super information u just passed, "Core i7, 6gb/8gb ram 500gb/1TB internal memory". Is this specs powerful enough?! Back in school, my friend had a PC that could operate a software called "madagascar" its a geophysics app. I tripped so it's such purpose I want a high end affordable machine maybe around 800$ since u have convinced me grin
What u missed in the specs is ur GPU(Graphics processor unit) if ur Geophysics app is graphically demanding (meaning it renders millions of pixels at once) your GPU needs to be Nvidia or ATI, but if it does just calculations on a less demanding interface then d specs above re very generous.

If u playing the latest video games released on PS4/Xbox1 u can look at d PC priced at $800.. I think d specs above can run ur geophysics app very well,

Hello house,I just got on here after searching for specific information about people who've been to the US embassy before. My question is if one finds a school that gives conditional admission(Masters) and do not require Toefl or Gre,do one still have to take the exams for embassy sake? Can I take just Gre and forsake Toefl since Nigeria is mostly considered an English speaking country?? And would it be okay to just take Gre and forsake the Toeflhuh Thank you in anticipation of your wise suggestions.
Don't forsake the Toefl coz the Gre might forsake u,

I'm just kidding, any school can give u conditional admission, conditional admission re given when u don't meet requirements for d program, just check requirements for ur program n meet it, be it Toefl n Gre then u will be given unconditional Admission, the 2 exams re go for Visa interviews, they give u a better chance

Please house, I applied for an MS in MTSU; the sch's web site says that the duration of an MS programme is 2years....my i20 form says date of expected entry 24th August, 2015 date of completion, 4th May, 2018... Estimated period of stay 36months... That's 3years. Can't reconcile what's on the site with the content of the 120...somebody say something please
There's nothing wrong, whats written on ur I-20 is d correct 1, they re giving 3yrs to complete ur masters, if u like u can complete in 2yrs, it depends on d number of credits u register every semester.

Guys, u can get PTA @ Stanbic bank @ 208.04/$1. This is subject to having an account with them though. All you need is to go to their branch with your international passport with valid visa, Air ticket and admission letter. Just thought I should share the information.
Is it possible to still get this PTA, if just opened an account with them?

What is the naira for? If it is for school fees and other fees associated with school, then walk into the bank and fill a form M (can't recall the name of the form now). That way you can pay from Nigeria at the CBN exchange rate. However, it is just money for flexing, go with a copy of your passport and you should be able to buy some PTA at the CBN exchange rate from your bank.
The dollars is scarce, most banks don't give PTA at the moment. I have checked

Thank you mbeenox...noted already. Hope is okay if I put it this way------The school course catalog have classes relevant to my area of interest which is software engineering
You can mention the number of professors of software engineering they have, say something fascinating about 1 of them, like the research his doing n ur interest in that research. Say they have more than 15 professors of software Engineering, don't give an exact number, make sure u check ur department profile n check d actual number

grin Let her enjoy her rights. I was trying to let the newcomers know the reality of after school before they start sailing their boats to U.S. You know when a new Nigerian is still learning how U.S works, a new Indian is already making good use of info gotten from those here before him.

To the newcomers on this forum, forget who you're in Nigeria, forget if you were a manager in Nigeria, you're a NOBODY here and you're starting from level zero. I have seen a bank manager and bank employees working as security guys here in NYC. Even those that came to U.S on visa lottery are doing/have done scut works for many years. Simply accept that this place is different from your home.

If you're coming with A LOT of money, let's say N10, 000, 000 which is just $50263.900...... no amount of money is enough for you in U.S.
If you have parents that can load your account with money every week.... tell them not to stop.
If you're a lone star or self sponsor..... I'm afraid to tell you, that the next few years will be the toughest time of your life.
If you're getting GA now....... laugh now and cry later. Enjoy it while it lasts.
If you're coming for a weak course..... don't be like "the end is clear to one with blunt machete", start taking more prerequisites in other fields and thinking about switching later.
If you're thinking employers will be thrilled about your visa status, accent, course or level of experience....... you've missed road.
If you think your F1 visa is more than to study alone........ wake up from your slumber.

I don't dispute the fact that few people step out after stepping in but this situation is very rare.

You're coming for 2 lessons....... one is school lesson and the other is U.S lesson.

You can't be left out........ Be wise fellows!
Abeg make Una create trend for how to survive after schooling in US, Una don dey scare me small small

gurus in the house please I want you guys to critize the follow points for me. The question is why you choose this university?

Oklahoma state university is the flagship university in Oklahoma state. According to Princeton review the school is ranked 66 among top public schools

I choose Oklahoma state university because the school offers a number of student services including nonremedical tutoring, placement service and campus safety and security services like 24-hour foot and vehicle patrol

The curriculum matches my career goal in the senses that after completing my degree I would come back home to join other computer scientist solving computer related issues

OSU has a large international community helping to both foster the attainment of your educational and career goals, while also assisting with your transition to student life in the United States
I think u need to refine ur statement in d bolded part, the curriculum doesn't Have anything to do with u coming back to Nigeria. N "sense" instead of "Senses"

You could say the course catalog have classes relevant to my area of interest which is (mention one area of concentration in ur field)
