My candid submission:

1. Given the fact that Nigeria for the first time witnessed a real/true change of government (from one party to another), it is expected that economic activities will slow down within the first few months of the new govt as it takes time to formulate a new direction. This fact is more reinforced when one considers the type of economy the new government inherited. It was an economy that the PDP/FG borrowed to pay its workers in March and April of 2015. Had PDP won, they would have continued the borrowing as crude price slides further.

2. Most of the economic performance figures given in this analysis were for the first two quarters of 2015 which are Jan, Feb, March, April, May and June. Of those six months, Jonathan was in charge for five months. So, if any blame is due for apportioning, it is to GEJ's government.

3. There is surely brighter future for Nigeria given that the new government has shown capacity to block avenues for leakages and wastages as seen with past governments. It is such efforts that have increased our foreign reserves from $29 billion left by GEJ (he met $47.7bn) to above $32bn in just after two months of PMB. It's same efforts that have increased states' and federal allocations for two consecutive months in June and July.

4. As we restructure NNPC and look more in other directions such as mining, improved IGR and farming, our dependence on crude oil which has brought this glooming economic picture will reduce in the coming years; and Nigeria shall return to better outlook.

5. With reduced corrupt business environment, investors' confidence will improve and Nigerian economy will soon start to pick up especially with the incoming new cabinet ministers in this month.

I.thank God that my precious ss vote I gave pmb was not wasted..for the first in the history of. Nigeria, we have a President who is even acknowledged by his own enemies as not being corrupt. with the emergence of pmb as President, there is surely hope that Nigeria my dear country, will soon become a global economic power. since the head is not corrupt, others below will have to follow suit or be disgraced.

The Oba of Lagos, Riliwanu Akiolu, says there is a need for non-indigenes in Lagos State to respect the tradition and culture of their host.

The monarch said this during an exclusive interview with our correspondent.

While responding to a question on the threat he issued out to Igbo residents in Lagos State if they did not vote for Akinwunmi Ambode of the All Progressives Congress, Akiolu maintained that he had no ill feeling towards Igbo in the state as some of his closest friends were Igbo.

He said, “Eze Odimegwu, who is a former CEO of Nigerian Breweries, is still my best friend as well as many others. The Obi of Onitsha came to visit me here a few days ago. When you go to a place, you have to respect the host leaders, particularly the traditional leaders there because you are coming to benefit from their success.

“The people of Lagos are the friendliest and most accommodating people in Nigeria.”

He said the video which showed him issuing threats to Igbo leaders was a misrepresentation of what truly transpired.

He said the issue was twisted by those who wanted to gain political advantage ahead of the governorship election but God put them to shame.

“Those who orchestrated the entire incident know themselves and I tell you, those (Igbo leaders) who came here on that day understand me a lot and have even been coming since then,” he said.

Akiolu said many of the non-indigenes were deceived by politicians in their quest for power.

He said, “The man that promised to hand them deputy governorship slot and four commissioner positions and would elevate the status of Eze Ndigbo to that of Oba of Lagos has since denied it.

“It was all a political gimmick because I am sure they know that he was only deceiving them. As a matter of fact, prominent traditional rulers in the South-East have been writing us to say that they are not happy about the large number of ezes in Lagos.”

He urged all Igbo who won elections in Lagos State not to disappoint the people.

The monarch said he was confident that Ambode would do well in office.

He said Ambode would serve as governor for eight years not just because it was the will of God but because he would perform excellently well. He, however, said Agbaje was free to contest again in 2019 if he wanted.

He said, “By the Grace of Almighty Allah and my ancestors in this house, the Governor-elect, Ambode, will rule for eight years with a good performance.”

He said he had nothing against the Peoples Democratic Party or its governorship candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, but noted that all humans are equal in the eyes of God but are not equal in the love of God.

He said Ambode proved his competence by saving the state from financial hardship when it was deprived of funds from the Federal Government.

Akiolu said he was not a politician but was only interested in the prosperity of Lagos and would continue to support the best.

They said GEJ could not fight corruption but the first step he took which was fuel subsidy removal that would've stopped corruption in oil and gas sector and save Nigeria billions of Naira, Nigerians took to the street and were shouting; stone him!
