As your Owerri expands and attracts more population from Orlu and Okigwe zones, governments are constrained to build more social infrastructures in Owerri to match the rapidly expanding city.

There shall be little or no funds to provide basic development amenities in Orlu and Okigwe zones. Orlu and Okigwe areas shrink and possibly go to extinction.

Your Nda Ejiogu, Onwuemeodo and “Olu Owerri” knew this fact as they pushed Ohakim and Okorocha to build mega capital city first in Owerri.

Owerri zone has mass education from hosting the tertiary education institutions in Imo state at the exclusion of Orlu and Okigwe zones.

With the mass education, people of Owerri pressure and hoodwink every governor of Imo state to become quasi governor of state capital.
"Pushed Ohakim and Rochas"..You are still repeating the same old idiotic lines. Are you really okay at allhuh My friend if you don't know what to write you log out of nairaland. Do you even realise you are insulting those past governors by making it seem as if they don't have their own mind.

Your hatred for Owerri must be choking you up. Cos I don't understand how Sam Onwuemeodo or whoever you called their had any serious influence in decision making in the past administrations. Even if they were, the governor is the one that was at the head and not them. Stop dwelling on cheap blackmail.

CrimeRe: Court Adjourns Suit Seeking Uzodinma’s Sack Until July 20 by McStoic(m): 12:08am On Jul 16, 2020
Le124:
The Federal High Court Abuja, has adjourned until July 20, a suit filed by Reform and Advancement Party (RAP) and its 2019 governorship candidate, Mr Okere Kingdom asking the court to restrain Gov. Hope Uzodinma from acting as Imo governor.
When the matter was called on Wednesday, Kingdom told the court that he filed an application praying the court to abridge the time within which the defendants would file their responses. Under the rule of law, the defendants have 30 days to respond but the plaintiff told the court that he made the application for the court to abridge the time due to the urgency of the matter.
Kingdom, who is also a lawyer, maintained that the matter was of constitutional importance because Uzodinma was occupying the seat of Imo governor illegally, having not participated in the 2019 election as a candidate of any political party. All the defendants objected to the application on the grounds that they needed the time given by the constitution to respond. Counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Mr Alhassan Umar, SAN, told the court that in line with the principles of fair hearing, the defendants needed to take sufficient time as allocated by the law to respond. He argued that the plaintiff could not take the required time to file his processes only to ask the court to abridge the time for the respondents. The judge, Justice Okon Abang adjourned the matter until July 20 to hear the application. The judge also directed that hearing notices should be served on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since the party was not represented in court. RAP and its 2019 governorship candidate, Mr Okere Kingdom approached the court seeking judicial interpretation on whether the All Progressives congress (APC) indeed sponsored Gov. Uzodinma in the 2019 Imo governorship election. Kingdom said that the suit was predicated on the judgment of the Supreme Court which affirmed Uche Nwosu as the duly nominated 2019 Imo governorship candidate of the APC. He said that one of the issues he wanted the court to determine was whether Uzodinma lawfully participated and was sponsored by the APC to contest the 2019 Imo governorship election in accordance with Section 177 (c) of the 1999 Constitution. “This is having regard to the tenor, clear and unambiguous legal implications/consequences of the judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in appeal no: SC/1384/2019 which upheld the decision of both the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court and affirmed Uche Nwosu as the authentic and duly elected/nominated 2019 Imo State governorship candidate of the APC.

PoliticsRe: Okorocha Threatens Edo Ambassadorial Nominee Over Primaries Under Oshiomhole by McStoic(m): 12:06am On Jul 16, 2020
fergie006:
Rochas Okorocha, senator representing Imo west, has threatened to make a case against the nomination of Yamah Mohammed, an ambassadorial nominee from Edo state.

Okorocha got furious on Wednesday after Mohammed mentioned screening and conducting of primary polls for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as one of his achievements.

Mohammed had appeared before the senate committee on foreign affairs for screening.

In the build-up to the 2019 general election, the primary poll of the APC was characterised with violence.

In Imo, Hope Uzodinma, Imo governor, was recognised by the national working committee (NWC) of the party led by Adams Oshiomhole over Uche Nwosu, Okorocha’s son-in-law.

Nwosu later defected to the Action Alliance (AA) but lost the election.

Speaking at the screening session, Okorocha, a member of the foreign affairs committee, suggested that Mohammed could have been rewarded with the position for the role he played in the 2018 primary polls of the APC.

“He mentioned here that one of his achievements is screening people and conducting primaries. I believe that was under Oshiomhole,” the former Imo governor said.

“I hope you are not being rewarded for the atrocities caused by the chairman. If you tell me that your achievement is conducting one of the worst primaries which in the history of any political party in Nigeria, that brought APC to ridicule and they want to compensate you.

“Peradventure and behave in the same manner, that will tarnish the image of Nigeria. I advise you, don’t ever mention that as an achievement that you conducted primaries for APC anywhere.

“If that was the basis, I’d make a case against this nomination. Most of you did that and the then chairman sent you people to commit atrocities everywhere. Don’t remind people of that.”

Okorocha said being a lawyer and successful businessman is enough credentials for the nominee to scale through the screening process.

After Okorocha’s comments, Adamu Bulkachuwa, chairman of the committee, asked the nominee to “take a bow and go.”
Do me I do you, god of APC no go vex..

PoliticsRe: Senator Godswill Akpabio Reacts To Joi Nunieh Allegations by McStoic(m): 11:58pm On Jul 15, 2020
NwaorguF:
The Honourable Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON said his attention been drawn to a cornucopia of false, malicious, and libellous press interviews granted by Ms. GBENE JOI NUNIEH, the erstwhile Acting Managing Director of the Interim Management Committee, of the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) in some news and social media platforms and a series of concerted vicious campaigns of calumny deviously orchestrated by her against his person ranging from allegation of corruption, sexual and workplace harassments, pipelines bombings, secret cult activities, abuse of office, amongst other lies peddled by her.

The Honourable Minister’s initial attitude was to allow his lawyers and the judicial system vindicate him of the false allegations against him, but he is compelled to react to some of the wayward allegations levied against his person by Ms. Nunieh, especially the one bothering on sexual harassment.

To start with, let it be known that there is no scintilla of truth in all the allegations peddled around by Ms. Nunieh. They are simply false! The Honourable Minister did not at any time, place or circumstance make any form of sexual advances to Ms. Nunieh, not even to put himself in a position or posture suggestive of sexual advances towards Ms. Nunieh, or any female staff of his Ministry or the NDDC.

For the records, the Honourable Minister, Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON is happily married and contented with his wife. Together they are blessed with children, four (4) of whom are young women. The Honourable Minister is an avid believer of the Affirmative Action and that was visible in the appointments he made as a two (2) term Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State between 2007 and 2015. Under his watch, he appointed several women into various high level positions as

Chairpersons of Local Government Councils, Magistrates, Judges, Heads of Parastatals, Directors, Permanent Secretaries, and Commissioners.

He is the first Governor in Akwa Ibom State to have a female Deputy Governor, was also the first to appoint female Chief Justices of the High Court, recommended women for ministerial appointments one of whom was the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, and supported for appointment the first female Vice Chancellor of the only Federal University in the State etc. He has always championed and still champions the cause of women and young children.

Whilst the Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, the Honourable Minister summoned the political will and effrontery to stop modern day slavery in his state, where young women and children were ferried away from the State to other states in Nigeria to be used for all sorts of menial chores as house maids and most suffered unimaginable unethical trade malpractices and maltreatments. He ensured that anyone caught in that trade was severely punished. He signed the Child Rights Law to protect children, especially the girl child from stigmatization and punishment by ordeal where some were executed or banished on allegation of witchcraft. The Child Rights Law also made primary and secondary education in Akwa Ibom State free and compulsory; educating the girl child was his topmost priority.

The Honourable Minister has never hidden his admiration and respect for his wife, Mrs. Ekaete Akpabio, Children and sisters, he therefore felt compelled to react to the malicious attack on his person by Ms. Nunieh bothering on allegations of sexual harassment. The Honourable Minister therefore finds the said allegation nauseating and a very cheap blackmail, for Ms. Nunieh to suggest or insinuate that he sexually harassed her, while she was the Acting Managing Director of the NDDC.

The Honourable Minister also finds it appalling that, Ms. Nunieh, never deemed it fit to report the alleged incident to the police at the earliest opportunity she had, before, during or after her tenure as the Acting Managing Director on 17th February, 2020, if indeed the allegation was true. Waiting till July 10th and 13th 2020 when the National Assembly appears to be probing some of her actions as the Acting Managing Director of the Interim Management Committee (“IMC”) exposes her motive, especially at a time when the momentum for the Forensic Audit

Investigation of the NDDC is heating up and the truth is about to be unveiled for all to see? The critical question is who is afraid of the Forensic Audit at the NDDC? Who is Afraid of the Truth?

There is no doubt that Ms. Nunieh’s attacks are both personal and sponsored. Those afraid of the truth, and who wish to bury it from seeing the light of the day, are strenuously behind Ms. Nunieh’s vicious campaign of calumny.

The Honourable Minister has a mandate from Mr. President, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR to unearth alleged looting and financial misappropriation that had gone on at the NDDC since its inception in 2001. He is committed to that mandate through the forensic audit of the NDDC and will not be deterred or distracted from that goal. The aim of this campaign of calumny is simple, get Senator Akpabio out, kill the forensic audit, and continue business as usual at the NDDC.

On the allegations of the Honourable Minister’s involvement in contract racketeering, bombing of oil pipelines, corruption/diversion of funds, the Honourable Minister has stated several times and at various fora that since his assumption of office, he has only awarded three contracts till date- the appointment of the lead forensic auditors which was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC); the emergency procurement contract for COVID-19 intervention in the Niger Delta Area which due to its urgency had his interim approval and Presidential approval in line with the Bureau of Public Procurement Act and the award of Vehicles procurement duly approved by the Bureau of Public Procurement and the Federal Executive Council but yet to be consummated. It is noteworthy, that all these contracts went through due processes.

On her allegation that the Honourable Minister directed her to change the Dollars in the NDDC’s Account; for the records, it should be noted that NDDC’s Account is domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria. Every inflow and outflow is known and traceable. NDDC gets its revenue in Dollars which is paid directly to its Treasury Single Account (TSA) with the Central Bank of Nigeria. The Dollar is then converted to Naira by the CBN and paid into the NDDC Naira Account still domiciled with the CBN upon a written application from the NDDC. It is therefore impossible for any sum of money belonging to the NDDC with the CBN including the several figures bandied around as missing to be missing.

It is important to state, that unlike in the past where the NDDC had over three hundred (300) bank accounts in different commercial banks, that practice had since changed under the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, which gave full effect to the application of the Treasury Single Account and the NDDC now has its accounts with the CBN. The Honourable Minister does not give verbal instructions to anybody, all instructions are in writing and in response to a request from the Commission.

On the allegation that the Honourable Minister directed Ms. Nunieh to remove Mr. Kaltungo, same is false. His track record marks him out as a totally detribalized politician and one of the best friends of Northern Nigeria. The Honourable Minister was informed by the NDDC management that over twenty three (23) top Management Staff, from various part of Nigeria including the Niger Delta region, who have evaded leave in the last ten (10) years or had the tendency to influence negatively the ongoing forensic audit were recommended for mandatory leave by the lead forensic auditors. They are still staff of the Commission currently receiving their monthly salaries and benefits.

The Honourable Minister has taken steps to instruct his lawyers to seek necessary redress in a Court of competent Jurisdiction on his behalf over the defamatory statements made by Ms. Nunieh.

On a final note, while encouraging all Nigerians to hold their leaders to account, he urges them to take their time to sift between the chaff and the substance before embarking on far reaching allegations, opinions and views.

Signed

PoliticsRe: How Ihedioha Spent N78.4b In Seven Months by McStoic(m): 10:46am On Jul 15, 2020
ositaizu:
Owerri Whistle blower petitions Imo Assembly, calls for investigation.

The administration of immediate past governor of Imo State Emeka Ihedioha spent over N78.4 billion in seven months, a whistle blower reveals to the State House of Assembly.

The whistle blower, Arch. Obodozie Ihezue alleged in a petition to the House dated 8th May, 2020 that Ihedioha misappropriated the funds during his seven months administration.

The House learnt in the petition that less than eight months Ihedioha piloted the State, huge amount of money meant for the development of the State could not be accounted for.

According to the petition the broke down of the monies gulped by the past administration include : 2019 fiscal receipts brought forward from governor Rochas Okorocha's tenure which amounted to N48. 5 billion, Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) In addition to Special allocations which the whistle blower said is N54.319 billion, excluding N13.04 billion Value Added Tax (VAT) and N14. 385 billion (IGR).

The Whistle blower further alleged that the Paris Club Refunds was about N4. 85 billion while the Joint Allocation Committee (JAAC) funds for 7 months was put at an average of N3. 86 billion per month totalling about N27.02billion.

State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) fund and the Rural Access Mobility Project (RAMP) he claimed was N17.5 billion and N15 billion respectively.

Similarly, the Whistle blower has also alleged that Ihedioha have some choice properties in Abuja, London and in Imo State.

According to him, Ihedioha own a 5 star hotel under construction at 4, Chulkee street Gazope, Asokoro Abuja valued at N10 billion.

He further alleged that the former governor has 10 houses acquired at Achike Udenwa Estate, Imo State through his front who he alleged is his cousin, Chikere valued at N5 billion.

Another multi million mansion at St. John's Wood NW8, City of West Minister , London the Whistle blower said was owned by Ihedioha.

He also alleged Ihedioha also bought, demolished and rebuild another property he acquired at Charles Amadi Street, Civic Centre , Owerri at the sum of N5 billion as well as the ones he bought at his Mbutu village. He urged the House to investigate the whereabouts of these funds as there was nothing on ground to show that "these funds were judiciously expended."

Contacted, the Imo State House of Assembly has admitted that it has received a petition from the whistle blower.

Speaker of the State assembly, Chiji Collins who admitted the petition is before the house added that the petition would be looked into when the House resumes sitting.

"We have received it in the Assembly, it has come to my table. We supposed to have handled it but because of Covid, that's why. I have not presented it to the House but I have seen it, usually when a petition comes in we take it to executive session, then the Clerk will list it. So, it is still with me, once we resume, we are going to look into it. It is a serious matter."
Yet he paid pensioners, paid and continued paying salaries, he signed counterpart funding for roads and other contracts. Your hopeless Hope with all his phony billions he has been saving monthly has not been able to pay anyone. Wickedness will not kill you shameless guys.

Evil mind, you knew that uncompleted urban drainage system was wrecking Orlu when you were asking Ohakim and Okorocha to build you flyovers where roundabouts or traffic lights would have sufficed in Owerri. You foolishly believed that flyover is a sign of big city.

The two governors hurriedly built you flyovers in Owerri. They will never collapse so long as vehicles don’t ply on them.

Let them remain flyover monuments for you; at least to make you learn a lesson that other parts of Imo state need the most basic infrastructures like treated running water and good roads before unnecessary flyovers in Owerri.
You are an ignorant mad man. Foolishness will not kill you.. Look at how you are making it sound as if the governors (Rochas and Ohakim) don't have a mind of their own. What kind of rubbish mindset is that?! My friend stop insulting our collective intelligence by that cheap rant.

You are making it appear as if all a governor needs to work is to be directed on what to do by a particular people. He doesn't have his own mind ikwa?! So what happened to his commissioners, advisers, party men etc?? Your naivety beats me hollow..

As in, justifying a governor's wickedness just because he is angry at Owerri zone. I am utterly shocked beyond words...
