The PUNCH had reported that there was panic in Owerri, the state capital, as gunmen shot no fewer than four motorists in a Sunday night robbery attack.

The incident happened at Orji, on Owerri- Okigwe Road very close to the Orji Divisional Police Headquarters.

One of the motorists who was shot was driving an unmarked security vehicle.

He was driving in the vehicle, when they double crossed him, shot him before attacking other vehicles, including commercial buses.

The incident caused abrupt end to commercial activities within the area as people, including those drinking at nearby bars who scampered for safety.

Kai...for more than 3 hours now there have been intermittent sporadic shots around Owerri Municipal. Adjourning Wetheral road leading to Douglas road and Ama Awusa. A friend just informed that there was an ongoing gun battle in that area. And Hausa boys were scraping their matchetes on the tarred road along Nekede-West End axis...

You are talking of economic and political gain when revenge is involved. When someone kills your loved ones, you don't sit down to think about your political and economic gain before exacting revenge, do you? Taking a life of those killer security officers is the payback they UGM care about.

The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC has suspended Channels Television with a fine N5 million for breaching the broadcast code.

In a letter to the Managing Director of Channels Television signed by the Acting Director-General of the Commission, NBC, Armstrong Idachaba, the Commission referred to Channels 7pm live broadcast programme of Sunday, April 25, 2021.

According to the NBC, the TV station erred by allowing a leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB to make secessionist and inciting declarations on air without caution or reprimand.

Mr Amstrong added that such act contravenes broadcast code.

It also accused the station of allowing the guest speaker to make derogatory, false and misleading statements about the Nigerian army, despite being proscribed by a court of law.

It is no news that Chadian strongman Idris Deby has passed on. (May Allah grant him journey mercy). What is still news is that the circumstances surrounding his death are unclear even to his aides.
Today, I will tell us the latest gist on the streets of Ndjamena, from Chadians themselves.

Latest sources confirm the late president visited the frontline, but he was not in harms way and he was with sufficient security around him. This position is not contested as no sane security team will take a sitting president to the combat zone. So, yes he visited the frontline but not the hot spots. No president would be put in direct harm. No way. It is unthinkable.

Chadians say, none of his security details saw a rebel nor was there active fighting when Deby visited. Thus the story making the rounds that he died on the frontline is partly incorrect. He was not in the fighting area.

His security details have said, they did not hear gunshot until the bullet struck Deby. The bullet from nowhere just hit Deby straight in the chest.
No one heard the shot or saw the shooter. And the bullet hit Deby in the chest which indicates a Target. All security men around him were unscathed. Which leads to one Conclusion. SNIPER . SNIPER. SNIPER. SNIPER. An inside mole must have leaked the president's movement which allowed a SNIPER to position. These don't sound like Rebels work.

The debate now is,
(A) would rebels have a SNIPER. A well trained SNIPER that can target accurately from hundreds of miles away ? Your answer ??
(B) would rebels know when and where exactly the president is visiting to insert a SNIPER ?

You can answer yourselves the questions that Chadians are asking themselves.

The current thinking now is that the Rebels probably hit a Jackpot or that the Rebels didn't kill Deby. The latter is more plausible because you cannot hit a Jackpot with a bullet to the chest. That was a Target.

The security forces have been on the matter of IPOB for a longgg time. Remember Operation Python dance? Remember the mass murder of Biafran youths in various south eastern states in cold blood? Popular Nigerian clergyman, Prophet Odumeje has vowed to deal with persons accusing him of staging fake miracles in his church, IgbereTV reports.

A video shared on Actress Rita Edochie's Instagram handle shows the prophet issuing the threat. The video was shared days after comedienne, Ada Jesus passed away.

Ada Jesus had a quarrel with the clergyman and Rita Edochie after she accused them of staging fake miracles in his Onitsha-based church. She sought their forgiveness before she passed on April 21.
