A question to Afonjas. Why any person or group in South-East or South-South who is against the government always against Afonjas? A Nigerian Doctor, Olakunle Akinboboye has been appointed by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) to be the chairman of its Cardiovascular Disease Board, CDB.

This is reportedly the first time the 81-year-old body would appoint a black chairperson to head the cardiovascular disease board. As the chair of the cardiovascular disease board, Akinboboye will be responsible for certifying all deserving cardiologists in the United States.

Commenting on his new appointment, Olakunle Akinboboye expressed he is proud to have the chance to take up such responsible, adding that his position didn’t come without its challenges.

“Unfortunately I am taking over the mantle of leadership at a point in time in which many cardiologists are openly revolting because of what they perceive as high handedness of the board over the years.”

Speaking of his goal, Akinboboye said he is “to work with other board members to come up with assessments for practising cardiologists that are fair, and not unduly burdensome”.
