Nigeria’s 60-year old Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, shocked the world on Thursday evening, when he announced that President Muhammadu Buhari, who is 74 years old, takes him as a brother, and treats him as a son.
Osinbajo, made the statement when he spoke at the Palace of the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumin Usman, during his recent visit to Kano State.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Monday that it was not involved in the negotiation that led to the release of 82 Chibok school girls from armed opposition.
Ms Aleksandra Mosimann, Communication Coordinator, ICRC, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

The President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Olasupo Ayokunle, has called on the Federal Government to prosecute
some herdsmen arrested in connection with recent killings in Southern Kaduna and Benue State, stressing that it should be prepared for war if it failed to act.
He stressed that it is only when the suspects are made to face the wrath of the law that tension that had risen in the two states would reduce.
Ayokunle, who is also the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), warned that failure to stop the unprovoked killings by suspected herdsmen in some parts of the country could spark war in the country.

Policemen in Bauchi state have captured a dreaded Boko Haram leader, one Muhammad Adamu Nafiu, aged 25, of Balanga, Gombe State, at Tama village in Toro LGA of the state.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar yesterday. He said the suspect is a notorious top commander of Boko Haram, who relocated to Tama village in order to evade arrest after the sect was dislodged by troops at Sambisa Forest.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that suspect was among those declared by the Nigerian Army on Serial Number 176 on its wanted list.

"He has voluntarily confessed to have killed over 150 people in Baga LGA of Borno State alone.

"Case under investigation after which suspect would be handed over to the appropriate authority for discreet investigation," he said.

The troubled city of Maidugri has yet again been stuck with the suicide attacks perpetrated by the members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect.

Seven persons were killed in suicide attacks on Saturday evening in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

According to PUNCH, Three suicide bombers and four others, including two children were killed in the attacks. It was also revealed that eight persons sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital.

In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Police, Borno State Command, Victor Isuku, a deputy superintendent of police, the attack happened at about 9pm on Saturday on the outskirts of Maiduguri.

President Muhammadu Buhari, has on Friday, tactically agreed with the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, that age plays a prominent role in governance.
Recall, that Fayose who was the Guest Lecturer at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, World Press Freedom Day, held at the Press Centre, Ibadan, in 2016, raised an alarm that Buhari was too old to govern Nigeria.
“President Buhari is too old to rule this country, and that is why there is problem in this country now. Nigeria should not produce any President that is over 60 years. Younger people should rise and challenge older people. The stealing going on in this present administration, is more than the one during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s period. The men of the Nigeria Police Force in the northern part of the country have apprehended a large number of suspected cattle rustlers.
The Police Command in Niger says it has arrested 104 suspected cattle rustlers and kidnappers in the state between January and February.
The Commissioner of police, Mr Muazu Zubairu, said in Minna on Friday that about 672 animals were recovered from the suspects, according to the Vanguard.
Zubairu said that three AK 47 rifles; 334 rounds of assorted ammunition; one SMG rifle with six rounds of ammunition; 12 single barrel guns; four locally made pistols and one revolver pistol were also recovered from the suspects.

He said the command was committed to total policing of the state to safeguard lives and property.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo has commended the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services for killing Henry Chibueze, alias Vampire, a serial kidnapper in Imo and environs. A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, quoted Okorocha as saying that he had confidence in the security agencies.

A 29-year-old woman identified as Tarisai Musandidaro from Birchenough Bridge in Zimbabwe, has every reason to thank God for being alive and free.
According to The Manica Post, the woman was kidnapped by four unknown people upon boarding their vehicle and was subsequently driven to a bushy area where they wanted to kill her, however, she was saved after a deadly snake bit one of the kidnappers.
Tarisai Musandidaro counts herself lucky following the kidnapping incident that happened recently. She revealed that the incident is nothing short of a miracle.
Although Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa, was not sure about the identity of the creature that attacked the kidnappers, those privy to the case said it was a snake.
“It is said that on the day in question at around 9pm, the complainant boarded a commuter omnibus a Hot Springs travelling to Birchenough Bridge. She disembarked at Chipinge Turn-off along the Mutare-Masvingo Highway and waited for another lift to take her across the bridge.

“She boarded a black sedan car which had four occupants on board. They were three female occupants and a man on the steering wheel. Upon approaching the Redstar Turn-off, the woman told the driver that she had reached her destination. The driver did not stop, but accelerated the vehicle towards Masvingo,” said Insp Kakohwa.

Justice Binta Nyako of Abuja Federal High Court has ruled yesterday that the Indigenous People of BIAFRA, IPOB champion by Nnamdi Kanu is a leorganizationtion

The Judge also struck-out six of the 11-count criminal charge the Federal Government preferred against the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu and three other pro-Biafra agitators.

The Judge, in a ruling delivered by Justice Binta Nyako, also said the fact that IPOB was not an organisation registered in Nigeria did not make it an illegal society. “It may be true that IPOB is not registered in Nigeria, but does that make it an illegal organisation?”, the judge queried.

Justice Nyako held that the Federal Government failed to prove that IPOB, allegedly managed by Kanu and his co-defendants — Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, is an unlawful society.

Justice Nyako said the six charges she struck out were not supported by the proof of evidence the prosecution adduced against the defendants, adding that none of the six charges established a prima-facie criminal case against the defendants.
