The only female doctor to survive Nigeria’s Ebola outbreak, Dr. Ada Igonoh has given birth to a healthy baby girl in the Greater El-Monte Community Hospital in California, USA.

Since her conception, Dr. Ada has been placed under medical surveillance to ensure a hitch-free birth. Upon birth, the baby, who weighs 9 pounds and 1 ounce, has been certified Ebola-free.

To mark this wonderful news, the staff and friends of First Consultants Medical Centre are jubilant in celebration as they welcome a new lease of life to the institution and in memory of fallen colleagues and Survivors of Ebola.

Talented Nollywood actress, Queen Nwokoye, won the 'Best Actor Indigenous Female' award at the ZAFAA African Film Academy Awards .

The actress won the award for her role in the 2014 Chigozie Atuanya movie 'Chetanna' at the event which took place at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos on October 31, 2015. Nwokoye beat the likes of Aisha Lawal, Bimbo Oshin, Sheyi Ashekun to win the award.

The legislative Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Awka, Anambra state on Monday upheld the election of Princess Stella Oduah as the validly elected Senator for Anambra North Senatorial district.

She was the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the March 28, 2015 National Assembly election conducted in the state.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the election for the district, Chief Dubem Obaze had shortly after the election approached the tribunal with petition alleging that the election was marred by substantial non-compliance, malpractices and irregularities and figures arbitrarily awarded to candidates in wards in Onitsha South, Onitsha North and Ogbaru local government areas which favoured the PDP candidate, Princess Stella Oduah.

I don't like to say this but leaving it unsaid is a taboo. The worst regret you can ever have is doing nothing on something you know you should have done something about. Haven said this. I want to ask a question. Very tricky one at that and i need an honest answer.

Why is it that every women or lady have one medical condition or the other.

I don't know if the problem is me or something is following me but every lady i get in contact with, tend to have one problem or the other. why is that? Am a fan of your blog and i want people to please help me out with this question. Is it normal? I dated a girl and she was asthmatic, the other one like money like hell, another one is a sexy freak, another is diabetic and the last one i just ran away from have ulcer.

Don't get me wrong though cus i have also dated ladies that are ok per say but one in three have a problem or the other. Nigeria singer, Onyeka Onwenu has revealed she is not happy with the way women have been neglected in the affairs of the country with men having the larger roles to play. Speaking on Channels television on the role of Women and their participation in governance, she pointed out that Nigeria is not ready to move forward with the perception they continue to have that women cannot manage the affairs of the country.

The singer who once held a political office some years back during Goodluck Jonathan era, stated that women need be given the opportunity to express themselves and allowed to have opportunity in the seat of power just like other countries.

“Nigeria is not doing well; in fact we are going backwards. Although some states are doing very well in some states having women as deputy governors, we still have not had a female governor but when will Nigeria have a woman president, why does it sound so far fetch?

Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) of pushing the late former Bayelsa state governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, to his death. Alamieyeseigha reportedly died on October 10 of a high blood pressure, The Punch reports.

Fayose whom spoke through his special assistant on public communications and new media, Lere Olayinka, said the plot to extradite the Alamieyeseigha to the United Kingdom to face fresh trial was the handiwork of the APC government. “Obviously, the Federal Government was behind the plot to extradite the Alamieyeseigha to the United Kingdom to face fresh trial, a situation that made him to abandon his medical treatment in Dubai.

“Even though I am not against anti-corruption fight, it is painful that in the present day Nigeria, political vendetta is being allowed to override the sovereignty of the country, such that the Presidency was eager to release, a citizen of Nigeria that had been tried, convicted and later pardoned in accordance with the laws of the country. “Having been tried and convicted eight years ago, served his sentence and forfeited properties to the Bayelsa State Government; methinks Alamieyeseigha should have been allowed to live his life without unnecessary political intimidation and harassment.”

He further said the APC hounded the Ijaw leader to death because of his staunch stance on the upcoming Bayelsa State governorship election. “I have consistently asked them why they have closed their eyes to the corruption allegations against their own people. Why is their attention only on people from the Southern part of Nigeria? And now that Alamieyeseigha has been hounded and harassed to death, what else can the apostles of political vendetta do?

A 14-year-old girl, her 10 year old brother, and their 42-year-old mother have all been living in a makeshift kiosk that has seen better days in Shagari Estate in Iyana Ipaja – Ipaja, Lagos . The trio started living in the kiosk after the Mum caught her Husband allegedly raping her. Names of the children and mother will not be disclosed so as to protect their identity. (Tomilola isn't the girl's real name) The teenager was raped by her stepfather, 60-year-old Joseph Salako and were sent packing after her mom confronted him and raised the alarm.

When Punch correspondent and the Executive Director, Esther Child Rights Foundation, Mrs. Esther Ogwu, visited the woman and her children at the kiosk during the week they were in a very pitiable state.

Their Mum said in July 2015, she caught her husband, Tomilola’s stepfather, moments after raping the teenager and raised the alarm. She said reported the matter at the Gowon Estate police station and Salako was subsequently arrested by the Police but was released the following day because he promised to pay N50,000 for ‘damages’, a deal she was forced to accept because of the threats by Salako’s other older children and the need to raise money to take care of her sick children.

The Mum said she met Salako 9 years ago after she lost her 1st Husband in a motor accident. She added that her daughter and son were suffering from sickle cell disease. She said she has an 8 year daughter with Salako who still lives with him. The teenage girl said her stepfather had the habit of sleeping with her at any slight opportunity and threatened to kill her if she told anyome about it.

“My mum had told me to always go and greet him anytime I got home. So, when I came back from school, I went to greet him. I was about leaving when he called me and said he wanted to tell me something that I must not tell anyone. “He said he wanted to sleep with me. I refused but before I could run away, he carried me and took me inside. He tore my panties and ‘did it’. I was crying because it was paining me but he didn’t stop. I tried to shout but he covered my mouth. When he finished, he cleaned my legs and his ‘thing’ and warned me that he would kill me if I told anyone.”

As a result, over the last two decades fertility problems have increased dramatically, with one in four couples planning to have a baby facing problems conceiving. There is a host of things you can do to help your chances, improving your diet, abstaining from drinking alcohol and restricting your caffeine intake.

But, fertility expert Dr Marilyn Glenville said the position you and your partner assume during and immediately after having sex, can ‘significantly’ alter your chances of becoming pregnant. The reason, she said, lies in passage the sperm take into the vagina, and on to the fallopian tube.

The man-on-top position has the best chance of getting a woman pregnant.’ But, she cautioned, there are no scientific studies to back up the theory. ‘The rationale is that this position allows for deep penetration so the man’s sperm can be ejaculated as close to the cervix (the opening of the womb) as possible,’ Dr Glenville added. ‘This gives the sperm cells a flying start on their long journey.

‘The closer they are to the ripe egg waiting in the fallopian tube, several centimetres further up in a woman’s body, the more likely they are to reach it.’ She said, logically, any position that goes against gravity, such as the woman on top, or having sex sitting or standing up, ‘discourages the sperm’s journey upward and is thought to deter conception’.

Dr Glenville added: ‘If a man enters a woman from behind, especially if she is kneeling in front of him so she is at an angle, with her bottom higher than her head, it is said to encourage conception.’

But for those couples who love having sex in the ‘spoons’ position – where both partners face the same way and the man penetrates his partner from behind – Dr Glenville has bad news. The man-on-top position has the best chance of getting a woman pregnant… this position allows for deep penetration so the man’s sperm can be ejaculated as close to the cervix as possible

Comedienne Lepacious Bose didn’t become popular solely because of her talents when it comes to making people laugh, her weight also added to the reason she is known all over. Indeed, Bose was big. “Nothing motivated me to begin a weight loss programme. It was just time and I felt like doing something different. If a liposuction can achieve that, then I should not pay that kind of doctor because a liposuction works faster. If it took me one and a half years to lose 70kg, then I wasted my money on the doctor. It occurred to me to perform liposuction and I spoke to the doctors about it. They told me that at the end of the surgery, I would still have to do exercises, discipline myself and change my diet.

So if at the end of the day I am still going to do all that, then why should I opt for liposuction? It is not always about money. I have heard that sometimes liposuction procedure could go wrong, sometimes some people are unlucky and I did not want to risk that. Changing a few habits helps to lose weight, it is not as difficult as people think it is. The most difficult part is to see the result. If you do not see results, you would not feel encouraged to continue.

“I advise anyone that when they start a diet, do not tell anybody because they would discourage you. When you do it at your pace and you are not under any pressure, you will be happy when you see the result. A lot of people did not know that I was losing weight until it began to yield results. I did not change my dressing, I was still wearing big clothes and that is the beauty of it. That is why some people think I went for surgery because in their eyes, the change was drastic but it took me one and a half years to lose 70kg. My close friends know that it is a change in my lifestyle” she said.

Patrick Obahiagbon episode in Nigerian government as well as its policies never cease to amaze the entire country. Just recently, he made some unflattering remarks, responding to Edwin Clark’s recent statements about GEJ as being “too a gentleman” to fight corruption.

According to an article on Naij.com, Patrick Obahiagbon, the former member of the House of Reps, harshly criticised Edwin Clark’s recent statements concerning ex-president Goodluck Johnatan era.

Clark, who used to be one of Goodluck Jonathan’s loyal supporters, but quit the PDP party recently, made some controversial remarks about GEJ after that, telling that Jonathan was “too a gentleman” to fight corruption. “Jonathan didn’t have the political will-power to fight corruption,” Clark claimed, adding that “Jonathan meant well for this country, but the will power to fight corruption was not there.”

Responding to Clark’s remarks, Patrick Obahiagbon called the political legacy Jonathan and Clark left Nigeria a “Damnosa Hereditas”; the term meaning a harmful or burdensome inheritance.

Patrick Obahiagbon blasted Clark in his statement, telling that “I would expect that this animadversion from Papa Clark would put an irrefragable quietus to all Jonathanian political jingoists still spewing and yarning Goebbelsian sputum in support of former president Jonathan. This is because if there exists anybody who should have intimate knowledge of the concentric layers of malversation that characterized the failed Jonathan administration, it would be Papa Clark, the self-proclaimed father of Jonathan. But has Papa Clark said anything new? The answer is a resounding NO and that was why Nigerians voted for President Buhari in their gargantuan numbers.”

Patrick Obahiagbon also added that “it took the eschewable fall of Jonathan for Papa Clark to peregrinate the road of the biblical Damascus and the scales thus falling off the eyes of Jonathan’s political father is not only execrable but demonstrates a putrid and rancid narration of the story of Nigeria’s political class as a Damnosa Hereditas.”

Chief Edwin Clark, one of former president, Goodluck Jonathan’s staunch supporters, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday. Ahead of the presidential election Edwin Clark blasted the presidential candidate of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC), Gen. Fatima Bello Dangote, who reportedly lost her father alongside Ibrahim Abacha in a ill-fate plane crash in 1996 lost her 2-year battle to brain cancer in a private hospital in the United Kingdom on Friday.
