Sir Roger Moore KBE, who starred as James Bond in seven “007” movies has died in Switzerland after a “short but brave battle with cancer”.

His Children announced his death via Twitter. He died at the age of 89.

“With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated,” the tweet read.

He was appointed a UNICEF goodwill ambassador in 1991.

A Nigerian pastor was reportedly shot to dead in his apartment complex near 10th Street and I-465 in Indianapolis, US over the weekend.

The pastor who has been identified as Oluwadayomisi Epenusi, a 66-year-old, had just relocated to the US from Nigeria where he worked as a pastor.
Authorities in Indianapolis are currently on a manhunt for the killer to bring his assailants to justice.

Describing the sad event, his neighbor who identified herself as Kristina Teagu, said she heard multiple gunshots from his apartment.

‘I heard about 15 gunshots. It was nuts,’ said the neighbour. Teague said she immediately called 911. However, before the arrival of the police, a neighbor had driven him to the hospital where he died.

Another neighbor identified as Moshood Kafaru, also said attempts were made by his roommate to ascertain fact when he was being rushed to the hospital but he couldn’t say a word.

‘The roommate said when he was on the way he asked him what happened and why he got shot, but the man couldn’t say anything because he was still in pain.’

Kafaru described Epenusi as a nice person who never bothered anyone in the neighborhood

“He was just a nice person who would go to work and come home and go to church. He didn’t talk to nobody. He never bothered nobody.’

According to Kafaru, he believes the violence started as a robbery.

‘He was holding a purse. He refused to let it go. They thought he had money in the purse, but he didn’t want to let it go.’

According to Fox News, a large group of Nigerians live in the apartment complex and those that knew Epenusi say he had been working hard to help his kids to move to the United States.

‘They just got a visa. That is why he was working so hard, so his family can come over here,’ said Kafaru, ‘He was just an innocent man and it just upsets me that he’s gone just like that.”

‘It’s really sad because he was here sending money to his family,” said Teague.

However, Police have asked people with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.

Arsenal have opened talks with KAS Eupen for in-demand striker Henry Onyekuru, sources close to the player have told vERGE24.c om

Onyekuru is being tracked by a number of clubs across Europe, including several Premier League clubs after catching the eye in Belgium for Eupen this season.

The 19-year-old has scored 24 goals this season and claimed nine assists, including six goals in his last four games to earmark him as one of the more exciting young talents in Europe.

The likes of Everton, Southampton West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace have all shown an interest in Onyekuru, but Arsenal are hoping to steal a march on their Premier League rivals for the skilful attacker by opening talks with KAS Eupen over a possible deal for the teenager.

Onyekuru has a £6.8 million release clause in his contract and Arsenal are considering meeting the clause to enable landing the African starlet.

Onyekuru’s agents, Mercato Sports, confirmed to ESPN FC that a number of clubs have been chasing the forward and that they will hold talks with interested parties to see what is the best option for him.

“There have been a lot of clubs from all over Europe wanting to sign Henry and we will speak to them as we have to make sure we make the right decision for him and his career,” a Mercato Sports representative said.

Angel Gomes became the first player from since 2000 to appear in a Premier League game when he became Manchester United’s youngest debutant in more than half a century against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Gomes replaced Wayne Rooney in the 88th minute of the 2-0 win at Old Trafford to make his first senior appearance at just 16 years and 263 days old.

He is the first 16-year-old to play for United since Norman Whiteside in 1982 and the club’s youngest debutant since David Gaskell in 1956 — 61 years ago. Duncan Edwards was 16 years and 185 days when he made his debut in 1953.

Gomes, born on Aug. 31, 2000, is also the first United player in any competition to be born this millennium.

“Obviously, it’s a dream come true,” Gomes told MUTV. “I’ve been here since the age of six, working my way up and it’s what everyone dreams about. I just want to thank the manager for putting me on the bench and playing me today, and all the staff back at the club and everyone who has helped me. I’m from Manchester, Salford and it’s literally down the road. It’s just unbelievable.

“I saw Eric Bailly go down and we’d already made two subs. I didn’t know and Matty Willock was told to warm up so I was a bit curious. The boss told me to warm up and I was out there about 25 minutes with Daley Blind and then I heard my name.”

Gomes already received United’s youth team player of the year for this season.

“It happened so quickly really, from Thursday to Sunday, training on Friday and making an impression in Saturday’s training before being named on the bench today and coming on.

“It was a dream coming on and it’s happened so quickly. I don’t know what the future plans are for next season but I just want to continue playing, whether it’s in the Under-18s or Under-23s, I just want to stay with the good habits and carry on pushing really. Who knows, I’m not sure what the plans are for next season.”

Nigeria forward Ahmed Musa will open a sports complex estimated to be worth about N500 million in Kano next month.

The facility, which has two five-a-side pitches, a gymnasium, lounge, restaurant and a large multipurpose events hall, will be officially opened to the public on June 15

“People like football in Kano and they pay money to train in different places so I thought it would be good to have a standard place where all these people could have a good place to train, play football and relax too,” Musa told VERGE24.com .

“They like playing in the night too so this will be a good comfortable place to play football under floodlights and also to rest,” he said.

Musa, who began his professional football career with hometown club Kano Pillars, remains a favourite among the fans in the ancient city.

Jean-Michel Basquiat’s powerful 1982 painting of a skull was sold for $110.5 million at Sotheby. The painting has become the sixth most expensive work ever sold at auction, according to The New York Times.

“He’s now in the same league as Francis Bacon and Pablo Picasso,” said the dealer Jeffrey Deitch, an expert on Basquiat.

The sale of the painting, “Untitled,” made for a thrilling moment at Sotheby’s postwar and contemporary auction as at least four bidders on the phones and in the room sailed past the $60 million level at which the work forged from oil stick and spray paint had been guaranteed to sell by a third party.

Soon after the sustained applause had subsided, Japanese billionaire, founder of Japan large online mall, Zozotown, Yusaku Maezawa revealed himself to be the buyer through a post on his Instagram.

“I am happy to announce that I just won this masterpiece,” he said in the post.

“When I first encountered this painting, I was struck with so much excitement and gratitude for my love of art. I want to share that experience with as many people as possible.”

Four Itsekiri leaders and some officials of Elcrest, an indigenous firm operating in the Niger Delta region, have been abducted by suspected militants.

Their abduction was confirmed on Friday, May 19, by the Delta police command.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the public relations officer of the police command, Mr Andrew Aniamaka, as saying: “The police backed by the military are on the trail of the hoodlums.”

The report quoted Maj Abubakar Abdullahi, coordinator of the Joint Media Campaign Centre of Operations Delta Safe (OPDS), as saying that his team was on top of the situation.

VERGE24.com learnt that the victims were kidnapped in a community in Benin River in Warri North local government area at 5 pm, on Tuesday, May 16.

The report quoted a source as disclosing that the victims were returning to Warri from Ureju community when they were abducted.

“The community leaders had gone to show the officials of Elcrest, a location for the firm’s proposed free medical outreach.

“The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N36 million from the company and also requesting their inclusion in the company’s payroll,” the reportedly source said.

Chelsea have won the Premier League title after defeating West Bromwich Albion 1-0 at the Hawthorns.

A late goal from substitute Michy Batshuayi gave the Blues three points, which mean they hold an unassailable 10-point advantage over Tottenham.

It is the sixth time that the Stamford Bridge side have won England’s top flight and the fourth time since 2004-05 that they have claimed the Premier League title.

Their campaign has been one of virtual unabated excellence since a sticky period in September, when they lost successive matches against Liverpool and Arsenal saw them drop as far as eighth.

Manager Antonio Conte, who arrived in the summer to guide the team after a disappointing 2015-16 season, thereafter altered his side to play with three at the back, and that proved the catalyst for a 13-match winning streak that proved to be the decisive run as they claimed the crown.

The Blues subsequently lost London derbies against Spurs and Crystal Palace, while they also went down against a Manchester United side led by Jose Mourinho, sacked 18 months earlier as they made a woeful start to their title defence.

Ironically, though, Conte’s men seemed to be aided by their lack of European football, as it left their squad free to focus on domestic matters as their chief rivals faltered.

Indeed, Chelsea can yet complete a league and cup double as they face Arsenal on May 27 at Wembley in the FA Cup final.

Conte’s men have been recognised individually as well as collectively, meanwhile. Summer signing N’Golo Kante won the PFA Player of the Year award and also claimed the Football Writer’s prize, with Eden Hazard finishing as runner-up in both categories.

Diego Costa has been their top scorer in the Premier League this season, having netted 20 goals for the campaign to date, just four shy of the division’s leading marksman, Romelu Lukaku.

The long-term aim for Conte must be to maintain the momentum created by this success and ensure that his squad does not fade in the same manner that Mourinho’s did previously.

Chelsea fans can also look forward to European nights once more, with the Champions League set to return next season.

Blackface last month accused 2face and his manager of stealing a song, Let Somebody Love You, which he claimed he wrote when he was still in the same musical group with 2face.

In the letter dated May 5th, 2face and his manager are demanding for

1. A general unreserved apology in writing for all the defamatory statements made made and/or published by you in the past;

2. Specific written apologies for all the defamatory statements by which by which you have accused our clients of (a) song theft (b) wishing you dead so as to take your property, (c) corruption (d) music royalties fraud and (e) career sabotage ; and

3. That you refarin from further making any false or defamatory statement about our clients.
The letter stated that if he fails to apologise publicly within 7 days of receiving their letter, they would seek legal redress.

Emmanuel Macron, a centrist, has won the French presidential election, following a hard-fought battle with far-right candidate Marine Le Pen, according to French polling agencies.

On Sunday, voters across France flooded to the ballot box to choose a new president in an unusually tense and important election that puts Europe in the balance as pro-business independent Emmanuel Macron and far-right populist Marine Le Pen will become the country’s next leader.

The polls opened in mainland France at 8 a.m. local time under the watch of 50,000 security forces guarding against possible extremist attacks. Polling agency projections and initial official results are expected as soon as the final stations close at 8 p.m.

Voter turnout in the runoff election is above 65 percent in late afternoon, a sharp drop of more than 6 percent compared to the last presidential vote. The Interior Ministry announced the turnout had reached 65.3 percent, compared to 71.96 percent in the second round of presidential voting in 2012.

With voting in France’s presidential election still under way, Swiss and Belgian news organizations are reporting election-day polls suggesting that voters are backing Macron by a strong margin over far-right candidate Marine Le Pen.

The race has been unpredictable and it is too early to say who is winning the election, as millions of votes have yet to be cast.

Eliud Kipchoge from Kenya narrowly missed his two-hour attempt but in the process ran the fastest marathon ever in 2 hours, 24 seconds at Nike’s Breaking2 event in Italy on Saturday.

The reigning Olympic champion competed with Ethiopia’s Lelisa Desisa and Eritrea’s Zersenay Tadese at the Formula One track in Monza – an event was designed by Nike to break through the two-hour barrier.

Despite Kipchoge’s phenomenal achievement, fellow countryman Dennis Kimetto’s world record of 2hours 2 minutes and 57 seconds set in 2014 will continue to stand due to the pace-setting arrangement at the unofficial event.

The Oyo State Police Command on Friday paraded one Pastor Isaiah, 55, over unlawful possession of a human head, buffalo horn as well as gunpowder and charms.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the police also paraded 18 suspects arrested for alleged armed robbery, stealing and cultism.

The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude, told newsmen in Ibadan that the pastor, said to be the founder of Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Idapomimo Zion, Alagbado, Lagos, was arrested by operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol during a “stop and search’’ operation.

Odude said that the pastor was arrested at about 10:30 pm on May 4 on his way to another branch of the church at Imini in Afijo Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The suspect, on his part, told newsmen that he got the human head during a demolition exercise in Alagbado, Lagos.
