuracy drops off significantly, unless of course the rifle is fitted with a telescopic sight that improves accuracy, such that 200 yard shots can be attempted by steady-handed shooters. My .308 caliber deer rifle, fitted with a high magnification telescopic sight, will make clean deer kills well out beyond 350 yards, when fired from a stable resting position.

Having thoroughly tested the accuracy of an AK47 rifle at the firing range where many crates of ammo were expended at paper targets, I can lay claim to a very deep familiarity with the AK, going beyond mere shooting, and into the realm of complete disassembly and reassembly, which I perform blindfolded with ease, meaning that my observations about this weapon ALSO derive from EXTENSIVE hands-on experience, and not wild, uninformed speculation.

Before taking to the internet to make outlandish claims about subjects one does not truly understand, it would be prudent to bear in mind that not everyone in the targeted audience is guaranteed to be as profoundly ignorant as the pontificating writer.
your comment and your name re very scary
Properties / Re: Nigerian Guests And The Overstaying Syndrome. by Mariojane(f): 10:30pm On Aug 29, 2016
He just stayed a month na, Let him stay a little bit longer.

My experience
When I was in Pre degree, my secondary mate who was in 100l then came to beg me to squat with me for just a week for her to look for accommodation. I invited her with my own pure heart. She was eating my food and her foodstuffs were in a very big Ghana must go(biggest size) untouchable. I got her an extra matress from one of my roommates for her to lay on the floor (it was a big room with 4 bunkspace nd enough space to put your things) I noticed she wasn't ready to leave after one week and my foodstuffs was finishing.I searched her big Ghana must go bag and I started bringing out things to cook, she wasn't happy but I don't care. She will rush to my bunk @night to sleep before I return to the hostel for me to sleep on the floor. You won't believe she stayed with me all through the semester I never mind. We wrote our exams before them so I traveled home. When I resumed back to school to pay for my bed space, she already brought her sister to stay with her and she has paid for the bed space without telling me. I just look elsewhere for accommodation.

There is another case with a friend of mine that his friend told him he was just coming to visit, before you know it, he went home to bring more cloths. To make matter worse, he will invite his gf over and they will both stay in the room while the owner of the room sleeps in the sitting room.

OP you can try asking him for feeding money I promise you he won't stay another week before he will disappear. If he says he doesn't have insist on it.
