Exactly the problem. The dynamics is lost on many. I am quite sure that the Federal government refused to listen to the Biafra cry because it will open the door to other regions too to push for their independence. Else, the idea of Biafra would have come a long time ago and the government, knowing other Nigerian territories run around the 5 Eastern states will just sit back and burden the life out of Biafra.

The idea of a country within a county is unthinkable, a calculated attempt at humiliating secession areas and beating them under subjection. What is the use of living in a flat when you will still carry a bucket outside of the apartment just to bathe?

Making Changes

Much of my inspiration for the philanthropic work that I do stems from being a domestic abuse survivor. Surviving abuse inspired me to help fundraise for the Women's Center, an organization that provides abuse survivors and families with scaled counseling, education, support, and advocacy services along with leadership and career mentoring. Brookings Society, Washington, D.C. chapter at the Brookings Institution, a think tank that engages thought leaders in conversation around policy and changemaking, where I recently helped lead discussions on technology access and the urban and rural divide. Serving as a mentor for Women in Technology, a program that promotes technology careers, highlights rising stars, and emphasizes STEM education, showed me how we can use technology to open up possibilities and opportunities for the next generation.

Some people told me I was young to consider political office. But I’ve lived through plenty of tough experiences in my life, and they gave me the courage to survive, transcend, and grow.
That’s what I bring to my hometown of Bowie, as the current elected City Councilwoman.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has called on the Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, to banish the 12 monarchs who went to Abuja without the state government’s authorisation.

He said oil magnate, Prince Arthur Eze, who led the monarchs on the trip, should also be punished accordingly for what he described as sabotage.

Obiano had suspended the 12 monarchs for one year because of the trip which the state government has described as an affront and a breach of the rules and protocols guiding traditional rulers in the state.

But Ngige, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Saturday, said the monarchs’ suspension was not enough punishment.

He said, “When somebody is suspended from performing the functions of his office, it’s natural that he should be banned from being in that vicinity. Allowing him to stay around is risky because he is a threat to peace. In order to avert such a threat, he should be sent out to another place to prevent possible conduct likely to cause the breach of law and order in the vicinity.

“So, I advise the Anambra State government to relocate the 12 traditional rulers from their communities to avoid a situation likely to cause the breach of public peace. The businessman (Arthur Eze), who took them (monarchs) on the Abuja trip, should be punished for sabotage.”

How, Eze’s media aide, who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity, described Ngige’s call as unconstitutional and ultra vires the powers of a state governor.

I am yet to be proven wrong that the best legal brain in Nigeria (call him a SAN if you choose) cannot hold legal brief/representation in a court of competent reputation anywhere in the world. They are as quack as they come. The only thing they practice in Nigeria is bribery and that erodes intelligence. But then again, SAN is not by merit. It is just a title concorted outside of the legal profession to reward political stooges.
