Two personnel of the Nigerian army have been killed following an ambush on a military convoy by gunmen suspected to be terrorists in Katsina State.

The deceased soldiers and others were ambushed on Wednesday evening along Shimfida–Gurbi Road, Jibia Local Government Area of the state.
Four civilians were also killed during the attack. SaharaReporters gathered that the military convoy was escorting residents of Shimfida community to Jibia town.
Also, an officer was declared missing in action and feared abducted by the terrorists.
“An Armoured Personnel Carrier ran over IEDs planted by the terrorists, killing two soldiers and four civilians,” a source said.
“Some bandits were also killed while others sustained life-threatening injuries.”
Katsina, despite being the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, has witnessed sporadic attacks by bandits and kidnappers that have claimed the lives of many.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Ahmed Halilu as the Managing Director of Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company, NSPMC Plc, DAILY NIGERIAN reports.


Halilu, an elder brother of First Lady Aisha Buhari, is heading the company in an acting capacity following the resignation of Abbas Masanawa on May 16.
In addition to printing the banknotes and the postal orders of Nigeria, the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc also prints some electoral materials for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The company, also referred to as The MINT, was established in 1963 by the Nigerian government in partnership with De La Rue of the UK and is under the Central Bank of Nigeria.
It began full operation in 1965, producing currency notes and coins for the CBN as well as a wide range of security documents for the government, commercial banks, and blue-chip companies, among others.

It was learnt that the President approved the appointment after the recommendation of the governor of the Central Bank Godwin Emefiele, who serves as the NSPMC board chairman.

Halilu has over 23 years of experience in the Banking industry having worked with African International Bank Limited, AIB and Zenith Bank Plc.
He was a participant in Senior Executive Course 39, 2017 of the National Institute for Policy & Strategic Studies in Kuru, Jos.
Halilu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture B. (Agric), a master's degree in Business Administration as well a master's degree in International Affairs & Diplomacy all from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
He is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management, NIM.

I am struck and intrigued by the news report linking "highly placed" Nigerians to oil theft. The same has been the case with financing insurgency and Boko Haram. When will FGN summon the political will to publicly name such persons?

In the National Interest, there should be no sacred cows.

This your logic doesn't follow. Cos I said time is running fast, not human beings. So If an athlete usually finishes in 10 secs, then he'll be finishing maybe in 40 or 60 secs because the time is now counting and running faster than usual.

Who else notice the way time flies these days? It's so alarming. Like you may time yourself for an event or outing and just feel like lazing around for a few mins before the set time and boom! you're already 30 mins behind time.


Activities you would normally carry out in 30 mins now goes down in 2hours not because you're slow but due to the speed of time.

This new development now always puts me in a frenzy every day especially when I have engagements that are time bound.

Hope I'm not alone here.
