I was just watching Reminisce's 'Local Rappers' video yesterday, and was thinking of how far Nigerian rappers have come in the last couple of years. Things are now looking good for Naija rappers, and they don't have to sound foreign to be accepted.

I decided to put a list together, naming who I consider the TOP 5 HOTTEST rappers in Nigeria right now. Yup! Here goes.

5. Ice Prince

4. M.I

3. Phyno

2. Reminisce

1. Olamide

What do you think? You disagree with any placement? As I always say when I put lists like this up; this is the HOTTEST rappers in the game list, and not the most lyrical rappers in the game list. I believe these 5 guys I have mentioned are the hottest in the game right now, in 2015. Ice Prince has had a long stretch for the past 4 years, but I think they slowed things down at Choc City for him, so that his label mate, M.I can get some shine too with his latest album. Olamide and Phyno have been killing shit consistently for years now, but in the last couple of months, Reminisce has been bringing that fire. I would put him at number one, but Olamide's work ethic is just insane.

PoliticsBuhari Promises Improved Power Supply by markwil(op): 6:06am On Jun 30, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday promised that his administration would give the highest possible priority to the rapid improvement of power supply across the country.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President spoke while granting audience to officials of CGGC, the Chinese construction company working on the Mambilla Power Project.

Adesina quoted the President as saying that it was quite regrettable that power generation in the country had failed to keep pace with national needs over the years.

To salvage the situation, Buhari said his administration would ensure that the Mambilla project and other unfinished hydro-power projects in the country were completed expeditiously in order to boost electricity supply in the country.

He was quoted as saying, “I am very much interested in Mambilla and other hydro-power projects, not only for the improvement of power, but also for irrigation, as both power and irrigation projects will help to improve the lives of Nigerians.

“I am going to ask for details of the Mambilla hydro-power project and others. Very soon, we will get together and redefine the project agreements for faster results.”

The Managing Director, CGGC, Mr. Zhang Heng, who led his company’s delegation, was also reported to have told the President that work on the Mambilla project was being delayed by the failure of previous administrations to provide the counterpart funding specified in the agreement with the Chinese government.

The CGGC delegation was accompanied to the Presidential Villa by Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State. Source Punchnews

Nairaland GeneralThe Best Christmas Gift by markwil(op): 3:36pm On Dec 17, 2013
The actions of men are the best interpreters
of their thoughts – John Locke
Welcome to the season of caring and sharing.
It is a season in which we endeavour to show
love to the people around us by giving them
gifts. Many of us would also receive gifts in
cash and in kind. Most of the gifts we will
receive may not last beyond a few weeks or
months but we will treasure the memory. Yet,
there are more enduring gifts that we can
give ourselves and give to others.
In addition, real estate has great income and
wealth creation potential. You can generate
regular cash flow if you invest in residential
or commercial property rentals. The regular
income that this will generate is an important
aspect of your wealth creation plan. While
enjoying this, the property also will begin to
appreciate in value. This goes with less risk
when you compare it with other investments.
Even in tough times, real estate may reduce
in value but will ultimately go up in value.
Unlike many other investments, its value is
seldom totally wiped out.
One of the most profound pieces of wealth
creation advice ever given has been ‘pay
yourself first.’ In one of the classic books on
wealth creation, entitled, ‘The Richest Man In
Babylon,’ George S. Clason explained the need
to set aside a portion of all that you earn for
yourself. And if you are one of those who have
been following this rule, may I recommend
that you consider using your savings as seed
money for the purpose of buying a piece of
real estate.
Every parent knows the joy of giving their
children a surprise gift that the child will
treasure and every adult can remember the
best gifts they have been given at one time or
the other. As we approach another season of
giving and sharing, I would like to suggest to
you the need to begin to invest in real estate
on your children’s behalf now or at a later
time.
Wise parents invest in things that would give
their children an advantage over their peers
in life. One of such investments most of us
recognise the need to do on their behalf is
that of giving them quality education. We
know that it gives them a good head start in
life and that could make all the difference in
the game of life.
Most famous families that we know, whose
wealth has transcended several generations,
hold a significant portion of their wealth in
real estate. And if you intend to do the same,
then you need to give your children the
knowledge they need to be able to invest in
and manage real estate later in life.
One of the gifts you can give your child this
season is that of a good book on real estate
investment and taking the time to discuss the
key principles that govern this type of
investment. You should carefully explain the
various advantages real estate investment
has over other types of investments such as
its stability and overall possibility of
outperforming other forms of investment
such as stocks due to its general ability to
absorb inflation. It is also limited in supply
and generally will continue to be in demand.
You can begin to invest in real estate on your
child’s behalf by buying a property or
properties in his or her name. A property that
you buy in a child’s name is technically yours
until the child can legally own a property or
you legally transfer the title to the child or
any other person you wish through the use of
instruments such as a Will or Deed of gift.
By law, a minor cannot enter into a legally
binding contract and majority of them also do
not have the resources to acquire properties.
And thus, the title, ownership and possession
often reside in you the parent. This does not,
in any way, limit your right to sell the
property or transfer it to someone else if you
need to.
This is also the usual period when co-
operatives and investment groups attempt to
balance their accounts and reward faithful
subscribers. It is a time when significant
decisions as to the future of such groups are
made. Coincidentally, this is also one of the
best times to buy properties. If you are part
of such a group, you may wish to consider the
possibility of using this year’s income as the
seed capital for real estate investment.
Finally, as we are about closing the last
chapter of this year, it is worth challenging
yourself to apply a few of the real estate
investment principles that we have discussed
in this column. I reckon that it is time to
make this Christmas very special and
memorable not only for yourself, but also for
your loved ones. There is never a better time
than now to do what you should have done
yesterday.

Nairaland GeneralASUU Calls Off Strike, Apologises To Journalists. by markwil(op): 3:09pm On Dec 17, 2013
The Academic Staff Union of Universities on
Tuesday called off its over five months old
strike after deliberations that started on
Monday morning and lasted till the early hours
of Tuesday.
The Union’s President Dr. Nasir Fagge, told
journalists at the press briefing, which held
at the Science Complex building of the
Federal University of Technology, Bosso
Campus, Minna, Niger State, that it accepted
the resolutions signed between ASUU and the
Federal Government on the 11th December,
2013 with the President of Nigeria Labour
Congress.
“Finally, NEC resolved to suspend the strike
embarked upon on 1st July 2013, with effect
from Tuesday December 17th, 2013 and
directs its branches to resume work
forthwith”, he said.
Fagge however condemned some universities’
Vice Chancellors, who tried to sabotage the
efforts of the Union.
According to him, “We condemn, without any
reservation, Vice Chancellors, who made
efforts to undermine and, in some cases,
attempted, to break ASUU’s strike”.
Fagge said as part of its expectation, the
National Executive Committee expects the
government to implement fully the resolutions
reached and signed with the Union.
He said, “First we expect that
implementation monitoring committee which
has already been constituted to the
satisfaction of government and ASUU, will
work assiduously so that the process of
revitalisation of Nigerian universities will
receive the much needed boost, and our
students and their parents will begin to see
the fruits of the ASUU struggles.
“Our members expect the immediate
beginning of the revitalisation process, given,
the letter FME/PS/398/C.I/Vol 1.1/110, of
12th December 2013, titled ‘Opening of a
Dedicated Account for the Revitalisation of
Nigerian Universities.”
Earlier, the ASUU President apologised to the
Nigerian Union of Journalists especially the
journalists, who were assaulted by some of
the university lecturers on Monday at the
FUT, permanent campus, Minna.
Fagge said, “I apologise to you for what
transpired yesterday; it is not in our habit to
chase away the press. We felt mosquitoes
were biting you guys and you were outside in
the cold.
“Please, whatever transpired between you
(media) and ASUU was not in our nature, on
behalf of the NEC and the whole ASUU, I
tender an unreserved apology.”

Nairaland GeneralThings To Consider When Renting A House by markwil(op): 3:48pm On Dec 16, 2013
Renting a house can provide you more privacy
than renting an apartment. To make sure you
have a good experience, take your time and
think through your lifestyle objectives and
your responsibilities to your landlord. Moving
into a new place can turn into a nightmare
quickly if you have expectations that are not
based on fundamental realities. Asking a lot of
questions before you sign the dotted line can
save you from trouble later.
Your budget
Take a hard look at your finances to
determine your ability to make ends meet.
Add up your monthly sources of income and
make sure you have adequate cash reserve in
your savings account if something goes wrong.
In addition to your rental payments, budget
for utilities, water and garbage expenses.
How much will you spend on food? It’s far less
expensive to cook at home than to drop in at a
fast-food restaurant. Set limits on extras
that can quickly take a dent out of your cash
flow. You’ll have commuting expenses, such as
car maintenance, fuel, insurance and licence
fees. Your personal expenses include laundry,
personal care items, clothing and gifts. It’s
probably better to over-estimate your
spending to give yourself a spending cushion.
Roommates
You can certainly cut your expenses by sharing
your house with roommates. Living together
can ruin a perfectly good friendship, however.
Compatibility issues you never imagined can
rear their ugly heads easily when you share a
living space. Does your prospective roommate
have a history of paying bills on time? You’ll
want to trust your roommate to enter into a
partnership with you to share expenses, but
also to meet other living obligations. A
roommate may not hold to the same standard
of cleanliness as you do. You may enjoy quiet
evenings at home in front of the TV. Your
roommate may prefer to invite friends into
your home for frequent parties. Have a
serious conversation about such issues with
your prospective roommate before you
cement your obligation.
The house
Take a good look at the house you want to
rent. Consider the time it will take to get to
work or school or the distance. Ask about the
utility costs and if any are included in your
rent payment. Check out stairways for lights
and security. Neighbourhoods can project a
distinct personality. Try to get a sense for
the kind of neighbours you’ll have. Consider
nearby shopping opportunities and restaurant
options if you enjoy the occasional meal out.
Discuss home maintenance with the landlord.
Will you care for the yard, and if so, does the
landlord provide lawn tools? Who do you call
when an appliance fails, and how quickly will
the landlord respond to home emergencies?
Rental agreement
Your landlord will probably ask for credit
references, personal references and your
employment history. If you include a copy of
your credit report with your application, you
may gain an edge over other prospective
renters. Your rental lease binds you legally to
the terms it outlines. Read it carefully and
make sure you understand everything you
agree to when you sign the papers. If you are
sharing the rent with a roommate, your
signature could make you liable for your
roommate’s property damages or non-payment
of rental obligations. Go through the house
with your landlord and make a list of existing
damages before you sign the lease. Ask your
landlord to sign the list and keep a copy in
your files.

RomanceThe Strength Of A Powerful Ejaculation by markwil(op): 8:46pm On Dec 14, 2013
Many times, a good number of my clients are
worried about their sexual stamina,
ejaculation performances, sexual fertility
strength and erectile potency. They ask
questions and most of the answers to these
questions depend greatly on the strength of a
powerful ejaculation. When the development
of ejaculation processing, production and
delivery is in very healthy form, every other
thing just naturally falls in place. So today, let
us look at the strength of a powerful
ejaculation.
Ejaculation, which is a normal part of the male
sexual response cycle, is the release or
ejection of semen from the penis into the
vagina. It is typically accompanied by orgasm
and it usually carries sperm from the male
reproductory tract. During sexual
intercourse, semen collects in the ejaculatory
ducts. When stimulation reaches its peak, a
spinal reflex causes the rhythmic
contractions of the smooth muscles within the
urethra, penis and the prostate gland, and
propels the semen through the urethra out of
the tip of the penis in spurts. The first
ejaculation in men often occurs about 12
months after the onset of puberty, generally
through nocturnal emission (wet dreams). This
first semen volume is small. The semen
produced during early puberty is also typically
clear. After ejaculation, this early semen
remains jellylike unlike semen from mature
males.
Once a man reaches a certain point of sexual
arousal, he can no longer prevent ejaculation.
This feeling of having reached the brink of
control once contractions start is known as
ejaculatory inevitability. The rhythmic
contractions of the prostate, perineal
muscles and shaft of the penis occur initially
at 0.8-second intervals, just as in women, and
account for the spurting action of the semen
during ejaculation. The intervals between
contractions become longer and the intensity
of the contractions spills off after the first
three or four contractions.
The semen does not actually appear until a
few seconds after the point of ejaculatory
inevitability because of the distance the
seminal fluid has to travel through the
urethra. During ejaculation, the internal
sphincter of the urinary bladder is tightly
sealed to make sure that the seminal fluid
travels forward and to prevent any urine
from mixing with the semen. Male ejaculation
and orgasm are not one and the same process;
although in most men and under most
circumstances, the two occur simultaneously.
Orgasm refers specifically to the sudden and
rhythmic muscular contractions in the pelvic
region that release accumulated sexual
tension and result in an intensely pleasurable
sensation. Sometimes, ejaculation occurs
involuntarily and unknown to the man during
sleep. This is known as nocturnal emission or,
in slang terms as a “wet dream” and is
particularly common in teenagers and
adolescents.
Although in some cases, the fine-tuned
process of this sexual response of a good
ejaculation could be disrupted. It is this
disruption that affects the sexual stamina,
ejaculation performances, sexual fertility
strength and erectile potency. Such condition
is called retrograde ejaculation. In this type
of condition, the bladder’s sphincter does not
close off properly during ejaculation, so
semen spurts backward into the bladder. This
condition is usually found in some men who
have multiple sclerosis, diabetes, or after
some types of prostate surgery. It can also
occasionally occur in men who do not have any
serious problems. It is not physically harmful,
but it does render the man infertile and he
may have a different sensation during
ejaculation. A retrograde ejaculation is also
known as a “dry come” because the man may
experience orgasm, but no semen is released
from the penis. Premature ejaculation is
another disrupting condition. This condition is
also known as rapid ejaculation. It is a sexual
response problem in which a man consistently
feels he has little or no control over the
timing of his build-up to ejaculation. This is
when ejaculation occurs before the desired
time. If a man is unable to ejaculate in a
timely manner after prolonged sexual
stimulation, in spite of his desire to do so, it
is called delayed ejaculation or anorgasmia. An
orgasm that is not accompanied by ejaculation
is known as a dry orgasm. We also do have
retarded ejaculation which is also known as
delayed ejaculation. This condition is a sexual
response problem also known as ejaculatory
incompetence in which a man is unable to
ejaculate even though he is highly sexually
aroused.
Another big question is, do ladies ejaculate?
Does it have anything to do with good sexual
performance, erectile strength of the
partner, libidinal stamina and fertility?
Female ejaculation is the expulsion of fluid by
the para-urethral ducts through and around
the female urethra during or before an
orgasm. It is also known as gushing or
squirting. The exact source and nature of the
fluid is still a topic of debate among medical
professionals, while surveys I conducted in my
office indicated that 35–50 per cent of
women report that they have at some time
experienced the gushing of fluid during
orgasm. This fluid may come from a “female
prostate,” this is the rudimentary glands
surrounding the urethra whose tissue
corresponds to the male prostate gland. This
may suggest that the female prostate is the
anatomical location of the center of gravity. Not all
researchers have been able to duplicate the
female ejaculatory response in their studies.
But not all women experience the ejaculation-
like response during sexual activities, the
estimation vary between 10 and 40 per cent
from the number of women who have ever
experienced ejaculation. Therefore, women
ejaculation enhances sexual stimulation and
orgasm more than fertilization aids. Next
week we shall be discussing some natural
exercises that produce good ejaculation. Until
then, I remain your bedroom instructor.

PoliticsObasanjo Writes Jonathan, Says Nigeria Is Bleeding by markwil(op): 7:59pm On Dec 11, 2013
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said
Nigeria is bleeding and needs urgent
attention to save it.
Obasanjo, in an 18-page letter, dated
Decemer 2, 2013, also expressed his utter
disgust at the way President Goodluck
Jonathan, is directing the affairs of the
country.
While the President was away in Pretoria,
South Africa, along with world leaders to take
part in the memorial service organised for
the late South African former President,
Nelson Mandela, the scathing letter went
public.
It copiously portrayed Jonathan as an inept
leader leading the country on the path of
destruction.
Titled ‘Before it is too late’, Obasanjo did not
mince words as the author in him showed
forth in his careful use of words, selected to
drive home his grief in the way the country is
now being run.
“I could sense a semblance between the
situation that we are gradually getting into
and the situation we fell into as a nation
during the (late Sani) Abacha era,” he said.
Acknowledging Jonathan’s recognition of him
as “third after God and your parents among
those that have impacted most” on the
president’s life, Obasanjo used the medium to
further divulge communication that hitherto
would have remained personal issues.
“I have had opportunity, in recent times, to
interact closely with you and I have come to
the conclusion painfully or happily that if you
can shun yourself to a great extent of
personal and political interests and dwell
more on the national interest and also draw
the line between advice from selfish and self-
centered aides and advice from those who in
the interest of the nation may not tell you
what you will want to hear, it will be well,” he
said.
The former presidents puts the crisis rocking
the Peoples Democratic Party squarely on the
President, accusing the PDP Chairman, Alhaji
Bamanga Tukur, of merely following the tune
of the piper, in this case that of the
president.
According to him, the real cause of the crisis
became clear, “when the national chairman
spoke out that he never did anything or acted
in any way without the approval or
concurrence of the party leader.”
Obasanjo accused the president of being a
paymaster acting for a definitive purpose for
which deceit and deception seem to be the
major ingredients.
The former president’s accusation also
bothered on tribalism, ethnic sentiment and
selfish ambition.

PetsHow To Control Ticks On Pets by markwil(op): 6:27am On Nov 29, 2013
Ticks are small spider-like insects (arachnids)
that bite to fasten themselves on to the skin
and feed on blood. These tiny creatures do
not have wings to fly and they cannot jump.
They are ground dwelling pests that can hide
in tall grasses, plants and cracks in wood.
They always wait patiently for a host to walk
by, which very well could be your pet. As your
pet strolls through the grass, a tick climbs on
its body and scurries to a dark spot, such as
the point where the legs and body meet,
between the toes, and in the ears, to feed on
your pet’s blood.
Can ticks transmit diseases?
Ticks have the potential to carry and
transmit a remarkable array of pathogens,
including bacteria, spirochetes, rickettsie,
protozoa, viruses and nematodes. A single bite
can transmit multiple pathogens which can
cause disease.
The group of disease that can be transmitted
by ticks are called ‘Tick-borne diseases’. A
few examples include; Babesiosis, also known
as tick fever, Erlichiosis, Tick paralysis,
Anaplasmosis and more, to mention but a few.
Some symptoms of these diseases include
fever, lethargy, lameness, weakness, anaemia,
joint swelling, paralysis and death.
However, please ensure that you do not crush
ticks. When you crush ticks, they will multiply.
The mechanism for this is simple. Ticks like
every other insect and animal, have internal
organs. Some of these organs make up their
reproductive system, which contains hundreds
of eggs at different stages of development.
When you crush ticks, you rupture their
bodies and spill out their digestive system
which contains the blood that is visibly seen.
The reproductive system which contains
hundreds of eggs will spill out too. These eggs
that cannot be seen with the naked eyes, will
remain in the surrounding environment, and
under favourable conditions hatch into
hundreds of ticks that will re-infest the
environment.
This explains why it seems that the more we
kill ticks, the more they multiply. I will
suggest that after the tick is removed, you
can throw them in a bowl of water. They will
ultimately drown in the water and die.
How to control ticks
Controlling ticks can be a challenging and
daunting task. However, to successfully
control any parasite, a wholistic interplay of
the three phases of disease control must be
put in place. This concept ensures that the
control measures must include the host
(organism that harbours the parasite), the
agent (the organism that causes the disease)
and the environment (factors that make the
disease thrive in the environment. These
factors include the cracks where they hide,
the shrubs and grasses where they creep
unto, and so on).
Effective control strategies cannot be
targeted at the host alone because if you
control the ticks on your pet and the
environment is still infested, in a matter of
time, the reservoir of these parasites in your
environment will ultimately be a source of re-
infestation on your pet.
Another factor to consider when you want to
effectively control any parasite is knowledge
of their life-cycle. When you see ticks on any
pet, there are also tick eggs that are
present. It takes about 13-28 days for the
eggs to hatch. These eggs are very tiny and
not visible to the naked eyes. Also, the shell
of these eggs makes them resistant to the
chemical agents that are used to control
ticks.
This is the reason why you can use acaricides
(any drug or formulation used for killing
insects) to successfully get rid of ticks, only
to find out that the ticks resurface on the
body of the same pet a few weeks later.
To achieve a successful control of ticks using
acaricides, it is advisable that the procedure
be repeated at weekly intervals for three to
four weeks. This will ensure that the adult
ticks are controlled and eggs that hatch
within the four weeks interval of control can
be effectively taken care of. Prophylactic use
of tick control sprays and solutions can also
be employed. Common active ingredients in
these sprays include pyrethroids, amitraz,
fipronil and so on. Fipronil has a very good
residual effect.
Care should be taken when using acaricides as
these chemical substances can be very
harmful to you and your pet if ingested, hence
the need to cover your pet’s mouth with a
mouth guard before the application of these
acaricides on its body.
Feeding bowls, drinking bowls, leftover food,
beddings, treats and toys should be removed
before the acaricide is used on the animal or
in the environment. In addition to this, make
sure that all pesticide residues are kept out
of the reach of children and pets. Do not
carelessly dump leftover acaricides where
they could contaminate the soil or drinking
water.
In case your pet ingests the acaricide,
activated charcoal administered orally can be
a good first aid.
Can ticks on my pets bite humans?
Don’t be scared. Species of ticks that affect
pets are not the same as that of humans. This
is because they have different mouth parts
that are suited for the specie of animals that
the plague. However, some people may
experience allergic reaction to tick bite.
Have a stress-free weekend.
