Ihedioha Set To Spend 100 Million Naira On NonsoNkwa To Sponsor Violent Protests In Imo - Group Alleges

A socio-political group, Imo Democracy Defenders Forum (IDDF) has warned the ex-illegal governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha to desist on his alleged plots of making the state ungovernable through sponsorship of a cash and carry activist Mr. Theodore Chinonso Uba popularly known as NonsoNkwa to carry out series of protests in Imo with a view of causing anarchy and unrest in the state.

The group said it received information that the former Deputy Speaker is set to release the sum of 100 Million Naira to the radio activist to import thugs from neighbouring states in the guise of protest in order to breed restiveness and anarchy.

In a statement on Thursday by IDDF's Director of Communications, Mr. Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, the forum described the alleged plan as highly irresponsible, a misplaced priority, unpatriotic and a smack of insensitivity.

It read: “The attention of Imo Democracy Defenders Forum has been drawn to an alleged plot by Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha in concert with other disgruntled politicians to spend about one Hundred Million Naira on an unpatriotic organization of a violent protest on the soil of Owerri.”

“This is coming at a time when the state has witnessed series of sponsored terrorism attack against the state and when it seems like the state has defeated the dissidents and relative peace returned to the state.

“The allegations have become worst by the fact that the PDP leader has refused to condemn the activities of terrorists in the state further pushing the narratives that his body language and that of his party which recently urged the state government to withdraw security from the streets of the state have been at home with the security situations.

“We refuse to treat this as mere speculation as the antecedents of the former illegal governor has it that this is not far from the style he has always adopted."

"Chief Ihedioha and his cohorts and indeed NonsoNkwa and the other people he is contracting for this hatchet job of the destabilization of the state must realize that they are toying with the peace and safety of Imo people and as such must rescind now their evil and unpatriotic plans to set the state ablaze.

“We therefore call on the state government and indeed the security agencies to beam their searchlight on the heinous plots of these unpatriotic elements to cause trouble in the state."

MAKE USE OF EXIT DOOR DURING AIR EMERGENCY

The rate of air disaster these days is unbecoming and habitual. Will I say it occurs due to our recklessness or neglect of certain tutorials about Air Emergency?
This is left for the appropriate authorities to answer.

Sad news broke out yesterday that Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 others crash landed on Emergency return to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport due to Engine failure as reported.

When such situation occurs mid air and out of control of the pilot, announcement are supposed to be made to notify the occupants of the precarious situation at hand.

The occupants are either told to fasten their seat belt or put on their parachute vest in preparation for exit.

The beechcraft 350 that crashed have either 1 or 2 Emergency Exit doors as shown in the picture below. Had it been the aircraft made Provisions for parachute for emergency situations like this, more life's would have been saved.

On this note, I urge the Federal Civil Aviation Authority (FCAA), Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and Minister of Aviation to organize 2 weeks workshop on "AVIATION SAFETY" for the safety of their Passengers.

I pray, May we not experience such Air Disaster on our land again.

Imo Deputy Speaker Pays Unscheduled Visit To St Mary's Joint Hospital, Amaigbo.

- Guarantee of Government intervention

In line with Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Recovery agenda of HE Gov Hope Uzodimma, Imo Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu recently paid unscheduled visit to St Mary's Joint Hospital Amaigbo to ascertain the level of Infrastructural decay at the Medical facility.

Iwuanyanwu who was taken round to the affected sites by the Medical personnel on ground fumed at the level of Infrastructural decay, accompanied with Rickety state of Medical equipments, Lavatories, surgical room and Unhealthy environs.

He bemoaned the ramshackle state of the health facilities, pointing fingers at past administrations for neglecting the first ever indigenous hospital in Nwangele, established in the 1950's which have saved many life's and served purposes of which it was established.

He promised to bring succor to the health facility by reporting to appropriate authorities for actions to be taken towards repositioning the health facility to standard of which it was known for.

Reacting, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital Dr. Ewuzie, Matron Genevieve Nnorom and Sister in-charge - Sis Ofoma thanked the Deputy Speaker for demostration of love, empathy & harkening to their Clarion call to address the affairs surrounding the health facility which is unarguably near to extinction.

Water plays a central and critical role in all aspects of life and exceptional ingredients for human existence. The inadequacy in the supply of portable and safe water has only recently taken centre stage in global reflection as a serious and threatening phenomenon. Communities and individuals can survive but only a few days without clean and safe drinking water.

Based on the information above and in a bid to provide safe water for the rural Communities, Rt Hon Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, Member Representing Nwangele State Constituency today commissioned 3 out of 11 completed motorized borehole project in his state Constituency. The Communities includes Addi Central School Abajah (Abajah Ward 2), Amutakwu Amaju Village (Amaigbo Ward 3) and Umuduru-Uzo Village (Amaigbo Ward 4).

According to the holy scriptures as recorded by Saint Matthew 20:26 - “But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.”

Amara Iwuanyanwu today have exhibited the highest magnitude of leadership potentials by emerging as "Servant Leader" who deemed it fit to cushion the stress of going to the stream by providing a clean and safer water for consumption for rural dwellers in Nwangele LGA through sinking over 11 completed water project.

It was total shut down in the Communities affected as market women, the aged, fathers, ward leaders, Youth wings, Community leaders and their executives, cultural troups and the youths gathered in their numbers for warmth reception of "MR CAPACITY".

Commissioning the projects, the Representative of Imo State Governor, Barr. Dr. Tony Umezurike (Commissioner for Water Resources) commended Amara Iwuanyanwu for coming up with this huge initiative by providing water for the rural dwellers. This is coming at heels when there is urgent need for portable water supply that will grant succor to the communities affected.

The Commissioner applauded the community for apportioning land for successful takeoff of the water project, promising to keep in touch with the communities involved to ensure the water serves it's purpose and for efficiency year in year out.

He restated with an adage which says "To whom much is given, much is expected" here is water, and water is life, I want to assure you that more is to come. All we ask is your support and encouragements.

Finally, he encouraged the rural dwellers to always throw their maximum support and prayers to Amara Iwuanyanwu so as to deliver on the goals and aspirations of which he was elected into the hallowed chambers.

Speaking at the event, the Member Representing Nwangele State Constituency & Imo State Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu thanked the communities present for giving him the opportunity to serve, as the water project was his first campaign promise he made before, during and aftermath of 2019 general election. He discovered the need for provision of motor park for the market as most victims of the accident were motorists who parked beside the road for onward movement to their various destinations.

He also visited the hospital to ensure adequate medical attention is administered to the wounded and equally cleared all the medical bills of the hospitalized victims.

Later, he paid a condolence visit to the family of Emeka Olisakwe A.K.A Koto whose body was dismembered by the heavy duty truck and commiserated with the family onbehalf of Nwangele State Constituency which he represents and Imo State Govt in general.

Gov. Uzodimma after swearing-in embarked on massive renovation of Dan Anyiam Stadium to International standard. The stadium which have recorded no matches due to deplorable conditions was left unattended-to by past administrations in the state starting with Rochas Okorocha and Emeka Ihedioha.

Talking about the welfare of the players & sundry, Gov Uzodimma procured and furnished campsite for Heartland FC and it's officials with state of art facilities in place; Also prompt payments of salaries, match bonuses and recently gifting of 2 brand new coaster vans to aid movement of players and officials.

Imo State Sports Ministry is now well equiped and up-to-date to train their athletes in any aspects of sports, (Football⚽, handball �, basket ball ⛹️, long tennis �, shortput, Table � Tennis, Long jump, cycling �, rally � etc.

With the just concluded National Sports Festival held at Edo state, Imo contingents made Imo state proud by clinching overall 10th position and 1st Position among South-Eastern states carting home with 10 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 26 bronze medals in the just concluded Edo 2020 National Sports Festival. In the spirit of Easter celebration, Imo Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon AmaraChyna Iwuanyanwu gifts a brand new 3 bedroom apartment to Mrs Joyce, a relative and widow who hails from Amuzi, Dim Na Nume-Isu Nwangele LGA, Imo state.

Before the surprise gift, Mrs Joyce have lived all her life in a thatched mud house before the prompt intervention Amara Iwuanyanwu who never relent in exercising the mandate bestowed upon him by his teaming Constituents.

This show of kindness and love have relieved the widow the stress and sufferings accompanied with leaky Palm thatch encountered especially during the rainy season.

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Imo State Chapter confers Amara Iwuanyanwu as Distinguished Patron of the Association.

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Imo State Chapter yesterday, conferred Rt Hon AmaraChyna Iwuanyanwu as Patron of the Association.

SWAN Chairman, Rtn Everest Ezihe announced this during a courtesy call to the Deputy Speaker at his lodge in Owerri, Imo State.

Rtn Ezihe stated that "SWAN will honour you, Rt Hon AmaraChynaIwuanyanwu, House Committee on Youths, Sports and Entrepreneurship with an award of honour in recognition of your immense contributions in overall Development and Transformation of Sports in Imo State and Nigeria at large, especially in football".

Responding, Deputy Speaker IMHA, Rt Hon AmaraChyna Iwuanyanwu dedicated the award to Sports lovers while pledging to sustain the development of Sports in the state. He assured the Association that he will live up to the requirements of the award given to him by ensuring that sports becomes a tool and mainstay for youth empowerment with the support of his Excellency Gov. OHANEZE NDI IGBO ELDERS COUNCIL MEETS IN IMO STATE; DISCUSSES THE UNITY OF IGBOS & NEED FOR RESTRUCTURING


For fairness, equity and harmonious co-existence of Nigerians, there is need for the global unity of Ndi Igbo and restructuring.

The Ohaneze Ndi Igbo Worldwide Elders Council meeting led by Prof. George Obiozor, The President-General Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, was well attended in Owerri as all Igbo leaders gathered at the Imo state Government House Banquet Hall to deliberate on the welfare of Ndi Igbo.

Professor George Obiozor, highlighting the points of the communiqué disclosed that:
- On the Issue of Security/insecurity which has become worrisome in the country agreed on need for a strong security outfit that will address issues that are peculiar to the nature, culture, tradition, topography etc of the people and also give support to efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

- On the issue of the Economy of Ndi Igbo, The communiqué emphasized the need to further pursue and implement the Alaigbo Stabilization Fund which was initiated by the immediate past administration of Chief Nnia Nwodo. They therefore adopted the report of the Alaigbo Stabilization Funds Steering Committee for the improvement and investment into the welfare and growth of Igbo land.

- On Nigerian President of Igbo extraction, the Elders Council mandated the President General to work in close consultation with the Igbo socio-cultural and political intelligential to pursue the task of ensuring that the Igbo take their turn in producing the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2023 General elections. This, the council insisted, is only achievable in consultation with other ethnic nationalities as the elders urged every Igbo man or woman with the needed capacity to show interest in the 2023 presidential race.

- On Education, the Council mandated Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership to pursue a deliberate policy of ensuring a noticeable and measurable improvement in the quality of education in Igboland.

Also they noted that while it recognizes the right of every Nigerian to freedom of speech, nobody henceforth, has the authority to speak on behalf of Ndigbo except the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. To that effect, the Elders therefore directed the Ohanaeze leadership to go into direct talks with other ethnic groups and governments at all levels on ways of finding a lasting solution to the myriads of problems facing the Nigerians nation.

The host Governor and Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma commended the galaxy of Igbo leaders which comprised of the intelligentials, religious leaders, business men and women, politicians and other professionals gathered under one roof to reinvent the Igbo spirit, especially now the country is passing through a difficult phase.

Governor Uzodimma encouraged them to look into the existing security arrangements in the various Igbo States and communities and see how best to support and equip them to continue to secure Igboland while the various Governors look for ways of more sophisticated security arrangements for the entire zone.

Owerri Zone Leaders of Thought, a Socio-Cultural Organization today gathered in the capital city of Owerri on Saturday March 14th 2020 to commend Imo State Governor, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma for restoring integrity, dignity and due process in governance of Imo State since his inauguration into office, while acknowledgding the physical and infrastructural developement aimed at restoring the pride of Owerri Capital City in particular and developemental projects scattered in every nooks and crannies of the state.

Heartland FC of Owerri suffers minor set back with a 2-0 win from Enugu Rangers FC

Naze Millionaire today suffered minor setback at the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League against Enugu Rangers at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu State.

Heartland, fielding a near full-strength team, failed to come through against Rangers who played them to 2:0 win in the week 13 of NPFL.

Captain of the club who spoke to newsmen shortly after the game: “It’s a huge setback for the club. “We’re going to have to make necessary changes in our next game in the league.”

At the end of the match, the Chairman House Committee on Sports IMHA Rt Hon AmaraChyna Iwuanyanwu encouraged the players not to be down-spirited, rather build on the positives from the match and apply it on other matches to be played by the club.

The Imo State Government today has recovered the Royal Palm Estate along Akachi road in compliance with the directive of the Imo state gazette on the report of the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on recovery of Lands and other related matters.

This is as a result of the recommendation of the commission that all illegal lands and structures acquired by the administrations between 2006-2019.

The present administration is therefore not resting on its oars in recovering all the stolen properties of the state especially those carted away by the previous administration and in line with the 3R mantra initiative of Gov. Hope Uzodimma, the state must continue to work in line with the relevant laws and recommendations of government agencies and commissions no matter whose ox is gored.

You may recall that the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on Recovery of Lands and Other Related Matters was one out of the many panels constituted by the Emeka Ihedioha’s administration which Gov. Hope Uzodimma has demonstrated high sense of political maturity and playing above party politics to allow the panels work and adopt their recommendations.

The Imo State Government today has recovered the Royal Palm Estate along Akachi road in compliance with the directive of the Imo state gazette on the report of the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on recovery of Lands and other related matters.

Valentine celebration: Iwuanyanwu fetes HeartLand FC of Owerri for a lunch.

House Committee Chairman on Youths, Sports, Entrepreneurship, Rt Hon AmaraChyna Iwuanyanwu hosts the Team and Management of HeartLand Football Club at his Residence in Owerri, Imo state capital.

The Grand lavish party which was put together by Rt Hon Iwuanyanwu to show support, commitment and encouragement to the players will also serve as morale booster for future games as the energetic and red-eyed players showed great determination of purpose to deliver on the mandate bestowed on them.

It was a time of testimony as the players showed great satisfaction at the level of treatments meted on them by His Excellency, Gov Hope Uzodimma since the inception of his administration in January 2020, including recent Procurement of Ultra-modern camping site for the team and its management as second to none.

The team coach / technical adviser, Mr Fidelis Illechukwu used the medium to thank the his Excellency, Gov Hope Uzodimma and House Committee Chairman on Sports, Rt Hon Iwuanyanwu *who is sighting HeartLand FC,* for catering for their welfare, prompt payment of enumeration which has been denied of them by previous administrations in the state. He promised never to let them down, as they should expect more wins in future games.

On the other, the Captain of the team, Ikechukwu Vincent Ezenwa applauded Gov Hope Uzodimma for show of support to the team from inception of the season, couple with payment of over 25 million naira to FIFA to lift the ban on some HeartLand players to participate in the league, purchase of brand new vans for the club. He promised that they owe the Governor a Continental ticket as a reward for his benevolence, care, support and encouragements.

IMO STATE GOVERNMENT RECOVERS EASTERN PALM UNIVERSITY FROM ROCHAS OKOROCHA

The Imo State Executive Council in accordance with the provisions and recommendations of the white paper on land use and related matters, has recovered the Eastern Palm University illegally claimed by Rochas Okorocha.

According to the white paper, the Eastern Palm University was accredited by the National University Commission (NUC) as the second state University owned by Imo State. Hence the move by Governor Hope Uzodimma administration to recover what rightfully belongs to Ndi Imo.

It is worthy of note that The essence of “RECOVERY” for every government is not necessarily an act of witch-hunt or a ploy to disparage the person or group of persons involved but often it goes a long way to show how responsible and responsive the government of the day is when it comes to the issues that affect the state especially when it involves the commonwealth of the people.

It is no longer news that the Eastern Palm University, Ogboko was built and equipped with state resources by the then administration of Rochas Okorocha who is still making unfounded claims as to the ownership of the higher institution of learning. This prompted the immediate past Imo state government to swiftly set up a panel of inquiry to ascertain amongst many other things the owner of the institution.

With Gov. Hope Uzodimma coming onboard, Rochas Okorocha sought ways to influence the panel through the Governor which was outrightly refused. Hence, the incessant attacks by Rochas Okorocha and his cronies against the Governor but this in no way did not stop the Governor from continuing and supporting the Panel which later made it clear that the Eastern Palm University is a property of the Imo State Government.

Eastern Palm University for some time now has been under lock and keys for obvious reasons which are not far fetched from the unceremonious attacks of the Rochas Okorocha led henchmen all to get hold of the state property for their gain which Imolites have condemned in strong terms.

“Council has directed the relevant ministries to take immediate step to implement the decision of council and so for the avoidance of doubt, Eastern Palm University is a state owned University “ Emelumba stated.

Today, Gov. Hope Uzodimma has succeeded in recovering the Eastern Palm University from Rochas Okorocha and his cohorts. This is a true testament of the Governor’s “RECOVERY” mantra initiative and a clear indication that he is after the general good of Imolites rather than any political sentiment. It is again a win for democracy and Imolites as we have expounded on the concept of “Ohasherism” for Rochas Okorocha and his collaborators.

As the State Government has taken over the Eastern Palm University and hitherto received the recommendations of the Panel on the institution, there is no doubt that the state government will work out modalities as to get back the institution to its feet, make proper arrangements for it to accommodate our teeming admission seeking populace and at the end give Imolites more reasons to be proud of her Government.

Imo State Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon AmaraChyna Iwuanyanwu have commended President Muhammadu Buhari for fulfilling his campaign promises as it concerns the building of second Niger Bridge for the South-East zone at the tone of 366 Billion naira.

Iwuanyanwu who is among the South-East delegation at the inspection tour ably led by Imo State Governor, H.E Gov Hope Uzodimma extolled the good virtues of Uzodimma and in his wisdom for creating an avenue for the world to feel and assess the great impact of President Buhari's administration in South-East with the construction of over 40 decade 2nd Niger bridge; which past administrations could not achieve, but APC under President Buhari made it a reality to behold.


Rt Hon AmaraChyna Iwuanyanwu, who broke the record as the youngest deputy speaker in the history of Nigeria thanked President Buhari onbehalf of Igbo youths for the bridge construction ongoing which is 55% completed and promised to repay him with massive registration of youths of APC in the South-East at the ongoing registration & Revalidation exercise in 36 states of the federation to compliment the efforts of the presidency in the region.

The Second Niger Bridge was first proposed during the 1978/1979 political campaign by then candidate of NPN, Shehu Shagari.


In 1987, Minister for Works and Housing Abubakar Umar, under General Ibrahim Babangida regime asked engineers to design The Second Niger Bridge due to rising challenges.


Under the subsequent military governments, the projects received little or no attention till the return of civilian rule under President Olusegun Obasanjo who promised to deliver a second Niger River bridge of our dreams.


His administration failed to achieve it till five days before he handed over to then incoming administration of Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, when the project was flagged off by Obasanjo in Asaba. With the death of President Yar'adua marred the progress of the project.


During Jonathan administration, nothing was done at the project site till the inception of President Buhari as GCON, GCFR in 2014 and took over the affairs of the bridge.

The bridge which was started in September 1 2018 will terminate by February 2022 spanning over 1.6 km. The bridge cost 366 Billion Naira and is being handled by Julius Berger Construction Company.


The ongoing bridge construction will go through Asaba to Ozubulu and Ogbaru areas of Anambra State, Nigeria.

Light as an essential ingredients of daily living has been regarded as a major driving force of development in any viable society.

To this end, the member Representing Nwangele State Constituency, Rt Hon AmaraChyna flagged off operation light-up Nwangele on 3rd June 2020 to address the issues of power outage in some Communities in Nwangele LGA.

Today, Nwangele State Constituency are already reaping the fruit of their mandate given to Mr Capacity as three (3) Communities have their age long electricity bills worth millions of naira settled and light restored. The Community includes, Umuokpu in Abajah, St. Mary's Umuorlu in Isu Ancient Kingdom and Amasato Amaju, in Amaigbo Autonomous Community.

Nwangele Electricity Committee Chairman, Chief Philip Uwazuruonye, an elder statesman in Nwangele who has been working round the clock to deliver on the task given to him by Rt Hon Iwuanyanwu assured other Communities that the rescue mission will get to them within a short period of time. He further maintained that the above Communities who benefited should ensure prompt payment of electricity bills to avert future accumulation.

The erstwhile governor of Imo state, Sen. Rochas Anayo Okorocha, senator representing Imo West senatorial district floats new party to be called "New Nigeria Movement".

Okorocha made this known when he held a round table Meeting with his Political structure cut across the 36 states of the federations.

Okorocha emphasized the need for a change in the political system in the country. He described APC whom he was a founding member to have failed the entire country as the masses does not feel the impact of its existence.

He called on his structures and supporters to remain intact and steadfast, as a new Nigeria Nation will be born through 'NNM party" which will pave way for his ambition to contest for the president, Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023 general elections.

A communique issued to journalists after it's meeting named Professor Obiareri (Fmr Commissioner for information and A.A Senatorial Aspirant in Okigwe zone) as co-ordinator NNM Party, Imo State.

The communiqué reads: The inaugural meeting of the New Nigeria Movement (NNM), a socio-political group made up of patriotic and credible Nigerians who is zealous to pave a chapter was held at Rochas foundation Okigwe round about, Imo State Nigeria Abuja, on the 23rd of January, 2021.

“The pioneer members are drawn from the 36 states of the federation united with desire to pave a way for a political direction for equity, trust, unity and mutual cooexistence.

NNM is made up of experienced leaders of conscience and democratic ideologues to drive a new popular political intervention that will urgently save Nigeria from the precipice of political anarchy and civil strife.

The communiqué stated that the group comprises of Merger with Action Alliance Party AA and Factional-APC

Those present at the meeting includes, Former Governorship candidate, federal house of Reps member's, structures, supporters, NNM 36 state co-ordinators amongst others.

In weeks to come Rochas Okorocha will be perfecting plans for his official decamping from APC to NNM to further his presidential ambition.

Today the Imo state Government through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has made a shocking finding and revelation where a warehouse was discovered with millions of naira worth of properties meant for the development of the state.

Conducting the media men round the warehouse, the Hon. Commissioner for Commerce and Industry Comr. Simon Ebegbulem revealed that it is unfortunate that anybody or group of persons can decide to rob the people of their common wealth all for their selfish interest and for personal aggrandizement.

The shocking discovery was made following the directive of the governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma who in the past has revealed the many atrocities of the Rochas Okorocha’s administration of which this is one of it and his firm resolve to ensure that all government looted properties are recovered. It is evident that the shared prosperity government and its 3R mantra initiative is very much focused on getting the state to work again by recovering all that has been stolen by crude politicians.

The warehouse which is located at Aba/Owerri road is loaded with solar panels and its components, traffic lights, inverters,street lights, decorative trees, heavy machinery, mixers, sewing machines. Fresh tracks of trailer tyres were seen on the spot which shows that some items have been moved from the warehouse already.

By this singular act of the state government, it has read the riot act to looters and those in possession of government properties illegally to return it now or risk prosecution.

MASSIVE ROAD CONSTRUCTION COMMENCES ON NEKEDE-IHIAGWA ROAD

The people of Nekede-Ihiagwa communities can now heave a sigh of relief as the shared prosperity government of Gov. Hope Uzodimma has commence the construction of Nekede-Ihiagwa road.

It is on record that the previous administration in the state only performed the flag off of the road with so much media hype and left no contractor on site. This singular act further launched the road into a deplorable state and became a nightmare for both motorists and commuters as well as business owners around the area.

It is applaudable and worth commending that this is one of the roads that the Gov. Hope Uzodimma administration decided to continue with by bringing a contractor to site and today construction has began in earnest.

This alone has further dwarfed the intentions of the naysayers and pitched them against their own words as neither the governor himself nor his administration is nonchalant or feigning ignorance of the deplorable state of Nekede-Ihiagwa road, instead the shared prosperity government of Gov. Hope Uzodimma was merely taking a comprehensive assessment of how to go about the construction and the choice of a contractor that can do a better job that Imolites will appreciate, in the long run.

It is no gainsaying that it is appropriate to thank Gov. Hope Uzodimma for the high spirit of continuity and his firm resolve to see to the construction of the Nekede-Ihiagwa road as indeed normalcy will gradually return, the hike in transport fare will reduce, businesses will begin to make turnovers and unwholesome activities on that road will come to an abrupt end.

We can therefore rest assured that other roads like this in the rural areas will not remain unnoticed as the present administration in the state is very much passionate about the state of our roads and will leave no stone unturned until they all wear a new look.

2021: A YEAR OF PROMISE AND DIVINE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

My dear good people of Imo State, It is a thing of great joy to address you on this New Year day. That we are among those who survived the exceptionally difficult year 2020 is worthy of celebration. We must give God the glory for his mercies upon our lives. I am indeed excited to welcome you to this divine year of 2021.

While I commend to God the souls of all the departed in the preceding year, I am profoundly grateful to Him for the privilege He granted us the living to see this new year.

It is an indisputable fact that 2020 was a very difficult year with its concomitant challenges especially the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic. Yet it was also the year that God in his infinite wisdom favoured us to take charge of the governance of our dear state.

It should never be lost on us that the economic growth of the world and our country was negatively impacted as a result of dwindling oil prices occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic. But I believe that God designed everything to bring out the tested leadership endowments he bestowed on us.

The first manifestation of this was in ensuring that our people were not swallowed by the suffocating economic doldrums that besieged the world and Nigeria.

As the cliche goes, necessity is the mother of invention. Difficult times challenge the wits to bring out uncommon creative ingenuity of leadership, to surmount the challenges of uncommon times. I believe that this was what played put in Imo State in 2020.

To the glory of God, we came out strong with visionary policies that repositioned our dear state for greater heights.

Undaunted, we remained firmly determined to serve you the good people of Imo State, better inspite of the daunting challenges we met on the ground.

Looking back, I feel very glad that inspite of the fact that I became your Governor at a most difficult time in the history of our state; it never deterred me from offering you quality service.

The reform in the civil service, the reverse of the infrastructure deficit, the improvement in the lives of our civil servants and the empowerment of youths were attended to with utmost vigour. Even the most unrelenting doubting Thomas will agree that our state capital is wearing a new look. Most of the roads that were a nightmare to road users by this time last year, because they were impassable, are now the delight of motorists because they have become motorable.

A massive reinvention of Owerri Capital City is ongoing. In no time our capital city will stand out in the country as a town planners delight, when the ongoing remodelling of seven roundabouts are completed

Our astute management of the COVID-19 crisis also saved a lot of lives. That's why I am appealing to all of us to continue to cooperate with the Government in observing all COVID-19 protocols. We should never allow ourselves to be part of the statistics of infections or death.

My beloved brothers and sisters, our deliberate and sustained efforts to automate the financial system in the state and eliminate fraud have yielded positive results. But it has also come with a price.

The orchestrated blackmail against the government, by the opposition parties and some partisan Labour leaders, is just one of such price we have had to pay.

These unpatriotic elements have continued to allege that we have not been paying salaries and pensions. Believe me, my beloved NdImo, what they are doing is nothing but the tepid attempt of corruption to fight back.

It is sheer wickedness and bankrupt falsehood designed to reverse the hard-earned gains we have recorded in our determined fight against public sector corruption.

It is sad to admit that the greatest bane of Imo State is a massively corrupt public service, oiled by a powerful cabal drawn from the political class, the public service and some members of the leadership of organised Labour. Not surprisingly, previous administrations were either overwhelmed by the cabal or simply compromised or chickened out of a fight. Because of our covenant with the Almighty God, we found the courage to fight this hydra-headed monster. Our motive was to secure our state from the hands of a few heartless Buccaneers who feed fat on a corrupt public service.

However afraid of losing the unjust privileges they hitherto enjoyed from a corrupt system, the opposition resorted to every unimaginable antic to discredit our success story. But they failed woefully because no one can deter us.

Let me make this clear: No amount of blackmail, falsehood or campaign of calumny will stop us from concluding our fight against public sector corruption. In addition to a new Imo of fully rehabilitated infrastructure and job opportunities to boost economic growth, the greatest legacy I want to bequeath to the next generation of Imo Leaders is a corruption-free public service that serves only the interest of the good people of Imo State. On this mission, no cabal can stop me.

Like I said a few days ago before the altar of God, almost everyone verified to receive salaries and pensions in the state has been paid. The few having problems, maybe because of double entries or multiple BVN, have been urged to approach the appropriate quarters or the head of service to clear themselves. But because the guilty are afraid, they have refused to comply.

However, the time is here to put an end to the mindless serial blackmail by this group over a non-existent claim of nonpayment of salaries.

Consequently, and as a further demonstration of our transparency and accountability, I have directed the ministry of information and strategy to publish the names of the over 40,000 civil servants and 21,000 pensioners who have fully been paid up to December 2020. This information is already on our website, but will still be published in the conventional media for the people to see and know that we mean business and to shame the perennial prophets of doom.

The names of the few who have refused to comply with the automation process will also be published.

This should serve as a final warning to those parading falsehood of non payment of salaries to shut up or publish their own list of those who have not been paid with all the relevant automation data, showing that they are real civil servants. Should they fail to do so or should they publish falsehood, then they will have to face the music of the legal consequences of their unpatriotic actions.

Beyond that, we have used the outgone year to lay a solid foundation for a new lmo State founded on our shared prosperity agenda. This year is not only the year of promise but that of divine accomplishments.

More and more quality roads will come on stream this year. The Owerri- Okigwe and Owerri- Orlu roads which will change the economic landscape of our state are expected to near completion this year.

Our health care delivery system which kicked off last year will be improved upon and sustained. Our new university and other educational pursuits would materialise while thousands of our youths would be taken off the unemployment market.

Our indigent rural dwellers will also have a new lease of life. We shall open up many rural roads this year, through quality road construction, and improve tremendously on primary health care delivery.

As we embrace the new year, let us march confidently knowing that we have a God who will never abandon us and that we also have a Government that deeply cares for the welfare of all lmo people and residents irrespective of political or religious affiliation.

Be rest assured that shared prosperity will manifest in every local government this year and that this shall be the year of great promise for everyone.

I know that recent security challenges in the state may be a source of worry to some of us. Let me use this opportunity to assure all Imo people that our security outfit, Operation Search and Flush, is on top of the situation. Your security is always guaranteed.

One thing I am sure of is that at the rate we are moving, my 2022 New Year gift to Imo people will be a brand new Imo State that will be a marvel to all and the pride of every Imo person, to the glory of God

(2) Rapid deployment of educational supplies and materials to aid resumption of academic activities;

(3) Provision of Covid 19 prevention / control equipments including hand sanitizers, face masks etc.

Gov Hope Uzodimma releases 2 Billion for Youth Empowerment in Imo state

Speaking at todays broadcast dated October 24th 2020, Gov Uzodimma reiterated his commitment in empowering the youths of the state for sustainability and human capacity development.


In his words "My esteemed Imo youths, you will recall that during my interface with you, I assured you of a dedicated empowerment package, as part of my administration’s determination to address your needs. I am glad to announce to you therefore that my government has approved an immediate release of a takeoff fund of N2,000,000,000.00 (Two Billion Naira) out of N6,000,000,000 (Six Billion Naira) earmarked for an accelerated youth empowerment programme. The N2,000,000,000.00 (Two Billion Naira) take off fund will be deployed for the training of the first batch of the beneficiaries of this scheme which will commerce next week"

The programme will train in the 1st, 2nd & 3rd Batches, an estimated number of 500, 000 (Five Hundred Thousand), Imo youths in different skills acquisition programmes within the next two years, and provide them with start up capital to begin their own enterprises.

Known as the Imo State Special Youth Empowerment and Intervention Programme (IMYEIP), the State's Ministry of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship is directly charged with its immediate implementation. A training time table will be rolled out on Tuesday October 27th, 2020.

In this regard the 5000 Imo Youths who have already been trained in different skills are to be given their start up capital very soon. The ministry will work out the details for this in addition to the time table for other training sessions", he stated.

GOV. UZODIMMA KICKS OFF SUPPORT FOR POLICE REFORMS, INSPECTS STATE POLICE FACILITIES

In keeping to the tenants of democracy and harkening to the cries of NDI-IMO, the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has visited the State police facilities and raised a Committee of Inquiry to look into the complaints and grievances of the people against against SARS and the alleged police Brutality while he kicks off support for police reforms.

The state Governor stated that it is necessary to give the Nigerian Police the proposed training and make sure the welfare package available to the force is also reasonable.

His Excellency, in his tour, visited some of the police Baraks and other facilities of the Nigerian Police force to ascertain where to upgrade.

He further promised to support the Nigerian police training programs and help correct the alleged wrong attitude of the force.

"The youths are the future leaders of our country, they have made complaints and it is our responsibility as leaders to look into those complaints" Uzodimma stated. 

Present with the State Governor were: Chief Judge of State, Hon. Justice Ijeoma Agugua; Barr. C.O. Akaolisa, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of Imo State; the Commission of Police and his officers; Barr. Cosmos Iwu, SSG; Hon. Mrs. Nneamaka Okafor, SA to the Governor on New and Electronic Media and Some Exco members. 

"In agreement and unity, we will make sure that all those anomalies the people complain against the police force will be taken care of" Uzodimma stated.

IMO STATE YOUTHS SET TO PROTEST: ASK ROCHAS OKOROCHA TO RETURN 106 BILLION LOOTED FUNDS TO THE STATE

Imo state youth all over the 27 LGA of the state is set to embark on massive protest, demanding the return of looted funds gulping over 106 billion naira by former Governor of the state, Rochas Anayo Okorocha.

The youth who is demanding for return of the, said loot, Believe it will along way to help contract more standard roads in the state which was left un-attended to by Rochas Okorocha and 7 months epileptic administration of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha in the state.

The roads which was awarded to contractor's, Carried out substandard road construction while other were left un-attended to.

The roads includes:

Futo - Ihiagwa Road
Nekede Road
Owerri - Orlu Road
Owerri - Okigwe Road
MCC - Toronto
Mgbidi Road
Mbaise
Ihitte Uboma council road
and a whole lot of other death traps we have in our state!

They queried why Rochas, inasmuch as the FG gave bail out funds monthly gulping over billions of naira to support states in delivering dividends of democracy to its citizenry, Rochas rather plunged the said amount into his son-inlaws election which didn't see the light of the day.

We Imo youths demand that the 106billion should be returned to enable Gov Hope Uzodimma construct standard roads in the state which was left un-attended to by Rochas Okorocha.

Recall, Imo state have greatly suffered untold hardship in the hands of bad leadership right from inception of Rochas and Ihedioha administrations in the state.

Few months ago, erstwhile governor of Imo state, Emeka Ihedioha was accused of looting 163 billion naira of Imo tax payers money, Hitherto, is yet to return the said loot.

"We need God's total intervention in the state", the leader of the protest said.
