MetalJigsaw: Bolton Release Chinedu Obasi After Just Two Months May 24, 2018 4:31 pm
Former Nigeria forward Chinedu Obasi has been released by English Championship club Bolton Wanderers after just two months following the expiration of his short-term deal with the club.
Bolton made the announcement on their official website on Thursday.
According to the club, Phil Parkinson who is Bolton’s manager stated he would not be needing the services of Obasi and six other players after their deals ended.
Obasi, 31, joined Bolton in March after going on trial but did not make a single appearance for the first team, only featuring for the U-23s.
A statement on the club’s website reads: “Bolton Wanderers have today confirmed that seven players will not be offered new deals when their current contracts end on Saturday 30 June.
“Derik Osede, Dorian Dervite, Chris Taylor, Jem Karacan, Mark Howard, Jan Kirchhoff and Chinedu Obasi have all been informed by manager Phil Parkinson that they are free to look elsewhere once their contracts end at Macron Stadium.
“With the majority of the squad on overseas holidays, further meetings with the remaining out-of-contract players will take place in the next seven to 10 days.”
And commenting on the released players, Parkinson said: “I would like to thank the players for their contributions to Bolton Wanderers Football Club and wish them well for the future.”
Obasi was in the Flying Eagles squad that finished second at the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands.
He was also part of the U-23 Eagles that won silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in China.
He featured for the Super Eagles at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Obasi should be able to get a team with his CV |

Icon4s: I would rather have Simi Nwankwo start. He looks more like a player that can add value. We really need to assess him closely. We should give him more time and maybe Lokosa can come in later in the game. i was told fifa gives compulsory 2weeks break from there last match with the club...if simi is eligible then he should start |

tbaba1234: Lokosa highlights are on youtube. There is no wow factor in them. Besides, this is his first season in the top flight. He has been rewarded for good form which is great. We do not know how good he is because of the level, he is playing at the moment.
Kayode has had good scoring records in much better leagues and has played with far better competition including Roma in the Europa league.
Based on what we know of their careers, Kayode is much better but Lokosa could be a diamond in the rough. Time will tell. Thank you very much, your last paragraph is key, lokosa should start Congo match |

TheSuperNerd: The second bolded had already been addressed by myself, Sir Tbaba1234 and a few others. Lokosa is in no bloody way better as a footballer than Kayode. But because of his goals stats in the NPFL and as a local player doing so, Rohr had to ride on courtesy and extend him an invitation. The issue of encouraging the hardwork of our local lads has always been a constant in our national team. If Rohr didn't invite a player having 18 goals in 21 games in the NPFL... It would be termed a big injustice and also said that he doesn't seek to help encourage the local lads.
So it was not for ability that Lokosa was picked but for his goals stats on the local front which, even you must confess, is too good to be ignored.
And uhmm... Who is even taking K.Nwakali seriously as regards Russia? Are you guys just making this up or what? It is agreed by most here that he cannot be included in the squad and for obvious reasons. He still lacks the experience to function at that level. Super Talented, he is but he needs to still mature.
And sorry... I don't agree with the first bolded. Speak for yourself. Some or even several of us here are certainly not tribalists. It is the truth. your first paragraph is not right, you have barely watch lokosa play, how do you know his not better than kayode. I want to believe in Rohr and his decision not because i love all his decision but because is his job and he will take responsibility of it and we truly can't change nothing. all we need to do now is support them . |

ykalhaji: Which one be all this arguement now ? The truth is that everyone on this thread is a tribalist. To be human is to be a tribalist. Now being a tribalist and domineering is the problem. Some people here love Kelechi Iheanacho and Eastern sounding name Super Eagles players die, Forgiveness did not call them tribalist oooo. Imagine people asking for Onyekuru who had a season ending injury to be invited to play in the world cup ? Or Kelechi Nwakali who in my opinion is a super talent but had never being invited by Rohr even for meaningless friendlies to be invited to go to Russia against all their previous arguement that ;
1) Coach knows best.
2) Players should be selected based on pedigree of competition they face in their clubs (League rating and division)
3) Team cohesion and chemistry (Rohr's is sticking with the team that qualified us)
4) Already entrenched players to play that position in the team.
Forgiveness's initial issue was the waste space given to Lokossa, asking why Kayode was not given that space, which in all honesty makes sense or would you say Lokossa is a better gamble than Kayode ?
A lot of folks during this forgiveness and tribalist arguement have contradicted themselves. We are Nigerians, we have our blindspots and we also have our angle of viewing issues. And your point is?? anybody calling or complaining about a olayer not called at this stage has very strong issue |

Mujtahida: That's the point na. Somebody was crying Dessers sometimes ago. Nobody called him a tribalist.
I myself was peeved with the way forgiveness went on with the Kayode thing for so long but does that make him a tribalist? That's what gets to me you are right but his suppprt for certain players from some tribe and hatred for some from other tribe don't say good about him. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Martz101: 10:42pm On May 25, 2018 |
Mujtahida: If we are frank and sincere we would acknowledge the fact that Kayode has not been given an opportunity to show what he's got.
The talk about him being given an opportunity is absolutely false. Opportunity is not cameos. If cameos are opportunities then let no one excuse Iheanacho(yes I will mention him again because his situation presents an apt example) not being given opportunities by Puel.
In this context opportunities mean run of games not cameos.
Bias I can accommodate but bias masking as fairness I cannot and that's what we do here and when forgiveness takes our biased units of measurements and applies it to other players he is tarred and blackened. oga how many players had the opportunity they wanted, players like nwakeme, onyekuru even agbo is looking for opportunity, Ebuehi did not even get the opportunity even when shehu was ineligible to play My point is why kayode Why can't you people make case for this other players, why kayode on this thread always. Is he better than the other players dropped. |

When we watch soccer, we dont look to see one player. We look at the overall complexion of a team. This is not Super Moses, the national team. This is Super Eagles we are talking about. And if you dont understand that, its also cool...(on you) At he bolded, it is my business because you lost right to any form of being taken seriously if you say one thing and start backtracking later. Kog45: Sir,it was on this thread that am hearing it and no fans has such view.
OK why Aina's Father and not Iwobi's Father or Ebuehi's Father or do you think it's only Aina and Echiejile fighting for a spot, this coming friendlies will do the talking, apart from Mikel as captain anything can happen.
Rohr is in charge and the best in camp would be at WC irrespective of anybody's Father presence.
I repeat it such diverse view is not good for this thread. It belittled our analysis prowess cos a lot peep here and before you know it you gona see caption "Aina's Father trying to influence Rohr. You can't rule out diverse views from public forum because everyone reason differently. As long as the views are not going against the forum rule then is always welcome. For example Someone said Nigeria will lose all our group stage matches if we wear our lemon green jersey |

kennysville: Wrong body language abi? Lemme tell you the blatant truth. As much as you have the right to air ur views inocuously, others also have the right to interpret it. And trust me, body language is the one that gets highly misinterpreted. Yoruba ppl will say ará ilé ló mòó l'ámòdì, Wèrè ni ará ìta máa pèé (meaning its only members of ur houshold that will try make excuse for ur misdeeds, people on the outside will call it madness).
How did Yekini get phased out of the National team? Story for another day.
Let him continue his solo life. But consider yourself marked. If I hear you say peem during the world cup about his misdeeds, na there me and you go start.... Calm down with your rant and be civil, every body have different personality, been a footballer don't change that. And even if I complain about him in future is non of your business. I don't know how yekini got into this argument, but yekini played for 14 years, very few players surpassed that. |

kennysville: Please note all those monikers that are bent on indulging moses' irresponsible conduct and indiscipline. Make una no complain at the world cup when your supposed weapon of mass destruction hoards all balls to seek personal glory at the expense of the team.
Wrong doings need to be corrected in strongest possible terms. I cant recall any international match that Naija played where moses arrived early. Its always one excuse after the other. He even went as far as choosing games he plays. Abeg dem dey get injury for inside aircraft? At least show solidarity with your comrades. This subtle thing if left unchecked is the reason for bad blood and poor performances in teams. Equality is important in discipline.
I have said this times without number for those who have read my posts. He (Moses) needs to learn teamwork. I dont buy that bull crap of he doesnt socialize because as quiet as he is, he socializes with his Chelsea team mates. I saw his vid after the FA cup, you would wonder if its the same Moses.
You guys are singing his praises now. He had betta come good at the world cup. When he starts playing his solo stuff, make una no complain O! Weapon of mass destruction my foot! One of the most iconic moment in worldcup was scored by Diego maradona and it was a solo effort, every team need such player sometimes |

Good we have people like you that always have balanced opinion here.
[b]I saw that comment about Aina's father being involved in Aina's selection.[b/] I just ignored because I know it is a baseless point.
Those same people that are clamoring for Kelechi Nwakali today would still be the first to jump and call him a flop tomorrow.
I see no issues in Rohr giving Moses the break as long as they are both in agreement. Nobody said Aina father is involved in Aina selection, the talk was how other players dropped and fans may perceive it. If we can't make diverse views and remarks about the team then of what essense is the thread? |

tbaba1234: Ronaldo has scored several free kicks so his own is understandable. Victor has not proven to be better than Iheanacho or Simon Moses as regards free kicks.
I feel like the coach should allow for shared responsibility, depending on the area of the field. They do share them, but the responsibility is on moses to assign them on the pitch |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Martz101: 7:03am On May 25, 2018 |
tbaba1234: One area, we need to work on is set-pieces. V. Moses, Iheanacho and even Simon Moses can share responsibility. V.Mose should not be allowed to hoard all the set plays. Some set-pieces favor a left footer, Iheanacho should be allowed to take those.
We also have to try to be more dangerous of setplays. Balogun, Ekong, Ndidi and all the tall men need to get on the end of corners and other indorect freekicks. Moses is not hoarding the setpeiece, the question should be when last did iheanacho and moses play thesame time, i can only remember the Poland game and we got 3 freekicks, moses played one, iheanacho played one and ekong tried one too Moses corner and indirect freekicks are always dangerous and should continue |

ChrisKels: Thank you very much for that observation. That is not the only problem I notice with him. There is a certain arrogance creeping into him. The way he treats the younger players of the team calls for concern: His treatment of Iheanacho during the friendly match is one. Second is his treatment of Ndidi after Iwobi scored the goal against Zambia. Ndidi went to shake him but he just kept his hands on his dreadlocks and greeted the boy complacently with one hand. Its insulting. Moses should watch it, he is fast becoming full of himself.

Awoniyi, Olayinka, Agbo make Belgium league’s Young Team of the Season
By Abdulquadir Adedapo - March 28, 2018 561 0 tweet
Former U-17 World Cup-winning striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has been named as one of the eleven best players under the age of 23 in the just concluded Belgium league regular season after a string of impressive displays with Royal Excel Mouscron, AOIFootball.com reports.
The on-loan Liverpool attacker, who scored 7 goals with 5 assists, leads the attack in a 4-3-3 formation which also includes two Nigerians Uche Agbo of Standard Liege and Peter Olayinka of Zulte Waregem.
Olayinka, on his part, joins the front three after scoring 8 goals in the regular season while also adding 4 assists to his name in 23 games played, starting in all of the games he featured in this season.
While Agbo who was part of Nigeria’s friendly match against Poland and Serbia, he forms a midfielder trio after impressing for Standard Liege that made it into the Championship playoff round.
Uche Agbo scored one goal all season, had an impressive passing accuracy of 87% while also averaging well over 80% of passes completion per game.
Agbo remains part of Eagles’ Coach, Gernot Rohr’s World Cup plan while Awoniyi on the other hand must continue to work hard if he’s to stand any chance of been a part of the World Cup party to Russia later in June.

forgiveness: We didn't get this kind of explanation during Awoniyi's spell in the Bundusliga second division.
What we were outrightly told by the two faced double standard fellows was that Awoniyi flopped then because he is not good enough. These fellows stretched it so tey, they claimed he was fortunate to be in the under 17 world cup else he don't deserve to be there because he doesn't posses any talent.
