have you given them lasota?
if yes just give them antibiotics together with anticoccidiosis mixed with multivite for 5 days. and watch them.

megadox (antibiotics)
kepcox or anticox (anticoccidiosis)
vitalyte, bio-plus or any preferred multivite
Thank you so much for prompt response.
I've not given Dem lasota yet, I only gave gumboro day before yesterday. Should I give them lasota today?
AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by mbuotidemjames: 10:41pm On Jul 29, 2016
raphemmanuel:
I don't understand exactly what you are saying.
lasota is vaccine given to prevent against Newcastle disease.
you first give lasota before gumboro.
What I'm saying is Dat I gave Dem gumboro first.... My mistake becos no one replied here n a friend told me I should give gumboro before lasota. The main issue here is that my chicks are still sleeping while standing and they are not eating well...thereby affecting their growth. Below are their pictures..
They will just put their heads down like that as if they want to eat and before you know, their eyes are closed. They are too dull.... Please what might be the cause. This is not huddling.....sir, help

sorry for replying late you should have ask this question yesterday.

lasota is given at the 8th
gumboro is given at their 11th or 12th day.

please I beg you don't give those second batch that are not up 8 days for your own good, unless you want to take a risk in that area.

God bless our hustle
Thats how my birds are.... They don't eat well, their legs are dried up.... From this picture, it's lasota that they are stating there. Yesterday made them 9/6 days respectively.....i already administered gumboro to them since I did not get responses again. I hope it wont stunt them. What should I do about the lasota since its shown on the picture..... Quick response please..

AgricultureRe: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by mbuotidemjames: 6:44am On Jul 27, 2016
raphemmanuel:
you mixed first batch and second batch together, now how do you go about their vaccination.
Newcastle vaccine is given at the 8th day, now how do you give only first batch without mistakenly given second batch likewise the gumboro vaccine.

you have made a very big mistake.
if you can separate them kindly do it now.
because vaccine not administered at when due have some deleterious effect.

For the huddling increase the room temperature and just give them broad spectrum antibiotics ( you can go for megadox) with multivitamins.

Hope all will be well...
Can I give Dem lasota or gumboro today which has made Dem 8 n 5 days respectively..... Because I read from some previous post that they do give lasota a day 3/4 n gumboro from 6 days
Please help... My chicks are dried up, Dia buttocks are not enlarged again.

Cold will kill them. Low temperature will make them grow slowly and will make them catch disease easily. Don't joke with the correct temperature. See http://www.farmersjoint.com/blog/livestock-farming/poultry/raising-chicks-things-you-must-do-during-the-first-week/ for more info on how to avoid chick deaths.
Thank you sire!!

Hello farmers...I want to ask this question that has been troubling me for many days now:
(1) Why is a breeding/brooding room of day old chicks to 2weeks heated?
Becos I have 198 birds of about 1 week now I hardly heat up their room and even when I heat it..becos the room is large, its not hot but just so warm..........
(2) does heating after their growing possitively, negatively or it just to keep them from dying of cold. Explain it for me..thankyou

Helo great farmers...
Please I want to ask....anybody dat has reared Amo birds before?
How long does it take to mature?
How do they look?
Because this is my first tike of rearing them and its four(4) weeks now but they look like two weeks and three weeks olds birds....and some look stunted while hairs have grown all over them. I used to put Agrited before and by 4 weeks....they will grow fat and inviting.
Is it normal or is it from the type of feed im using(hybrid)?
Please advice urgently on what I must do to make them grow well....please help me.....i have uploaded their pictures too.

Note: its smaller than how its appearing on the picture.

mbuotidemjames. The reality of nutritional values of feeds is almost always different from what the manufactures claim especially in a country lacking control as ours. Besides, manufactures get their raw materials from different sources & at different prices, hence differences in cost of production/price. Also relevant is the knowledge that there are different formulas for producing similar feeds. My advise will be that you go for the feed which gives you the best result. Success. tunezvic. If you're sure you birds are otherwise in good health & the ventilation, as well as quality/quantity of feed is ok, I'll suggest you give stresoak + multivitamin with vitamin K to counter the heat stress. Success
Thanx man.

I noticed that the protein content in Hybrid feeds are more than that of Amobyn and Top feeds.......but why is top feed still costlier than hybrid when it is the protein that the chicks need to grow?
Can anyone here advise me to use Hybridhuh
Someone should please answer this for me na.

You do not vaccinate sick birds. If they are gasping for breath and sneezing now, then this case is becoming complicated. Farm Tech asked a good question on the source of the birds, some birds from a known hatchery is common with this challenge. you may also to get a vet or expereinced poultry personnel to take a physical look at your birds. Isolate the weak ones, Vitamins wont do any harm.
Thank you so much for you help. The sneezing has reduced as well as d coughin noise....I started opening the door and curtains and removed the heat as u said. They are on vitalye now n feeds are Hybrid super starter. The source of the bird is AMO. I will still be updating you if the symptoms comes higher again. But now....their poop is brownish n pasty....advise please!! Im new to this business

I will advise vitamins especially ones rich in Amino Acids, still ensure there is cross ventilation, avoid/remove excess heat and ammonia build up. Isolate weak ones and ensure they take water. All tge Best, sir.
Thankyou sire for the help and time. But please,i want to ask...with the sneezing, mouth opening breathing...I should give them vitamins. I hop there wont be disadvantages?
Secondly,i am to vaccinate dem wit 1st Gumboro on friday....should I go aheadhuh

Check for ventilation, Ensure there is free flow of air; Reduce the brooding temp and the curtains. Stop the drugs first. All the best.
I have done that now sire...I have opened some windows and curtains for air to pass in freely, what do I give them...vitamins or ordinary water. This is making dem 1week and 1 day and ive admistered the drugs for 5 days now....no improvement.

The feed is okay and agrited birds are good too but anyway, Yes there are different boosters you can mix with their feeds or in their water. Just enter any vet shop and ask. Eg maxigrowth or something like that and you can be giving them multivitamins as well. All the best
Thankyou sire.
Do you know about wheat yeast(feeds for pigs)?. Someone advised me to be mixing in the top feeds for them for optimal weight? Im scared.....wont it affect them?

There are different breeds of broilers, we have the fast growers and we also have those that dont mature to table size until they are 8 weeks or thereabouts. So maybe that's the issue here. Also, which feed are you using? It might be a determinant.
The name of the birds is AGRITED.....thats what I used in the first batch and I started selling them by 5 weeks.
For the feeds....im using TOP FEEDS.
Is there any suggestion of boosters to use to make them grow fast and heavy because they are so light and they resemble our native birds which can eat very well but not growing fast....please help
