No Mr. Knowitall, aka Mr. Showboater, you are the one to _fuck off to oblivion with your infantile grasp of the English language. Yes, it's obvious that you are not yet proficient in the use of English. Employing verbosity and archaic words in your write-up can barely mask it.

There are numerous errors in those posts of yours, but I picked out that one because most Nigerians commit that blunder and it's annoying. Instead of taking corrections from someone who knows more than you in that regard, you've elected to further exhibit your clueless and crass stupidity. Quite nauseating!

You have a long way to go in learning the use of English. The entry you made reference to clearly stated what 'vast' means. It said a great degree or intensity of something. It never suggested you can use it in the sense you used it - 'I am vast'. Referring to yourself as vast instead of whatever knowledge you assume you have. It is a totally wrong English expression. You can have vast knowledge or skill but can never be seen as vast. You can only say 'I am versed'.

Get that into your thick skull full of nothing but conceit, Mr. Knowitall aka Mr. Showboater.

As you can see from my last post, I definitely know the difference between "versed" and "vast" and have never pronounced them the same. I took this this up not for the sake of argument, but because I saw something wrong in what you said.

You are taking the statement too literally. The word "vast" can definitely be used in a figurative sense, more akin to the definition you provided in number (4). His meaning can be implied; I am [intellectually] vast enough to know everything about communication. the word "everything" is our context, showing that he could use either "versed" or "vast".

I maintain that there is nothing wrong with what he said. In fact your own construction was a lot clumsier...hardly anybody refers to themselves as being "versed" in something, even if it is technically grammatically correct. A more appropriate wording would be "well-versed".

Language is not just about grammar...there is a balancing of grammar, meaning, intrinsic aesthetic and inference...

Human beings are in fact, extremely vast. In the metaphorical sense of the word...
I didn't know that you elaborately educated him. I wouldn't have gone the bother of affording him a response.
you should know that some people are incorrigibly obdurate in ignorance, and it is inutile trying to inculcate sense into them.

ignore him as he jolly well should, else you will be embroiled in futile back and forth

Funny you! Thanks for your post, you've just taught something today. Since I was born I've been thinking the injury "whitlow" was actually pronounced and spelled "wiclo" .thanks for educating me and a large number of Nigerians who did not know the right pronunciation and spelling.

I actually understood what you wrote, I don't know why these people are making such a big deal about it.

Trust me, my dear.

we will write plethora of books if we should speculate on that. a lot of people like to destroy what they don't understand or it's not within the confine of their mediocrity. it's part of the human psychic. it's akin to a swarm of termites waiting for the wind of their collective sneer to break me like a tree, so they can feed on me and pull me back to the common jungle.

XhosaNostra whom i was having a tete-a-tete with, had no problem, it is people who it isn't their business. anyway, I'm impervious to them, and usually ignore them, but felt oblige to respond when Ishilove whom i like and should've known me better, right from my nascent on this fora, seem to join the bandwagon.

It's 'versed' not 'vast' Mr. Knowitall alias Mr Showboater. undecided

An adage in Igbo language says: If you know this one, do you know the other one? If you think you've deciphered the bird's illness, have you been able to decipher its ability to fly?

you know, I usually ignore this kind of your petty post, but i feel called upon to educate and slough your ignorance, so you don't go brandishing it with reckless chutzpah next time

there are more than one way to express the same thing, just like 'vast' is the most apt word to use in the context i used it.
I know endeavoring you to read up on figurative expression will be tantamount to the worsest carnage of human history, if measured in material quantity, so I'll ask you to check number 4 definition of the pics below, or check this link>>> https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/vast

Now, fvck off to a well deserved oblivion.

Shes try to say, when an information is passed and one party didn't get the information, there was no communication thereof, Communication between two party involves understanding of both parties. Simple and short Your Grammar was too much and irrelevant. Especially when you had an option to use Simpler terms, but you chose to show us you're an English scholar. Bravo Amigo.

don't you think I'm vast enough to know everything about communication? or you think i need the opinion of other people to inform me on that?
when I write; it's for me and others who are acclimatize with my writing genre or have predilection for it. any other lexical dilettante is very welcome to ignore and pass accordingly, I mean as many as they come, cos I've got no patience for quibbling over my writing choice.

So you've never forgotten details you SHOULD know off the top of your head? Trust me, it happens sometimes.
Yes, everybody experience spasmodic disruption of the hippocampus once in a while, but no matter how acute it is, it does not encapsulate things as rudiment as our ability to remember our name, except there's either a strong hit to the head or you're under the induction of alcohol, cannabis(most especially) et al. those make you susceptible to disorientation or momentary amnesia.

Conversely, stress and depression can be a factor, but it's on the infinitesimal. so, no matter the reason, it's still not good.

Some channels on my TV were not showing, so I called the Dstv call center. There was a long wait before my call was picked, so I was extremely irritated as I waited. Finally my turn came, the agent on the other end of the line asked for general details, like smart card number etc. To conclude her security questions, she asked for my name to confirm my identity. I don't know if it was due to my irritation or just pure absentmindeness, but I couldn't remember my name. I tried hard to remember, nothing came up so I just dropped the call, only to start the whole process all over again grin Yeah, that was embarrassing. I felt like an Alzheimer patient. LOL!
Are you sure you did not bash your head against a rock before you made that callgrin

I've always been a pariah to the demand of convention. I never knew my Able Godgrin has been fielding me from debacle all this while. so, I decided to be haughty against all my instinct, by deciding to go open the car door for a lady whom i wanted to give a lift after a wedding(a honest selfless lift at thatgrin) and had my hand rammed when she attempted to close the car door. that was when i knew pain can make someone laugh in ineffable agony, because, I once saw a woman laughing and crying during the burial of her son, and I was like; this woman have gone nut. my plight that hot afternoon, gave rationale to that woman's action.

the pain was indescribable that it later turned to Whitlow. that was my first Whitlow, and the last time I'll embark on such misadventure.

you're right to an extent if we look at it from a lurid spectrum-i mean black and white-but you should take into cognisance the fact that humans are psychological instinctual by disposition; just like people desert a room where they've farted, as if it's of a direct mortal danger to them. forgetting that the fart actually came from their body.

they're only acting on the instinct of human psych. so, you can't fault them for being human, neither can you coerce them to pander to your own perspective, because every human is guilty of it in one way or another. there are different form of same guilt, you know!

I would advise women not to rebel against God's natural order. Men may look like they are having it good in life, but they are still the ones with the highest suicide rates in the world, they are the most imprisoned gender as well, as far as police brutality goes, men are the highest recipients, and on the average, women live longer than men.

The natural order should stay please smiley
