somehow: Aina's dad is there for the politics aspect of football... Well preference is what will save Echiejile... I think some people in the NFF and also the coach like Echiejile.... Aina might squeeze in if politics + outstanding performance is recorded in camp or if Echiejile pull himself down with under performance.
Living and playing in Russia should give Idowu an advantage here, secondly, he's the most versatile of the 3, can play up to 4 positions and also good with both feet.
Aina is also good with both feet but not as perfect as Idowu on the left leg.
Defensive wise, Echiejile might be better unless camping says otherwise, followed by Idowu, then Aina.
Echiejile is a better choice if we are to revert to 3, 5, 2, followed by Idowu, Aina can't operate in a 3, 5, 2.
Attack wise, Idowu is better, followed by Aina, then Echiejile.
Stamina wise, Echiejile is better, followed by Aina, might be uncertain with Idowu when it comes to stamina.
International experience wise, Echiejile is boss here, followed by Aina, then Idowu.
All in all, their performance in camp should speak for them followed by favor and preference from the coaching crew. his tactics will decide who ends up in Russia. na now i know say that kwale dey work well, so Echiejile is perfect for 3-5-2. a position that need concentration, fitness, speed and edurance |

somehow: You're repeating what i have just said. preference was used to drop him.
Kalu was never in Rohr's plans nor has he ever invited him to camp. Using your words, what makes you think kayode is in Rohr plans, if a very good player can be discarded and all you could say was his not in his plan, then I'm very sure kayode is not in Rohr plan for worldcup. abi you wan force an to dey him plan? |

somehow: What are you saying na? Did Stuani ever underperformed while getting started ahead of Kayode? if not, why then would the coach have benched him for Kayode? he scored 21 goals in 33 games.. meaning he was delivering so had no need to be benched. Kayode should have find way to perfrom to, is no one fault my brother. not me, Nairaland nor Rohr |

somehow: And he repeated the feat by being on the team of the month in Ukraine within few weeks of moving there. meaning if he had more playing time in Girona + being played at the right position, he would have done well too.
Ignore sentiments. Not saying he should be in Russia, that is left to the coach which has already phased him out but the truth remain what is it. the truth. don't be deceived kayode is still not a starter in Ukraine |

somehow: Kayode to bench Stuani? which of your strikers is hotter than that guy? oga stuani was recruited just about time they got kayode, kayode had more goal than stauni prior to the move, younger and was expected to perform better than him. This is the first tine stuani is scoring double figure in europe |

somehow: Plain truth! Kayode wasn't dropped based on performance, he was dropped based on preference. Anyone who think otherwise is dishonest. EOD. bros, performance and preference will always come in place when choosing, a player like Kalu of gent should be there too if we are talking about performance alone. The coach will only choose 30 and then 23, there is so many good players, he just have to tailor it down. let me give you an example France constantly play Giroud ahead of Lacazette in the qualifiers while lacazette kept him on the bench in arsenal, the coach preferred giroud because of his system. |

Danielnino00: First of all, as per FIFA rule, all teams must present a squad with three goalkeepers,no more,no less.. Most teams will actually be going with more defenders than midfielders unless some forwards are listed as midfielders... Going with 8 defenders isn't a problem at all especially given the fact that all our fullbacks are versatile.. as for the midfield, I think we have seen enough of that already.. it's clear that majority of our midfielders out there are DMF.. no need to add an extra dmf.. should Joel obi make the list, then it will be 6 midfielder and 6 forwards... if a player should be dropped to add another attacking option then it should be Joel, just my opinion |

daveP: Yeah, I'm aware of the formation already. But taking 8defrnders is just excess to me.... 15 spots for the remaining 3sections of the complete team.
Unless the sacrificial lamb is from the goalkeeping department, then I don't really that 8all going.
Haba now. More like
GK-3 at most or 2 if 1is sacrificed
Df-7, or 8, as your stance is
Mid-6. This is the least for the middle.
Attack-7, less 1
That's how I'm seeing this. all top team that even have more attacking option than us name 8 defenders. Am not saying we should copy them but that's just the way it should be, most country never get to use there 3 keepers but is always advise to take a 3rd keeper just incase. Having 2 players in each position is perfect and also gaving attacking players which can play in many position is always key |

Danielnino00: I strongly believe that we won't be worried about Aina being dropped for Echijele if he (Aina) had done better in the games he has played.. Ebuehi made his debit after Aina and has played fewer minutes but he has already shown us what he can offer..even Idowu managed to score on his debut, thus giving Rohr the impression that he got something good to offer too.. but Aina is yet to make an impact that place him in competition with Echijele... As bad as Echijele might be,he might be selected based on his experience.. its left to Aina to grab the opportunity in the next two friendlies... i share the same view with you on this, Aina is making it difficult for Rohr to pick him. Though we all don't want it but Echiejile might just edge it as the backup LB for Idowu |

TheSuperNerd: Training Report : Iwobi Shines In Eagles Training , Uzoho Top Goalkeeper In Shooting Drills
https://i0.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/IMG_4519.jpg
The Super Eagles of Nigeria had their first training session as a group today in preparation for their upcoming pre World Cup friendly game against Congo DR in Port Hacourt. Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent was at the session which had four goalkeepers and 12 outfield players in attendance and lasted close to two hours at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi showed his abilities during a close game among the players with his vision and ability to get out of tight spaces very much the hallmark of his performance.
The goalkeepers were not left out of the session with coach Enrico Pionetti taking them on shooting exercise after some drills to help them warm up properly for the exercise.
Deportivo La Coruna B goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho impressed the most with his reflexes particularly when it comes to parry shots away, while Ezenwa appears a bit slow in reacting after making a punched save.
Daniel Akpeyi was also not far off in making saves off efforts and from our counts made the second highest save after Uzoho who stopped more efforts during the drills.

Danielnino00: Rohr will definitely try the 3-5-2 in one of our group games.. that's where having 4 CBs will be necessary.. 4 FBs too will b necessary.. for me 4 CB is even more important than 4 FB, forward players can slot in that FB. we have V.Moses and S.Moses already played there in there club side |

TheSuperNerd: Manu Garba Takes Pride In Musa Muhammed’s Display Against Atletico Madrid – He Is A Born Leader
https://i0.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/4C1C416A-809B-42D9-8504-B8BD05E0E55D-2084-0000016D422B6D02.jpeg
Coach of the Nigeria U17 team Manu Garba has hailed the performance of Musa Muhammed for the Super Eagles B team in yesterday’s 2-3 friendly loss to Atletico Madrid.
Musa Muhammed captained the Nigerian team in the encounter and Manu who nurtured the defender at U17 and 20 level, where he was captain of his team says Nigerians should expect more from the Istanbul Basaksehir man.
”I have always maintained that he has the quality to play at the highest level, so his performance yesterday didn’t come as a surprise to me. He is a born leader and that is why I named him captain of my U17 and 20 team”, Manu told Owngoalnigeria.com in an exclusive chat.
Rated as one of the surest candidate for the right back spot of Nigeria in the future, Musa lost his way following a big money move to Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir, where he is yet to get a game in the league after three years at the club.
However Manu said his loan time with Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Plovdiv has helped his confidence and he is beginning to grow as expected when he first burst on the scene with the Nigeria U17.
”Musa is still developing hence Nigerians should expect more from him. The regular run of games he enjoyed in Bulgaria has helped his development and I’m sure he will pick it up from there next season”, he concluded.

What do you think was the opinion of all of those coaches
Bony was not signed by Pep and never met the expectations placed on strikers by Pep. From the day arrived Bony became surplus to requirements. you are shifting rhe goal post, i brought up bony because you said when an ordinary player play with world-class players he will look good, why didnt he come good under Pellegrini and then pep. Una go just sitdown they bring another man down, Iheanacho is a striker, a very good one at that |

Nihilstjnr: I'm not being dishonest here.
How can you be top of the game as a runner up? That's an oxymoron.
Xavi wasnt the best player in the world...he was however the top midfielder in Europe.
If you told me Xavi was at the top of the European game in his peak, I would also reject that. If you said he was the top midfielder however...
JayJay wasnt even that. Never the top player generally or top guy in his niche. He wasnt even the top guy in super eagles.
I remember the very first time I heard the phrase 'play to the gallery', it was used to describe JayJay.#
I dont want to muddle this discussion up cos I feel like ive strayed a bit.
My point remains that if you compare Okocha's career to his team mate like Kanu for example, it becomes immediately apparent that JayJay was a massive underachiever...and this was due to his indiscipline on(and reportedly off) the pitch. if there is an underachiever then is kanu, bar Olympic which is not a national team competition, kanu never scored in any tournerment, played 3 worldcup and 6 nations cup. |

Aina got his opportunity first before Ebuehi, but the few opportunity ebuehi got he made good use of it, Aina is still not there for me. i hope he makes the worldcup team |

Nihilstjnr: Yekini was a local champion
Yekini only won that award due to a format change that allowed there to be two awards that year
The AFOTY award he won wasnt the one awarded by France Football( The magazine which originally invented the award in the 70s, and also invented the Balon D'or)
Yekini won another AFOTY awarded by a magazine that doesnt even exist today.
I'm not trying to trivialise his achievements, i'm only setting some context.
Football as you know is a game of demand - if you are that good, the big clubs will come in for you. And Yekini never played at a big club...not even a mid level club.
I see no real difference between Yekini's career and someone like Emenalo's to be perfectly honest. Emenalo compared to yekini wetin i no go see for this thread |
