booqee:Wow!!! You just brought this thread back to my mind. My apologies to all those that dropped their details annd got no response. Here is what we will do. Over the next few weeks, I will do my utmost to attend to requests from January till date. |
I appreciate the feedback and commendation. My greatest satisfaction will however be to see you practise importation as a business and income generating activity. To all those who are asking for another session, I would have to disappoint you at this time as my hands are pretty full. Devoting 3-4hrs daily for almost 2 weeks is something I have to plan for, and plan I will. So till then... its au revoir. |
Jumia has to tweak its business model if it needs to keep pace with the competition. They particularly need to democratise their merchant system: from being the sole merchant to allowing the public to trade therein. Konga operates this model (just like the Alibaba group) hence they will always be ahead. |
mindtricks:I responded to your PM |
mindtricks:When I set out to do this, I knew for a fact that I would run into people like this, hence part of the criteria was a review of each individual's previous posts in order to get a feel of the person's attitude. At the end, some people were dropped for what they have previously posted on NL. If he had only couched his grievance in different words, then.... Anyway, classes started in earnest yesterday. |

wisehouse: gud pm sir, yes I have done so, check ur mailHave replied you. |
texaco1: you have a point .then how will u go about it,the banks don't know ,people are tired of that question so they won't answer it and the sites u want to shop on won't convert it. The best thing to do is to have a base exchange rate which will and can accomodate any fluctuations .that is what business men do all over the world. Instead of asking for exchange rates on a daily basis just fix one . The naira has been between 165 to 167 for sometime . Why don't u just fix ur rate at 170 or 171 to a dollar.that is what I always do,my exchange rate has always been 170 to a dollar so that my calculations can absorb any fluctuations. Make all ur calculations on a base exchange rate ,even the shipment we did last week was based on a base figure and we got it. This is business and in business you must make accomodations for changes and be prepared for themThis is the correct business savvy approach to mitigating exchange rate risk. The poor management of this risk was one of the factors that led to the collapse of Banks in Nigeria in 208-209. In addition, if you are giving a customer a quote that is valid for say 30days, then you would need to increase the margin to between 175-180naira to a dollar.' |
wisehouse: Well I thought it was not true after I ask my reliable production manager and he told me that the machine has not been sold because my boss did not tell him anything of such. Surprisingly, the whole myth turns out to b true! Yes, my boss actually sold d machine but did not tell anyone, neither me nor our PM, my phone has been off since mornin, if not I would have been told b4 now, I planned to go for night shift dis week, but now am stucked. Yes God will make a help to come I know. I don't even know how I fill right now, dis is my first time of 'loosing my job' and I know it will be my last.Pm me if you still need help with your importation |
wisehouse: have not gone to work yet (night duty)Lets Know the outcome. Then we will take it on from there. |
wisehouse: yap bro, please I can rise 20k.Where is your location? |
wisehouse: yap I do importation biz. But no capital,If you can raise N20k, I can show you what to import. |
2geez: Yea i did that but still no reply,my worry is i have tried like four other stores and same thing,i noticed most pips are talking about chatting with their sellers using trade manager on mobile could this be the reason cause am accessing aliexpress directly from my chrome browser on a laptopAre you buying from Aliexpress or Alibaba? Chatting with suppliers is even easier using your laptop (that is if you are buying from Alibaba. |
eph12: I am even tired of explaining this. Most sellers on Alibaba will charge you for shipping to Nigeria, except they have already factored that into the price. They even what to charge you for sending to your agent in China, such as Nonnykings. It makes no economic sense to me to allow the supplier charge me for shipping (and make a profit from that too) when I have more cost effective Nigerian alternatives. |
NnamdiN: depends on what you're buying. I wanted to customize leather wristwatches for some politicians, needed 8 samples with different images inside, watch was cheap for the quantity that I wanted(4$) but sample charge for the 8 was 245$. It's a gamble I can't afford to take.Very true. Your best bet is to engage other sellers through the chat system so that you can quickly get quotes |
eph12: Any item that has free shipping definitely has the shipping cost added to the cost of the item. That's what a lot of buyers do not realise |
NnamdiN: sample charges are too expensiveSample prices sometimes cost qlmost the same as 50pcs of the item. I usually opt to buy 50pcs after enough research of the item |
Ymodulus: Have been so busy.A gold seller will hardly dupe you, so I stick to dealings with them as a matter of principle.. Other things to watch out for are whether the supplier is a verified supplier and whether onsite operations and legal status have been confirmed by Alibaba |
mrhello: It all depends. This is correct. |
mrhello: Someone asked HOW did u pay in2 a Chinese acct. frm Nigeria, u replied YES. ''Bros, u for take am easy now"Yes, Sales Representatives of major Chinese manufacturers use Gmail accounts. I have dealt severally with them, even paid via Paypal to the email and got my items sent sharply. The more important thing is the due diligence on the importer. |

myads890: Nice one bro. I'm glad you appreciate your father for being there for you. You're really lucky. My dad left me when I was just 3 months old and I don't even know what he looks like. I pray I never become like him and I'm looking forward to the day my own kid will write a letter like this to me.Thank you for sharing. My prayer for you is that you get to meet your dad soon. You guys may not be able to turn back the hands of time, better late than never. |
amdman: Congratulations to your Dad... he must be very special to have raised such a smart kidThank you for your kind words. I figured I did not have to wait until his funeral to let him know that I appreciate who and what he is. |
Dear Dad, It’s a joyous day today as we celebrate you, giving thanks unto God for His many mercies and grace, and for upholding you with His right hand. As I look back to the worthy legacies that you have set, I realize that every time you gave to the needy, every St. Vincent De Paul activity you engaged me in, everytime you placed others before yourself, you laid for me a foundation of selflessness. Everyday the family prayed together in the morning, everyday we read from the daily devotional, you were setting the stage for what would later be my spiritual renaissance. Need I mention your contribution to what I am today? I may not remember you checking my homework or class scores everyday, I do not remember you guiding my hand to learn to write my first alphabets, but I do remember the lashing I received that day I presented my worst result ever; my SS 1 2nd term result wherein I got 4 Ds. You were having dinner that day I stood before you, trembling while handing over the result, fearing what was to come. You did not cast your mind to the A's I got in the other subjects. You did not congratulate me for at least passing all 12 subjects. It only bothered you that I had 4 Ds. You immediately left your meal, and ordered me inside your room; and my behind received many lashes from that famous belt. You returned to your meal, whIle I went away in tears. Yet that event seared into my heart therefrom that it was not enough to succeed sometimes, to succeed halfway, or to succeed even most of the time, but that I must succeed all the time, all the way. Thus, an academic brilliance was and is evident in all your children, such that in school, our surname soon became the symbol of intelligence. What more can I say of the many values you instilled in us, of love for God and country, of respect for womanhood, of diligence and honest labour, of contentment, sacrifice and integrity. You did not teach us these things via lectures, rather you lived them. And that is why am proud to call you FATHER, and I promise you that I will not do less with my children. My greatest desire is that the Lord will yet lengthen your days, and make your strength as that of Caleb, who at 85 testified that he was as strong as when God first called him. And I pray that every mention of your children will bring joy to your heart. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! |
