God 'breathe into his nostrils the breathe of life' is an expression that means God gave Adam his spirit or life-force for Adam to have life and become living. It does not suggest that God himself is sustained by breathe and that without breathe God would die. God is immortal, he cannot die.

The life I have was created by God through his spirit....which is the life force or life generator.
The spirit is what gives life to me and animals.
If God removes his spirit or breath, my life expires and God's spirit returns back to him. And that is what is understood to be death. Not everything in the universe is living.
