I think most people who are able to download and immediately use it are folks who registered for updaate on the roll out on BBM.com. I downloaded it and was able to start using it on my iPhone |
Mine stopped working about 10days ago. It was bliss while it lasted |
Etisalt is good. In fact, it's the best where I stay and in my office too. However, I use hotspot on my blackberry phone to connect the tab to the Internet. Etisalat biS comes with at least 3GB free, so you don't need to waste your money. |
I think a lot of people will warm up to this app from the word GO, and could give Blackberry (Pls, RIM no longer exists!) new momentum in the market. The revenue figure from Whatsapp shows that Blackberry will make lotta money from this important move they're making. The next step, in my opinion, is to slash their Blackberry phone prices. I planned selling my Blackberry as soon as BBM is released to Android and iOS devices since I use an iPhone 4s. But then something happened last week that made me change my mind. Before now I used to buy 1.5GB etisalat data at N4,000 on my iPhone. I use it for less than 3 weeks. I also do N1,500 MTN BIS on my Bold 5. That's about N6,000 every month. But last week, based on someone's prompting, i switched to Etisalat BIS on my BB. I did N1,000 BBC and it comes with 3GB. Now I set up the Bold 5 hotspot feature and connect my iPhone and sometimes laptop to it, all for N1,000. It makes so much sense that I wonder what I'd been thinking all these months. I think people should try that out too. I hear Airtel BIS also works well that way. I couldn't use the hotspot service with my MTN BIS because even though I can connect my iPhone to it, i could do absolutey nothing with the connection. I couldn't even google! |
Someone asked if a keyboard works with this device. The answer is YES. A mouse works with it too, in case you were wondering. I haven't found a compatible stylus pen |
While the above pointless arguments went on, I brought out my N9, listened to some songs, browsed the Internet, checked my mails and did some reading. It doesn't matter what people say, most people find this device perfect for their everyday usages. |
bajovics: PLEASE THIS GOES TO THE USERS OF TECNO N9 PAD.The answer to all your questions is NO. However? It's a very good device. |
Apart from all these improvement in specs over the Note 2, which are massive, what innovation does this new device being? You know, something (a feature) not in the Note 2. Someone who might be interested wants to know. |
femiayo: pls enlighten me what do u mn by otg cable I nd to knowAn OTG cable allows you to connect USb-enabled accessories to your Tab. The list of accessories includes Mouse, External keyboard etc |
One of the most basic marketing strategies is to know your market. That is what the likes of Tecno, Xiaomi etc have mastered and are using to their own advantage. I don't think I need to expatiate that. |
I said this somewhere before that GEJ, during his recent official visit to China, should have arranged a direct meeting with top Chinese phone makers to come set up their companies here. But I guess that is a matter for another day. But talking about Tecno, I read somewhere that Tecno is owned by a Chinese company that set up a pseudo-company with a different name to market its product for the Nigerian market. The person suggested that it was a business decision that was meant to reduce taxes paid in china. I don't know much about this to be honest, but I know for a fact that some companies do similar stuff for economic purposes. We know of countries who set up branches in tax havens for the same purpose. Maybe that's why you won't see the name of Tecno in china. And it sorta makes sense because even when you google their name, you don't see anything in china. Even the smallest companies in china have functional websites. |
I'm a sucker for cheap, quality smartphones that give users good-enough specs and performance without leaving a hole in the pocket. I absolutely believe in the very near future there will be increased demand for budget smartphones and high-end manufacturers like Samsung, Apple, HTC etc will be forced to bring down prices. If you are one of those who hate anything Chinese and make lot of noise about Samsung/Apple, maybe you should stop reading and move to other threads. Well, there is news from China. Xiaomi‘s flagship smartphone, the Mi 2S, is the most popular phone in China, according to Chinese benchmarking company, Antutu. According to Antutu’s data on “active device volumes”, the Mi 2S was the most popular phone bought by Chinese users in the first half of this year, followed by Samsung’s latest S4 device. The Mi 2S is the successor to Xiaomi’s popular Mi 2 smartphone, which sold 7.19 million units in 2012. The Mi 2S was just released in April, at about the same time as the S4. slinkman: ur an ediott for calling in d first place...You called someone an i-diot just because of that? |
Onosy: I have this feeling that Tecno will release another Tab soonest...Dont know when exact, but with android 4.3 on the block, something gonna come up soon.....I think so too. And based on my experience with the N9, if they bring another tab running on Android 4.3 I'll likely buy too. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that it's going to be another great product. And of course cheap too (*wink*). Everyone who has handled my N9, including colleagues using far more expensive tabs, has had only good things to say about it. I'm sure Tecno won't be the only ones to take advantage of the Android 4.3 as other manufacturers will be keen to produce phones that is customised to run on 4.3 |
Lord_Reed: Confirmed, OTG cable worked on this tablet. So you were a doubting Thomas? Well, better late than never. (I even tried it with a wireless mouse!). Did you also try our an external keyboard? It works too. The only thing remaining now is the Stylus pen which KLENS claim is possible with the stylus pens he sells. |
I've refrained from using any negative words, so far, but some of you guys here are damnright pathetic. Gosh! |
Proffdada: The stupid pad has half of phantom pad specs, guy you miss road big time.LWKMD |
I don't understand why people want this thread deleted. Mod(s), Care to share the rules and what can lead to a thread's deletion? Thanks. |
runzlord: i agrees its quad-core. But its dual sim guy! What do you intend to gain by this campaign of calumny against this device? People who are using this device (including me) say this device has only one SIM, but you keep insisting it's dual. Those of us who have used it for more than a week say it runs very smoothly, but you say it lags. Maybe there's another Tab N9 made by Tecno which only you have access to. The other time someone created an account ostensibly to post lies about this same device, but a careful look at his profile revealed his true identity. I've seen such nonsense on this thread. I have no issue with people critiquing the device a long as it's fair and unbiased. What I've seen so far is mightily disappointing and ridicules any other posts by such person elsewhere. |
henchyk: Seriously, a lot of you are petty, childish, and just plain naive. Since when did owning an iPhone or a Samsung galaxy S4 become an evidence than a person is wealthy? Anybody can starve themselves for 3 months to buy an iPhone. Like please, what is your point? Why are you lot angry that tecno have started producing quite affordable phones that can do at least 80% if not more of what phones from other high-end brands can do?I completely agree with most of this, except for some choice of words. I won't say more, but some people are going to start calling you names shortly. Be prepared. |
Lord_Reed: And is only in Africa the high end phones are expensive abi? You are the one who needs more research.LOL. But I do believe over the next two years Samsung and Apple are going to focus more on reducing the prices of their phones. It's only a matter of time before the main Chinese phone makers begin to have more presence in many other countries. |
harden: Plz cn u gve me ur own personal review of d foneBros, with all due respect, at this rate you're not going to buy this phone or any phone for that matter. You've been asking lots of questions all day and I believe there have been ample answers given to your questions. Make up your mind and get the one that suits your need and pocket. If you need any help, there are people on this thread and several others who are willing and able to help out. I hope I didn't come out as rude, but you need to make up your mind else you'll start getting responses that will confuse you. |
bigsam.bigsam:LOL. That's why I've always said if you have to buy a "Chinko", at least buy one you're a bit sure of. |
I'm sure one day I'm going to have some complaints about this tab, but so far (just a week) I've got absolutely no complaint whatsoever. The only thing I'm looking for is a stylus pen to work with it. |
itunujohnsin: I bought this tab it is useless i gave it way it over heated to the point that it burnt the back and the touch screen to dey scratch oh dis is a bad one it is terible just like n3It SucksOn first look, I was shocked to see the first real complaint by an owner of this tab and I was going to recommend you go to their customer care centre. But something about your post was funny, so I decided to check your profile. I discovered that you only registered with Nairaland 30 minutes ago. I can only assume that you're someone who just wants to stir up negativity about this tab. I think the Moderators should investigate this. The length to which some people can go to discredit a brand is really amazing. |

BlackBerry is rumored to be releasing its latest flagship, the Z30 later this year. The phone has already been revealed in official renders before and now there are leaked images that showcase how big the device is next to the Z10 and the Q5 (see below). The BlackBerry Z30 looks like it will feature a similar design as the Z10 in a slightly bigger form factor. The Z30 is touted to come with a 5-inch 720p OLED screen along with a Qualcomm chipset that contains a dual-core 1.7GHz Krait CPU, 2GB of RAM and a quad-core Adreno GPU. The BlackBerry Z30 will likely come with the upcoming BlackBerry OS 10.2, which includes new additions like Wi-Fi Direct support. BlackBerry OS 10.2 would also feature a new quick settings panel that will be accessible by a swipe down gesture, similar to Android’s notification center. BlackBerry OS 10.2 is going to be rolled out to devices later this year. Read more on Gsm Arena.

Whitebarry: Guys I just got my tecno N9. Which data plan is the best to use so that I can start to be enjoying it as u guys are doing. It depends on your location more than anything. Etisalat is the best where I live, so I use etisalat. You can also share data via wifi/hotspot |
I read this somewhere and I liked it http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/apple/10226145/The-apps-that-Apple-does-not-want-you-to-use.html |
