Now that's powerful wink
Beyond powerful. The depth of that song scares me.
It was the best gift I could give to a friend who was widowed recently.

thegoodjoehunt3: What part of every mice and monkey treated survived. The only case of the drug not working was the Spanish Priest. That was due ti the drug beig administered too late. The PRIEST was almost dead.

The Liberian doctors recovering. Will you say it is not the drug? What of the American Female doctors. What of the monkeys.

Please the drug healed him. They are looking for a li to cover the fact they let thousads diie, whilethey had the cure.
You still do not get the part that there is not enough (better still there was not enough) ZMapp to go round?
As we speak,if Obama has Ebola today, there is no Zmapp to give him.
The manufacturers have openly claimed that the left over stock is finished.
Health › Re: American Doctor Treated For Ebola Released From The Hospital by mbulela:
thegoodjoehunt3: Let us stop pretending. Every mice and monkey treated with ZMapp survived.

Dr Kent was dying and when the drug was administered to him, it was described like something from a cinematic thriller. Read this excerpt:
Brantly began to deteriorate and developed labored breathing. He told his doctors he thought he was dying, according to a source with firsthand knowledge of the situation.
Knowing his dose was still frozen, Brantly asked if he could have Writebol's now-thawed medication. It was brought to his room and administered through an IV. Within an hour of receiving the medication, Brantly's condition dramatically improved. He began breathing easier; the rash over his trunk faded away. One of his doctors described the events as "miraculous."
http://edition.cnn.com/2014/08/04/health/experimental-ebola-serum/

So let us stop all this whether it was the drug.
Brantly and Writebol were given an experimental drug called ZMapp. The drug has shown promise in animals, but it hasn't been tested in humans yet. Doctors don't know if ZMapp cured their disease, because there was no control group (meaning, it's possible they could have recovered without the drug). This was also said by their doctors. So,nothing is certain. People have been cured from Ebola without Zmapp,so while it may be the magic bullet we can't blame Zmapp. Besides, as long as the Zmapp that was sent to Africa was not given to monkeys or chimps and lives were saved, all is fine. A Nigerian live is not worth more than a Liberian life.
The painful fact is that there is not enough Zmapp to go round.

bushdoc9919: I concur....

As I told someone else on another thread....we vote them in...then we go home and sit down....forgetting that in a democracy....voting is just one half of the job.The other half is to remind the elected leader why we voted him or her in constantly.....so that s/he would get scared and perform!
I respect your view but it is simply idealistic.
Some people are willing to accept bad governance as long as it is their tribesman in power.
Did you see how many chieftancy titles have been given to Oduah in recent times? You need to pass through the ph airport arrival and departure lounges and you will know why does accolades are ungodly. Experience.the heat at MMIA and you will wonder why a sane person will support that woman.
Do you not think that the state of Apapa - oshodi express o's an impeachable offence on its own? Try mentioning it and you will be reminded that you are persecuting GEJ simply because he is a south south clown and not a yoruba man.
Until we start seeing governance without this myopic, obsolete tribal lens we use,we are a lost cause.

bushdoc9919: There is a reason why Zmapp is limited.......and this article does a good job of explaining it.

Excerpt below...

Also....why should our doctors (or the Liberian doctors )get Zmapp....and not one of the hundreds of sick people
We have been repeating this argument but I wonder why people do not get it or choose to not get it.
Besides, there is even no guarantee that the guy was cured by Zmapp. Ebola does not have 100% fatality, that means some people still recover from it. What if he was just one of them? What of the Nigerians that were discharged without taking Zmapp?

Politics › EXCLUSIVE: APC Considers Osinbajo For VP Slot by mbulela(op): 10:50am On Aug 21, 2014
Former Lagos State commissioner for justice and attorney-general, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, is being “strongly” considered as the vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), TheCable can report. APC has unofficially zoned its presidential ticket to the north but with the candidate most likely to be a Muslim, concern has been raised that the party was moving towards fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket. This was based on the assumption that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a Muslim, was interested in being the vice-presidential candidate. But Tinubu has since dropped his ambition “in the over all interest of APC”, TheCable reported in June 2014. South-west governors that could be considered for the running mate slot are all Muslims. TheCable was informed that Osinbajo has the backing of Tinubu, under whom he served as commissioner from 1999 to 2007. “The idea was first mooted in 2013 when it became obvious that the presidential candidate would come from the north,” a senior member of APC told TheCable. He, however, said “there has been no movement since then”. But TheCable understands that the idea has been revived and, in fact, Osinbajo has quietly started preparing in anticipation of the likelihood of his candidature. With the APC tagged by its opponents as the Nigerian equivalent of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, Osinbajo’s candidature is expected to give significant mileage to the party in the Christian community. The professor of law is a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God ─ one of the largest churches in Nigeria. Osinbajo, who holds a bachelor of law from the University of Lagos and a master’s from the London School of Economics, is highly regarded as an upright man and is a regular speaker at local and international conferences. The senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) co-founded Integrity, the umbrella organisation of the Convention on Business Integrity in Nigeria. He is a scholar and has authored and co-authored several publications, notably The Unification and Reform of The Nigerian Criminal Law and Procedure Codes; Law Development and Administrator; The Anotated Civil Procedure rules of The Supreme Courts in Nigeria and Cross Examination: A Trial Lawyer’s Most Potent Weapon. Osinbajo recently wrote to defend accusations of religious bigotry against Osun Governor Rauf Aregbesola ahead of the governorship election in the state. In an article seen as a veiled foray into the political debate ahead of the 2015 elections, he wrote: “How can we fail to see that the incredible corruption, incompetence, poverty of 2/3 of our people after almost seven years of the present government is unsupportable? How is it that Diezani’s use of 10billion Naira to run her private jet (the same amount of money for the building of 24 mega schools in Osun!) and the complete silence of the President on this travesty does not lead to calling for him to be voted out in 2015? So the allegation of the missing or unaccounted for 20.8 billion USD with 110 million desperately poor, should be dismissed as pure propaganda?” He took a swipe at the ruling party, writing: “So it doesn’t make a difference to us that under the PDP Nigeria has fallen behind in every human development indicator? 55,000 women dying yearly of maternal related ailments, only recently Stanford’s Professor Larry Diamond compared the deaths of over 300,000 children yearly in Nigeria to the killing of 800,000 mainly Tutsis in Rwanda. The latter was described as genocide, what is the description to give to mass deaths of infants caused by grand corruption?” The leading presidential aspirants in APC are Major-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Dr. Bukola Saraki. Speaker of the house of representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, is also expected to defect to APC and declare his interest in the presidential race, TheCable reported on Monday.

People of lagos don't seem to be complaining! They like the supporter of APC style of leadership! What you need to understand is PDP cannot win lagos state any election soon! So what it tell me about GEJ is that he is an intellect. How many Opposition leaders get PHD? His subordinates without he's prior knowledge enticed the GREAT leader of APC by dangling a mere carrot before him! You should be asking YOURSELF what does that say about BAT! Whose has lagos in he's palms yet lagos voted GEJ!

By the way, what does that say about GEJ?

Do not be too sentimental. I am not a fan of Bola. If GEJ had as much proof as you think,he would have hung Bola by the balls long ago. Except he wants him around for purposes of maximizing his loot.
My problem is really not who is corrupt or not (both parties are),my problem is that GEJ is clueless and inept to boo.
That is what worries me more.

Just like I said elsewhere, they are no different to PDP. They are all crooks.
However, we need to give this set of crook a chance because returning the incumbent set of crooks will be akin to rewarding evil and telling them (the barbarians) that we (the people) do not mind their thieving tendencies. If we make the mistake of returning the thieves at the center, the commonwealth will be r.aped to death because we would have given them the unequivocal right and approval to continue as they have started.

The porousness of our border (if you can call it that) is the worrying part.
Health › Ogun State Detain Guinean Travellers by mbulela(op): 4:54pm On Aug 20, 2014
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Olaokun Soyinka, yesterday disclosed that four travellers coming into the country from Guinea through an illegal border area in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State have been detained and were being monitored by the state government in its efforts to prevent the spread of the dreaded Ebola virus.
Guinea was the first country where the virus was detected in West Africa almost six months ago before it spread to neighbouring Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Soyinka, who disclosed this at a press conference in his office in Abeokuta yesterday, said response teams have been put in place at the local government area levels who serve as surveillance teams.

According to him, they had been detained because they could not convince the border authorities that they had not been in contact with patients who had contacted the virus.

He added that the circumstances of their crossing was a bit worrying, "they were told until they could convince the authorities, they have to go back or if they were to come to Nigeria, they have to observe them”.

He explained that the travellers who were coming from Guinea en route Nigeria agreed to be in the area for monitoring for the next 21 days.
"So they are staying there, they are not being quarantined but agreed voluntarily to wait while they are being observed to ensure that they have no symptoms,” he said.

While reassuring residents that the state is free of the virus, Soyinka stated that in addition to further training of the healthcare workers, there was refresher information and further sensitisation at the border areas.

According to him, the state currently has three quarantine and isolation centres in each of the three senatorial districts of the state, and urged the public to cooperate fully with the efforts of the state government in the interest of their health.

He reiterated that the virus could only be contacted through body fluids of an infected person not by just sitting with the person, advising the public to maintain personal hygiene with regular hand washing and the use of sanitisers.

The commissioner further advised that unnecessary physical contact at public gatherings should be avoided, saying: “Do not travel to areas where the epidemic is active, avoid hunting and eating bush meat. If you suspect Ebola, contact the health authorities immediately.”

He said the state government was compiling a list of volunteers who could be called upon for a variety of tasks to alleviate the disease.
