Politics › Re: Mass Abduction: Stop Denying Security Problem, ADC Blasts FG by Mbanda(m): 8:42pm On Jan 22 |
Bobloco: The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed anger over the failed cover-up attempt of Kaduna abduction, saying such development reflects dangerous obsession with public relations.
The ADC, which warned the federal government to stop denying security problem, condemned the failed cover-up attempt by the Kaduna State Government and the Nigeria Police Force of the mass abduction of Nigerians, who gathered for worship in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru Local Government Area.
The party described the attempt as part of the APC government’s preoccupation with hiding the truth in order to look good.
ADC, in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, also criticised the Federal Government’s stone silence on this latest abduction of Christian worshippers, describing it as a sign of fatigue.
Expressing grave concern over the attempted cover up, ADC, which said that the incident was later confirmed by the same authorities after public outcry, added that “this episode raises a fundamental and dangerous question for our country: can a government whose first instinct is to withhold information and hide the truth be trusted to protect lives and improve security?
“The deliberate denial of a verified mass abduction is not a communications error. It is the behaviour of a government obsessed with looking good rather than solving problems. In moments of violence and emergency, truth is the first line of defence. It guides response, enables rescue, mobilises communities, and reassures a frightened public.
“However, when a government chooses silence or falsehood, it compounds danger, delays action, and deepens trauma. A government that lies during a security crisis does not merely fail its people; it actively places them at further risk.
“Credible reports that journalists, civil society actors, and independent observers were prevented from accessing affected communities make us wonder what exactly the government was attempting to hide.
“A government committed to solving problems in a time of crisis asks for information, not suppresses it. When official institutions dismiss verified accounts from families, community leaders, and religious bodies as falsehoods, they erode the very trust upon which effective security depends.”
ADC further said that the incident has also exposed serious contradictions in the so-called Kaduna peace approach, adding, “while the government moved swiftly to deny a major kidnapping in order to preserve a public image of peace and security, senior officials have openly acknowledged negotiations and concessions to bandits and criminal elements. This approach may grant immediate wins, but it is not sustainable; it is a dangerous gamble that rewards criminality while leaving law-abiding citizens vulnerable to further attacks.”
The ADC also condemned the Federal Government’s stone silence on this latest abduction of worshippers, adding, “this silence does not only suggest a lack of empathy; it indicates a government that is frustrated and has therefore chosen denial and silence. But silence by the Federal Government is not a strategy. It only reveals a government irritated that the public image it seeks to sell is being undermined by the reality of persistent insecurity in the country.
“The African Democratic Congress therefore calls for immediate and transparent rescue efforts for all abducted persons in Kurmin Wali and across Kaduna State. We further demand an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the initial denial of the abduction, including the role of all security and government officials involved in disseminating false information.
“All restrictions on journalists and civil society organisations seeking access to conflict-affected areas must be lifted without delay. Finally, the Kaduna State Government must fully disclose any agreements, negotiations, or arrangements entered into with armed groups, including their legal basis, terms, and oversight mechanisms.
“No Nigerian should ever have to beg their government to acknowledge their suffering. No family should be forced to prove that their loved ones have been taken by violence before the state will act. The ADC stands with the people of Kaduna State and with all Nigerians who believe that leadership begins with honesty, that authority carries responsibility, and that the first duty of government is to protect life, dignity, and truth.”

Are you saying that a whole US congressmen gets their information from a terrorist group like IPOB? That means that, you lots and your government has been lying and making jest of yourselves calling IPOB a terrorist group. Secondly, among the whole people/tribes in Nigeria it's only an Igbo man that the US found worthy to cause their hands in striking Sokoto caliphate. Politics › Re: 2027: Respect Power Rotation; Let Tinubu Finish Second Term, APC Chieftain Tells by Mbanda(m): 11:57am On Jan 18 |
Bobloco: .....Atiku, northerners
Mr Okechukwu said Mr Abubakar did not have the interest and unity of Nigeria at heart if he decided to contest against the turn of the south.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, Osita Okechukwu, has urged Nigerians, especially northern politicians, to allow President Bola Tinubu to finish his second term.
Mr Okechukwu, a former director-general of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), made the call during the flagging off of the APC e-registration at Eke Ward in the Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State on Saturday.
He noted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would be presumed the winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) primaries and urged him to adhere to the Nigerian presidency’s zoning and rotational formula.
Speaking after his registration, the party chieftain endorsed Mr Tinubu for a second term, calling on Mr Abubakar to allow him to complete his second tenure before power rotated to the north.
“By the time Tinubu finishes in 2031, any southerner who is coming for president, we will not allow the person because it will be the turn of the north,” he said.
Mr Okechukwu said Mr Abubakar did not have the interest and unity of Nigeria at heart if he decided to contest against the turn of the south.
He explained that Mr Abubakar benefited from the same rotation in 1999, when he became the vice president under President Olusegun Obasanjo.
“If not for good faith, restraint, and self-censorship, Alhaji Abubakar Rimi, Umaru Shinkafi, Adamu Ciroma, and Bukola Saraki were all qualified by any standard but conceded power to the south.
“This was how Abubakar became vice president under Obasanjo,” he said.
He disclosed that the origin of rotation began in Switzerland in 1848, and it was based on the principle that individuals should place the unity of their country first, with equity and a sense of belonging for every group.
“Other countries practiced it in one variant or the other, but for us, after the military coup and the long reign of the military regime in Nigeria, some Nigerian patriots came together.
“Their conclusion was that the only place to shift power was the South, and also to please Abiola and his followers, was to do a rotation convention whereby it would be the turn of the South, after which the north takes over.
“And that was exactly what happened because from 1999 to 2007, the South finished and handed over to a northerner,” he said.
He recalled that in 2003, Mr Abubakar breached the same zoning arrangement that brought the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into crisis, killing the party.
“So to sustain economic reforms of Tinubu, Nigeria’s democracy, and the peace of the country, the south under Tinubu should be allowed to complete their eight years in power,” he stressed.
Mr Okechukwu said the economy was bouncing back, expressing optimism that Nigerians would see more gains from the reform in Tinubu’s second term

Segunbabba: The Labour Party in Rivers State has officially collapsed its structure into the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Chairman of the party, Gogo Wellington, made this known alongside other party stalwarts at a press conference on Monday.
Wellington urged all members of the party and the Obidient Movement in Rivers State to channel all their support to the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
It further reports that Obi, who is a member of the coalition of opposition leaders plotting to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027, recently defected to ADC, the party adopted by the coalition.
Addressing party members on Monday, Wellington urge LP supporters “in the 23 local government areas of Rivers State to join our leader, Mr Peter Obi in the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
The deteriorating situation of our economy, worsening insecurity have made it evident that the time to rescue this nation is now or never.

Politics › Re: The Candidate To Defeat Tinubu Is Not Yet Born by Mbanda(m): 9:01pm On Jan 11 |
kayjordan: The current President Bola Tinubu is the strongest politician in Nigeria for many reasons - but one fact you must know is that, he's like a "Mafia-Politician" and you need someone that matches this quality to defeat him.
The contenders for the Aso seat in 2027 puts a light weight on the scale - to have the full chicken on it, goes beyond the consolidation of political parties - it's practically about individuality in this regard. Strong people bring value to political parties and the party structure rely on these strong individuals.
It may have been thought of severally, if Nigeria could have something like a Dangote/Otedola ticket on any political platform for example; but the truth is, such ticket would only be as powerful as the economy - not politically. Therefore there's no current billionaire in Nigeria that can contest with Tinubu except if you provide a "Donald Trump" replica.
The patronage system in Nigeria is an entitlement culture which acts as the fuel for the political machinery - from the average man on the streets to chieftains down to the civil service - everybody wants a share of the "National Cake" - nobody really cares about the "National Interest". Once you understand the psychology of Nigerians, you win the chess match.
To rule "the unruly" - you must be crazy enough to do it. There's a similar man that fits this description - "Wike".
The political branding of the - "money bag" or the "people's advocate", hasn't been proven to work effectively in Nigerian elections because - the system requires "familiarity". A well-known politician has more edge over a money-bag or an activists. It's just like a lady dating a rich sugar daddy and showing loyalty to a broke guy or an average guy she's known for years instead.
Nigerians are complex - to be as attractive as the man in power, you need a mix of big money, love for the people and massive popularity with ruthlessness. "Nobody listens to the Gentleman; they listen to the Soldier". The candidate that can defeat tinibu in election rigging and politics of lies is not yet born. Change the caption of your thread to this, so that people will understand the area you are driving at. |
Politics › Re: Only Tinubu Can Sack Me, Not Critics, Wike Declares by Mbanda(m): 8:53pm On Jan 11 |
Bobloco: The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has insisted that political power is earned through strength and strategic action, warning that Obio/Akpor Local Government Area remains a decisive force in Rivers State politics.
Wike also dismissed calls for his removal, stressing that the power to sack him lies solely with the President.
Wike spoke on Sunday during a thank-you visit to Obio/Akpor, where he addressed party leaders, traditional rulers, women, and youths.
PUNCH Online reports that the minister has been touring the state’s 23 local government areas to appreciate residents for their support in the 2023 elections and to canvass continued backing for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 polls.
Addressing the gathering, Wike stressed that politics should be guided by interest, not sentiment.
“There is no sentiment, there is no emotion. Politics is an interest; the interest of your people. Power is not given; we struggle for it. After all, if Donald Trump did not have power, would he go to Venezuela to pick a president? He wouldn’t. Because he has power, that’s why he can act,” Wike said.
“So for the people of Obio/Akpor, we have the power to dictate who becomes governor. All these people commenting from the sidelines, ask them if their local government, which produced only 5,000 votes, can challenge one that produced 40 per cent of the votes? Let us see how it will work.
“We will use our strength to punish them. Nobody has become governor in this state without Obio/Akpor making the pronouncement. Nobody has become the senator of Rivers East without Obio/Akpor deciding. So, if you like abusing us, after abusing us, come and look for the votes—and we will punish you with the votes.”
The former Rivers State governor also dismissed calls for his removal from office, stressing that such decisions rest solely with the President.
“Don’t bother about people who say ‘sack him.’ If my appointor believes I cannot offer anything again, he has the right, not that you should tell him. I am proud that the people of Obio/Akpor, the people of Rivers State, and Nigerians know we have not disappointed them in the FCT,” he said.
Earlier, the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Gift Worlu, praised Wike’s political influence, describing him as a major asset to the council, the state, and the nation. He commended Wike’s performance across various offices, including chairman, chief of staff, governor, and minister, and stressed the council’s loyalty to his leadership.
“When it comes to who should be President of Nigeria in 2027, we know where to go. As for the governorship of Rivers State, we know where not to go. We will not go the way of ingratitude, disappointment, or disloyalty,” Worlu said.
Also speaking, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, reaffirmed the legislature’s support for Wike and President Tinubu.
“On behalf of the RSHA, we assure you of our prayers and support as you continue to support Mr President. Don’t bother about detractors. The real people of Nigeria know your worth. They know you are helping the President deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Amaewhule said.
The visit comes against the backdrop of renewed political tension in Rivers State. On Thursday, the Rivers Assembly, led by Amaewhule, formally commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, over alleged gross misconduct.
The Majority Leader, Major Jack, presented a notice signed by 26 lawmakers citing alleged charges, including extra-budgetary spending of over N800 billion without legislative approval, withholding funds allocated to the Assembly Service Commission, demolition of the Assembly complex, and defiance of Supreme Court rulings on legislative autonomy. A separate notice was also read against the deputy governor for allegedly conniving in unconstitutional expenditures.
Amaewhule announced that the notices would be served within seven days, in line with the Constitution.
The development marks a renewed escalation in the protracted political crisis in Rivers State, stemming from the fallout between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Wike. Previous impeachment attempts in 2023 and 2025 were halted by presidential interventions, and a state of emergency was declared by President Bola Tinubu.

Politics › Re: Peter Obi Desperate To Be Nigeria’s President – Reno Omokri by Mbanda(m): 11:07am On Jan 11 |
Segunbabba: Ambassador-designate and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has accused Peter Obi, a leading figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), of being desperate to become Nigeria’s president “at all costs.”
Omokri alleged that Obi has been capitalising on recent fire incidents across different parts of the country to criticise the Federal Government, while allegedly failing to acknowledge similar tragedies in the South-East.
Writing on X, Omokri claimed that Obi often draws attention to fire outbreaks outside the Igbo-speaking region but remains noticeably quiet when comparable incidents occur within his home area.
He pointed to two separate fire disasters in Anambra State, one at Trano Rentals Hotel in Isuaniocha, Awka North, on January 1, and another during a Christmas carnival in Umuchu, Aguata Local Government Area, on December 30, 2025, which reportedly resulted in multiple deaths.
According to Omokri, Obi did not publicly react to either incident.
In contrast, he said Obi openly commented on fire outbreaks in Lagos, Kano, Niger, Plateau, Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto, a trend Omokri described as selective and politically driven.
Omokri further accused Obi of promoting ethnic and regional divisions in his commentary, arguing that many of the fire incidents were caused by environmental conditions rather than failures of governance.
He described Obi as a “tribal irredentist,” alleging that Obi’s quest for political power has diminished his ability to express sincere sympathy without attaching blame.
In his remarks, Omokri said Obi’s reference to a perceived “increase” in fire incidents amounted to an attempt to score political points, adding that instead of offering compassion to victims, Obi chose to direct blame at the government for incidents he claimed were largely influenced by environmental factors.
He wrote: “Peter Obi blaming “surge” of fire incidents on the government is a sad display of your tribalism, sectionalism, desperation and ignorance.
But because of your desperation to be President at all costs, including the de-marketing of Nigeria, you chose to blame the government for what the environment is responsible for.
