Thank you Legacy for this detailed explanation. But I’ve been cracking my head to understand what payment I make for Abuja vfs. I did my biometrics in Abuja. Do I still send my passport through dhl or I take it to Abuja vfs myself? Are payments to be made to vfs and dhl separately?

Thank you

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just received my PPR. I feel like crying, I feel like jumping, I feel like screamingggggggg.

First my timeline so the family will not roast me alive.

Portal type: Old portal
Application series: S30465####
Upfront medical - 9 November, 2021
Application submitted - Thursday, 18 November 2021
Biometric request - Friday, 19 November 2021
Biometric done and updated - Monday, 22 November 2021
Medical Passed - Thursday, 23 December 2021
Eligibility started - Thursday, 10 February 2022
First and only ghost update - Wednesday, 16 March 2022
PPR - Thursday, 17 March 2022

17 weeks on the dot.

In January I sent a lot of emails and like three webforms. All I got was generic responses. I needed a decision because the last day to pay my 1st term fees or withdraw and be eligible for full refund (excluding deposit of $1000) was on the 28th. My program doesn't do deferral but they said they could assure us of a readmission for fall term, we would only have to pay the application fee of $100 but we won't have to pay a deposit of $1000 again because it would be moved to fall. Like 4 of my course mates (1 Nigerian and 3 Indians) too this offer and withdraw and I was tempted to take this offer too; but my sister (my sponsor) said no, I should have faith (funny thing she is not a believer of faith, and she is very logical and basis her decisions on concrete facts and not hope). I paid my fees on the last day (I sent the fee receipt payment through a webform) and continued with the program online. Everyone was online including domestic students because of the Omicron variant. But they resumed in-person/hybrid 2 weeks ago. And believe me, I thought online classes was bad, but hybrid is way worse. I didn't send any emails or webforms after January and I even applied for a remote job for a US company to keep me distracted (I got the job too, and resumed this week). I later decided to order for my gcms notes on the 4th of March, though I don't think it caused my decision to arrive 2 weeks after. I got my PPR without them even asking me for an updated LOA to ensure I was still enrolled.

My background
Bsc in Architecture from University of Nigeria (UNN)
Program in Canada: Masters in Digital Media from Ryerson University (I explained I was focusing on Virtual and Augmented Reality in my sop, I will post my sop draft here for anyone who needs inspiration. Please inspiration, do not copy exactly)
3+ year work experience in architecture and construction (was never a full time worker, only during nysc, was always an independent contracted designer, submitted my last contract).

I will post my documents shortly, my new boss keeps sending tasks to do.

Having lost my husband a while back and with the current state of the country as we all know, I made the decision to migrate to Canada with my two children through the Canadian study route. After conducting various researches and upon some consultations, I began to feel like this was an impossible feat as I came across various takes from individuals claiming how nearly impossible getting an approval would be for me. This was exacerbated by the fact that the program I was applying for was totally different from my educational background (You see, I had applied for a Global Hospitality Management program with a previous degree in Accounting). According to various people, this further slimmed my chances of having my visa approved
I’m really happy for you. I can’t imagine what you’ve been through. I pray with this opportunity, you’ll find more joy and happiness as you and your family begins this new phase/journey of your lives. Never give up, cause all I see are big wins for you.

I noticed they share application number (not the full thing just the first 6 digits) in one of the Indian groups to help keep track of processing sequence and I was wondering if we could do the same here.

Following theirs might not give much insights since it’s a different country/office.

What do you guys think?
I noticed that too. And was literally trying to figure out the pattern with the application numbers today. It won’t hurt for us to track ours. Who knows we could figure out a pattern.

It means you can't pay any fee more than $50(application fee, visa fee or charge backs) with your naija debit card as far as international transaction is concerned.

The Nigerian economy is bleeped! CBN is not releasing dollars to any soul hence why the reduction and why Form As are not being approved.

I just paid $3000cad tuition fees on Tuesday for someone who has been waiting for form A approval since early February
So first they ban digital currency. Then they create unfavourable financial policies and conditions that make digital currency more attractive. Smart move!!

Hi Maypearl,

Nothing to worry about. It is part of their background checks.

I don't think anyone can say if it is positive/negative, but I know that they randomly check applicants' social media accounts. Most times, anonymously, you won't even see that a government official has viewed your LinkedIn profile. That's why applicants should do all necessary social media laundry before submitting their applications. Once an application is submitted, you fall under their radar.
It shows there is an active review on your file, and I wish you that favourable decision and PPR soonest.

It will end in praise!
Thanks Olasubomy.

I manifest it’s positive and I will see my PPR soon.

It will surely end in praise.

Money must be in your account even if its your twin thats sponsoring you. The VO's eyes, u can not be in canada and expect money to pay your bills and others to be in another persons account in Nigeria. One of the many reasons apps are denied based on finance.
Hi Anon123,

Your choice of the word “must” is only piling on more doubts and fears in a time when an applicant is really struggling with the wait of ppr. I know this is not your intention. But I think you need to realise that what you are saying is more of a recommendation than a must. I’ve been following this platform and I have seen 5 or even more ppl that didn’t submit their personal statements or submitted personal statements with as little as 2k (yes 2000 Naira! I read this on this platform). The key is the details of your sponsor. How close they are to you, if they are retired or still working, their amount and source of income. If your sponsorship game is a bit weak, then that’s when I recommend you support with a good personal bank statement. Biko some of us here are over 27, high blood pressure abi is it hypertension (I don’t know the difference) is real oh. Don’t be scaring us with “must”. I come in peace.

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by Maypearl: 9:04am On Feb 05, 2022
Teemenzo:
I guessed as much

Timeline means the details of your application from the beginning of submitting your application to rhe date you got your ppr.

Date of app submission
Date of biometrics
Date of medical request or if you did the medical test before it was requested by IRCC
Did IRCC asked for extra documents, if yes, when?
Date you received your correspondence letter called Biometrics Validity Letter
Date of Original Passport Request.

Then the documents you submitted to ne losted separately.
This is not even hard to guess. A simple tap on his name will take anyone to his profile and they’ll see he is new. Please we should all be mindful about how we tell ppl to drop their timelines. Everyone on the platform may not know or understand the tradition and may need more explanation. You may feel you’re not sounding or being harsh but you are.

I’m not referring to you Teemenzo. I’m only responding under your quote cause you’re the only one that could make reference to him being new

Actually you can. Depending on the school. I got a student number right after applying. Got my admission 1month after. And that is still my student number. In fact application confirmation email called it STUDENT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER.

But having this, by no means is a sign of getting admitted.

Thats all? I see people adding land documents etc
Please what is MBS and what if sponsor is not in Nigeria?

So sorry for the many questions, I am new.
MBS means my bank statement. It’s like a more secure digital form of Nigerian bank statements. Instead of submitting scanned pages of bank statements you’ll just upload a slip with a ticket number and with that ticket number the Visa officer would be able to access your bank statement for the period of time you specified.

If your sponsor is using a non-Nigerian bank statement then it’s just the regular bank statement pages you’ll scan and submit.

Land documents are usually used for proof of home ties.

But ppl may just add it to their sponsors assets to show more financial backup. I don’t think it’s necessary
