Poems For ReviewBurnt Bridges by McPizzle(op): 11:02am On Mar 17, 2025
Oh life, great and wonderful, vicissitude as ocean tide

Kith and kin sworn to fealty may change with passing time

Time and chance conjures such absurdities that breaks the heart

There goes another part of your heart like a company moribund

Tears won't fall but the pain will endure as

Frodo's wound on weathertop

My dear melancholy,

My fountain from whence pensive and beautiful muse flows

Need I embrace you to grasp the fullness of your wonder

Or recluse from you and perceived ambience of gloom

Truly it gets dark and cold and a wisp of frost doth truly send shivers down my spine

If you stare in the dark for so long it truly stares back at you

Once was told I look like it’s about to rain

Reflecting has made me value laughter much more

May nothing wipe that smile and smirk off of your face

It gets sunny on the other side.

PoliticsMy View On African Politics by McPizzle(op): 10:39am On Nov 17, 2021
It is safe to say Africans are not well developed for the western concept of State building! Pardon if you don’t see things that way but I am not sorry for thinking such. I look at all the African states with the exception of north African countries and I see weak nations whose leaders are never proactive in trying to better the lives of their citizens. Save for the long standing white influence in South Africa, the country might as well be a shit hole, I trust you remember the recent looting sprey, most African countries for all our differences aren’t so different from each other. Africans generally like to learn from experience and our experiences are scant, our written history is as a suckling child compared to the aged history of Europe and America. To pursue after greater things and elevate ourselves above these yearnings for basic amenities unto building a great nation, we must be deliberate, it is better to learn through conscious informed thinking than to learn through the experience we would rather not have which already we are reeling from, to think of more lurking monsters. Nations abound around us to learn from but we should look inward with a conscious mind at rectifying the ills that abound in our societies through careful and strategic planning, the way things seem to be going it’s safe to say we are just passing through the times. If there was such a thing as nation building amongst our politicians, corruption would have been stamped out or at the very least it wouldn’t be a Devourer of our little gains. It is time Africans rose to control the narrative. Herein lies our contention how to get on this track.

Nigercity:
All this Lagos Ibadan express news self
I grew up and still in Lagos
I have visited most of the state mentioned and the truth is
Lagos has more bad roads than all Nigeria state combined,
If truly you grew up in Lagos then you should know the peculiarities facing Lagos, if Portharcourt were to face half, it would have been ungovernable! Lagos has bad roads true but then which state doesn't in Nigeria? If you were to look past your apparent bias you'd notice the reason stated in the article was the apapa gridlock and the endless traffic experienced in Lagos, i can safely say the article was partly written to undermine the strides made by the government in the state.

Grow the light beckons on you

As the plants elate on its sighting

The dark is stifling

It has long endured

So the light beckons, grow!

At the scent of water be invigorated

It is innate though resource dwindling

Hang on for dear life it shall pass

As the dark will surely usher in a new day

Let the light be food for your growth

Do you not know of the shade of your leaves

First, the satisfaction of your fruits

Then, the pleasure of its ripeness

Sweet succour for the ailing traveller

Oasis in a growing desert

I bid you grow!

Quite a journey lies ahead to fulfilling destiny

Grow!!!

Christianity EtcRe: The Christian Chatbox ( sticky) by McPizzle(m): 10:39am On May 05, 2020
I had a dream a few days ago, I don't quite remember some details but some things were pretty clear, I think I was making some business plans going about in the city then I looked up in the sky and beheld a terrifying sight, a gigantic bird flying towards the city closely followed by a winged tiger in the air, I was terrified as a great fear fell on me, the like of which I have never felt before and in that dream I remember saying to myself the end is upon us.

Dude you dey yarn dust! And that's an African forest buffalo which is different from the cape buffalo but both are species endemic to Africa

CultureThe Mysterious Link Between Ancient Egyptian Language And Yoruba by McPizzle(op): 5:11pm On Feb 18, 2020
I was subscribed to academia.edu being an alumnus of unilag, on one of my random web surfing I found a document that essentially links ancient old Egyptian to theYoruba language. The ancient scripts were obviously written in hieroglyphic forms, sustained efforts have helped archaeologists and linguists to vocalize these hieroglyphs and its amazing how there's a link between the two, I'm especially astounded because this link was drawn on linguistic grounds, the research links ancient pharaonic Egyptian with Yoruba and Mbochi (bantu) languages an the following grounds
1. They are cognate on the basis of regular sound correspondences
2. Lexical correspondences by alveolar liquid /r/ initial
3. Lexical correspondences by unvoiced
alveolar fricative /s/ initial

For those who would love to see the body of work because this post doesn't do justice to subject, please google 'Ancient Egyptian and Modern Yoruba: phonetic regularity' by Theophile Obenga for full script.

PoliticsRe: Bayelsa: In Defence Of Justice Mary Odili by McPizzle(m): 3:07pm On Feb 18, 2020
It can be argued that she doesn't have sufficient interest in those states! Given her husband's ties with PDP and Rivers state with Bayelsa, I'm surprised she didn't recluse herself from the case. But I blame APC's counsel for not raising a point of likelihood of bias.
PoliticsRe: Osun Government Splashes N260M On Cars For Lawmakers, Despite Owing Pensioners by McPizzle(m): 2:51pm On Feb 18, 2020
Some people will just read headline meant to inflame you without recourse to the whole article, without sentiments do we really have to make an issue out of anything? Which state government doesn't buy vehicles for its lawmakers in Nigeria? And just so you know I can beat my chest that the last and present administration in Osun is doing outstandingly well for the development of the state, both in infrastructure and education, I stay in the wealthier Ogun state and it can't hold a candle to the government projects in Osun. I'm less familiar with the North but the SE and SS are pretty much disappointing in terms of development. If indeed you read the script you'd see them acknowledging that there's a backlog to clear but they are doing their best.
PoliticsRe: Protesters Storm Justice Mary Odili’s Private Residence In Abuja by McPizzle(m): 2:31pm On Feb 18, 2020
I blame the APC for the mess in Bayelsa, I remember when Atiku's case was still in court he pleaded likelihood of bias against a female judge whose husband is an APC party-member, she chooses to recluse herself. If Justice Odili was a part of the Judges presiding over this case why didn't they seek an objection to her being on the bench on the bases of likelihood of bias so that she would be mandated to recluse herself, especially considering the part she played in the emergence of Wike as the governor of River's I'm genuinely lost as regards this.

I read zakzaky's Wikipedia and he's lost almost all his children in clashes and violent protests. It was stated there that his ultimate aim is to create an Islamic republic in Nigeria. I was thinking a while back that what has this guy done to the federal government to deserve such persecution considering he's a Muslim, little do I know that their aim is to disrupt the country through clandestine operations and to impose their religion on everyone else. The FG knows more than the people clamouring for his release.
Car TalkRe: Japanese Engine Versus German Engine, Which Last Longer? by McPizzle(m): 1:50pm On Feb 17, 2020
If you check reliability ratings for car brands, you'd find Lexus and Toyota atop the rankings. The Japanese are quite meticulous and their quality control measures is second to none in the industry. Topgear tested a Toyota truck decades back putting it through conditions a vehicle isn't meant to survive and it came out fine. It can be argued Honda even makes better engines than Toyota but on a whole Toyota is more reliable. German vehicles are basically luxury cars, they last alright but they don't come close in terms of reliability and they cost a fortune to maintain with those complicated engineering pieces they have on their vehicles, that is the reason in most western countries German cars are mostly leased because they rarely drive into 200k miles before developing serious issues. but if you need an everyday use car, most go for the Toyotas and Hondas On a whole, German = Fancy, Japanese = Sturdy.
FamilyRe: My Cousin Is Addicted To Weed, Drugs by McPizzle(m): 3:09pm On Feb 10, 2020
JJAbrams:
Hello Nairalanders. I am a regular here as a reader but not much as a writer. However some issues just came up and I will appreciate your advise on how to go by this towards a solution.

I am a single guy. 28 years old of age, should have married last year but relationship ended. I stay in my 3-Bedroom apartment alone. I don't have much friends and I don't enjoy the idea of people staying with me. But I broke this rule for a close cousin who is like a brother to me. For a year now he has been staying with me.

This guy is nice, no negative vices like stealing or womanizing. However I noticed he takes quite some small bottle local drinks like Orijin and some unbranded ones. I dont believe in advising a grown man so I just tell him to take it easy sometimes and joke about it. By the way, he is 24 years old. 6 months after he began staying with me, he lost his job. I thought he would go back home and be staying but he kept staying with me. So he would be at home 24/7 eat my food and not even contribute and this began getting irritating to me. But I kept cool. A month after that, one of my neighbors called me and told me, she doesn't want to report to the landlord but the weed smoking has to stop. I was surprised but she said she knows it is not me neither is she accusing but I should do something about it she has kids shes raising. Then I confronted my cousin, he denied it and when I pushed, he began getting angry and aggressive. I then took calm, I had passed my message, so even if he does it he doesn't smoke in the house ever again. Lately, I have been observing in this guy's character that he has not been serious on getting a job. His dressing is becoming haggard and he borrows from me but never pays back.

Recently I got to meet this nice chic who comes and stays the weekend. So last Saturday morning, as I went to the gym she decided to do an indoor environmental of my house. When I got back the house was squeaky clean, she cleaned all the rooms. All but some paper wraps and a transparent pack of weed on the table. She accused me of being the user when I told her it only had to be my cousin who wasnt around that day. I now went into the room I let to this guy, scanned through places he could hide more wraps so I can use as evidence so it stops it until I saw a transparent pipe with a burnt end. As in those pipes used for titration in secondary school chemistry. . I was like do they use this for weed too, then the babe immediately shouted "chai, this one na serious case oo". Na for cocaine o. She then corrected herself that its for crystal meth. She worked with NDLEA during her youth service and was enlightened on this. So that is how she sat me down and told me how addictive this stuff is.

After she enlightened me, I further investigated on this and even the side-effects now began giving a perfect explanation to the irresponsible lifestyle and the least concern for his appearance. I heard it is a critical issue and taking this substance regularly can permanently affect his brains. He should be coming back from Abraka in a week's time. This guy is family to me. We spent some childhood together and I am not ready to see him a waste. I'll love to hear what is the best approach on this putting in mind that CRYSTAL METH ABUSE IS AN ERMERGENCY. In the meanwhile I have come to terms with the reality that the money I borrowed this guy for a small business in the past is gone. Options on hand are taking this issue to the family or trying to enforce he stops by speaking with him. I just dont know. Now is about making sure his life does not go to the dogs. Thank you.
You'd have to sit him down, talk to him like an adult that he is, if you can, make him admit if truly he's into meth cos he might be using his pipe just for weed. If he is, then you'd have to make him see a NEEED TO STOP, how it has impacted his life negatively, this is important cos it's an escape for him from the challenges he is facing. If he can be resolved to stop it gets easier from there. If he is deep in it, you can't possibly handle it yourself! He'll need help.

The sooner you find love within, instead of out, the better.
You've been listening to too many inspirational speakers. Human beings are by nature social. Perhaps you don't need someone else to validate your existence but being without someone who makes you feel treasured is like trying to stay strong and weather the storm with an earnest hope that it passes. We were never meant to live an hermit lifestyle! Everyone deserves to Love and to be Loved.

BAT is well respected within the polity of South western states for good reason and nothing FFK shouts will change that. Now Politics is a game where you make compromises for the inclusiveness of everyone, you cannot say it is my way or no way! It just doesn't work like that.If you've read the text of what Asiwaju said and his proposals, it makes perfect sense, he chastened Malami on the legality of Amotekun and proposed changes to the present structure of the organization. So, why are people so enraged?
