RELIGIOUS PEOPLE TELLING US GOD HAS A MASTER PLAN!!!

5. religious people telling us we'll go to hell if we dont accept their ridiculous doctrines. (there r so many of u guys, wc do we even follow)

This is an attempt to answer many questions i see all the time in the Religion section.


1. Evolution always produces the strongest species and hence always produces the perfect individuals as the offsprings.

This implies that evolution will eventually stop once it gets its perfect organism. Nope. Change is thankfully pretty constant. We’ll keep evolving and evolution isn’t heading towards perfection. It’s a process, not a being, it isn’t intelligent. An obvious example that come to mind is sickle cell anaemia.
Sickle cell is a disease that produces a different type of haemoglobin which causes the red blood cells to get distorted shapes, kinda like sickles, its tends to block tiny little arteries and might end up killing you in d long run, that’s all fancy stuff you can learn in med school like me (or be a smartass and just google it), but that’s not the point, the point is that people (only blacks by the way, nd I thought God wasn’t racist) who have this disease don’t get sick with malaria, it makes perfect sense because malaria is the biggest scourge of Africa right now (take that AIDS), that’s with all the advanced healthcare and stuff, but think about the disease about a thousand years ago, yep, it was a huge deal. Let’s say you get malaria, you die in lyk a few months of your birth (ogbanje, abiku) and never get to pass your genes along, but if you have sickle cell, you’ll probably live to lyk 20 before you die and so probably u would have a better chance of passing your genes along. Thanks, evolution for making us immune to the biggest killer In Africa. Why not just give us men with bigger brains earlier so we could just cure it, instead we had to make sacrifices and blame our gods for the in effectiveness.
In conclusion, its pretty clear evolution isn’t the smartest process around, but it gets the job done. E.g, man’s brain, man’s opposable thumb, gills in fish etc.


2. There is no evolution in action

I have heard this so many times. Give me prove I can see bla bla bla…. Evolution is a gradual process I’ve heard, but if we take enough time and have really keen eyes, we’ll see common examples. Again in medicine, there is something called ‘drug resistance’.
It essentially means that at some points, bacteria develop immunity to drugs once you use them without completing you dose. Breaking it down, the bacteria reproduces asexually (see, no sex, shout out to the priests among us) . any bacteria that so happens to be immune to the drug’s effect will be able to reproduce and those who aint immune will die. I even once read of people who are immune to AIDS. There are a lot of other examples, but we’re in 2012 and google is your friend (yes, that’s right, forget the police now, the next time you have robbers, go to google)


3. We come from monkeys

This is just silly. Evolution does imply that we come from the same ancestors as them not that we come from them!!!! If we come from them, they wouldn’t be around anymore, coz they would already be us!!! Where are our ancestors They r dead and gone, coz they have evolved into us. It doesn’t get simpler than that.

4. Evolution talks about the origin of Life

It doesn’t. it follows after life has already been created. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the ancestors were worse in terms of complexity, it just means that they were able to divide into various other organisms who are individually better suited for survival. Another thing is that, in evolution and natural selection, it isn’t the strongest that survives all the time. Some other times, it is in fact the luckiest that survive, here is an easy scenario, in a group of organisms, the fastest and most intelligent specimens had all gone to gather food for the others back at their base, but unfortunately, they die off cos they were outsmarted by their better suited predators. It leaves the weaker and less effective members of the group free to mate with the females, coz hey, even if evolution isn’t d smartest among mother nature’s creation, at least it knows its better for the species to survive rather that for it to die off in anticipation of the alpha males of said community.


5. Evolution happens entirely by chance
Some of it might happen by chance a la cellular division etc. but the usual final product of evolution is usually a species that is different from the ancestor which might or might not give it an advantage over others.

He has a special group of law officials that were created specifically to enforce dis law.
The people (the youths) found on the other side of dis law are beaten severely!!! And are charged abt 5 thousand naira per offence.
The offences include-- sagging ur pants, having obama hairstyle, growing too much afro, for ladies, any clothing dt exposes too much cleavage, too tight etc.

It is really obvious dat most people posting on this thread must have done these exams quite a long time ago. I am not saying dat all of d students dat failed in exams were poorly marked. But it still remains true dat a lot of all these national examinations are really poorly poorly marked.
I am looking @ NECO specifically. Any studnt dt sat for Neco in recent times will surely av nothing cheery to say.
Some other times, exams mark r boosted. Yes, dts right, for those of u nt based in Naija, there r frequent errors in d awarding of marks to d students even in Jamb. I remember in 2009, my marks were boosted frm 242 to 270. Think of instances where errors will go unnoticed etc. What of ppl dat actually merit 232, after subtracting dos marks dat r due to errors.


All I am saying is with all d distraction in d world 2day. The present youth have still proven to be d smartest and most intelligent yet.!!

Hi everyone.
I am supposed to travel to Ukraine to study medicine, but I did a little research nd I saw a lot of negative stuff as regards racism in d region. Also, what I read frm d on goin Euros concerning tacist attacks isn't welcoming at all.
All I want is first-hand experience of people who are there.
