na woman born Carrick? |
playing a striker upfront in this case is a critical part of defending. it will help relieve on the back four and help the midfield regroup. i don;t know how we can cope without a striker there. |
Nah. . . that's gross naivety from the young lad.Fergie should take off Rooney
i don't blame him. i will only blame him if he does same in 18 months time. lad has way too much potential to be knocked. these things come with age.he will get well. |
so who plays upfront now? it is getting confusing. |
did rooney bribe fergie or he has incriminating evidence against him? |
what the heck is rooney doing on this pitch? |
Rooney is still on ![]() na wa o!!! |
Rooney lost the ball. take him out, fergie. it is not worth it. |
it's Michael Jackson again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
This is the end of Berbatov's united career. As a huge fan of his, it is unfortunate but there is no other conclusion. Being benched for a hugely unfit Rooney? There is no explanation for this. Goodbye Berba, you had a chance but it just did not work out. |
Goooooooooooooooooooooal by Micheal Jackson double!!!! |

kindly come back and give us an update on whatever he says. although i am not holding my breath. |
I am really struggling to see this issue from Debosky's view point. As much as i try,it is just not making sense to me. I am still struggling to understand how these men were forced to go on this visit? the single most contentious issue in the country today is this Yar Adua health issue. Yet you have an opportunity to either contribute to this issue positively yet you claim it was a private visit? Is he trying to feel important or what (i hang out with the Yar Aduas',i am a bigger boy!!!!!)? If that visit did not have a political undertone and i believe the pastors that attended are too intelligent not to realise that, what exactly was the aim? I am even more worried that men like him who are meant to be oracles of truth in times such as these, will be partying with the likes of OGD and cloak it with sanctimonious, hypocritical sermons. No wonder, the church in Nigeria is powerless. Its leaders are not passionate about change in the public space and are unwilling to challenge the powers that are ruining this nation. How many of these men that visited Yar Adua have joined the public in matching for change? How many have identified with symbolic public gestures that shows they identify with the masses in the struggle to free this nation from the grip of bankrupt and vision less leaders? These men think that the monster that grips this nation can be bound by attempting to tame it and speak sweet nothings to the powers that be, while currying favours by their close proximity to Aso rock. We shall all leave to see the end but i can bet the end will not be good. These big churches spend millions monthly on power generation yet they are silent on the issues of NEPA. How many of them supported the 'light up Nigeria project' or even start a similar project with the huge funds at their disposal? They have never empowered their members to demand for equity and judicious use of funds from the powers that be,instead they arouse themselves in the aphrodisiac of proximity to power, forgetting that they are meant to be oracles of the Greatest power of all. Private visit or not, these men have opened themselves to so much ridicule that i struggle to understand how they can justify it in the face of present day realities. The country is under the cloud of deceit, lies and rumours and men that ought to know better have chosen to thicken this dark and ominous cloud. |
I know that Sahara cooks up some of their stories out of their very fertile imagination. However, in a country where lies, deception and rumours are tools of governance, there is very little room for blaming sahara. These pastors have put themselves up for ridicule and disgrace. They should bear it with dignity. It is well!!! |
G.O. meets the Don!!! i weep for the church in Nigeria. |
[img][/img] Authoritative sources have told Saharareporters that former Governor James Ibori of Delta State organized yesterday’s visit of four Christian leaders to see ailing Nigerian ruler Umaru Yar’adua in Aso Rock Villa. Archbishop John Onaiyekan, the outspoken Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Bishop David Oyedepo, the high-flying prosperity pastor who is general overseer of the Winners Chapel, Pastor Yusuf Obaje, who served as chaplain in Aso Rock during former President Obasanjo’s tenure, and Reverend Emmanuel Kure of the Throne Room Church in Kaduna made the trip to see Yar’adua. Our sources said that Ibori, who remains in hiding after the EFCC chairperson, Farida Waziri, tipped him off on plans to arrest him for fresh money laundering offences, made contact with several Christian leaders to arrange a “Christian” visit to the gravely ill Yar’adua. Ibori, our sources said, acted at the request of Turai, Yar’adua’s wife, who felt that a visit by a Christian group would be a good move after an earlier visit by Islamic prelates backfired. Besides, Ibori reportedly told her that a visit by Christian leaders would help calm a raging negative storm triggered by the visit by Muslim clerics. One of the Islamic clerics, Datti Ahmad, had issued widely reported threats that Nigeria would experience crisis if Yar’adua was removed from power. “Hajia [Turai] convinced Chief Ibori to arrange some Christian leaders to see her husband, whatever his condition, to douse any lingering controversy – and also to enlist some Christian sympathy for her desire to secure her husband as a continuing relevant factor,” said one source. After Saharareporters broke the news about the composition of the Christian delegation, some newspapers rushed to town with claims that Archbishop Onaiyekan and Bishop Oyedepo had denied being part of the delegation. But Oyedepo today broke his silence in Abeokuta where he had gone to preach at Governor Gbenga Daniels’ birthday event. Besieged by reporters, Oyedepo confessed that he was actually part of the delegation. However, he arrogantly told the newspapers that he does not owe the Nigerian public an explanation for his visit, which he described as private. Our sources disclosed Turai Yar’adua was overwhelmed by the public outcry that greeted the visit to her husband by four imams. A close source to one of the imams revealed that the Islamic leaders had held several meetings with Turai to fine-tune strategies for frustrating “acting President” Goodluck Jonathan’s consolidation of power. Saharareporters has learnt from various political sources in Abuja that Mrs. Yar’adua had lost a lot of sleep over the possibility that her physically ravaged husband could be declared incapacitated by a new cabinet put in place by Jonathan. “She had hoped that the imams’ visit could help ignite some sort of demonstration after Friday prayers in mosques across the north,” said one security source. When that outcome failed to materialize, she asked Ibori to help reach out to credible Christian leaders who could help douse the criticisms trailing the visit by the imams. One source said that Ibori first contacted Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor who declined the offer. He then invited Oyedepo, Onaiyekan and Obaje who agreed to pay a visit. Obaje, who had a falling out with Obasanjo towards the end of his tenure because the ex-president had failed to anoint him governor of Kogi State, was said to be “excited to be part of the delegation.” Saharareporters could not establish why Onaiyekan, who has a reputation for being outspoken about political corruption, and Oyedepo agreed to be part of the delegation. However, our source indicated that Ibori specifically recruited Reverend Kure to “help the Yar’adua group out with some propaganda.” “Perhaps unknown to the other three, Reverend Kure was specially hired to do the same job for Turai Yar’adua that Dr. Datti did after the Muslim clerics’ visit,” said one source. “That job was to present to the public an impression that Yar’adua was making steady improvement and should be expected to return to office.” However, after being grilled by foreign correspondents and local journalists after the encounter with Yar’adua, Kure was forced to admit that Yar’adua could only manage to grunt “Amen” during their prayer session with him. In yet another interview he said that he had closed his eyes to pray and could not tell if Yar’adua actually said Amen. A source told Saharareporters that Onaiyekan was keeping silent for now because he was reportedly too shocked at the condition of Yar’adua.

From George Oji in Abuja, 04.07.2010 Fct Wife of the Acting President, Patience Jonathan, has started rallying political support for her husband. In what has been seen by political observers as a deft political move, Jonathan convened a meeting of key women politicians in the country, under the aegis of Women in Government, at the Akinola Aguda, Presidential Villa, Abuja, official residence of her husband. The meeting, which commenced at 8.00p.m., had in attendance wives of governors and deputy governors, female lawmakers from states and National Assemblies, wives of federal lawmakers, female Judges, female ministerial nominees, including Senator Chris Anyanwu, Mrs. Josephine Anenih, Mrs. Bola Shagaya, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, Justice Austin Opara, Aisha Shinkafi, and wife of Director General of the National Intelligent Agency (NIA), among others. After the first session, which involved the formal welcome address by Jonathan, response by wife of the Deputy Senate President, Mrs. Ike Ekweremadu and the dinner session, reporters and all male security aides were asked out of the gathering. THISDAY later learnt that the second session, which started with a dance party, during which the women let loose and danced their hearts out to several rendition of oldies, lasted late into the night. In her welcome remarks, Jonathan said she was overwhelmed at the turn out, adding that the occasion was her own way of expressing and sharing love with the invitees. While seeking their support, advise and encouragement, she said the meeting became imperative, in order to encourage the women to give their husbands, who are political office holders, the needed support to move the country forward. “Tonight, I have invited all of you so that we can share love together. Whatever you see here, please take it like that, even if it is water, we should take it, that is my own way of sharing my love with you. “At the same time, I am appealing to you, whatever is my shortcoming, please forgive me and let us work together and move Nigeria forward. I am here for you and I believe you are here for me too. I need your support, I need your advise, I need your encouragement and by doing so, we will be able to support our husbands and Nigeria will move forward. “So, we need to encourage our husbands and stand by them, so that Nigeria can move forward and by doing so they will have pity on us and give us more opportunities. “Please, we don’t need to force them, we need to appeal to them, we need to support them, we need to encourage them, anything we can do to appeal to them to please give us more opportunities. We know that the men are the head of the house, but without the women, the men too are not complete. So, they need us as much as we need them,” Jonathan said. Mrs. Jonathan also used the occasion to review progress on the 1995 Berlin Women Conference target on affirmative action for women and concluded that Nigeria has not fared badly in terms of the 30 per cent target set by the conference. “As we can see, everyday we campaign for 35 per cent representation of women in political office, that is affirmative action. We say we need 35 per cent, how can we get 35 per cent if we are not together? We need to be together, we need to support ourselves, we need to be behind each other, by the side of every one of us. “If we look at the Senate, we have 109 senators, but only eight are women. I believe they have done well, and we need more women there. If you come to the House of Representatives, we have 360 and only 23 are women, so we need more women there. When we come to the ministers, they have confirmed 38 ministers and out of that number, how many are women? Only 6," she said. |
Lagos Pastor and leader of the pro-democracy Save Nigeria Group, Tunde Bakare, has criticised the recent visits of Muslim and Christian clerics to President Umaru Yar’Adua as “the theatre of the absurd.” Mr. Bakare, who spoke in Lagos on Tuesday, on the heels of Monday’s visit of Christian leaders to Mr. Yar’Adua, said: “It doesn’t matter the number of clerics and ‘babalawo’ taken there. The simple truth is there is something to hide. You know those who operate in the light cannot be afraid to come out.” He said it is not a crime to be sick, but that Nigerians deserve to know the state of health of their president. “My good wishes and prayers to the president, if he is truly recovering,” he said. “If they are playing a dangerous political game with his health situation, then nobody should give support to the foolishness that is going on.” Citing the example of Fidel Castrol of Cuba, the clergyman said powerful world leaders had also found themselves in such situation before, but have been open about it. He said the cohorts taking care of the president should be asked: “what is wrong with allowing the acting president to see him at the Aso Villa? “I think you journalists should do a serious investigative journalism on this. To be honest with you, I think everything is just becoming the theatre of the absurd; that is all that I could say.” Last Thursday, some Islamic leaders have visited the ailing president. On Monday, it was the turn of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), whose leadership claimed they sighted and prayed with Mr. Yar’Adua. |
i planned not to comment on this section of the forum again but i could not help myself on this topic. I think i have finally given up on the state of the church in Nigeria. church members can pack up and go home. Deceit and lack of leadership has anchored in the Nigerian church. What the heck is this guy doing in OGD's birthday? What exactly is happening in the church? Have we lost our senses? What part of NO can't these men utter to the powers that be,if truly they stand as oracles of the God of all power and potential? To the issue of Yar Adua, i am too lazy and too uninterested to type another word to Oyedepo, i will just repeat the comments i directed at Nuhu Kure on another site. This will suffice for Oyedepo. if i was to name three pentecostal preachers who are men of integrity, Nuhu Kure will be on the list. Irrespective of that, i refuse to be cowed either by the desperate act of the barbarians or the comments of Kure. Why did he not refuse the invitation if he knew that he was unable or uninterested to get involved in politics? Was he coerced or threatened to attend the meeting? Could he not pray for the man from his house? Why give credence to rascality and lawlessness? What does he hope to achieve by his half hearted comments? Why did he not start by praying for Turai and asking her to commit to a relationship with his lord and saviour and desist from her evil ways? Kure should remember his master's word on being neither hot or cold. Not a thousand Kures can legalize rascality and lawlessness. Nuru Kure needs to take a chill pill and ask for forgiveness from God for this wrong turn. We the people are too uninterested to even bother at these tales. However, the coming inferno continues its gradual surge unrelentlessly. These men should be ashamed of themselves. This is not an invitation to bash the Christian faith but the Nigerian church deserves all the bashings it can get. |
Why did the word filter not travel with them ![]() |
^^^^^^^^^^ na joke be that? you no dey that eminent list o! |
I probably will not have the time to do a proper top ten list but i will mention a few NLers whose comments and contributions i have found insightful in my short stay here. 1. Ibime - i have said enough already in previous posts on this thread. 2. Jarus - i seem to attack him at every possible turn but i am a secret admirer (no homo feelings o!).He makes his comments with passion, candour and always without malice. The same passion has brought to the development of this thread. His views are often well thought out and always insightful. 3. Lalaboi - my favourite mod on this site.He is an encyclopedia in Nigerian music (i just hope copyright enforcers do not catch him one day!).Manages to keep the peace in an emotional section like the music section.very insightful lover of Nigerian music,in particular. 4. Ajanlekoko - Another matured contributor.I have followed his comments on the career, politics and even sports sections. As volatile as those sections can be, he manages to keep his cool, eschews cheap insults and always manages to make his point intelligently. From his comments on the career section, he is one person i suspect i know in person but for certain internet rules of miine, i can't confirm that suspicion. 5. tkb417 - You can tell he is a man of class from the club he supports .His comments reflect that class.6. Davidylan - i first got attracted to this guy's comments based on his Christian views, then i discovered his whoring tendencies. Guy, i bow for you.Nothing do you o! There are many more but i don tire.these 5 don do. |
tkb417:Mods help us with this interview. still can't see it. |
The issue is a global one. over qualification is here to stay (in the interim i hope). The fact is that barrier to entry in the labour market has been raised by heightened competitive forces. The Google UK scenario is replicated in most 1st tier management consulting firms. They used to high cream of ivy league business schools (hey still do) but the rate has reduced as the supply is now plentiful, they now prefer PHD holders and now cherry pick even the cream from the top business schools. a case where you have Msc or M.A holders with no work experience vying for entry level positions makes the fresh 1st degree graduate almost redundant in the labour market. go check biz schools like Harvard and NYU, a good number of the intakes have very little work experience. More and more degrees are becoming the differentiating factor for most applicants. The funny thing is that more degrees without real work experiences are increasing worthless but the funny circle continues. One more thing, one whether employers are benefiting from the trend; it depends. |
AjanleKoko:i beta go to CAC and register that name quickly. |
SPIKEY's star quote is the most insightful comment i have seen on this thread (an there are lots of insightful stuff, here). I have to diversify my interests on this site if i hope to stay much longer. Find sections where passion and reason do not have regular clashes and reason always comes off second best. Suraj, well done. You try well well. |
nedum is not good enough. besides, like Fashanu, he is looking to reap where he never sowed. Sorry mate, you are fired!!! |

Robbery: Deposit your money with us National News Mar 29, 2010 By Kingsley Omonob ABUJA—Following alleged robbery attacks on two petrol stations along Airport road, in the FCT, authorities of the Lugbe Police division, have sent instructions to the owners of petrol stations in the area to carry their money to police stations for safe-keeping any time they are incapacitated from going to the banks to keep such monies. The advice came just as authorities of the FCT police command said they took exception to insinuations that policemen posted to provide security for filling stations, are conniving with unknown persons to perpetrate acts of robbery on such stations and cart away sales of such filling stations. Speaking against the backdrop of alleged robbery attack on a petrol station where the sum of N3. 5million was allegedly carted away, the DPO in charge of Lugbe, CSP Olufemi Abaniwonda disclosed that he had during several meetings with the proprietors of the petrol stations, informed them that if any occasion should arise making it impossible for them to deposit their sales in the bank, they should bring it to the Police station for safe-keeping. |
From Martins Oloja, Abuja Bureau Chief and Marcel Mbamalu (Lagos) IT was a mixed grill of panic and excitement in the public finance sector during the week, as hints that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) may have resolved to effect implementation of 2006 Bankers Committee Code of Conduct filtered in. The Corporate Governance policy document, when fully enforced, could send most of the best hands in the executive management cadre of the nation's banking industry packing. Sources at the Central Bank, the Finance Ministry and the Presidency told The Guardian that another human resource management trouble could have been stirred by the decision of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) to implement the Code of Conduct. The bank had, in a bid to enhance its corporate governance profile, begun to implement the Code of Conduct, which had remained comatose for nearly four years. It was also learnt that GTB's compliance, which was officially communicated to the apex bank, would affect most of its executive management officers and non-executive directors, including the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Olutayo Aderinokun. The 2006 Code of Conduct, a major corporate governance document, was designed by the Bankers Committee under the supervision of the Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo-led CBN and signed by all the managing directors of the consolidated banks. It stipulates that banks should have succession plans for chief executive officers, and non-executive directors. It also provides that non-executive directors are not expected to spend more than 12 years (or three terms of four years each). The CBN recently issued a directive to banks, which chief executives have served for 10 years and above to leave office by August this year, an order that had elicited criticism from various quarters. Meanwhile, apprehension has gripped the operators in the Nigerian stock market as they await the release of 2009 financial reports of banks. It was gathered, at the weekend that, three months after the end of the 2009 financial year, more than 50 per cent of the banks are yet to submit their financial statements to the apex bank for approval and subsequent publication. Industry sources said the banks are not in a hurry to release the results in the public domain due to perceived losses recorded in the 2009 financial year. It would be recalled that the apex bank's new policy on disclosure had forced banks to make provisions for margin and energy sector loans. Most of the banks had argued that the loans were not bad as they could be recovered when the stock market rebounds. Head of Corporate Affairs of the CBN, Mohammed Abdullahi, yesterdy said only a few of the banks had submitted their reports for approval out of which a few had been approved by the CBN. Besides, the Code also provides that banks must change auditors after a maximum of 10 years. This development has already been communicated to the Bankers Committee at its 298th meeting held early in this month. The CBN was said to have read out a letter reportedly written to it by the GTB management announcing its compliance with the Code of Conduct that would affect even its managing director, Aderinokun, Chairman, Owelle Gilbert Chikelu, and non-Executive Director, Mr. Victor Osibodu. The announcement at the Bankers' Committee meeting has, therefore, triggered off a chain of events that could lead to the exit of a large pool of experienced bank managers from almost all the major banks. According to industry experts, the implications of the new deal - diminished in the media by the current cabinet reconstitution politics - four top directors in First Bank, including the Chairman, Oba Otudeko, will be affected. " The result is that, by December, the Chairman of First Bank, London, Rasheed, may be the only face who can be chairman in First Bank," hinted an insider last night. The Guardian also gathered that the Finance Ministry officials, as well as the CBN executive management are excited with the development, as "the reform that may soon sweep away so many Lagos-based bankers, has come from inside the bank." A source at the apex bank said " the affected bank managers and directors are not being chased away from the industry as they could go to other banks if they so wish. "But the important thing to us is that if the CBN Governor had been the whistle blower, this time, there would have been another uproar that he has come again with his ethnic agenda and politics," said the source. |
