9jacrip: You have chosen to see my point from the tribalist and economic gain angle and I cannot help you.
Abia and Imo oil production cannot even sustain the whole of South East. The oil there should have been left untouched since 5 states already account for as much as 80% of the production. little boy, whoever told you about that 80% thingy just deceived you. the percentages are not certain but i can tell u categorically that if those states did not produce crude in commercial quantity they wuldnt have been listed. or do you think you are more knowlegeable than the experts that certified that long before you knew how to take off your knickers? please suspend this your baseless and unfounded inquisition. go and carry out a research on its rudiments instead of spewing your ignorance on NAIRALAND. who do you want to leave his/her busy schedule to start educating you ? please we dnt run creche/nursery here. go and do your assignments LAD. |

Frabidel: Several months after escaping a secret-cult membership allegations due to her affiliation with alleged cultist Prophet Iretiola Ajanaku, Nigeria’s top Gospel singer tope Alabi is in another scandal. Few weeks ago, a confession audio tape with her voice went viral where she maidconfessions that she is possessed by a mermaid spirit. The singer has debunked the story. During a recent interview with FAAJI FM, Tope Alabi said whoever managed to use her voice to do the confession is a mischief maker and that the only confession she has ever made and will continue to make is that of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. In her own words: “I was on a foreign musical tour when someone called and said I had released a new audio, where I confessed to being a mermaid. I didn’t believe it because I felt it was just one of those media stunts. So, I just waved the whole thing aside. “It was when I got home and another pastor called me and said he just got the tape and that I was the one. I was dumbfounded. So, I asked him to please play it for me. To my greatest surprise, I actually listened to it over the phone and I just sat there. The voice was exactly my voice. But I just can’t explain how the person did it. The only confession I have ever done and will continue to do is the gospel of Christ.”

diarra94: OK now you're just starting to sound ignorant. why should I kill Adolf Hitler when god knowingly created him a recent survey showed that atheist contributed more towards charity than any other faith in america. as humans we all have a conscience and we are subjected to the laws of physics and nature. you people forget that just a few hundred years ago , our ancestors were living in the jungle as savages with no understanding of life and reason. they killed each other as they pleased because humans were not created but evolved from animals and as our brains brains became larger and more complex we started g rasping knowledge about our world. how else would you explain the savage tribes of africa and south Americas if we all supposedly came from Adam and eve who had a concept of life. oga , if u really evolved from apes why hasnt evolution transformed you and your family into something else yet? abi na for homo sapiens e stop?? evolution shuld be continuos dnt u think? stop decieving urself. |

pendusky: Nigeria has a lot of cultural and traditional beliefs and taboos. Some are actively practiced while others are dormant and are not necessarily practiced presently.
•For example in the Ibibio tribe using the left hand actively is a form of insult and seen as a form of negativity ,such as using the left hand to give or accept something and even using the left hand to eat.
• In the past, Ladies esp the pregnant women were not allow to look into Masquerade in the face otherwise she will born a baby that resembles Masquerade. but now adays U will find ladies taking a photo shot with the Masquerade
The taboos are not the same, they vary in ethnicity. Here are some examples:
•In the Eke-Idemilli area of the Ibo land, its a taboo to kill any form of snake.
•The Akwa people do not allow the killing on their monkeys, although this is not widely practiced in ibo land generally.
•Suicide in some parts of ibo land also is a taboo, and the family would be the ones to pay the penalty if anyone commits suicide.
•In some areas of Idoma land, when the king dies, its a taboo to mourn at the funeral.
•In some parts of Yoruba land , its a taboo for pregnant women to go near a corpse.
•In some parts of Benin, displaying palm fruits in public is a taboo , rumors have it that one could even loose his or her head.
•Some parts of ibo land forbids eating of yam in the month of August.
•In some parts of Urhobo Delta State, cutting of fire wood at night when the moon is full is forbidden, rumors have it that such a person could become a statue.
All these myths are just a traditional mans theory to find some meaning to existence. A scientist would call it typical hypothesis that can never be proved. This must have been created when man had total fear of the unknown and still tried to understand the universe.
