Health / Effects Of Laptop Heat by mcstones(m): 1:55pm On Aug 17, 2016
Do you like working on your laptop computer with it sitting on your lap, heating up your legs ? If so, you might want to rethink that habit. Doing it a lot can lead to “toasted skin syndrome,” an unusual looking mottled skin condition caused by long-term heat exposure, according to medical reports.

Laptop computers are small, portable and convenient. The portability allows its use almost anywhere. However, there are also health hazard associated with some applications of use that can be controlled by practicing good “ergonomics”.

Read how to reduce menstrual pain at http://www.soundhealthdoctor.com/2016/03/how-to-comfort-uncomfortable-pain.html

Ergonomics are those factors or qualities in the design of something, especially a workplace or equipment used by people at work, that contribute to comfort, efficiency, safety, and ease of use

Using laptop computers placed on the lap has been suspected of causing health problems and may impact the musculoskeletal system, skin, and fertility. These potential impacts though not fully understood, are briefly reviewed below.

We do know using a laptop computer on the lap can lead to awkward or non neutral postures and these postures can lead to strain and eventual aches and pains. To minimize risk of strain we suggest placing the laptop on a desk. Better still; try using a separate mouse, keyboard, monitor, and docking station. These allow you to position your tools to fit your body and achieve more neutral postures. The static reaching positioning of the arms is neutralized by this.

Laptop computers generate heat from the central processing unit, lithium ion battery and even the hard drive. More common in the old days, “toasted skin syndrome”, also known as “erythema ab igne”, refers to a skin injury resulting from chronic or repeated exposure to heat. It was seen amongst workers who stood in front of fireplaces or kilns. Now, toasted skin syndrome is more commonly related to heating pads or laptop computer use.
laptop lap desk

Dermatologists say toasted skin syndrome is associated with a very slight increase in skin cancers. If skin changes have been short lived, the appearance of the skin may normalize in a period of months.

Major manufacturers including Apple, Hewlett Packard and Dell warn in user manuals against placing laptops on laps or exposed skin for extended periods of time because of the risk for burns.

A medical report several years ago found that men who used laptops on their laps had elevated scrotum temperatures. If prolonged, that kind of heat can decrease sperm production, which can potentially lead to infertility. Whether laptop use itself can cause that kind of harm hasn’t been confirmed.

Also, the impact of heat on male fertility is old news. Recent preliminary research in Toronto, by male fertility expert Sergey Moskovtsev, indicates that heat from laptop computers when used on the lap negatively affects sperm motility. He indicates a possibility that other laptop computer related factors may affect fertility as well, however research continues…

What to do about it

It is important to control exposure to the heat source and neutralize your posture. If the use of a desk is not possible, ensure the following measures to help reduce heat affecting skin and fertility.

Ensure ;

Sufficient cooling space between the laptop and the lap
Air circulation around the laptop
Unobstructed vents in the laptop

New products such as lap desks and cooling pads are available in stores and may help laptop users in their effort to avoid the heat while adding life to their computer.

See a doctor about any problem if you have questions or if the skin changes do not resolve.

Health / Know About Boils And Be Free From It Today by mcstones(m): 5:00pm On Jul 28, 2016
A boil is a skin infection that starts in a hair follicle or oil gland. Also referred to as a skin abscess, it is a localized infection deep in the skin. Boils can be as small as a pea or as large as a golf ball and can develop on any part of the body. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Over time, the area becomes firm and hard. Eventually, the center of the abscess softens and becomes filled with infection-fighting white blood cells that the body sends via the bloodstream to eradicate the infection. This collection of white blood cells, bacteria, and proteins is known as pus. Finally, the pus "forms a head," which can be surgically opened or spontaneously drain out through the surface of the skin.

Boil Symptoms

A boil starts as a hard, red, painful lump usually less than an inch in size. Over the next few days, the lump becomes softer, larger, and more painful. Soon a pocket of pus forms on the top of the boil.

Signs of a severe infection are ;

The skin around the boil becomes red, painful, and swollen;
More boils may appear around the original one;
A fever develops
The lymph nodes in the area become swollen.

Where Do Boils Form?

Location of boils
The most common places for boils to appear are on the

neck,
armpits,
shoulders,
buttocks,
eyelid (when one forms on the eyelid, it is called a sty.)

What Causes Boils?

There are many causes of boils. Boils are usually caused by a type of bacteria called Staphylococcus (staph). This germ can be present on normal skin and enters the body through tiny breaks in the skin or by traveling down a hair to the follicle. Some boils can be caused by an ingrown hair.

Others can form as the result of a splinter or other foreign material that has become lodged in the skin that causes the infection to develop. Others boils, such as those of acne, are caused by plugged sweat glands that become infected.

The skin is an essential part of our immune defense against materials and microbes that are foreign to our body. Any break in the skin, such as a cut or scrape, can develop into an abscess (boil) should it then become infected with bacteria.

What Is the Treatment for a Boil?

Although boils can be often painful and unsightly, boils are not a serious problem and can be effectively treated at home. Ideally, the treatment should begin as soon as a boil is noticed since early treatment may prevent later complications.

The primary treatment for most boils is heat application, usually with hot soaks or hot packs. Heat application increases the circulation to the area and allows the body to better fight off the infection by bringing antibodies and white blood cells to the site of infection.

Another method of treating boil is to wash the drained boil with antibacterial soap. Once the boil starts draining, it is very important that you keep the area clean. Wash the boil thoroughly with an antibacterial soap and warm water, until all of the pus has drained. Once clean, dry the boil with a clean towel or some paper towel, which should be washed or thrown away immediately after use, to avoid spreading the infection.

As the surface of the boil softens and fills with pus, it may be tempting to burst the skin with a needle and drain the contents yourself. However, this is not recommended as it can cause the boil to become infected or the bacteria within the boil to spread, causing multiple boils.

What Can Be Done to Prevent Boils ?

Practice good hygiene.
Good hygiene is probably the most important thing you can do to prevent boils As boils are usually caused by bacteria infecting the hair follicles, you should prevent the build up of bacteria on the surface of the skin by washing daily. Normal soap is fine, but if you are prone to developing boils, an antibacterial wash may be better.

Avoid sitting down for extended periods of time.
Boils that form between the buttocks, also known as "pilonidal cysts," usually develop as a result of direct pressure caused by sitting down for long periods of time. They are common in truck drivers and people who have recently traveled on a long flight. If possible, try to relieve the pressure by taking frequent breaks to stretch your legs.

Clean any cuts or wounds immediately and thoroughly.
Bacteria can easily enter the body through cuts and wounds on the skin. It can then travel down the hair follicle where it causes infection and the development of boils. To avoid this, make sure to clean all minor cuts and scrapes well with an antibacterial wash, apply a cream or ointment, and cover with a bandage until healed.

Frequent Questions People Asked About Me Boil

1. Are Boils Contagious?

Boils themselves are not contagious, but the bacteria that cause boils are. Until it drains and heals, an active skin boil is contagious. The infection can spread to other parts of the person's body or to other people through skin-to-skin contact or the sharing of personal items.

2. Should Boils Be Drained?
As long as the boil is small and firm, opening the area and draining the boil is not helpful, even if the area is painful. However, once the boil becomes soft or "forms a head" (that is, a small pustule is noted in the boil), it can be ready to drain. Once drained, pain relief can be dramatic. Most small boils, such as those that form around hairs, drain on their own with soaking and/or heat application. On occasion, and especially with larger boils, the larger boil will need to be drained or "lanced" by a health-care practitioner. Frequently, these larger boils contain several pockets of pus that must be opened and drained.

3. When Should I Seek Medical Attention?

You should call your doctor and seek medical attention if:

the boil is located on your face, near your spine, or near your anus;
a boil is getting larger;
the pain is severe;
you have a fever;
the skin around the boil turns red or red streaks appear;
you have a heart murmur, diabetes, any problem with your immune system, or use immune-suppressing drugs (for example, corticosteroids or chemotherapy) and you develop a boil;
the boil has not improved after five to seven days of home treatment;
you get many boils over several months.

Health / How To Burn Fat In The Body In 2 Days by mcstones(m): 2:28pm On Jun 29, 2016
I've been getting alot of questions this days from people about 'How to lose belly fat'.
It's the million-dollar question, and many companies are making more money instead of offering answers. But you don't need to spend a dime to tighten and tone those abdominals, though. You only need to understand a few things about the human body. So i decided to publish a post on it for people to read.

Belly fat is actually the most dangerous type of fat – besides aesthetics, large waist lines are indicators of disease. Your weight is largely determined by how you balance the calories you eat with the energy you burn. If you eat too much and exercise too little, you're likely to carry excess weight — including belly fat.

So how do you shape up? Try these 6 things below and you will be on your way to a flatter belly in no time !

Eat a healthy diet.

Emphasize plant-based foods, such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and choose lean sources of protein and low-fat dairy products. Limit added sugar and saturated fat, which is found in meat and high-fat dairy products, such as cheese and butter. Choose moderate amounts of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats — found in fish, nuts and certain vegetable oils — instead.

Sleep

If you want to work late at night, think again. When your biorhythms are off, you end up eating more. When you’re tired you produce more ghrelin, which triggers cravings for sugar and other fat-building foods. Losing sleep can also alter your hormone production, affecting your cortisol levels that cause insulin sensitivity, prime reasons for belly fat! Getting about 7 hours of sleep a night is one of the best things you can do for your body shaping goals.

Include physical activity in your daily routine.

1000 crunches a night may get you strong abdominal muscles, but with a full layer of fat on top, you will not get the results you really want. Instead of all those crunches, do exercises that engage multiple muscle groups and work your cardiovascular system. Try planking, where you hold yourself in a push-up position, resting your forearms on the ground. Try 3 or 4 sets of holding for 30 seconds each. Getting up and moving throughout the day by going for walks will also help. In addition, strength training exercises are recommended at least twice a week. If you want to lose weight or meet specific fitness goals, you might need to exercise more. Exercise can be very effective if you are trying to lose belly fat. Exercise also has a number of other health benefits.

Minimize your sugar intake

Fighting belly fat is 80% healthy diet. Reduce calories by filling yourself up with protein, vegetables, whole grains, and replacing bad habit snacks with good ones. For example, if you have a sugar craving, replace your calorie laden latte with a Muscle Milk lite, one of my favorites, because it has zero sugar and a ton of protein that will satiate while also torching my sugar craving! Another great trick is a sprinkle of cinnamon in your morning coffee or oatmeal- the spice has been shown to help stabilize blood sugar. It also slows the rate at which food exits the stomach, which helps you feel fuller longer. Drink water or beverages with artificial sweetener instead of taking sugar.

Consume more vitamin C

When you’re under extreme stress, you secrete more cortisol hormone. Vitamin C helps balance the cortisol spikes that happen to you under this stress. Besides being a good way to counteract a cold, Vitamin C is also essential for making carnitine, a compound used by the body to turn fat into fuel, making this vitamin your fat burning friend.
If you’re going through an emotional crisis, stress from work, or a bad eating splurge, increase your vitamin C – it’ll help counteract the negative side effects. Try bell peppers, kale or kiwi fruits. These have even more Vitamin C than the famous Orange fruit ! Eating fruits also help to reduce belly fat as they also contain Vitamin C.

Eat Fat

This may be surprising but it actually works! It takes fat to burn fat. Like I said above, it’s sugar that gets you fat, not fat. Good fats include foods rich in Omega 3′s, like salmon, avocados & walnuts. These foods are full of nutrients that help keep you satiated throughout the day.

Health / New Killer Disease 'stevens-johnson Syndrome' Now In Town by mcstones(m): 5:52pm On May 17, 2016
The Federal Minister of Health, Issac Adewole, has revealed that there is a new disease in Nigeria which has killed a Nigerian while another is currently undergoing treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, Nigeria.
Briefing journalists in Abuja, on Friday, Professor Adewole said the health condition known as Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS) was an unusual allergic reactions in Nigeria and some parts of Europe.

He said, “We have to find a means to communicate with Nigerians,so they should all be aware of this dangerous disease and it is the sole business of government to enlighten the society by trying to increase their awareness, knowledge and to improve their quality way of life.”

That is why I took my time to do some researches on it and enlighten people.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SJS
Stevens-Johnson syndrome is a rare and serious disorder of your skin and mucous membranes. It's usually a reaction to a medication or an infection. Often, Stevens-Johnson syndrome begins with flu-like symptoms, followed by a painful red or purplish rash that spreads and blisters. Then the top layer of the affected skin dies and sheds.

Most often, it's a severe reaction to a medicine you've taken. It causes your skin to blister and peel off. Blisters also form inside your body, making it hard to eat, swallow, even pee.

Stevens-Johnson syndrome is a medical emergency that usually requires hospitalization. Treatment focuses on eliminating the underlying cause, controlling symptoms and minimizing complications.

Recovery after Stevens-Johnson syndrome can take weeks to months, depending on the severity of your condition. If it was caused by a medication, you'll need to permanently avoid that drug and others closely related to it.

HISTORY
Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) is named for Albert Mason Stevens and Frank Chambliss Johnson, American pediatricians who jointly published a description of the disorder in the American Journal of Diseases of Children in 1922

SYMPTOMS OF SJS
Stevens-Johnson syndrome symptoms include:

Facial swelling
Tongue swelling
Skin pain
A red or purple skin rash that spreads within hours to days
Blisters on your skin and the mucous membranes of your mouth, nose, eyes and genitals
Shedding of your skin

If you have Stevens-Johnson syndrome, several days before the rash develops you may experience:

Fever
Sore mouth and throat
Fatigue
Cough
Burning eyes

CAUSES OF SJS
Stevens-Johnson syndrome is a rare and unpredictable reaction. Your doctor may not be able to identify its exact cause, but usually the condition is triggered by a medication or an infection. Genetics also causes it (that is it can be inherited from parents).
Medication and therapy causes
Drugs that can cause Stevens-Johnson syndrome include:

Anti-gout medications, such as allopurinol
Pain relievers such as acetaminophen (Tylenol, others), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) and naproxen sodium (Aleve)
Medications to fight infection, such as penicillin
Medications to treat seizures or mental illness (anticonvulsants and antipsychotics)
Radiation therapy

Infectious causes
You're most likely to get SJS if you have:

HIV or other problems with your immune system
Had SJS before
Certain genes you inherit from your parents
Radiation treatments
Hepatitis
Herpes (herpes simplex or herpes zoster)
Pneumonia

TREATMENT OF SJS
You'll be treated for SJS in the hospital by a special team of doctors and nurses. Some people are treated in a burn center or intensive care unit.
The first thing doctors will do is to stop the medication or treat the infection that made you sick. They'll also try to relieve your symptoms, prevent infections, and support your healing.

You could be in the hospital from 2 to 4 weeks. It takes time to recover from SJS, and most people do.

PREVENTING SJS
There's often no way to know how you'll react to certain medicines -- even ones your doctor prescribes. If you're of Asian descent, you may have a gene that raises your risk of SJS. Talk to your doctor about getting tested for this gene before you take carbamazepine.

If you've already had SJS, be careful so you don't get it again by :

Telling your doctors you've had SJS.
Know the name of the medicine that caused your SJS. Avoid taking it or any drugs like it again.

Health / Miraculous Intervention Of Exercises On The Body by mcstones(m): 1:33am On Apr 21, 2016
People are less active nowadays, partly because technology has made our lives easier. We drive cars or take public transport. Machines wash our clothes. We entertain ourselves in front of a TV or computer screen. Fewer people are doing manual work, and most of us have jobs that involve little physical effort. Work, house chores, shopping and other necessary activities are far less demanding than for previous generations. We move around less and burn off less energy than people used to. Research suggests that many adults spend more than seven hours a day sitting down, at work, on transport or in their leisure time.

The benefits of exercise extend far beyond weight management. Research shows that regular exercise can help reduce your risk for several diseases and health conditions and improve your overall quality of life.
Regular exercise can help protect you from the following health problems.

Heart Disease and Stroke : Daily exercise can help prevent heart disease and stroke by strengthening your heart muscle, lowering your blood pressure, raising your high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels (good cholesterol) and lowering low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels (bad cholesterol), improving blood flow, and increasing your heart's working capacity. Optimizing each of these factors can provide additional benefits of decreasing the risk for Peripheral Vascular Disease.

High Blood Pressure :
Regular exercise can reduce blood pressure in those with high blood pressure levels. Exercise reduces body fat, which is associated with high blood pressure.

Noninsulin-Dependent Diabetes : By reducing body fat, exercise can help to prevent and control this type of diabetes.

Obesity : Exercise helps to reduce body fat by building or preserving muscle mass and improving the body's ability to use calories. When exercise is combined with proper nutrition, it can help control weight and prevent obesity, a major risk factor for many diseases.

Back Pain : By increasing muscle strength and endurance and improving flexibility and posture, regular exercise helps to prevent back pain.

Osteoporosis : Regular weight-bearing exercise promotes bone formation and may prevent many forms of bone loss associated with aging.

Self Esteem And Stress Management : Studies on the psychological effects of exercise have found that regular physical activity can improve your mood and the way you feel about yourself. Researchers have found that exercise is likely to reduce depression and anxiety and help you to better manage stress.

Disability : Running and aerobic exercise have been shown to postpone the development of disability in older adults.

To stay healthy, adults should try to be active daily and aim to achieve at least 5 hours of exercise over a week through a variety of activities. Stay Healthy !!!

Health / Things That Spoils The Kidney by mcstones(m): 3:20am On Mar 21, 2016
The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs that is an essential organ of the body. It removes wastes and extra water from the blood to form urine. The kidneys are important organs with many functions in the body, including producing hormones, absorbing minerals, and filtering blood and producing urine. They are located in the back of the abdomen.
Good kidney function is essential to any healthy body.

Functions of the kidney

-Remove waste products from the body
-Balance the body's fluids
-Release hormones that regulate blood pressure
-Control the production of red blood cells
-Prevent the buildup of wastes and extra fluid in the body
-Keep levels of electrolytes stable, such as sodium, potassium, and phosphate
-Make hormones that helps regulate blood pressure, make red blood cells and makes bones stay strong.

Activities That Damage The Kidney
1. Not drinking enough water
The main job of our kidneys is to regulate erythrocyte balances and drain metabolic waste from the body. If the body is not properly hydrated, the renal blood flow decreases, resulting in accumulation of toxins in the blood. Concentrated, dark-colored urine is a sign that your kidneys are retaining fluids to maintain your bodily functions, and is a good indication that you need more water. Ideally, you’ll want to drink enough water to turn your urine a light-colored yellow. It’s important to recognize that your body loses water throughout each day, even when you’re not sweating, and that you need to constantly replenish this fluid loss. So, increase the rate of your water intake to help your kidney.
2. Delaying going to the toilet

Keeping your urine in your bladder for too long is a bad idea. A full bladder can cause bladder damage. The urine that stays in the bladder multiplies bacteria quickly. Once the urine refluxes back to the ureter and kidneys, the toxic substances can result in kidney infections, then urinary tract infections, and then nephritis, and even uremia. If you hold it in too frequently, you could be more likely to develop long-term urinary tract symptoms like frequent and painful urination.
3. Too much alcohol consumption
When we drink alcohol we often ignore the proper quantity suitable for good health. Too much alcoholic intake is a habit that can severely damage your kidneys. Alcohol is full of toxins that stress our kidneys thus damaging them. Alcohol can cause changes in the function of the kidneys and make them less able to filter your blood.
4. Sleeplessness
Diabetes occurs more often in people who sleep less, as does high blood pressure, and we know that two of the greatest factors that decrease kidney function are diabetes and high blood pressure. During the night when you sleep, the organs tissues are repairing themselves. Therefore, every time you don’t get good quality sleep, the renewal process is interrupted, resulting in damage to the kidneys and other organs.
5. Consumption of too much caffeine
Caffeine may be the most common drug in the human food supply. That mug of breakfast coffee, the cup of tea in the afternoon and the energy drink or cola on a hot day all contain caffeine. You may think of caffeine as a mild stimulant and use it for that purpose, but caffeine affects the whole body, including your kidneys. It is common that whenever we are thirsty we choose to drink other beverages like sodas and soft drinks rather than water. Many of these beverages contain caffeine. High blood pressure puts strain on the kidneys which can damage them, and caffeine can elevate blood pressure.
6. Smoking
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that smoking is bad for almost every organ of the body, including the kidneys. Smoking can interfere with medicines used to treat high blood pressure. Uncontrolled or poorly controlled high blood pressure is a leading cause of kidney disease caused by smoking. Also, smoking slows the blood flow to vital organs like the kidneys and can worsen already existing kidney disease.
7. High Salt Intake
Regularly intake of too much salt can also cause huge damage to your kidneys as well as other health problems. When salt intake is high, the kidneys need to work harder to excrete the excess salt. This in turn can lead to decreased kidney functioning, causing water retention in the body. Water retention can cause a hike in blood pressure and increase the risk of developing kidney disease.
Studies have also shown that salt intake increases the amount of urinary protein, one of the major risk factors for developing kidney disease.
A high salt intake has been shown to increase the amount of protein in the urine which is a major risk factor for the decline of kidney function. There is also increasing evidence that a high salt intake may increase deterioration of kidney disease in people already suffering from kidney problems. - See more at: http://www.actiononsalt.org.uk/salthealth/factsheets/kidney/#sthash.KEnA0atK.dpuf

The recommended amount of salt is no more than 5 grams a day. More than this amount is harmful for your kidneys as well as your overall health. 1 teaspoon of salt is about 6 grams.
8. Regular Use of Analgesics
Many of us have the habit of taking analgesics (over-the-counter painkillers) to control pain and reduce fever and inflammation. But this can damage different body organs, including the kidneys.
Research shows that analgesics may reduce blood flow to the kidneys and deteriorate kidney functioning. Moreover, heavy or long-term use of over-the-counter analgesics can cause acute renal failure or chronic kidney disease known as chronic interstitial nephritis.
If you have decreased kidney function, do not take painkillers without asking your doctor. Even with normal kidney function, analgesics should be used as directed, at the lowest dose possible and for the shortest time.

Health / How To Reduce Menstrual Pain by mcstones(m): 3:03am On Mar 21, 2016
Menstruation is a monthly occurrence for women in which the body sheds the lining of the uterus (womb), which is then passed through a small opening in the cervix and out through the vaginal canal.

Some pain, cramping, and discomfort during menstrual periods is normal. However, excessive pain that causes you to regularly miss work , school or feel very uncomfortable is not normal.
The medical term for painful menstruation is dysmenorrhea.

There are two types of dysmenorrhea :

Primary dysmenorrhea occurs in women who experience pain just before and during menstruation, but who are otherwise healthy. Women who have had normal periods that later become painful may have secondary dysmenorrhea. This condition is usually accompanied by a problem affecting the uterus or other pelvic organs.

Secondary dysmenorrhea is characterized by cramping pains that are due to an identifiable medical problem such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, or pelvic inflammatory disease.

I would talk about primary dysmenorrhea mainly in this article because that's the common one our girls experience.

Causes of Menstrual Cramps
Menstrual cramps are caused by contractions in the uterus, which is a muscle. The uterus, the hollow, pear-shaped organ where a baby grows, contracts throughout a woman's menstrual cycle. If the uterus contracts too strongly, it can press against nearby blood vessels, cutting off the supply of oxygen to the muscle tissue of the uterus. Pain results when part of a muscle briefly loses its supply of oxygen.

The following circumstances may make a woman more likely to experience menstrual cramps:

-If she started her first period at an early age (younger than 11 years).
-Her menstrual periods last 5 days or longer.
-She smokes cigarettes
-She has never been pregnant.
-She has female relatives who have menstrual cramps. It can be hereditary.
-Having heavy bleeding with periods
-Having irregular periods

The symptoms of menstrual cramps
Symptoms of menstrual cramps include:

-Dull, throbbing, cramping pain in the lower abdomen
-Pain in the lower back and thighs
-Nausea
-Vomiting
-Sweating
-Dizziness
-Diarrhea
-Loose stools
-Constipation
-Bloating in the belly area
-Headaches
-Lightheadedness - feeling faint.
-Irritability
-Fatigue

Quick Treatment of Menstrual Cramps
-Using a heating pad on your pelvic area or back
-Massaging the abdomen
-Taking a warm bath
-Regular physical exercise
-Eating light and nutritious meals
-Practicing relaxation techniques or yoga
-Taking an anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen several days before your expected period
-Raising your legs or lying with your knees bent

If home treatment is not successful in relieving your menstrual pain, there are a number of medical treatment options. Treatment will depend on the severity and underlying cause of your cramps. If your pain is caused by PID or STIs, these need to be treated. Your doctor will prescribe antibiotics to clear the infection. Your doctor may prescribe a medication to help with the pain.

Prevention of menstrual cramps
You may be able to prevent menstrual cramps. My recommended preventive measures include:

-Eating fruits and vegetables and limiting intake of fat, alcohol, caffeine, salt, and sweets
-Exercising regularly
-Reducing stress
-Quitting smoking
-Yoga or relaxation therapy
-Acupuncture or acupressure.
