Is it just me, or those this phone look like the Tecno Boom J8?

it looks like Tecno W4 at the top where you have the earphone Jack but looking the gionee at the front it's an insult to compare with the beautiful W4 or the Boom j8. The front is the ugliest I have seen.

It's no doubt the build up to the grand unveiling of the Tecno Phantom 6 and 6 plus has been generating lot of anticipation, especially with the choice of Launching the two devices (in Dubai) outside of Africa.

We earlier got a bad news of Tecno official twitter account being hacked but later turned out to be a strategy by the company to call the attention of the public to the announcement of the Beauty and the Beast

We are in that time of the year when the big players in the mobile industry release their flagship devices. TECNO Mobile which is Africa largest mobile brand is preparing to introduce (if the leaked image we got is anything to go by) its flagship device into the market.

The Phantom series are TECNO’s biggest devices in terms of hardware, specification and aesthetics. The TECNO Phantom 5 which was released last year remains the most premium and specced device till date from the company.

As light as a pen

If the leaked image we got is to be taken seriously, then the upcoming TECNO Phantom 6 could be in for an award as the slimmest device ever. That also means the device will be incredibly light as pen and probably comes with a metallic unibody design. The image above further demonstrated how light the upcoming Tecno Phantom 6 will be compared to the weight of a pen. That means we could put the device and pen on our pockets without feeling much weight, this is very awesome because we all like a very light devices. Since the Phantom series are TECNO’s most premium flagship devices, a lot is therefore being expected from upcoming TECNO phantom 6.

Ultra-thin body with Amoled display

The TECNO Phantom 6 could be in for a big display and resolution jump if rumour reaching us is anything to go by, TECNO is apparently likely to introduce a 6-inch screen with at least full HD resolution or even a QHD resolution on the upcoming phantom 6. What is not clear at this time of writing this article is whether TECNO will introduce SUPER AMOLED display or stick with the IPS display used on the last Phantom phone. But from the leaked image above and rumour mills online, TECNO might be ditching the IPS screen for a more colourful and vivid super AMOLED display. The image on the leaked device above looks more colourful than the traditional IPS display, so we are probably guessing, the device will come with amoled screen.

Aside the camera, I think Hot 4 is better and way cheaper.

your similarity comparison is wrong. Hot 4 is 4G enabled , C7 is not, Camon C7 comes with more recent processor-Mediatek 6753M with Mali-720.

The front Camera from HOT S is ok but still not at par with the Camon C9 when you put them to test under the same conditions. The rear camera from the Hot S is where Infinix got it all wrong, It didnt come close to the Camon C9 at all.It struggles to focus which leaves most pictures taken with it blurry most of the time. I will be coming with my comparison of the two devices soon.

The Camon C7 is a worthy mini version of the Camon C9, despite the fact that it's not full HD I was impressed with the sharpness of the screen. Though My Camon C9 still rocks any day.

Infinix are just getting dumber with every release. Before you start hurling stones at me, lemme give you a logical reason.
Up till now the most succesful infinix product till date is the first of the hot series i mean infinix hot (no its not hot note) and the attribute behind the huge sucess wasnt the design cause God knows the design was a total crap (a heavy and bulky phone it almost weighed twice the size of a tecno f5). The attribute behind the success wasnt the UI (it posseses the same UI every other chinese products were releasing at that time with little differences).
It wasnt the ram- tecno had many products in market with 1 gig ram prior to the release of infinix hot.
It wasnt the display, infinix hot display is similar to nokia asa. But
the main reason was because it was cheap! Infinix dropped a 5.0 inch phone, 1 gig ram phone just for 15,000 at initial, tecno's equivalent product was sold for 21,000. I know right now all these specs are trash but back then it was the sh*t! The phone was economy friendly and it offered more than its worth so tell me why people wont flood sales outlet with a goal in mind- to get an infinix hot phone. I'm talking about a period when people in nigeria had a preconceived notion that the bigger the screen size the more the cost.
The next succesful phone was no other than the hot note a phone that bridged the gap between a normal smartphone and a tablet- infinix presented note for 23,000! ofcourse its going to be another smash hit!
Tecno were hardly making any impact during these periods. Even on nairaland infinix hot and hot note thread never leaves the the first page of the phone section on nairaland.
Now infinix have been releasing phones in these economically harsh days with prices starting from 31,000 and trust me none of them are going to or will be a smash hit sucess.
In my department i know 11 of my colleagues who are using tecno w4, while the people using hot 3 and note 2 are around 3 and 2 respectively. Now im not saying infinix should not release expensive high end phones im just saying that they should also release a phone that is economy friendly for nigerians in these harsh days at least tecno released boom j8, c9 and its other flagship phones but they also dropped something for the average middle class W4. So i think infinix should follow suit and drop something.

Remember it is only on nairaland that you see nerds and geeks clamouring for 3gig ram phones in reality what a average girl wants is phone that has a splendid design and longer battery. All they want to do with a phone is snap, operate their social media account and probably watch movies thats all, they dont need 2gig ram for flawless gameplay of modern combat 5 or nba2k15 or even open 10 apps at once. They only play sucar crush and last time i checked 1gig covers that so i propose these spec

and more importantly give it a sleek and beautiful design.

Well, i have not used both phones, but judging from user experiences and reviews, i will say the Hot S is better. Now listen according to user experience, the C9 eyescanner is not responsive and people are either tired of using it or they dont use it at all. The 13MP camera is not as sharp as the Infinix Hot S and the camera is supposed to be the selling point oo. On the Infinix Hot S, the camera beats the Tecno C9 and it also has an 8MP front camera unlike the C9, so selfies with HOt S is better. The fingerprint scanner is responsive and fast.
Those are what reviews and users said.

Hot S camera beat Camon C9? you must be dreaming. Even the Zero with 21MP is still trailing the Camon C9's camera. I have tested the two , the Hot S struggles to focus and pictures are too granny

If you own a Camon C9 or about to buy the device, the good news is, TECNO has pushed a major security and system stability updates for the device. These updates fix some issues being experienced on particular unit of Camon C9 like force closing of the gallery and poor low light performance of the front facing camera. The front camera no doubt does a good job in a well –lit environment and the rear camera performance is the best I have seen from any TECNO device.

I made mention of the inability to take clearer selfies in a dark environment during my review of the device couple of weeks ago and I am glad they listened and fixed the issues.

How was the issue fixed?

A standard flash that flashes when you need good and bright pictures, just like the one on the rear camera has been added in addition to the soft flash or what I call flashlight. What you have before is a flashlight that performs the function of torchlight as against a normal flash. It does little to night selfie experience. The first picture below here was taken using the soft flash in a dark room while the second one was under the same environment using the normal flash added through this latest update.


I received the update yesterday and today I have successfully updated the device. Apart from the camera stability enhancement other minor issues were also fixed.

How to perform the update

Go to your phone settings, click on about phone and then click on system update. The device will search for the update and you will be presented with the update.
Click on the green arrow to download the update, when it’s fully downloaded your device will be ask you to reboot to install the update. Wait while the update is installing, until your device is finally done.

I will pick the Camon C9 over J8 any day but it also comes with a higher price

Nothing impressive about this device , the design from the rear angle is looking good but when i see the front view i am disappointed

Go for Gionee p5w, am currently using m3 mini, was going to buy p5w until bluboo Maya and leagoo m5 came along with cubot dinosaur and rainbow. But if u need a phone u won't regret, gionee is the real deal even the 1800mah on my gionee p3 then does well.. GO FOR Gionee
