Hi Nairalanders, Please I have a question. I don't know if this is peculiar to me or common with most guys. I noticed, if I see a babe I admire, the interest may be like 95%. But if eventually we get down to be intimate, after that I lost interest drastically in the person.. 95% reduces to like 2% for some, Others like 10%,15%,0%... But if I really like the person so much, may reduce to 60%.. Anybody with similar experience? Way out? Advice please... |

Education / I Inherited 1,200 Cases Of Exam Malpractices —LASU VC by maxism2: 5:48pm On Jan 07, 2015 |
The Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University, LASU, Professor John Obafunwa, has revealed that when he became the administrative head of the institution, it had over 1,000 cases of examination malpractices pending. Obafunwa, who became the Vice Chancellor of LASU at the height of the crises that led to the removal of Lateef Hussein some years ago, said his nephew was one of those indicted among the 1,000 cases and that he refused to succumb to pressure from family members to save the student. The VC, who was summoned to the state House of Assembly with some of his management staff for disobeying a resolution of the House, also said he faced serious threats to his life when he decided to look into the cases and get the students punished. Prof. John Obafunwa Shocked by the revelation, Speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji asked for the total number of students in the institution and Professor Obafunwa gave the figure as 8,000. The House had summoned Obafunwa to appear and tell the lawmakers why he disobeyed the resolution that Mr. Toviho Oluwaseyi Ezekiel, a student who was not to allowed graduate over issues of examination malpractices, be pardoned and set free “on compassionate grounds.” The House took the resolution late last year after an ad-hoc committee it set up to look into the petition brough by Mr. Toviho, presented its report. It was learnt that Ezekiel was alleged to have committed the offence in his year one in 2010. Part of the sanction was that he would re-write the particular course, which he wrote while in year two. Since then, he continued to pay his fees, attend classes and write examinations. But while his mates were heading for the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Toviho said his name was not submitted to the NYSC even though his final result was released. He said he was told that he could not partake in the NYSC programme because he was involved in examination malpractice. The House had thought it unjustifiable that the student would be punished after the institution made him believe he had been pardoned. The House then sent a resolution urging the institution to allow the student graduate and partake in the NYSC programme. Last week, Toviho wrote again to the House to complain that the institution was yet to clear him despite the resolution of the House. However, two of the lawmakers supported the institution’s action, saying cases of examination malpractices should be treated as such. But one of the lawmakers, Adebimpe Akinsola, told the House that the issue was no longer whether the student committed the offence, but on why the resolution of the House was disobeyed. Akinsola’s argument was unanimously supported by her other colleagues. Obafunwa told the lawmakers at the sitting that Toviho was just one of the cases. When asked why he disobeyed the resolution of the House which was sent to him, Obafunwa said freeing Ezekiel would affect the institution’s policy since he was not the only one who was indicted. “The matter was handled by the Exam Malpractice Committee of the Faculty of Management Sciences as well as others in the school and the University Governing Council is yet to meet since October, 2014, when we got the resolution. “The next meeting of the council will hold on January 20th,” he also told the lawmakers. Ikuforiji, while emphasising the importance of the resolution, said the resolution should be obeyed. He also urged the Vice Chancellor to ensure that the issue is discussed at the meeting of the Governing Council and that Toviho’s case is handled satisfactorily. http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/01/07/i-inherited-1200-cases-of-exam-malpractices-lasu-vc/

Politics / 2015: Jonathan Vows To Crack Down On Troublemakers by maxism2: 1:41am On Jan 01, 2015 |
President Goodluck Jonathan has vowed to deal decisively with anyone who may decide to foment trouble before, during and after the 2015 general elections. He said he would wield the big stick against troublemakers because of the post-2011 elections violence that erupted in some parts of the country. Jonathan read the Riot Act in his New Year message broadcast on radio and television networks early on Thursday morning. He said his administration would not tolerate a repeat of the 2011 orgy of violence. “After the 2011 general elections, some unpatriotic elements embarked on an orgy of violence, resulting in the destruction of lives and property. That will not be allowed to happen this time around. This government will act decisively against anyone who disrupts the public peace, before, during or after the 2015 general elections,” the President declared. Jonathan observed that the general elections were important for the country, saying their successful conclusion would further strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions and place it more firmly in the comity of truly democratic nations. He said given the challenges that had characterised some previous electoral contests in the country, the eyes of the world would be on the conduct and outcome of what he described as the nation’s fifth post-military rule general elections. He reassured Nigerians and the international community of his administration’s commitment to free, fair and credible elections. The President added, “My commitment to free elections and one man, one vote remains unwavering. Our administration has worked hard in previous elections to prepare all key stakeholders including the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies and the electorate optimally, to ensure a progressively improved electoral process in the country under my watch. We will continue to do so for the coming elections. “We will continue to provide adequate funding to INEC and maintain the commission’s independence and isolate it from any form of interference or meddling in its day-to-day affairs. This shall continue to guarantee its impartiality and ability to conduct more credible and acceptable elections. “The national security agencies will also be given all necessary support to enhance their ability to ensure that the elections are peaceful and violence-free.” Jonathan reiterated his position that no political ambition was worth the blood of any Nigerian. He urged politicians, as they carry out their campaigns, not to promote sectionalism, disunity or hate. Jonathan further advised them to conduct their campaigns with decorum and civility towards opponents. “Let us not promote sectionalism, disunity, intolerance, hate, falsehood or the malicious abuse of political opponents. Whatever we feel or seek, we must have a nation and a people before we can dream of political ambitions. Let us put the nation and the people first. “Let us all conduct our electoral campaigns with the highest possible decorum and civility towards political opponents. Let us give INEC the fullest possible support and cooperation it requires to conduct credible and violence-free elections in 2015,” the President added. He said all Nigerians of voting age were free to vote during the elections based on their convictions. Jonathan also assured Nigerians that political campaigns and the general elections would not distract his administration from its ongoing efforts to improve their living conditions. He promised that his involvement in the campaigns and election as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party notwithstanding, he would remain focused on providing good governance and delivering better public services to Nigerians. He said, “Being very conscious of the inherent perils of our over-reliance on income from crude oil exports for national development, we have focused on accelerating the diversification of our economy. “The non-oil sector, which has grown by an average of eight per cent in the last few years, is now a major driver of growth in our economy. “The 2015 national budget, which is now before the National Assembly, is targeted at deepening our efforts at becoming a non-oil economy. “The budget also includes measures to ensure that the downturn in the price of oil does not affect our development plans and our national economy too adversely. We are adjusting our financial processes to safeguard our economy. We are also taking steps to ensure that the poor and the low and medium income earners do not bear the brunt. “In 2015, this administration will continue to lay the foundation for a vibrant economy that attracts significant Foreign Direct Investment and promotes policies that ensure economic stability. “We will ensure stability in the value of the Naira by striving to take away speculative behaviours that cause market exchange pressures. “We will continue to build and maintain a healthy external reserves position and strengthen fiscal buffers. We will ensure the Naira remains strong, and gives foreign investors the clarity and certainty that they need, to guide future investment decisions. “We will continue to improve our payment systems and strengthen risk-based supervision mechanism for Nigerian banks to ensure overall health and stability of the banking system.” Wishing Nigerians a happy and prosperous 2015, the President urged them to enter the new year with renewed hope, patriotism and zeal to serve their fatherland. He reiterated his position that all the challenges facing the nation are surmountable. “As I have always maintained, none of the challenges before us is insurmountable. We must come together as a people and work with single-minded unity of purpose to overcome them. “As we go into this New Year, I salute the indomitable and resilient spirit of our people in Nigeria and wherever they are in the world. Our spirit of enterprise and the doggedness to succeed amongst all odds has been our strength.” The President praised the gallant officers, men and women of the Armed Forces and other security agencies who have been in the forefront of the war against terrorism and violent extremism in Nigeria. http://www.punchng.com/news/2015-jonathan-vows-to-crack-down-on-troublemakers/ 16 Likes 6 Shares

Politics / YULETIDE: Oil Communities Reject Agip’s Goat,10 Bags Of Rice by maxism2: 1:36pm On Dec 29, 2014 |
There was mild drama in Nembe communities of Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa over the offer of a goat and 10 bags of rice to the elders and people of the area by the management of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NOAC). The offer, meant as Christmas gift to the host communities of Nembe Kingdom, was, however, turned down by the people through the Oil and Gas committee headed by Chief Nengi James Orioworio. LEADERSHIP gathered that the people of the oil rich Nembe Kingdom were angry because the gift items of a goat and 10 bags of rice was meant to be shared by the people of the communities and fishing settlements headed by a one-time minster of Power and the Amanayabo of Nembe Kingdom, King Edmund Daukoru. Confirming the development in a statement issued yesterday and made available to newsmen, the Chairman of the Nembe Oil and Gas committee, Chief Nengi James Orioworio, described the gift as “a corporate embarrassment to the traditional institution and the good people of Nembe Kingdom which the people will never take kindly”. Orioworio recalled a meeting with the General Manager District of the company when he visited King Edmund Dakoru, the Amanyanabo of Nembe Kingdom alongside his management team where issues of corporate social responsibilities were addressed. He noted that for Agip to give 10 bags of rice and one goat to a community of about 500,000 people is a clear demonstration of the crass insensitivity of the multinational company to the community which is a major hub of Agip’s operations. James stressed that the people of Nembe are a contented people who will never be cowed by any Greek gift that will cause disaffection among the people of the area. According to him, Nembe Kingdom is in dire need of development and employment for the teeming unemployed youths alongside environmental protection. He warned that if this issue is not properly handled, it could affect the harmonious relationship and peaceful coexistence between the company and the community. http://leadership.ng/news/398338/yuletide-oil-communities-reject-agips-goat10-bags-rice 5 Likes |
Politics / Revealed: Buhari’s Aides Who Are Born-again Christians by maxism2: 12:39pm On Dec 29, 2014 |
List Includes His Cook, Drivers & P.A Up until very recently, many Nigerians had been made to believe that Gen. Muhammadu Buhari is an Islamic fundamentalist. In a bid to tar his image, a lot of articles had appeared in the newspapers painting him as a rabid Moslem who wants to propagate Sharia across Nigeria. Some of those who have taken that view had over the last few months described him as ethno-religious fundamentalist. Some others have called him an extremist. They often cite as example his 27th August 2001 statement, “I will continue to show openly and inside me the total commitment to the Sharia Movement that is sweeping all over Nigeria. God willing we would not stop the agitation for the total implementation of Sharia in the country”. But City People investigations reveal that Buhari may not be the Islamic fundamentalist they say he is. This is because all those who have worked closely with him have revealed that contrary to that popular view, they have never seen any evidence of fundamentalism in his behaviour First is a former Minister of Petroleum, Professor Tam David-West, who last week said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Mohammadu Buhari, “is not a fundamentalist. Delivering a public lecture on the topic: “Corruption and Insecurity: Model for Nigeria”, at the 60th anniversary of the Kuti Hall, University of Ibadan, he said Buhari is not an Islamic fundamentalist, David-West commented: “I am an Anglican fundamentalist. I am a Christian fundamentalist and I am proud to be that. A fundamentalist is different from an extremist. A fundamentalist believes exactly in his religion. I believe the Bible is sacred. If you’re an Islamic fundamentalist, it means that Quran is sacred. It is different from being an extremist. “I have said this and nobody challenged me; three of Buhari’s cooks are Christians. I have published it many times. His second security officer is a Christian, his second driver is a Christian. His cook in the office is a Christian. You can preach better sermon with your life than with your lips. We should show example by how we live.” Pastor Tunde Bakare, the General Overseer of Latter Rain Assembly who was running mate of Buhari during the 2011 presidential elections agrees with David West on this issue. “Yes, he is a devout Muslim. But he is far from being a religious fundamentalist. In my dealings with him, he never calls me on Saturdays because he understands, I will be preparing for church the following day. Issues of religion never cropped up between us and till tomorrow he still calls me. |

Politics / Enugu APC Donated Largest Amount To Buhari -spokesman by maxism2: 8:56pm On Dec 27, 2014 |
The South East zonal spokesman of the All Progressives Congress, Osita Okechukwu, has commended members of the party in Enugu State “for being the highest donors to General Muhammadu Buhari’s Support Fund.” Okechukwu, in a statement made available to journalists, explained that the fund, to which the “masses can donate only N100, has so far garnered N54m.” Okechukwu told members of the APC in Enugu State that Buhari would “remain grateful for their contribution,” which, according to him, shows clearly that “the celestial bond between him (Buhari) and the masses and the middle class is Pan-Nigerian and that Nigerians are earnestly yearning for regime change.” “I commend my people for being a critical chain in the Buhari-Bandwagon-Vehicle for Salvation, so that tomorrow nobody can marginalize Ndigbo,” Okechukwu added. He noted that Buhari “has 60 percent chance of winning the 14th February, 2015 presidential election,” because, according to him, “President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is the de facto campaign manager of General Muhammadu Buhari.” According to Okechukwu, Buhari’s election became imperative because Jonathan failed to guarantee the welfare and security of Nigerian citizens. “President Jonathan lacks neither the political will to stem corruption nor to fight Boko Haram, that is the GMB (General Muhammadu Buhari) appeal, even from unlikely quarters like South South and South East. “It is my candid view that our dear president wasted golden opportunity by failing woefully to fulfill the promises he made four years ago. “For instance on 13th May, 2010, he awarded a $23bn contract for the construction of three greenfield refineries; one to be located at Bayelsa, one for Lagos and one for Kogi – five years down the line the money had grown wings and the refineries dead on arrival,” Okechukwu said in the statement. He noted that the failure to build the proposed refineries had resulted in the squandering of over N2trillion annually on importation of refined petroleum products, the devaluation of the naira, “gross unemployment,” collapse of the textile and ancillary industries, as well as a huge foreign debt profile. The APC spokesman also accused the Jonathan administration of “posting of phantom economic growth in the midst of widespread poverty.” Continuing, Okechukwu said, “My brothers and sisters, you must agree with me that if Mr. President, a young man with phd, had performed, automatically Nigerians from all shades of opinion will not today be clamouring to vote for an old GMB for president, that’s why President Jonathan is his (Buhari’s) campaign chief.” http://www.punchng.com/news/enugu-apc-donated-largest-amount-to-buhari-spokesman/ 48 Likes 4 Shares |
Politics / Pres. Jonathan Wants You To Remember These 7 Things… As You Celebrate Christmas by maxism2: 3:41pm On Dec 25, 2014 |
President Goodluck Jonathan in his message to the nation, has prayed that this year’s celebration of the birth of Christ will rekindle, strengthen and reaffirm our faith in the nation’s ability to overcome all challenges. He further wants you to note the following: 1. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ who the Prophet Isaiah heralded as the Prince of Peace and Wonderful Counselor, I believe it is very appropriate that we all, Christians and non-Christians alike, reflect more deeply on the virtues and ideals which the Messiah espoused during his earthly mission. 2. As we celebrate his birth, I urge all Nigerians to offer special prayers for a greater manifestation of divine peace in our country and the vanquishing of all demons of hatred, divisiveness and disunity in our midst. 3. As we celebrate Christmas, let us also remember and offer special prayers for all of our countrymen, women and children who have suffered and continue to suffer untold hardship, deprivation and death at the hands of terrorists and insurgents. 4. Let us also continue to pray for our gallant soldiers and security agents who remain at the forefront of the national effort to overcome terrorism and violent extremism, even as the rest of the nation celebrates Christmas and the coming New Year. 5. In this season of goodwill, I urge all patriotic Nigerians to rededicate themselves to doing all within their powers to support the brave men and women of our armed forces in the ongoing war against terrorism, and also support the Federal Government’s efforts to provide more succour to the hapless victims of terrorist atrocities. 6. The Victims’ Support Fund which we have established to raise additional funds to assist our compatriots who have been adversely affected by continuing insecurity in parts of our country remains active. I call on all individuals and corporate organisations who have not yet done so, to donate more generously to the Fund which is being efficaciously deployed to ease the sufferings of victims of terrorist violence in the country. 7. Dear Compatriots, we are also celebrating this Christmas against the background of preparations for next year’s general elections. I seize this opportunity to reassure the nation that my administration will give the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) all necessary support to ensure that it delivers very free, fair, credible and acceptable elections in 2015. I urge our political class to be law- abiding and place the greater interests of our nation above all personal or sectional interests in the countdown to the elections. http://ynaija.com/pres-jonathan-wants-you-to-remember-these-7-things-as-you-celebrate-christmas-today/ 13 Likes |

Politics / How President Goodluck Jonathan Unwinds by maxism2: 7:57am On Dec 24, 2014 |
By DANIJI EMMANUEL As president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has a loaded daily schedule. For the 57-year-old First Man, when he gets the free moments, most importantly, he spends time with his wife, mother, and children in the Villa. When he has few hours outside spending time with his family, he’s taken interest in a mix of squash, golf, and books. Golf is one hobby he took to a few years ago as against squash which he started playing over a decade. One of his squash-playing mates, HRH King A.J. Turner , a close adviser who has known Jonathan since their university days, told CNN sometime back, “Jonathan is a loyal friend who has competitive instincts — at least on the squash courts, a sport he plays ‘religiously’. He has beaten me a few times.” http://citypeoplegroup.org/i/how-president-goodluck-jonathan-unwinds/ 4 Likes 2 Shares |
