It should take more than this. Obviously this government has failed in information management. A situation where the populace is taken for granted is most reprehensible. Does the government have any regards for it's citizens? Pathetic. After today PMB will go on another No Show for God knows when.

It appears that everyone who has held a public position had severe emotional problem. Stealing like there was no tomorrow. This country can never be repaired. It's beyond redemption

God! This generation disgusts me. What is virement? They wont goggle it to know the meaning. Meanwhile they all claim they know more than the President and his economic team. Didn't you learn about Budgeting in O'Level Economics? The way some of you scream without understanding is very very disappointing. In the letter to the National Assembly, there is a table, a simple table, that anyone can read and understand, in it is clearly stated how much was budgeted for some MDAs, how much they have used so far, and how much can be vired from them so as not to have unspent amount in those MDAs whereas some are starved of fund. You can even also see from the table that after the virement, there still will be some huge amount left.
Please let us read and understand instead of rushing to critize. Reading through the comments from first page till here gives me the impression that the youths have lost it. No critical thinking. You quantitative reasoning. Just bark like mad dogs.

It's the American tradition that after the GOP convention, candidates popularity will sour a little in the opinion polls. But like some folks here have rightly pointed out, DTrump has so much odds stacked against him. Apart from sidelining the African-American with his outbursts, some notable world powers (Germany, UK, France) and off course the African continent seem to be supporting Hillary. However, Trump won the GOP ticket against all odds so may be it might still get going for him. But I expect big names in the Republican party in the coming days to give public endorsement of The Clintons against their own candidate.

Am fully in support of the anti corruption fight. However, some things don't add up with this news:
1. During BVN exercise, account holder is required to sign and verify biometric finger print.
2. How could Stella Idua's signature be used for her maid's bio data.
3. How is it possible that the account is still operational till now?
Anyway, SR has a way of digging out dirt in detail. We wait

Car Talk / Re: Here Are 8 Engines You Should Avoid by means(m): 10:48am On Jul 03, 2016
Interesting read. I had to pack up my VW Passat 30V V6. I was almost going mad with it. Each time I travel with it with my family anxiety almost consumes me until I get home. The entire engine and electrical works in that model is problematic. This thread is good to warn potential car buyers. Plus, minus, I think Toyota cars are still better with our roads and economy.
Politics / Re: GE To Invest $2bn In Nigerian Rail Projects —AMAECHI by means(m): 2:29pm On Jul 01, 2016
This indeed, if pursued with the vigor it deserves, is a heartwarming news. The government needs to key in into these blueprints to revamp the ailing economy. On the part of the ministers, it is not enough to talk, they also need to walk the talk. The long expectations of the masses on this administration is getting frustrating by the day.
Unless there is something contrary to what we read in the papers, the policy of getting foreign investors to bring in their expertise and capital to finance our infrastructure deficit as opposed to securing loan with stringent conditionalities is a welcome development. Transparency and Implementation is a major key in accomplishing this objective. Nigerians have been very patient with this government. The goodwill the Buhari government enjoys inspite of the hardship and policy summersault to me is unbelievable.
Politics / Re: Kachikwu Signs U.S.$80 Billion Oil And Gas Infrastructure Deals In China by means(m): 2:13pm On Jun 30, 2016
Ibe Kachikwu has always been a proven technocrat. He is one of the best ministers in this current government. With time, I know things will take shape especially in the Niger Delta region of which the minister himself hails from. It must be understood that these MOUs are investment driven that will benefit both the host and the investors. I think the Chinese are taking advantage of our cheap labour and untapped resources to come in. Nigeria cannot do it alone. We need to work with the bigger nations that have the wherewithal especially in terms of finance and technology. But it will benefit us through massive employment of skilled and unskilled labour and inflow of capital stock.
Good one Kachikwu.

Politics / Re: Construction Coys To Re-engage 17,500 Workers, Says Fashola by means(m): 12:12pm On May 25, 2016
This is one area this government needs to sit up. At least releasing funds to the existing projects that have long been abandoned by contractors due to change in government will ease up the employment situation thus further empowering the masses. Most of the road construction firms in the south south such as Julius Berger, CCC, Setraco et al have laid off a huge number of their staff. It is not enough to talk. Mr Minister should follow up and ensure that fund is released to these companies.

Politics / Construction Coys To Re-engage 17,500 Workers, Says Fashola by means(m): 11:38am On May 25, 2016
By Favour Nnabugwu The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola has said the Construction Companies are to re-engage 17,500 workers laid off the sector in the last three years over huge debts owed to them Fashola made this known on a television programme, Good Morning Nigeria, a Nigerian Television Authority programme in Abuja yesterday According to the Minister, “41 Construction Companies including some consultancy firms will be payed this quarter. The Ministry cannot accommodate all the contractors due to insufficient funds being expected from the Federal Government. The priority of the Ministry is to finish as many on-going road projects as possible.” On the amount allocated to the Ministry this quarter, Fashola said that N79bn is earmarked for road projects, N24bn for power while about N5bn for housing totaling N108bn. However, the highlight of major projects in the 2016 Budget for the ministries on road and bridges are over 40 projects spread across the geo-political zones, including: N13 billion for Dualization of Kano-Maiduguri road (Sections I-V); N8.7 billion Reconstruction and Pavement strengthening of sections of Benin-Sagamu expressway; N14.2 billion for the Construction of Oju/Loko Oweto Bridge to link Loko and Oweto with approach Roads and Oshegbudu-Oweto road; N13 billion for Concession of 2nd Niger Bridge and N6 billion for Dualisation of Odukpani-Itu-Ikot Ekpene Road in Cross River and Akwa Ibom States The others include: N4.8 billion for Rehabilitation of Ilorin-Jebba-Mokwa-Bokani road; N8.8 billion for Rehabilitation of Sokoto-Tabuwal Kotangora-Makira Road; N40 billion for Lagos – Ibadan road (Section I); N2.8 billion for completion of Gombe-Numan-Yola road phase II; N5 billion for the Rehabilitation of Apapa-Oshodi-Oworoshoki Road; N2.6 billion for Dualization of Kano-Katsina road phase I; N6 billion for Dualisation of Ibadan-Ilorin Section II; N5.5 billion for Rehabilitation of Enugu-Onitsha Road and N2 billion for Dualization of Sapele-Agbor-Ewu Road (Section I) Based on the funds available to the Ministries, he stated that the contractors have agreed to return to site while some have already started mobilizing to site in anticipation of payment. The Minister enumerated some of the road projects that will benefit from the re-mobilization to site to include Lagos- Ibadan Expressway, Loko-Oweto Bridge in Benue State, Kano-Maiduguri Expressway, 2nd Niger Bridge, Abuja-Lokoja Expressway, Ore-Shagamu Road, Enugu-Port Harcourt among others. On the issue of power generation, the Minister, noted that there are problems along the power sector, ranging from distribution, transmission, generation and gas supply, he opined that the existing gap of meter supply in the distribution segment of the power sector has created enormous opportunities for local production. The Minister stated that Distribution Companies have been asked to raise capital to buy and supply meters and replace the aged ones since they have increased their tariff or divest some of their shares in order to raise funds to finance the business. He said that DisCos can have strategic shares arrangement in exchange for goods like meters, cables etc with companies who make those products which they need to service their customers. On the housing sector, Fashola stated that the Ministry aims at having a policy that will standardize housing schemes, the materials to be used in those houses will be uniformed. The companies producing doors, windows and other accessories will produce in large quantities and they will be same throughout the nation, which invariably will lead to employment generation. He also noted that there is quest for what is affordable which will be to the reach of the poor and the low income earners which will help bridge the gap in the housing deficit. He stressed that in order to have a sustainable and affordable housing; there must be an agreement, a common purpose and parameters as well as those who are qualified to occupy those houses. He added that for Nigerians to have a national housing policy that will be acceptable, considerations must also be placed on both religion and cultural differences. The Minister reiterated the need for government to buy the idea of using local raw materials as against the imported ones, adding that it will not only boost the economy but will be an avenue to generate employment for Nigerian youths as well as encouraging the cottage industries and reduce capital flight of foreign exchange
