HealthAnother Professor Dies In Kano by martin123(op): 4:20pm On Apr 26, 2020
Balarabe Maikaba, a professor of mass communication, at Bayero University in Kano, is dead.

A family source disclosed this to TheCable, saying his burial has been fixed for 4pm on Sunday.

One of the former students of the deceased told TheCable that he was preparing to attend the funeral prayer at the family house of the deceased at Fagge in Kano.

TheCable had reported how residents expressed worry over the rising deaths in the state.
SportsOliseh: I Will Never Coach Nigeria Again by martin123(op): 10:36am On Apr 14, 2020
Sunday Oliseh, former Super Eagles midfielder and coach, says he will never coach the Nigerian national team again.

According to PUNCH, Oliseh said he will not accept the offer of managing the team even if given a second chance because “I just couldn’t die on the job.”

The 45-year-old former Borussia Dortmund midfielder was 8 months into his stay as the Eagles coach when he resigned due to contract violations, lack of support, unpaid wages and benefits to his players, assistant coaches in February 2016.

“No, I don’t have the intention of ever coaching the (Super) Eagles again,” he said.

“I loved working with the boys, I love coaching my country, but the atmosphere around it was no longer healthy.

“I didn’t want the job anymore. Health-wise I was not feeling too good; secondly, we were owed salaries. I was spending money on my health and on my team. I just couldn’t die on the job.

“Truth is, we have a foreign coach now and from what I heard and know, he is being paid four times the wages Stephen Keshi and I were paid and these are two players (himself and Keshi) who won trophies for Nigeria.

“I’ve never heard Gernot Rohr complain about wages. Keshi, while he was coaching, was always complaining, when I was coaching for four months, I was unpaid, for six months my assistants were unpaid, so I had to leave the job; we were also being frustrated.”

Oliseh also disclosed that he had good plans for the team before he resigned.

“I had good plans for the team. You will notice that at a time I brought in (Wilfred) Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho, young players who are dominating now,” he said.

“I brought in a world-class goalkeeper (Carl Ikeme) because I felt the old breed were ready to leave

“The same philosophy I used while with the Eagles was the same philosophy France used at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

“Sometimes you ask yourself questions about Nigeria. You won laurels for the country as a player, you’re doing well as a coach, you were about qualifying for the World Cup and you’re unpaid for four months.”

The former Ajax and Juventus player featured in 63 international matches and scored three goals for Nigeria. He also played at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA tournaments in USA and France.

Oliseh participated in the Olympic gold medal winning team of 1996. He was voted Africa’s 3rd best footballer in 1998.

He qualified Nigeria to the CHAN tournament in Rwanda in 2016 — where the team was knocked out by Guinea in the quarter final.

A Chinese official says Favipiravir, an antiviral drug, has shown good clinical efficacy against coronavirus (COVID-19).

The virus was first detected in Wuhan, a city in the Asian country, in December.

Speaking during a press briefing on Tuesday, Zhang Xinmin, director of the China National Center for Biotechnology Development, said the clinical trial of the drug has been concluded.

He said Favipiravir, an influenza drug which was approved for clinical use in Japan in 2014, did not show obvious adverse reactions during the clinical trial.

According to the official, more than 80 patients participated in the trial in the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen, south China’s Guangdong province.

Xinmin said 35 patients were taking Favipiravir and the 45 were on a control group.

At the end of the trial, he said the results showed that the patients who took the Favipiravir drug tested negative for the virus within a short time. On the other hand, the patients in the control group have shown no improvement.

Another clinical research at the Zhongnan Hospital in Wuhan University showed that the “therapeutic effect of the drug is stronger than the control group”.

Xinmin said the drug has been recommended in the diagnosis and treatment of the deadly virus.

He added that a pharmaceutical firm in the country has been granted the approval to mass-produce and supply favipiravir.

Last month, the World Health Organisation (WHO) had said it would take at least three months for a vaccine on coronavirus to be ready.

PoliticsThe Convoy Of Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo Was Involved In An Accident by martin123(op): 7:14pm On Mar 13, 2020
The convoy of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo was involved in an accident en route to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Friday.

A source disclosed this to TheCable, saying one of the outriders in the convoy of Nigeria’s number two citizen died in the accident.

The vice-president was said to be heading to the airport ahead of a flight to Lagos when the incident happened.

Laolu Akande, spokesman of the vice-president, who did not initially respond to TheCable’s inquiry on the accident, later issued a statement to confirm the incident.

“With grief in our hearts, we announce the death of one of the police escort riders on the Vice President’s convoy, Inspector Ali Gomina, aged 45, who was involved in a road accident while on official duty today,” the statement read.

“The accident occurred on the road to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The Vice President, who is greatly saddened by this occurrence, has aborted the scheduled trip.

“The Vice President described Gomina as a diligent, hardworking and serious-minded officer who will be greatly missed by the team. He is survived by his wife, children and relatives.”

There were concerns last year when a chopper which conveyed Osinbajo to a political rally in Kabba, Kogi state, crashed.

Investing in Real estate can be an alternative medium for saving for a college education. It's a sure way to raise money through rental payment to sponsor any member of the family or oneself in obtaining a diploma in higher institution. For example, you can purchase a rental property so as to be able to sponsor your children to the PHD level in terms of academy.

While other benefits of real estate exists, there seem to be an exceptional one among them.

Imagine given birth to your son or daughter and you can plan the child’s educational expenses right from day one of the entrance to school and further, How would that be for you?

When you invest in real estate, you open yourself up for so many opportunities. Your finances are best planned for and controlled. You won’t have to worry about paying your children’s fee termly or quarterly. With an adequate plan of the rentals. Income property scheme, your child’s education is secured.

Real estate is not a do or die affair, but for he who knows that he wants to have less stress when it comes to financing personal projects and paying bills, you might want to consider that.

If making money is not your taboo, this will be the best option I can guarantee you.

TravelRe: Opay, Max.ng May Go As Lagos Decides On Okada, Tricycle Operation by martin123: 6:25am On Dec 31, 2019
This will be a good news. I was in Lagos when BRF restricted the activities of Okada, nothing happened and we got used to it with time, so we will survive. I am 100% in support of the ban, if you live on Lekki-Epe Expressway to see the menace caused by Keke-Marwa, you will understand. A try- cycle dragging the road with a Dangote truck! That’s absurd. Their activities should be restricted to operate on streets not highways.
