Imagine so many foolish Igbos actually believe they can insult Nigerians into submission for the presidency and Biafra. I mean how foolish can the majority of a tribe be ? Politics › Re: A Ballanced Opinion About Biafra Secession Out Of Nigeria. by Mckennedy: 12:36am On Nov 13, 2015 |
Swiftboy: I am for one Nigeria, however we should restructure the country for real. Let City, state or region have autonomy...just like the United States Of America. The government at the central to help out the extremely poor states. Its that simple. Here read a comment from one of my friends please open your minds to read... There are two sides to a coin and knowing me, I like to look at everybody's point of view. The problem with us Nigerians including me and you is that we fail to acknowledge the truth, hence we make do with half truths and lies. It's so bad that we even lie to ourselves. Several times in the past, the Ibos have been tagged arrogant, boastful and domineering especially when they claim to own 50 to 60 percent of businesses and properties all over Nigeria including major cities like Lagos, Abuja, Kano etc. Owners of those states ardently deny those statements. So it is surprising that the same people are now claiming that the Ibos own 60 to 70 percent of businesses and properties in their states and as such cannot abandon those ventures to go and create a new country. Which one should we believe? I keep saying that the only thing that will keep Nigeria as one is the restructuring of Nigeria in line with Fiscal Federalism and Regional autonomy. Anything short of this, Nigeria will eventually go, maybe in 2 years time, maybe in 20. Nigeria runs the worst structure of government in the world. Even Obama will flounder as long as he rules under this structure. It is unfortunate that we don't want to support restructuring because it will require sacrifices from all of us. Anything achievable must come with a price. If Biafra must come with a price, One Nigeria must also come with a price. While the Biafran agitators seem to be more ready to pay the price of their beliefs and struggle by laying down their lives in protests, the proponents of One Nigeria don't want to sacrifice anything to keep Nigeria one. The solution to our problem is quite simple. Let's support the restructuring of Nigeria in line with Fiscal Federalism and see if you will hear ''Bia'' let alone ''fra''. Let's treat everyone fairly and equally. Without this, no amount of shouting or threats or insults will ever convince the members of this country to become one. I tell people that our problems are very easy to solve. Do you want to stop bribery when processing your International passport/custom duties/driver's license etc? Make the payment system completely online just like when applying for foreign visas. Do you want true electoral reforms that will weed out underage voting/missing pvc/multiple voting/rigging etc? Then create an INEC database and do real biometric voting. Corruption and impunity? Create real separation of power. We all know what to do. We choose not to do it. We insult and cast aspersions on everyone who doesn't agree with our point of view while failing miserably to see the views of others. George Elliot said, "It is a narrow mind which cannot look at a subject from various points of view." Make we dey here dey argue whether Biafra go come or not. Or whether One Nigeria is feasible or not. But one thing is for sure. Either the system changes or it breaks apart. and I ask, what happened to the reports of your concluded national conference? |

How do we know that this was not a crowd going home after a sporting event and few people decide to produce Biafra flags and take photos?

Is that not calling for violence?.. Study the history of the Rwandan genocide and how radio messages eventually contributed to the carnage
Since the civil war, Igbos have occupied all major positions in Nigeria apart from presidency. Top ministerial positions, vice president, Military chiefs etc... In every part of Nigeria, Igbos run their businesses successfully. They intermarry and have children with other tribes.
Achieving the presidency means you have to form alliances with other regions.... With a good political strategy, it is possible.
I come from a relatively smaller tribe and we have not achieved as much as the igbos from the federal government in that regard.
That said, A biafra locked within Nigeria would be dependent on Nigeria.. It is like Lesotho locked in south Africa.. The same Nigeria, you call a zoo.. Politics › Re: Biafra - A Call For The Ijaw Nation To Stand Up For Truth. by Mckennedy: 8:15pm On Nov 12, 2015 |
bolanto24: I am an Ijaw from Odi town in Kolokuma/Opokuma L.G.A of Bayelsa State.
In recent times, the polity is filled with demonstrations/protests from the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in the South East and Some South - South States due to the arrest and detention of their leader Nnamdi Kanu by the F.G. Some supposedly "proud Nigerians" have capped it as an opposition sponsored protests cos of the lost elections of the PDP, which is nothing but ridiculous and preposterous. It is a fact there has always been a pro-biafra movement from the regime of OBJ to GEJ.
Now my main aim of putting the piece together is to call on the Ijaw Nation to stand up and take the side of truth. The side of truth against injustice. The side of truth for equity and fairness. The side of truth that there are many voices against the present structure/system in the country.
While the Ijaw Nation as arguably the fourth largest tribe in the country have contributed immensely to the Nigerian state, we are been bedeviled with youth restiveness, marginalization, under development and continuous suffering of our people for God knows how long.
Can we continue to tell ourselves that all is well when it is not? For how long shall we continue to live like this? For how long shall we endure the pains and sufferings of our people due to the silent treatment the Federal government has given to the supposedly "minorities"? Why do we fake our unity? Of what gain is one Nigeria? So that the born to rule over-populated North will continue to marginalize, oppress and feed fat on the God given resources of the supposedly " minorities "?
Why has the Buhari government dumbed the Confab 2014 report? Does it not favor the North? Implementing it is a step closer in addressing the yearnings and agitations in the country. I think it's time we the South should occupy Nigeria and protest for the implementation of that report. It is paramount for Peace, Unity and Development of the country.
The Ijaw Nation and other Nationalities in the Niger Delta have asked for resource control, fiscal federalism, or regionalism by ethnicity for ages now, but what have we got? A mere 13% derivation. The Ijaw Nation have asked for the de-balkanization and creation of 3 Ijaw states but we only got 1 in 1996, thereby making many Ijaws as minorities in those states they find themselves.
Taking the side of truth and standing with our Igbo brothers will send a message to the FG that there are discontented views and opinions in the creeks that more and more Niger Deltans are beginning to buy the idea of self rule/determination. The Ijaw Nation should stand with our Igbo brothers through thick and thin. We should not do the same mistake our fathers did in 1967 by siding with the FG. It was a big mistake. If we stood with them then, only God knows how far we would have come now.
The Ijaw National Congress (INC), Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), or the Ijaw Republican Assembly (IRA) should issue a a statement condemning the act of violence and intimidation meted on the protesters by the authorities, and Nnamdi Kanu should be released unconditionally.
There is a saying that " the oppressed will continue to be oppressed only to the extent the oppressed allow the oppressor". If you keep quiet when you see oppression, you have taken the side of the oppressor. Evil thrives only when good men decide to keep quiet. The truth remains Ijaws adopted the idea of igbos are their problems from yoruba media propagandist, forgetting that same people telling you that igbos are your problem are the enemies of ijaw nation , for an instant we saw what happened at Odi "Bayalsa State" during Obasonjo, we also saw how ken saro-wiwa was hanged along nine others for agitating for the freedom of Ogoni land come to think of it how many ijaws here can tell me how many times igbos has taking war to ijaws nation? or stolen from the ijaws nation ? i know some ppl will come here to talk igbos are land grabbers "yes" but mind you if one bought a piece of land from you, that is called business you sold your land for good money to solve your problem and money paid and recounted paid. igbos and ijaws should know that these ppl sowed this seed of discord between the ijaw and igbos to enhance them to archive their looting aim while the ijaws and igbos are busy fighting each other. |

Report reaching our news desk reveals that some group of rivers state indigenes have attacked pro biafran igbos while on their said peaceful rally in Bori camp axis of Port harcourt which lead to the death of two pro biafran igbos.
It should be recall that after a pro biafran rally in port harcourt some few weeks ago, the rivers state governor, Gov Nyesom Wike had vow not allow any pro biafra rally/protest in any part of rivers state again. The Ikwerre Youth Movement,South south liberation movement, had also warn against any futher pro biafran rally in Port harcourt and other parts of niger delta.
All these seems to have fell on deaf ears as the pro biafran igbos residing in port harcourt took to the streets with their placards chanting free Nnamdi kalu, free biafra.

On Monday, October 26, Ejiofor was awarded the Commander of the British Empire title by Prince William at the Buckingham palace in London, this is the second time he will be honoured by British Empire. Ejiofor was dressed to impress in a grey suit and black brogues for the all-important moment, looking dapper in his smart attire. It will be recalled that in 2008, Ejiofor was honoured by the British Royal family with the title of the Order of the British Empire. The Nigerian-British actor was honoured based on his contributions and services to the make-believe industry.
