What you should have done was apply for civil engineering then when you come to school you change your course
I don't know if it works that way, I haven't heard of anyone changing Graduate course like that.
Since I wasn't offered admission 4 d course do u think they now accept d change, the same criteria that didn't allow them to admit me to d department will still factor in

It don't mean that school has 87 % acceptance rate did they give you a reason for refusing you admission
My dear friend it means alot, Every other applicant probably had an undergraduate degree in chemical or pet or a related course, I know ur school has a very high acceptance rate, if it was civil Eng masters I applied 4 I would have gotten. Same thing in Texas A&M at college station, they just said my application wasn't competitive enough. I just gave up on d pet eng n applied 4 Civil eng in UT Arlington n was admitted sharp sharp. Maybe if I have applied to lower schools they would hv admitted me 4 peteng

Can I ask my folks to transfer money to me when get through a domicillary acct, I'm still in Nigeria n I don't have anyone in the states. Will the exchange of domiciliary acct be #200

What's the best option for someone about to leave Naija with this new CBN policy in effect, I thought of opening a couple of accounts for different banks in my sibling names n carry their cards along so as to Avoid the withdrawal limit on a single person tracked by the BVN

Please any advice

CBN piling up restrictions on naira dominated master card, cry grin fidelity bank advising me to get a dollar platinum card?! Please I have read the bank/card discussions here but a failing naira is not helping matters, a wired transfer costing 248 per dollar already grin, some once talked about buying money order from a departmental store such as kroger or walmart and go and pay it into the account, but now that CBN tails are at alert
I think its would be better for those in nigeria to weigh several options before leaving......
What re d gud options, pls advice?

I said something similar on this to Justwise sometimes ago when someone was looking for a particular post and i also said someone can use a command on NL to search for a particular post and it will just bring it up but he said no such since he doesn't have the power and only the Admin can do that or so

I believe Mr seun can do something like this and similar to the # tag you mentioned above but if people dont make use of that, i dont think what people are searching they will get it directly maybe similar or close to it sha.

Maybe searching for a special word like transcript or visa granted or visa approved will do the work better in order to save them stress of reading from part 1 to 6

Although reading through part 1 to 6 will also help and assist them to acquire more experience and side attractions like advise and comment suggested for delayed applicants, e-fighting, jokes etc and not just only the success story experience alone
I know we all fond of saying Google is ur friend on Nairaland grin, and in this case he's still our friend.

I did a search with Keywords usually used in a visa transcript to bring out all Visa Transcripts on this Trend.
Just type this into Google:

This will bring up most approvals on this trend
Nairaland Visa Approved General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 - Travel transcript Vo

This will bring up most denials on this trend
Nairaland Visa denied delayed General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 - Travel transcript Vo

This should help a little

bbdd, I do not know what your background is or who you are as a person, but I must say you do come across as rude.

"This is a bold face lie". Was that necessary? My point was you cannot and SHOULD NOT label people you barely know and haven't met. That's what I learnt growing up. You CAN communicate with people without such show of aggression.

Now, believe it or not, there ARE schools in the United States that give funding based on criteria other than standardized tests. You claim you are not a novice and yet do not know that some schools waive the GRE requirement for individuals with more than 5-7 years work experience in the field of study they are applying for.

Preparing for the GRE requires lots of time and sacrifice. For one, you'd need to begin preparation at least 2 months to test day if you're hoping for a decent score. Not many people have that type of time on their hands esp those with families and kids. In such cases, it will be unwise sitting for an exam you've barely had time to prepare for because you can always predict the outcome.

Finally, like I stated in my previous post, some individuals (some of whom I know) have sponsors willing to cover the cost of their education but couldn't be bothered about the process of obtaining the admission.

I personally did not want to write the GRE not because I am lazy or as you put it "not academically excellent/ afraid of writing the test), but I had so much going on at the time, writing the test would've been impossible. I eventually did but I'm not going to go into that right now.
Let me give you a little bit of my background. Had my undergrad outside Nigeria at a regional powerhouse, completed my masters in two western European countries (turned down a full scholarship to LSE to attend this program), worked at the United Nations headquarters in New York and started a Phd (but transferring to a diff institution) all before the age of 25.
I imagine, if I had on come here at the time with the question, you'd have called me lazy.

I am not disputing the fact that some individuals are in fact lazy or have other intentions for actually wanting to travel to the US (other than studies), but there are others that are genuinely unable to write the exams for cogent reasons, so labeling everyone as lazy is not right.

I am not going to argue with you on this.

Oh and btw, I had 322 (Q:161, V:161, AWA: 4.5) on the test but I'm still lazy yeah?
Don't discourage someone about writing the Test, even if they get funding without it, what is their chances of getting Visa without it.
Personally i don't think Gre is that much of a big deal, When I wrote mine, its was a week to the exam I started studying and I still got a good score.

It doesn't count for job however, it gives you the satisfaction you desire that you worked hard and you achieved. The feeling when you walk across the podium when you are called and look back to all you went through to achieve it is the reason you have to work hard to achieve good success.

Some people have cogent reasons for not wanting to write standardized tests. Cost is one of them, time's another, just to name a few. Don't be too quick to pass judgement on others especially if you don't know their predicaments
If u think u gonna be considered for given a reason such Cost, how will even pay Tuition fee if u can't afford GRE

I wrote standardized exams...GRE , IELTS (310 AND 7 respectively)
The 1st interview was a mess and i have agreed but is there aything wrong with an inlaw sponsoring
Hello, my advice is:

1. Say u apply more than 1 school even if its 1 u applied to
2. Don't say a friend told you to apply, say u apply for ur own personal reasons, find a good reason
3. If its possible u transfer funds to ur acct n ur Dad's acct and say u re self sponsoing or u dad is sponsoring u
4. Find a better reason why u choose the school, find some special to say about ur department

5.Be confident and pray very well

Goodluck

hello friends, I av two questions
1. how does one send a bank statement of account to a school in US? Am thinking it I ll just scan and send, but am not sure if this is the right way.
2. How does one submit d Sevis form to the address giving on the sch's website? Since I don't av anyone over there and it's impossible for me to go over to submit it in person.

This is my first application.
They will accept scanned copies of ur statement, but check the school website for how to show proof of financial capability

Depending on the course getting job during OPT year sometimes is almost impossible. Still the government will give you 90 days to get job at all cost in your field either you're extending OPT or not. Also check this below.
Pls what happens when u graduate n u don't get a job in 90days n u go out of status?
How easy is it to get a job after graduation?
Will graduating with Distinction guarantee u a job?
