Tough times ahead. Was almost stranded xterday trying to pay hotel bill with 4 different cards. Had to part with the little $ cash on me.
When they steal and deplete Forex reserve, the masses suffer for it. I wonder how people who rely so much on the use of their Nigerian Bank Cards to pay bills will survive?
All looters of our treasury, past & present should be locked behind bars. All these Policies will only put innocent Nigerians in a very stringent situation while the looters will always have their way.

Nigerians, how did we get here?
Dude it is a serious matter o.
At this rate the dollar will easily reach 300 by next weekend. travellers will have to fund their trips by cash. So if dollar is scarce via official routes, the black market will have to make a way.

I have also been informed about this development.

Funny, I do not see how this will weaken the dollar against the naira. This would simply increase demand for the dollar.
In a country where things are easily smuggled in and out, who told them some cartel would not take over the dollar market?
If they want a strong Naira they know what to do. To me these are just but cosmetic approaches.

A lot of the small and medium scale importation businesses are heavily reliant on imports from online sites. Unless there is an alternative that Nigerians will accept and patronize, they will simply cause inflation. Coupled with the fuel scarcity, reduced power supply and the mere fact that this is the yuletide period, I see a terrible brew.
The banks are not doing it to weaken the dollar.
They just cant fund the purchase of dollars at the present rate.
I heard unconfirmed reports that banks are owing mastercard and visa almost unimaginable debts in recent times.

Many ignorant fellows do not even know that Christianity is a post-Jesus contraption. Talk about ignorance!
What is your understanding of Christianity?
You are supposed to be an enlightened fellow but you go around throwing subtle rude comments at others. From calling them ignorant (about their own belief systems not yours) to calling their beliefs mediocre.
How do you find your level of evolution as a mystic if your conversation is filled with such arrogance?

I have respected your opinion. Still learn to be tolerant to the views of others. If Jesus was tolerant, a religion wouldn't have evolved from his teachings!
So Jesus was intolerant?

I respect your opinion sire! Christianity is not for everyone, Rosicrucianism is not for everyone, Islam is not for everyone. In fact, Religion itself is not for everyone. My only issue is simple, do not say because you believe in one or both, that others who do not are sinners and will burn in HELL! That mindset is mediocre and even Jesus wont sanction such intolerance.
Why are you so hell conscious?
Where in my posts did I mention hell and burning therein?
Just like your organization has core beliefs and principles, so does Christianity. Jesus Christ's place in Christianity is exclusive. So exclusive that it entailed God himself coming down in the form of a man to redeem man back to Himself.
Choosing some other "route" to God does not exclude you from God's love but neither does it invalidate the exclusivity of Jesus as the ONLY mediator between man and God.

All I have been harping on is the fact that a Christian cannot seek self mastery or mastery of the universe outside Christ. I am really pertubed by the rest of the arguments.

I donot attack it. In fact, I adore it. I just dont like the idea that YOU IMPOSE IT ON OTHERS! Simple! I have not imposed Rosicrucianism on anyone on this thread! I have only corrected misconceptions and addressed those who attack our teachings and way of life through blind dogma.

My degree of evolution is left for me to unravel and understand. I donot claim to be anything other than a STUDENT of LIFE!
Please point me to where I imposed Christianity on you or any Light bearer?
All I have attempted to do is correct the erroneous impression that one can be a Christian while also seeking self mastery and mastery of the universe via anything else outside Christ. The essence of my posts has been to re-validate the biblical standpoint that a true Christian does not need any form of mastery outside the lordship of Jesus as the full expression of the Godhead as revealed in the Bible and a manifestation of the love of God on earth. In none of my posts have I attempted to impose anything on you apart pointing out the arrogance in your denouncement of God's revealed Word to me as "scribbled writing of yester years".
You claim to be a Student of Life, I proclaim to be a redeemed son of the Most High purchased by the blood of His Son and growing in a loving relationship with Him.

Enjoy the weekend.

Yes sire! There are plenty people like that and for some reason or another, I call most natural mystics due to their degree of evolution.! People like that wont attack things and people just because they dont subscribe to it or dont understand it.
So how come you attack my "written scribbles of yester years" simply because you do not subscribe or understand it?
Is your degree of evolution not meant to be high? Are you not a natural mystic besides being a lightbearer?

your tone sounds very patronizing and arrogant. For a supposedly enlightened fellow, i find it worrying.
Anyway, as a parting note in view of the above, Scientists have no verifiable proof of that few million years you allude to. Your belief in that is largely a matter of faith. How different from me and my "written scribbles of yesteryears" (I see you have a problem with that).

Cheers

I hope you know that it is FREE for Anglican and Catholic Priests to be private members of AMORC? cheesy
While I have no issues with AMORC nor do I care about its teachings and also do not subscribe to the insults and attacks going on here, we need to make a few things clear. That a priest (be he Anglican or Catholic ) is a member does not mean much. For a fact those priests are not Christians.
Let us leave all these semantics aside. There are certain Christian beliefs that are dogma and not up for negotiation. The bible is unequivocal that salvation is found in Christ alone and the fullness of the God head is expressed in Jesus Christ. Any form of self mastery or enlightenment that adds or subtracts from this epicenter of the bible is not Christlike and any one following it cannot be called a Christian. It does not matter if such a person is a Bishop or a pope while seeking some spiritual enlightenment by the side.

AMORC believes in meditation and awakening innate faculties in other to lead a happier, fulfilled life. I am a happy, proud Rosicrucian! cheesy

Well done Lagos State govt.
Not only Linda, all media celebritites should be tagged along and let them pay taxes commensurate with their display of wealth.
Same with pastors and govt officials.
You cannot have a wedding of billions and pay 10k tax. Neither can you drive a car of 10s of millions and pay no tax.
If it was a gift, show the giver and the govt will ensure that the giver has paid commensurate tax.

No sentiments. Maybe when they pay taxes, they will join in holding the govt accountable.

The civil servant must also show possession of a property within the FCT worth the same amount, the judge ordered.
All the accused were also asked to deposit copies of their international passports with the court registrar. They are to also notify the court of any travel arrangement outside the FCT.

Where do they get these sureties from?
Which civil servant makes this much legitimately?

Did you notice that ALL of those who have been named as having shared in the blood money by #Dasuki are Muslims, Christians and even atheists?

Do you realise that ALL of them are Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Ijaw, Fulani and all of the hundreds of ethnic nationalities making up Nigeria?

Have you asked yourself why you didn't hear any shout of marginalisation or oppression when the money was being shared by Mr Donatus #Dasuki?

Let me break it down for you. In that secret place where they make a feast of our commonwealth, nobody is Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Ijaw or worefa. There's no Christian, Muslim or traditionalist when illicit money is to be preyed upon.

No tribe or religion, they belong to one family: the political class and their interests transcends tribe, ethnicity or religion. Money is their paradise and their belly is the only god they worship.

So, next time any of these ediats come screaming that your tribe is being marginalised or that someone is trying to wipe out your religion, tell him to kiss your fat black a*se and enjoy his journey to hell.

If you agree with him and allow them to turn your destiny to a Ludo game, then Sorry is your middle name and you suffer from a terminal disease called 'Congenital Stupidity'. It has no cure and the symptoms don't show very early.

Once you're afflicted with CS, the end result is to die in ignorance while defending the idiots who turned you into a whimpering dodo.

Accept my sympathy

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/efcc-metuh-has-cases-to-answer-says-his-alarm-was-unnecessary/228215/

The alarm raised by the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Olisa Metuh, last Tuesday in Abuja, alleging threat to his life was “unnecessary and an attempt to pre-empt his arrest’’ by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), an operative of the anti-graft agency told THISDAY last night.

“We have been able to established that two of his registered companies were used to launder money to some key members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He has several questions to answer. And we will soon invite him officially for interrogation.

“We believe the alarm he raised on Tuesday was unnecessary and it was an attempt to pre-empt our move. But he has failed. Some of these suspects believe they can use the media to forestall our determination to get them to account for their dirty deals and it would not work for them,’’ the EFCC source stated.

The operative of the EFCC who is deeply involved in the ongoing investigation of many of the suspects linked to the alleged arms deals by the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), further told THISDAY that more of the “key leaders of the PDP, including a member of the party’s board of trustees,’’ would soon be invited for interrogation.

“One or two of them are currently outside the country; we have requested them to come and clarify some issues suspected to be money laundering,’’ the source added.

Metuh, during a news conference last Tuesday, had claimed that his life was under threat by some suspected federal government’s agents.

“Gentlemen, this news briefing is expedient, taken into consideration the times we find ourselves, especially as they relate to me. In the last seven months, as opposition spokesperson, I have been hounded, harassed, intimidated and threatened severally.

• “In order to avoid personal and family pressure, I had refrained from bringing them to the public domain,” Metuh had claimed.

• He alleged that recent events around him and information available to him, had given him cause to believe that some persons in power were out to eliminate him.

• The PDP’s spokesman said he had not taken any public office and that the choice of where, how and when to invest and conduct his personal business remained his prerogative.

Metuh added: “In this regard, I note that I never had any contract dealings with the immediate past federal government or any of its security apparatus. As the National Publicity Secretary of our party, the then leader of our party and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria invited me and directed that I carry out some assignment relating to my office and he funded it.

• “It is important to note that the former president was fully satisfied with the way and manner I handled the assignment. Finally, I reiterate that the present government should not use the apparatus of state power to settle personal scores.’’

He declined answers to questions on some of the issues he raised during the press conference.

Below is the communique sent to MTN staff and share holders.

Herewith a further update on the fine imposed on MTN Nigeria and renewal of cautionary announcement: Further to the SENS announcement issued by the Company on 4 December 2015, shareholders are advised that all factors having a bearing on the matter have been thoroughly and carefully considered including a review of the circumstances leading to the fine and the subsequent letters received from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

MTN Nigeria acting on legal advice has resolved that the manner of the imposition of the fine and the quantum thereof is not in accordance with the NCC’s powers under the Nigerian Communications Act and therefore there are valid grounds upon which to challenge the fine.

Accordingly MTN has followed due process and has instructed its lawyers to proceed with an action in the Federal High Court in Lagos seeking the appropriate reliefs. MTN is advised that in the current circumstances in line with the lis pendens rule (pending legal action) the parties are enjoined to restrain from taking further action until the matter is finally determined. This is consistent with previous judicial decisions in Nigeria.

Notwithstanding this action, the Company will continue to engage with the Nigerian Authorities to try and ensure an amicable resolution in the best interests of the Company, its stakeholders and the Nigerian Authorities Shareholders are therefore advised to continue to exercise caution when dealing in the Company’s securities until a further announcement is made. As advised previously, we will keep you updated as the matter unfolds. I encourage you to continue focusing on our customers and strive to keep our promise to provide the bold, new Digital World to them.

South African telecoms giant MTN said Thursday it would launch a court challenge against the $3.9 billion fine that Nigeria has ordered it to pay by December 31 for failing to disconnect unregistered users.

MTN, in a statement to shareholders today, said it decided to take this route after exhausting all other options to have the fine reduced.

MTN said that “All factors having a bearing on the matter have been thoroughly and carefully considered, including a review of the circumstances leading to the fine and the subsequent letters received from the NCC.”

“MTN Nigeria, acting on legal advice, has resolved that the manner of the imposition of the fine and the quantum thereof is not in accordance with the NCC’s powers under the Nigerian Communications Act and therefore there are valid grounds upon which to challenge the fine.”
