Politics › Summary Of June 12- M.K.O. Abiola Lives On by Mcreloaded(op): 12:12pm On Jun 12, 2017
M.K.O. Abiola was adjudged to have won the June 12, 1993 election which has been described as Nigeria’s “freest and fairest” election ever, but died on July 7, 1998, on the day he was to be released.

He was denied his mandate by the then military ruler, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida who called for another election after annulling the one that produced Abiola.

However, another military dictator, Sani Abacha took over from Babaginda and declared himself military ruler.

Abacha then arrested Abiola for declaring himself “President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal republic of Nigeria” and proclaimed “a new Government of National Unity.”

The military ruler then threw Abiola into prison for four years where he later died on the day he was to be released.

The day I hear that police in Nigeria can lift finger print in any crime scene in Nigeria and use it as evident in court that will be the day I know Nigerian police have woken up. That's why when I see inec matter in Nigeria and finger print or those sim card registration demanding finger prints I just laugh.
With all the finger prints Nigerians have been subjected to in different issues like bank, voters registration, natiional dentity card, drivers license etc the Nigerian police should have the highest data base in the world with finger prints of 90% of its citizens where by where ever a crime is committed all the police needs to do is lift finger prints and check their data base.

Niger delta is already a minority in Nigeria as a whole and if they now join Biafra they will still be a minority. So it is better we remain with the devil we know than the angel we don't know.
Advice to ipods leaders woo your neighbours and don't take them for granted that you can force any tribe or group of people by just categorizing them as biafrans and secondly if you want people to join your secession then the name Biafra should be removed as it stands for Igbo's and Igbo's alone because I don't see how the name Biafra includes other tribes.
Just saying. Let me come and be going

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), has set in motion implementation of the executive order issued by acting President, Yemi Osinbajo on ease of doing business.

NPA yesterday ordered the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and other related agencies to immediately vacate the ports across the country.

Managing Director of the NPA, Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman gave the directive at a stakeholders’ meeting comprising the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), operators and major stakeholders operating in the ports.

She listed the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) as the landlord, the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Police, Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and the Port Health Authority (PHA) as the only agencies approved to operate in the ports.

In 2011, President Goodluck Jonathan approved the guideline to streamline the operations of agencies of government that are to operate in the port, “she said.

Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Hameed Ali, said the federal government has embarked on a change process that has manifested in the executive orders.

The last time senate rejected this 82 year old was when they referred to his age and he retorted by referring to Mugabe's age
This is where I would have been impressed if the Igbo's here in naira land come out and condemn this appointment by Buhari unless there is no younger person actually qualified in Imo state, the truth is bitter guess no body is qualified from that state other than this my grandfathers age mate.
Even if he was my father's age mate I would have screamed blue murder but yet the Igbo's of Imo state in particular the youths fall my hand

Politics › Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor: Senate Confirms 82-Year-Old Ambassadorial Nominee by Mcreloaded(op): 5:32am On Jun 08, 2017
The Senate yesterday confirmed the nomination of Justice Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor (82) from Imo State despite ‘adverse’ report of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Nsofor who was rejected in March on age ground by the Senate was re-presented by President Muhammadu Buhari in April alongside Joseph Olusola Iji (Ondo) and retired Commodore Yusuf Jonga Hinna (Gombe).

The three non-career nominees were confirmed following consideration of the report of the Committee on Foreign Affairs chaired by, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu (APC, Oyo).

Presenting the report, she said the DSS advised against the confirmation of Nsofor on age ground but that the service did not find him wanting on any criminal matters.

She also said Nsofor performed well during his second appearance before the committee and that they were satisfied with his performance.

In his remark, Saraki congratulated the nominees, saying” we wish you useful, successful and healthy tenure.”
