I apologize for the long post... So the thing is, I am 22 years old currently in 200 level. My performance is very poor, in fact I'm currently on probation(I'm suppose to be in 300 level by now) and that's not because I'm not intelligent or I'm dull o. it's just that i don't show commitment towards my studies because I've completely lost interest in the course I'm currently studying because of its calculation aspect. I hate calculations a lot. Let me say, I'm more of a theory person. I have tried applying for change of course but i was denied maybe because of my poor performance. My Father doesn't know anything about this. "no issues at all Daddy, my result is good", my response whenever he asked me about my result.

So i have finally decided to apply for withdrawal from my current school to register and sit for jamb again. This time i will apply for a course in a different institution. This course in question is a course I've wanted to study long ago but my current school don't offer it. My friend studies it and I've done research on the course my self. I'm very sure i can do it this time.

Now i don't even know how to approach my father with this. I know I've fvcked up big time. The man will be so so annoyed and disappointed in me but i can't continue like this, i want to get things on track, i want to fix my life and start afresh. Right now I'm just confused and frustrated. Nairalanders, i will need your advice and suggestions. Please what's your take on this?

Don't withdraw yet nor let the cat out to your dad, first thing first buy a Jamb form seat for the desired school and course when you ve secured adminision into the desired course and school, before you can walk up to your dad and open up, explain to him your decision and how committed you're willing to make him proud in the desired course. Instead of withdrawal and sitting back at home and not been sure of a guaranteed admission into your desired course of choice. Don't be in a rush.

I and my girlfriend have been dating for about some years now, we have been good. We have encountered ups and downs but we pulled through. We plan together and execute things together.

Recently, I indicated plans for marriage but my people didn't give consent. They said she isn't my destined partner. According to them, they have prayed, saw in prophesies and visions that she isn't the one...

I happen to speak with one of the prophetess on phone and she repeated what she told them that she is not my wife, that I should pray, that my wife will come.

I am finding it hard believing all these but at the same time I am mindful too. I have been asking myself questions if what they are saying is true. They said I will encounter all kinds of hardship if I continue and many other things the prophetess said.

I see her as God's creation too, why will God allow such happen to me just because I married someone He created too.

I don't believe all these prophesies but at the same time I just want to ask if there could be any truth in this destined partner stuff. Thanks

It depends on who the prophetess is to you. However the decision as to whom to marry depends on you and you alone, as much as I don't support rebellion against parents, what you have to do is to see a way to convince your parents that she is the right person, truely God speak through prophet, however the decision and choice depends on you, prophet are to confirm what God is saying to you, the question is what is God saying to you that's what matters.

Apart from the prophetess, do you have a spiritual father you trust or your fiancee, maybe you can consult him/her to get other perceptive.

I have seen this idea of prophetess seeing evil in the intended fiancee, so tread with caution their prophesy.

Also as regarding destined partner I am yet to see that in the Bible, what the Bible teaches is that "he that findeth a wife" it's your responsibility to seek out a compatible mate, however you can decide to allow God to guide you to your right partner, in that case you have to trust him, and he can speak to you or show you sign. But nobody has the right to tell you whom to marry.

For destined partner I doubt it and scarcely believe it, in the context of one man to one woman you can say suitable or compatible or God's choice as directed by God.

Moreso I have a friend who heard from God, and God directed him to whom he should Marry but the lady refused accepting him, that doesn't mean he didn't hear from God but the lady just refused accepting, and he still moved on and God directed yet to another partner, today they're happily married.

I have seen the above scenario plays out in many cases. I don't believe in destined partner, no place is it found in the Bible however I believe God can direct to a right partner or God's choice.

What you should do, is to authenticate their prophesy and it can only be done through prayer and patience. However you can not take the word of one prophetess and make a life decisions, you need to verify, there most be witnesses from God

First of all, we need to set things in perspective, your argument, is not on whether the Bible frowns on homosexuality but rather on the authority of Paul.

Who is Paul and why should we believe his writings?

Jesus while leaving earth made a prayer to His father: “I pray for them(disciples).... Neither pray I for these alone, but them also which shall believe in me through their word” Kjv john 17:9, 20. Here we see Jesus in a sense accrediting all the testimony/writings of his disciples who he took time to train and gave them a charge to go also and make disciples of men.
So if Christ purely accredit that which his disciples will teach and as well prayed for those who will believe in their word, which is same as when he said, as my father hath sent me in trust that I can deliver, you also having stayed with me and learnt of me, I also send you (john 20:21), however tarry ye in Jerusalem until ye are endued from on high (Luke 24:29), because the assignment is I am giving you is beyond reasoning (as some one pointed that religion is both faith and reasoning) , but it requires power. As paraphrased as the above is ,yet scripture are embedded in it.

So, back to authenticating Paul’s authority on the account that Jesus entrusted the works he began to his disciples, we can believe that which proceeds of the disciples in witnessing Christ; as not just true but also accredited by Jesus himself base on the following:
They were endued by the spirit of God to bear witness, for the spirit can only take what is of Jesus and show them, they in turn showed us as they’ve received of the father

Again the teaching of Paul was once disputed in his days and the days of the disciples (who Jesus have accredited as seen in John's writing), a meeting was called (Acts 13), after which the disciples approved him and gave a hand of fellowship. By which, in context, the authority granted to us( Jesus's disciples), by God through Jesus we, accredit Paul and his teaching.

If we believe in Jesus it is only appropriate that we believe in the testimony of his disciples who by extension extended a hand of fellowship to Paul and approved him.
Peter, Jesus's disciple further gave testimony of Paul’s teaching, saying : 2 Peter 3:15 “… even as our beloved Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him have written unto you; also as in all his epistle, speaking in them of these things; which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as the do also to other scriptures unto their own destruction.”

It is hypocritical to say you believe Jesus’s word and not believe the word of his disciples whom he commissioned to be his ambassador to whom also he gave authority in his name to teach and make disciples, is like saying your(Jesus) authority is not trustworthy, because segregating the teaching of his disciples from is own teaching, is denying the authority that backs their witness and the person, Jesus in general.

More so, Paul’s testimony of himself and his authority is that our Lord Jesus appeared to him, which were with infallible proof and also his account was supported by the action of Ananians the prophet Acts 9.( And by the witness of two a case is established).

Finally God saw and said it’s not good for a man to be alone and he created Eve as a companion for Adam and not 'Steve', when Adam saw Eve, he exclaimed Eve, as the bone of his Bones.

My dear if you say you believe in Jesus's word and not believe in the words of his disciples ( whom he gave authority to speak in his name ) then is either you’re ignorant, or deceived or influenced by demons.

On a lighter note, Jesus speaking to his disciples said, there are many things that I wish to tell you, but you can not bear, but when he the spirit of truth is come he will guide you into all truth, there are many things you might say Jesus didn’t mention, however he gave his spirit to his disciples and its by the spirit, the scripture was written, same spirit which Paul partook of in his conversion.

If you're expecting the university to teach u programing, u on a long trip!

Time don't wait for nobody, one of essential factor considered in labour market screening, is age, don't waste that advantage in abandoning your current course.

Here is my advice complete Bsc in mathematics, while in school improve yourself in programing find what computer language is in higher demand. Learn improve yourself, network with other programmer.

By the time you graduate you have added advantage on your side.

I don't believe for one second that Mark believes in the existence of the Jewish God. The one who forbade Jews from eating pork instead of teaching them how to cook it properly. Who created foreskins to protect the sensitive tips of male organs, but then ordered the Jews to cut them off their newborn babies. Who permitted Jews to enslave foreigners and treat them as property, even though he created all people. Who made women menstruate but then declared that a menstruating woman is unclean, and anyone who touches her - even her husband - is also unclean. Who banished children of single parents and their descendants from entering his temple for 400 years (the 10th generation).

I don't believe that Mark believes in that God. And since he hasn't talked about any other God, I continue to believe that he is an atheist. He may choose to call himself an agnostic, a cultural Jew, or whatever helps Facebook and his family, but that doesn't mean he's not an atheist.
