@mcy56 Thanks for always replying, I don’t know how to quote, I would have quoted you so you can see the reply directly... another question after the qualification date can I sell the stock before the payment date and still receive payment as at when due and just leave say 100 units lol.
Check below the comment, you will see: 'quote', 'report', 'like' and 'share'................... click quote for anyone you wish to quote.

You cant receive dividend if you sell before qualification date. It means you didnt qualify nau. grin
You will only receive for the 100units you left unsold.

Thank you mcy56
U're welcome.
Let me add this too: If you are considering buying some other dividend paying stocks in future, you may just buy like 10 units of them so you can use it to process their dividend forms ahead of time.

@mcy56 I’m a newbie here, please about your dividend post I have a question. If dividends are declared and I have holding in stock say Zenith bank how do I reclaim the dividend immediately if let’s say I want to sell after some time, the issue of dividends is a bit confusing for me. Thanks for your help in educating us that want to learn.
Once dividend is declared:
* A qualification date will be announced shortly (Qualification date is the date all those having the stock and are in registrar's book will qualify to receive the declared dividend)
* A payment date is also announced (date you should expect the dividend in your bank account).

Now to your question, you have to start processing your e-dividend form(s) now. Zenith's Registrar is Veritas Registrars.
Visit the site below to download the form. Fill it and submit to the registrar (by mail or taking it to their office) OR submit thru your bank.

Newbies in the house, pls plan your trades very well especially if you're not for long term.
Once dividend is declared, some investors dont wait till payment date before cashing in their profits (one oga mentioned it as well Xtyday).
Some sell and cash in their profits to depress the price and thereby re-entered at cheaper price to collect the dividends.
Some will cash in and wait for the dividend payment date to pass, then starts queuing to buy cheaper by monitoring the price movements.
My ogas have said it all, I hope you're learning, we're all learning. smiley

In BBM's voice: Plan your trade and trade your plan. grin

Good evening everyone please i need advise and information have ecobank ETI share 800units bought in 2008 I have not recieve any dividend till now please what will be the worth now? And I want to buy firstbank stock for N100,000 Please it's advisable to invest in there stock?
ETI's closed at N7.80....................800units multiply by 7.60 = N6,240 as at today.
You'll have to contact your broker to know/get the dividends declared so far..................if there's any. grin
As for First bank, maybe you wait and let the price-fall stabilize first. It's good mostly for price appreciation, even though they pay dividends too.
My ogas are in the house. They may have something different to say. grin

I am in right place to get good advice.
As at 2006, I had shares worth N300k plus but with the melt down in 2008, I lost interest completely. Early 2008, I met a stock broker that collected my original share certificates with the mind to generate CSCS account. I got the CSCS account number but had never been able to log on because I don't know the password. I don't know what shares have become now or how to track it. Please I need advice to move on.
2008 was such a long period nah.
* In addition to what the first poster said, type your name in the link below and check for your name/shares you have:

https://sec.gov.ng/non-mandated/

* Download the e-dividend forms for the shares, fill it and submit to the Registrar(s).
*You need to open account with a stockbroker in order to be able to transfer the shares therein and sell/hold.
* Contact the broker for further instruction on what to do.

I don't know why my own is different. They don't reply my mails. This is my first time experiencing this kind thing and is not funny. They refunded me back my money after the purchase. I have sent mails to Esther, Michael and co but no reply from them.
This is unlike them and very unusual.
Call their landline, someone will pick it up, tell her you want to speak with Michael or Canice.
