is it a futile effort applying for visa when one is not occupied with a job ?
This I can’t answer.

But there was a guy that shared his testimony here sometime in December. He got his PPR, he had no job or employment history and just 40k in his account. Though he was not self-sponsored.

Please house, what are the typical documents needed from a sponsor.

I have read alot from other members but some are just many, so I truly need the mandatory ones.

Thanks in advance.
Bank statements (MBS if sponsor is from Nigeria)
Bank reference (not sure if this is mandatory, but I think it helps)
Letter from sponsor stating willingness to support you financially
Employment letter or business Doc to show source of fund

I want to basically find out if it is possible to use a foreign bank statement as a sponsor as my sponsor resides abroad but not in canada
I believe it is. My sponsor resides in UK and I used her bank statements and she also got her bank references for me too.

Hi, We may have similar timelines. My submission was on November 18. No medical request yet. What's your current status?
Also submitted November 18, but my medical was updated to pass on December 23.

I did an upfront medical exam on the 9th of Nov. Got a text msg from IOM saying they’ve sent it to IRCC on the 12th of November (before I applied).

But may I add that I sent one email each to the IRCC email addresses on the 21st of December; notifying them that all documents I submitted were NSE required (I know it’s not yet confirmed if the NSE route is still going on, but I needed a reason for emailing given that my application hasn’t passed the regular application processing time). And two days after, my medical was updated. Not saying the update was connected to my emails. It could just be a coincidence.

I’m apologising before hand, cause I know my tone is going to come out mean, but I can’t hold it in anymore.

Now Makano, I tried to mind my business the first few times you complained bout this “plagiarism” thing. But dude or ma’m what’s your problemhuh? Take a chill pill. This ain’t some report or article here. These are email addresses and web links anyone can get from the net. I believe you also got them from the internet too and you didn’t state your source. This is obviously not just a “plagiarism” problem for you. It seems deeper. Like you sort unending praise or glory for your help or input. It’s nice to help people but it ain’t nice when you hold it on their heads forever.

And FYI plagiarism is when you pass of someone else’s work or ideas as your own not passing on public information.

But just to make you feel better…

HELLO PEOPLE OF NAIRALAND. FROM THIS DAY OWN LET IT BE KNOWN THAT ALL IRCC EMAIL ADDRESSES AND WEB FORM LINKS POSTED ON THIS PLATFORM IS THE COURTESY OF MAKANO EVEN IF THE POSTER FAILS TO GIVE A FULL BIBLIOGRAPHY OF MAKANO

Peace

makano:
Hello olasubomy

This looks familiar..

There is nothing wrong with your post cos we are here to help each other with information..

But what is wrong is taking someone's content without acknowledging the source of your post, this is how plagiarism starts..

It's better you correct it now , so it won't put you in trouble later when you get to Canada.

Plagiarism is a big offense in developed countries..

Peace

Yeah I’ll pass your message to my people right after you tell me where you read I hate white people before you called me racist. While you search for that, also search on these names:

DR. AKWASI OSEI

DR. PATRICK KWAME-ABOAGYE

You’ll need them soon.

Don’t say I never did nothing for you Michael. wink

I don’t know why you trying to act like a peacemaker. You just called Nigeria a zoo in another nairaland forum 6mins ago. Please be who you are with your chest. Don’t angel coat yourself.

Be like Michael, say what you mean to say with your chest. At least Wizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzmike doesn’t pretend.

PetroDolla2020:
You guys have to face up to truth. Some Nigerians have called Ghanaians worse things on nairaland.

This is supposed to be a healthy thread on Nairaland, for Nigerian students planning to study in Canada. Now, given the current challenges Nigerians face in foreign travels, getting visas etc etc, it is understandable that some Nigerians see Ghana as a good option to achieve their Canada travel plans. But some of the comments are completely needless. Can you imagine someone suggesting this morning that Ghanaians will conspire to give you ( a Nigerian) covid, when you don't have one? That is surreal, completely unacceptable.

So my brothers and sisters, continue discussing your travel plans and visa issues, but please don't denigrate any country or anyone in the process. Thank you
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Maypearl: 3:10pm On Dec 15, 2021
Okay, but you hate Nigerians yet you still on our Nigerian platform. I would have said perfect case of kettle calling pot black, but then I said nothing bout white people. You really need to reevaluate your head. Like I’m serious, insults and jokes aside, have you considered seeing a shrink or something Michaelhuh undecided

FYI, only stupid sellouts call their fellow African a slave, stop making excuses for your rotten behaviour Michael.

Wizzzzmike:
Shut the fvck up... You hate white people for being racist but you still use their phone and apps to call them out.

Why add Ghana to something we're not involved. If you get sense you would know, I'm telling ur Nigerian bro to defend his own country but rather he join Kenyans to attack both Ghana and Nigeria. Only slaves does that to look good in eyes of their master. Is it that stupidity

Read before you quote.

I don’t even know how this guy has not been kicked out nairaland. I’ve gone through his posts and he even calls Nigerians slave. Just take a look at his comments on other nairaland topics

Good morning guys, would really appreciate it if my question gets answered.
Would it be too early for me to apply for Fall visa application in January next year?
Ahhhhhh, my dear it is not too early. If me I could even apply 10 years earlier I would have. You could even apply this month. But get all your documents in order first.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Maypearl: 9:22am On Dec 11, 2021
I’m really shocked at your answer for the second question. Please it is Canada she wants to travel to, not some African country that is stuck on their “borrowed” old way. Her marriage certificate is enough to show she’s married. She isn’t doing the “wrong thing” by still using her father’s name. The advice I can give her is, it’s either she changes to her husband’s name before she applies (if she wants to) or keep her maiden and she shouldn’t change it till her whole application is over and has been decided on by the visa officers (to avoid complications and delay)

Now for the quoted “borrowed old way” Last names were introduced when the white people came into Africa. If your grand parents are still alive or you have anyone really old person in your village they’ll tell you that their own grandparents or great-grandparents never had surnames. So it’s nice to borrow people’s culture, but we shouldn’t be carrying it on top of our heads like it’s the yard stick for what’s right and wrong. Still bearing your maiden name is good, bearing your husband’s name is good too.

makano:
Hello Miznate

The answer to your question of the list of documents is everywhere on this thread, check all the approved testimonies and study the documents they submitted...

To your second question, you are a married woman, meaning you do not bear your father's name again, meaning all your documents should have your husband's name on them... Getting an Affidavit of change of name and Newspaper publication are documents you can get in days if you are really serious about it..

Lastly, if you know you declared you are married in your application, then it means you will have to use your hubby's name so it won't backfire on you in the future cos I know you will be using your marriage certificate in the nearest future.. To avoid misinterpretation that could affect you in the future if not now, say the truth and do the necessary things newly married women do to change your name to your hubby's name..

CAUTION: Do not declare you are single in your application, remember your marriage certificate has your marriage date on it and also Canada keeps records, just sounding that in your ears..

You are no more of your father, you are now of your hubby, so do the needful and the right thing...

Peace

Chiziteremary:
Good morning my people,

Pls im in the process of uploading forms on the IRCC site. Pls under letter of acceptance is it only the letter of acceptance that should be uploaded there pls reply. I have so many documents. Im wondering where to upload them.

Secondly under the optional documents. There is an option called client information, which document should be uploaded there pls. Also i have two bank statements from my sponsor and three bank statements from myself. How do i upload all these documents bikonu.

I also have land documents and other things. Pls can someone be kind enough to respond. I am almost confused
Hello Chiziteremary,

For my letter of acceptance it was a pdf with the following
1. A table of content
2. My letter of acceptance
3. My offer of admission (that’s if the school sent you this too, it isn’t mandatory)
4. My undergraduate degree certificate
5. Undergraduate transcript
6. Nysc certificate
7. Ielts test result
8. Deposit confirmation receipt. (That’s part of the tuition fee you paid to reserve you position. That is if you were asked to pay)

For the client information part, that’s where you add you sop. Please note, attach all supporting documents mentioned in your sop to the same sop pdf. Mine consisted of the following:
1. Undergraduate graduate scholarship award letter (as proof of some of my academic achievements)
2. Letter of recommendation from the company of my most recent job (by most recent I mean a contract job I rounded up in September)
3. Copy of my 1+ Year contract with the above company (I requested the company to add it to their recommendation letter)
4. Reference letter from a previous employer
5. State house deployment letter (I was deployed to the state house for my Nysc so I felt it was significant experience enough to add)
6. My resume and portfolio (I am a graduate architect)
7. Findings supporting my reasons for choosing the university which includes a screenshot of the chat I had with one of the alumni of the school through LinkedIn, my offer admission into a similar program in a university in London, screenshot of the areas of study for both the London university and the Canadian university to show the slight difference in the two programs hence why I picked the Canadian school.
8. Pictures of family and I (For my home ties I added my family’a properties to my proof of means of financial support because there was no space to add it to my sop, and I mentioned this in my letter)
9. Support letter from my mother releasing me for study (I act as the caretaker of my late father’s properties which is in her possession)
10. Letter of commendation (not recommendation like the earlier one) from the last company I worked for under contract.

Please note, I had my police character certificate but couldn’t add it to my sop cause of space. So sent it as a webform. Also I started my sop with a little intro and then a table of content.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Sorry had to modify. Forgot to answer the bank statement part. For all documents you will submit in each category, by category I mean, letter of acceptance, proof of means of financial support, and client information, merge documents in each category into one single pdf file. You could do this using ilovepdf.com.

Please try and upload as many documents as suggested in your proof of means of financial support.

Nooo, how would I get upset with my fellow brothers and sisters? we're one here. our duty here is to help one another and that we will be doing. we may have contradictory views but still, we are one with one purpose ( Study and live in Canada). if frankrobbn and Justwise could have time to respond to my emails when I was doing mine, who I'm I not to give back to the family. is just a thing of conscience. But let it go ok. we have moved on from it.

You no know wetin you dey talk, even those that gets delayed post their timeline here just to give other an insights. What can be more painful than that. @forevatt behaved like a typical Nigerian, always wants to receive and not give, terrible habit.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Maypearl: 12:16pm On Nov 02, 2021
Hi Ketima,

I understand where you’re coming from but you also have try to put yourself in his shoes. He said he got the ppr but was pained because his admission had already expired. Please he was pained. You don’t know if it’s just this week he could pick himself up from that pain and forge ahead. Saying this from a good place, please do not get upset with my response.

Ketima:
First, let me state that it was so wrong of you that you got PPR and you never cared to come to share in the group that helped you so that others can learn and see how and what you did differently. you only come back cos you need help from the same group again. nevertheless, the group will always be there for each other.

Now to your question, Since the school has said you can apply for a new application for fall 2022, I think you may have a chance of securing admission since you did for the first time. if you secure admission since in the same DLI and same course all you need is to update IRCC and inform them of the new LOA (via mail and webform). But if you should apply to another DLI and get a new LOA, you will start your visa application from scratch again as stated by IRCC ( so long as the change of DLI was from outside Canada).

my opinion though

wait for gurus to guide you propoerly.

Hey, please did you go for your medical based on an appointment or you just paid at the bank and came for it. I’m asking because the website shows no available date till next year.

Kankanio:
I would advise you get there by 5:00AM.

I went a day before and the security personnel told me I should try and get to the venue by 6:00AM. I got there at 5:30AM and 2 people were there already. Be there at 5:00AM if you can so you can be among the 1st set of people. They started at 7:30AM but there were over a hundred people by then.

I finished at 1:30 PM just so you know.

But I’ll have to take your points into consideration. Thank you once again.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Maypearl: 12:02pm On Oct 22, 2021
Hello everyone,

I got 4 admission offers for Master programs starting in January 2022. I am only interested in two of the offers; one from London met university in the UK and another from Ryerson university in Canada. I am more interested in the offer from the Canadian university because I prefer the curriculum there but I’m a bit reluctant because of the Canadian visa process. I am 99% sure I’ll get a student visa for the London school but I really prefer the Canadian due to its curriculum and opportunity of a PR. I can’t accept both offers because I’d have to pay a deposit to receive my acceptance letters which I need for my visa applications. So I am here to ask for you guys opinions.

Should I take the risk and go for the Canadian visa or I should go for the London admission. Here is my details:

Education: Bsc Architecture 4.04 cgpa

Academic IELTS score: overall band score of 8, Listening - 9, reading - 8, writing - 7, speaking - 7.5

Finance: I have little to nothing personal savings compared to what needs to be in my account. I would be sponsored by my sister (blood sister) she resides in London and is a manager in one of the big 4 auditing companies. Her savings is way more than enough for my tuitions and living expenses. So my sponsor is more than capable.

Employment: I have been employed since I graduated in 2016, but they’ve all been on contracts, no official employment letter, no contract documents, but from my bank statements you can see transfers of money over the years with remarks of professional building fees, payment of building materials etc (I design and build houses). I don’t know if this is enough as proof of employment.

Ties to Nigeria: I am not married, but my two younger brothers (who are 21 and 19 years old) have been living with me for 2 years, I take care of them and I am their legal guardian on their school documents (because they live with me not my mum, the school consider them my wards and put my name as their parents/guardian) I have bank statements proofing I pay their school fees as well, is this enough to consider them as my dependents?

Finally my master program is not in architecture but in digital media design management. It is related to my course because I would be specialising on human oriented design and visual and augmented reality production which most digital architects are opting to study. But I don’t know if the visa officials will understand the connection.

Thank you in advance to all responses.

But in my search for an apartment I came across a nice clean one next to their federal college. I rented one only two is left in case any one is looking for a clean place to rent. If you’re interested I could send the pictures of my own place for you to see.
