I av posted this before, but I want to hear what people av to say concerning the matter, because it has been a really long time. What are your opinions? I personally think that aliens are a possibility. There are millions of planets in the known part of the universe. What is the probability of finding one with the same conditions that support life like on earth. This civilization would be just like earth with some slight differences. Assume that in a box, there are 100 balls, 40 are red and 60 are blue. If we are studying and we take 5 balls out, these 5 are blue, we cannot assume that all the balls in the box are blue. In that sense, we cannot arrive at the conclusion that life does not exist somewhere else because we have studied a few thousand planets out of millions. That is my first opinion. Secondly, what if we are looking in the wrong direction, because we are all carbon-based organisms who breath in oxygen, drink water, release oxygen and rely on photosynthesis. What if the other aliens are nitrogen-based organisms, who breath in ammonia, drink benzene, release methane and rely on chemosynthesis. Some organisms might be living right under our noses without us realizing it because we are busy looking for other things. Its implication on religion is two-sided, it is 1. Positive, meaning that God created other beings apart from us who will also be judged on the Final day. 2. Negative, meaning that the whole creation story has been ridiculed since we are supposed to be special beings created in His image and Likeness. Don't you agree, post. |
I am almost there, I just neeeed someone to sufficiently convince me, and dat will be all!!!! Some religious people are just plain 'daft'! |
If u want to start programming, u can start with python. U can easily google it. Go to their official website nd download it as well as many free ebooks to get you started. All those names u hear r just other programming languages. A programming language is just wat u enter to d computer for it to do what u want it to do. Good luck. |
@Enigma, Who will teach us all that we need to know ![]() GOD![]() |
buzugee: no but you are dead. spiritually dead, that isThis is a forum. Either support the argument or oppose it. Or otherwise at least make meaningful contributions!!!! |
Enigma: Sorry, I'm not contributing anything of particular substance.I googled d name nd my oh my!!!! |
Since you two have decided to pick on d new guy, can u enlighten us with a solid arguement dat can not be countered. |
Following from the problem of evil arguement, It must be understood 'God who in every sense of it, must av all those properties to be considered as 'God'. An immoral God , which follows the argument hence is assuming that, an immoral God is NO GOD at all. I just refuse to go without at least posting back a counter argument. |
God is all powerful. He can do all things He can create a stone dat is so heavy he can't carry it 1.He can't carry it, He can't do all things God is not all powerful 2.He can't create it He can't do all things He can't do all things, he isn't God!!! |
God exists. . God is omnipotent, omniscient, and perfectly good. . A perfectly good being would want to prevent all evils. . An omniscient being knows every way in which evils can come into existence. . An omnipotent being, who knows every way in which an evil can come into existence, has the power to prevent that evil from coming into existence. . A being who knows every way in which an evil can come into existence, who is able to prevent that evil from coming into existence, and who wants to do so, would prevent the existence of that evil. . If there exists an omnipotent, omniscient, and perfectly good being, then no evil exists. . Evil exists (logical contradiction). So....is God dead ![]() |
I hope that d author of d post could read all I will write. There are quite a lot of problems all which must be tackled sufficiently! I am not talking abt Africa, I am regarding only Nigeria. Even so, I can only speak for d south west, of which I am a proud citizen. 1. Culture: I shall disagree with d poster dat referred to 'respect' as an obstacle. I believe respect is serving a really important function in d society. What I stand against is dat aspect of d culture dat solidly opposes all scientific innovations nd reinforces d believe in d unknown and supposedly dangerous spiritual realm. Any innovation must stand against strong disaproval because it will b considered blasphemous! Dis can also be seen in European cultures as there are frquent examples of their barbaric origins(e.g witch burning, sentencing of many gr8 philosophers nd scientists to unwaranted death). What must be noted here is dat d Europeans overcame their fear of the unknown nd truly invented 'science' nd made It their leader. Nigerians r stuck in d past, we cannot overcome our morbid fear of d 'unknown' nature_nd govern nd explore it! 2. Religion: this is a mere continuation of my argument on culture. We need to stop letting d church nd oda religious entities dictate our daily life activities and a significant aspect of the society. We need to make science d leader, only den can we make improvements technology wise nd only then can we build a truely gr8 nation. 3. D last is just 'luck'. We just avnt been lucky enough to av good leaders who will guide d people with our interests at heart. Some might want to argue dat there are some deeply religious countries that r considered successful by today's standards. They are able to govern themselves because in such states abt 95 per cent of d nation would abide by d religion! Nigeria is unmistably diverse. A state ruled by religion can compound issues nd create unwanted frictions, dis can be seen in d form of religious riots, boko haram amng odas. Before goin too far, I believe dat is anoda strng point against religion nd its harmful tentacles wc it has spread throughout d nation. I hope it will be better on day, hopefully in my lifetime. |

I bought this commonly available disks at computer village which contains fifa 11. After i finished installing and i was about to crack the game. My antivirus immediately gave me a warning that the file has a virus. Because i was so eager to play the game. i ignored the warning and i ran the file. Afterwards i scanned the pc and i discovered that the malignant virus had spread to most of the computer files. I removed all the traces of the virus and i have not been able to play this amazing game. Anybody out there with thesame problem or solution, |
I recently bought this game. After installation, I played it and I noticed that it kept hanging and skipping. My computer meets the system requirements for the low graphics quality and even laptops not as powerful as mine play the game without hassles. Fellow Nigerians, any suggestions. |
Is it possible to get admission for medicine without offering biology in jamb |
This is a very popular arguement among my friends. Pls who is better according to your own opinion? Dont be bias due to your club, |
That is true, But what we lack in age we have in pack loads of experience, I guess this is an upside. |
I myself am a small Chelsea fan, but i am concerned with the way Ancelotti is behaving about buying new players. What are your views? How do you think we will compete with big teams like Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City etc, in the premier league in this season and subsequent ones. |
Fifa 10 for pc |
Can anyone help me with the installation of Fifa 10, I have bought more than 3 copies from different places and it gives me the same error note, Can any guy guide me through, cause I have learnt that it requires a special method of installation, ![]() |

Nigerians dont have any sense of humour at all, The joke is in the continual use of Special, |
I heard this from someone,,,,,, The other day my kids were disturbing me for money for SPECIAL clothes for christmas. I took a trip down memory lane and told them that back when I was a kid we were so poor, having clothes was SPECIAL. |
It is simply ANACHRONISTIC. ![]() |

bored to tears |
I am currently a medical student. ![]() |
You are quite right, it would require an infinite amount of energy because we would achieve an infinite amount of mass. |
Another of my many questions, even though i know the correct answer, I feel compelled to ask my fellow Nigerians on their views ![]() ![]() |
What I only wanted to test was average Nigerians ability to think outside the box. |
''This idea was first stated explicitly in Newton’s Principia Mathematica, published in 1687, and is known as Newton’s first law. What happens to a body when a force does act on it is given by Newton’s second law. This states that the body will accelerate, or change its speed, at a rate that is proportional to the force. (For example, the acceleration is twice as great if the force is twice as great.) The acceleration is also smaller the greater the mass (or quantity of matter) of the body. (The same force acting on a body of twice the mass will produce half the acceleration.) A familiar example is provided by a car: the more powerful the engine, the greater the acceleration, but the heavier the car, the smaller the acceleration for the same engine. In addition to his laws of motion, Newton discovered a law to describe the force of gravity, which states that every body attracts every other body with a force that is proportional to the mass of each body. Thus the force between two bodies would be twice as strong if one of the bodies (say, body A) had its mass doubled. This is what you might expect because one could think of the new body A as being made of two bodies with the original mass. Each would attract body B with the original force. Thus the total force between A and B would be twice the original force. And if, say, one of the bodies had twice the mass, and the other had three times the mass, then the force would be six times as strong. One can now see why all bodies fall at the same rate: a body of twice the weight will have twice the force of gravity pulling it down, but it will also have twice the mass. According to Newton’s second law, these two effects will exactly cancel each other, so the acceleration will be the same in all cases.'' from A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking |
