Kenai: If fuel subsidies have been removed, then it is not the business of any goddamned government how these people choose to sell their PMS. Government money no dey am, so why the hell should government still dictate to them on how to sell their own products? Free market prices are determined by competitive forces as well as demand and supply, not some primitive socialists regulating from the center. If the price of PMS sold at a gas station is unfavorable, leave it to the CUSTOMERS to decide by going to a station that sells less. Low patronage alone would make them adjust immediately. Simple and short.
This whole "Subsidy is gone but you must sell at so and so price" nonsense is nothing but an ill-conceived policy sommersault by a primitive mind with zero economic sense or even the most rudimentary comprehension of demand-and-supply dynamics. Now the question is; from which depot do Marketers in IMo buy their PMS? Is it not the same depot where lagos marketers get theirs? They should stop fooling themselves. |

macdanpets: Source: http://www.newspunch.org/dasukigate-chief-falae-confesses-he-got-n100m-states-why-and-how/
Chief Olu Falae, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Presidential Candidate to the defunct Alliance for Democracy, AD has confessed he got the sum of N100 million from the former Peoples Democratic Party BoT Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih during the last year presidential election, the fund, which was originally to procure arms for the Nigerian armed forces to combat insurgency in the northeastern part of the nation.
According to New Telegraph, Falae said the money was purely an interparty affair between the PDP and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), which he is the National Chairman. The former presidential candidate said the money was given to the SDP to effectively campaign for the PDP in the 2015 presidential election. According to him, in the build up to the 2015 general elections, the PDP and SDP entered into working agreement. His words: “In the build-up to the presidential election, the PDP approached the SDP which I chaired. The then ruling party solicited for our support in order for President Goodluck Jonathan to win the March 28 presidential election. “Anenih related with me as the chairman of the PDP BoT and I did same as the SDP National Chairman. He wrote to me as PDP BoT chairman and I wrote back as SDP National Chairman stating conditions/terms for the alliance.
I have the record. “It is true that N100 million was given to my party to endorse and work for the Jonathan’s candidature in the 2015 election. We used the money for that purpose and we effectively campaigned for the PDP since we did not have presidential candidate in the election. The money was not for me.
“Thank God I’m a retired civil servant. I have all the documents to prove all that transpired between the two parties.” The former Finance Minister stated that there was no way he could know that the money was from arms fund. “With all the money PDP has and having spent 16 years in power, how would I know that the money was from the arms deal? No reference was made to the arms deal. So, they should not bring me into the arms issue.
The relationship was purely interparty affairs,” Falae told New Telegraph. New Telegraph exclusively reported that Anenih, in his letter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), stated that the former SGF and ex-governor’s groups were given N100 million each in the build up to the 2015 presidential election.
Chief Tony Anenih in a letter to the EFCC had named some PDP bigwigs, other who benefitted from the sum of N260 million he allegedly got from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (Rtd). Anenih said all the monies he spent was N441 million, which is above the money he was actually given.

DiademSh07: Do you know the meaning of the word 'reinstate', which brings me back to when your foolish self failed to interpret the word 'Akin'! You are such a dumbo! Akintola first became the premier in the year 1960, which was the time Awolowo told Balewa to create the midwest before 1962! You can see why no one takes you serious! Haba, you don't know what 'reinstate' means! LOL! That being said, no one elected Zik in the West! As a matter of fact, Zik has never attained any post with such thing like electoral votes! I guess what you mean is that he ascended as the leader of NCNC group after Herbart Macauly, the Yoruba leader of the said group died! Zik was to contest with the said group (NCNC) whose opposition is the AG group with Awolowo! Hence, who would blame the West for choosing, her man, Awolowo over a. self entitled greedy eediot who's running for the leader of the Western region while his people in the eastern region allowed no such in their midst! By the way, you are such a clown! A real one! Go and ask your father the meaning of operation CROSS CARPET and when such slang came into Nigerian politics and by which tribe. |

Tequilah: Guy, I have read the article, o! I did not see anywhere where the writer said anything bad or contrary to the good relationship that exists between the Mid-West and the Yoruba. In fact, he spent more time highlighting various relationships between major figures of different ethnic groups, and the different roles played by various individuals in the formation of the regions and subsequently, state creation.
For instance, Chief Enahoro opposed the creation of old Mid-West region because he did not want to be a big fish in a small pond, but later turned round to actively support the creation of old Bendel State! Thanks for taking out time to read the article, so what can you tell us about this particular paragraph of the article: I WAS INVOLVED AS APARTISAN POLITICIAN I am hesitating to write about the story of the creation of Midwest or Edo State, for another reason. I was an active partisan politician at the University of Ibadan opposed to both the NCNC and the AG, the two popular political parties in the two provinces of Benin and Delta. I was also a political science student at the University of Ibadan with a knack for the drama in the Western Region and its impact on the politics of 1964 Federal Elections. It is simplistic to label the NCNC as pro-Midwestern Region from the abundance of the goodwill of the Igbo or their leader, Dr.Nnamdi Azikiwe. It is also simplistic to label the AG as against the new Region from the wickedness of the Yoruba and their leader, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Maybe we should ask few questions: What was so special about Midwest that was absent in the Calabar-Ogoja-River State? Why should the NCNC support the creation of a Region in the West and not in the East and in the North? How many of us appreciate the strategic decision of the NPC to go southwards in 1962 during the intra-party crisis in Action Group in the Western Region? How many of us appreciate the impact of the monumental crisis in Yoruba land in 1962 on the creation of the new Region? How many of us appreciate the bond between Chief FS Okotie-Eboh and Alhaji Muhammadu Ribadu? How many of us appreciate that this bond more critical than what the NCNC appreciated to the creation of the Region? How many of us knew of the relationship between Apostle John Edokpolor and the Sardauna of Sokoto? How many of us knew how that impacted on the creation of the Midwestern Region? How many of us knew why Apostle John Edokpolor was made one of the Commissioners during the Interim Administration of the new Region? |

TonyeBarcanista: As usual, you cry more than the bereaved. The Odi incident was a condemnable event as soldiers killed a whole community to avenge the killing of police and military operatives by some criminals in Odi. Same replayed in Ziki Biam, Benue state in 2001. But we've MOVED ON! In fact, Bayelsa state gave Obj 90% in 2003... And Obj replicated the favour by giving us VP and President in 2007 and 2011 respectively. Again, why are you pained?
As for Midwest, I don't know why you are still convulsing. Now I see how knowledgeable you are,as you can see i stopped commenting here for sometime now cos i hate when one hide under another name claiming what his not, anyway I don't blame you the end will justify the means..we are whiter than white..Finally Shame on you.. |

TonyeBarcanista: Yar'adua's death didn't give GEJ's ticket in 2011... Obasanjo's influence did. Did Yar'adua death negotiate and convinced PDP northern delegate? If Obasanjo hadn't used his structure, do you think GEJ would have even emerged runner-up in the primary? Does GEJ have political strength as at then(even now) like Atiku and IBB?
Give credit to whom it is due and glory to God. Even the VP slot was through Obasanjo! There's no point barking OBJ did absolutely nothing it was how God wanted and for the ijaws to learn..was he not the same OBJ that finished Odi people of Bayalsa?
