I served in Osogbo, though in a bank , and I can say that legal practice there is still way behind. Doubt if there was any SAN in the town in my day. I can tell you that there is no chamber there that will pay her up to 15k.Anyhow, she can try a chamber somewhere around 6, Fagbewesa Str., (cant remember the name), but she should not go near a certain chamber on Ilesa Road, opp St Charles Grammar Sch. |

Some are happy Some are sad Others are indecisive Why? Because they robbed us Turai, Ruma, Aoandokaa and their like They robbed you of your right to die celebrated by us all And us of our right to honestly mourn our President You were good You were bad But you were my President And I loved you. You were here And now you are gone That I would ever see again I wonder As you lie rested in the earth’s belly May we have rest from the demons that have plagued us And receive the gift that we so yearn for A new President, a new day, a new nation Goodbye Goodbye my President, |
Why Osogbo for a double 2.1? |
The average person living in Lagos earns half of that and still has to pay for food, accomodation and all that, and still manages to send money to folks back home. Since you dont have to pay for food, accomodation, transport etc, I would say you can live in Lagos and save at least half of that pay. But then, it depends on how frugal you are as a person. Hope you have a good time here. |
I have this friend who is a xtian, banker, young, handsome and engaged. This guy works in the northern part of the country. His present dilemna is that girls cant just stop pestering him. They all know he is serious with someone else cos he has his fiancee's pic plastered on his phone and tells them the truth when they ask. They sometimes do everything they can to sleep over in his house, like cook for him and bring the food very late, etc. Some of them have promoted themselves to Asst Fiancee or even Fiancee sef. How do you tell a girl CONVINCINGLY, I no dey do? or leave me alone? |
@mahogany28 I wonder where in Professional Ethics you classify this as misconduct. The poster is not soliciting for business, but merely creating a platform for interaction amongst young lawyers, and I think thats admirable. If this forum were to succeed, it would be a very useful tool for networking, brainstorming, idea-sharing and resolution of legal issues. Imagine being faced with a thorny legal issue, and nobody in your 5-lawyer firm can provide a ready answer or authority, and you post same issue here for thousands of lawyers to brainstorm, you will find that somehow, maybe from one remote location, an answer will be provided. So Poster, u started this, keep it alive and you just may help someone in dire need. |

First, let me say that I am proudly INTERCONTINENTAL. That rare breed of professionals committed to making our customers happy. I think that those that are peddling rumours about Banks (Intercontinental) especially, don't really know the gravity of what they are doing. They think that killing one bank will mean more business for the others. This is never so, as the crash of a Bank such as Intercontinental will cause a panic that will have adverse effects on the industry and the economy as a whole. Therefore, people should make constructive statements based on available facts, and not declarations like everybody should go and withdraw their money from the Bank. Firstly, I must say that these rumours began due to the bad belle of competitors who are unable to match the strength of Intercontinental Bank. They have resorted to the Nigerian practice of PHD (Pull Him Down). This is otherwise called demarketing. However, the facts are there for everyone to see and appreciate. Intercontinental Bank was established in 1989 as a Merchant Bank. It became a commercial bank in 1999, unarguably making it the youngest commercial bank in the country. It is therefore surprising to many that the Bank has risen up to be one of the leading banks in the country today by any standard. In 2007, according to Financial Times London, it was the 355th Bank in the world, and the only Nigerian Bank in the first 500. In 2008, It became the second most rated Bank in Nigeria, after First Bank, with Zenith, UBA, Oceanic trailing far behind. It also won the Bank of the Year award for 2008 (award by Financial Times, London), African Bank of the Year 2008 (awarded by the World Bank and IMF). These are facts that are incontestable and the awards are the most treasured in the banking industry. Again, Standard & Poor, and Fitch International are the two foremost rating companies in the world. They rate countries and companies, and based on these ratings, international investors know where to channel their money. The rating of Intercontinental Bank by these two rating companies are the highest in the Nigerian Banking industry, rating the bank as a low risk financial institution. Little wonder therefore that foreign investors are continually queuing to grant the bank confirming lines. The success of the Bank is attributable to its core values: Trust in God, Integrity, Excellence, Helpfulness, Resilience. It is only God that has lifted up the Bank, and no man can pull it down. Intercontinental Bank has consistently increased its market share in both the retail and corporate sector. The aggressiveness of the bank has surely not won it many friends as it has taken over grounds hitherto covered by other banks. You will agree with me that our use of savings account in Nigeria has gone beyond that of a means of saving money. Somebody deposits money in an account in Lagos and withdraws it in Benin the same day, or money is paid into an account in Kano and account holder is in Lagos to withdraw it immediately. The Bank charges nothing for this service and gains nothing from the transaction, whereas no one ever went into business with charity on his mind. Recently, the Bank decided to increase its minimum deposits on savings account to N10,000. Though the move has been suspended, it was contemplated to streamline the customer base of the Bank for better effectiveness. It was in my opinion, a well-thought out strategy, but executed at the wrong time. Knowing this, the Bank has reversed itself. Therefore, to all those that are happy customers of the bank, continue in your choice of banking with one of the most focused banks in world. To all those that wish the bank ill, you will not achieve your designs. The God of Intercontinental Bank will continue to uphold it. |
You need to consider several factors become making a decision. First, what are your life goals? Do you plan to work for yourself or seek employment? If you plan to set up you own biz, you can as well settle for the 2.2 and start that biz. But if you want to work you need to think again, depending on the sector where you want. 25yrs by 2010 is not a bad age to be a 2.1 graduate for most comanies. There are multitudes of young 2.2 holders without jobs, and though 2.1 does not give you an automatic job, its gives you much leverage, at least it will get you past the door. Secondly, how certain is the upgrade? If there is any uncertainty or it seems policies may change in the new future, you may need to stick with what you have and hope for the best, but be sure to upgrade yourself anyhow, because today, a Bsc. is not enough. There are lots of other stuff to consider, but I got to go. All the best. |
For someone that has seen the inside of Intercontinental, I would choose it over most Nigerian banks including Zenith. ET take home is 162k monthly aside other allowances like lunch, medical, etc. However, its for people who are high flyers and can excel under pressure. No employer will pay you to play, which is what many people want. An Intercontinental person takes his job seriously and works smart to excel, But if you want to a place where you can eat Amala and go home, pls stay away. Am Intercontinental any day, so long as am in banking. |
i have attended only two job interviews for banks and i was offered employment at both, and they didn't bother with what i did not tell them. understand that at an interview, you are selling yourself to the interviewers, and as such you shoud highlight your strongest points. that new gce result has no business in your documents submitted, moreso when you read english. simply put it in your own foder, then you can explain later if the issue ever comes up. you are not suppressing info. you are doing what advertizers do every second. promote the good, leave the defects out. never give up on yourself. believe the best. if you really want to be employed, there are so many opportunities out there. keep your ears to the ground for info. then those newspaper adverts work too, so don't miss the important ones. when you attend your next interview, pray, do your best, be confident and hope for the best. |
you may just have to sit with her and discuss your concerns in an understanding manner. sometimes these ladies think that a guy who is just doing paparazzi to get their attention is really better than who they have. get to know what her expectations are and how your relationship can be better. if you see wedding bells, then you need to do this fast. Then guys, buckle up, some of una no dey try at all. be more sensitive to her concerns, pay more attention. ladies need men who will really treat them special and make them feel like the sun without a rival, and most times, they get a lot less. |
how do you tell a girl its over without hurting her |
I met this muti-talented girl on the net, and it seemed as if I coud think of nothing else. I had to travel a great distance just to meet her thinking it could help me clear my mind, but i ended up being more confused than i was before I left. Five years down the line, it has been an interesting time. You can actually marry someone you met online, but at some point you have to meet physically to be sure that the person is for real, and that the electricity between the two of you is not just an attraction to danger. Pictures and calls are not enough. Na naija we dey and anything is possible if you believe. |
