President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated two of Nigeria’s biggest artistes, WizKid and Davido, for winning the Best International Act and Best African Act respectively at the recently held Music of Black Origin, MOBO, awards 2017.

President Buhari said both artistes have shown that Nigeria is rich in talent, adding that they have brought pride to the country through their songs and hard work.

The President’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement signed and sent to VERGE34 by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

The statement Read;

“President Buhari joins the teeming fans of the artistes in Nigeria and all over the world in celebrating the highly deserved and meritorious recognition, which saw WizKid winning “International Best Artiste’’ award, while Davido picked the “Best African Act”.
President Buhari also called on the upwardly mobile artistes to be cautious and mindful of likely distractions to their careers, urging WizKid and Davido to serve as ambassadors of the country and role models to up and coming musicians.

Former AC Milan and Manchester City forward Robinho has been sentenced to nine years in prison for a group sexual assault, according to Italian state news agency ANSA.

The ex Brazilian international was convicted for being one of six people involved in the assault of a 22-year-old woman at a Milanese nightclub on January 22, 2013.

Robinho played for Milan between 2010 and 2015. He is currently with Atletico Mineiro and made his last appearance for the national team against Colombia in January.

However, Robinho might not spend any time behind bars given that he is currently in his home country.

According to local legislation no Brazilian citizen can be extradited to another country under request to face criminal charges, although that will not apply should he leave his home nation and is detained elsewhere.

Robinho's current club, Atletico Mineiro, has declined to comment on the sentence, stating they would only speak through the team's lawyers if necessary.

Popular Jamaican superstar, Desmond John Ballentine, better known as Ninjaman, and sometimes as Don Gorgon, 51, has been convicted of murder and could be handed a life in imprisonment.

The Home Circuit Court in Kingston on Monday convicted Ninjaman and two co-accused for murder after they were found guilty of the 2009 murder of Ricardo Johnson, also known as Ricky Trooper.

As he was led away along with his co-accused, Ninjaman said;

“A suh it go man,”

“Don’t worry yuhself, Jamaica, I’ll be back,”

NinjaMan was found guilty of murder and shooting with intent, while his son, Janiel Ballentyne and Dennis Clayton, were convicted of murder after a witness named only as “Witness A” testified against them.

The long legal battle stated back in 2009 and had a total of 17 missed trial dates and 23 mentioned dates.

Ninjaman, his son Janiel Ballentyne and a co-accused Dennis Clayton will be sentenced on December 15. It is expected that they trio will get life imprisonment.

One of the major highlights in the encounter between Nigeria vs Argentina was the face-off between Manchester City defender, Nicolas Otamendi with his former teammate Kelechi Iheanacho in Russia on Tuesday.

Otamendi shocked the world of football after he reacted was over the top by angrily shoving Iheanacho aside when the Nigerian forward tried to apologise after accidentally elbowing the Argentine in the face at the course of an aerial duel in the early stages of the game. PCHN has shared a video on facebook showing a woman whom is a resident of Igbogbo in Ikorodu, threatening to harm one of their staff as he attempts to disconnect her power supply over non payment of her electricity bill.

A statement released by Ikeja Electricity Plc on facebook read;

In the course of carrying out their lawful duties, our staff are often assaulted by ‘consumers’ who attempt to prevent them from performing their responsibilities.

President Buhari’s administration has proposed to spend N4.86bn in 2018 on maintenance of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The budgeted amount for the annual routine maintenance of the villa in the 2017 budget represents a decline of about N90m. The sum of N3.91bn was allocated for the routine maintenance In the 2016 budget by the Federal Government.

In 2017, the state house had a budget of N11.02bm made up of N6.52bn for capital project while recurrent expenditure was estimated at N4.49bn. The State House has a total capital allocation of N7.1bn while recurrent expenditure was estimated at N4.43bn

The wife of the Zimbabwean dictator, Grace Mugabe has fled the country for Namibia following the military take over in the country.

Zimbabwean media has claimed that Robert Mugabe is under house arrest in Harare, while some claims he is dead after the Zimbabwean military hijacked power last night.

The Military in a statement read on live Tv by Major General Gen Sibusiso Moyo said that Mr. Mugabe and his family are “safe and sound and their security is guaranteed”.

Confirming Grace Mugabe’s escape, an MP from the main opposition party, Movement for Democratic Change, Eddie Cross claimed that the First Lady was now in Namibia.

Similarly, a representative for the ruling Zanu-PF party also affirmed that the first lady is no longer in Zimbabwe.

Governor, Nyesom Wike’s Motorcade was attacked by Rotimi Amaechi and his people in the state capital, Port Harcourt.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Saturday escaped assassination as Special Anti-robbery Squad Operatives and soldiers of the Nigerian Army in the motorcade of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi attacked his convoy.

The governor who was on project inspection was attacked at Nwanja Junction on Trans-Amadi Road.

The SARs Personnel and Soldiers in the Minister’s convoy hit down the Governor’s Escort Rider and attacked the policemen in the pilot car.

Mr Debewari , Aide -De- Camp, to the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, supervised the attack, which included damage of cameras held by journalists .

Also part of the attack, was the Commander of Rivers SARS, Mr Akin Fakorede who received the Minister of Transportation at the Port Harcourt International Airport and accompanied on his trip.

After the attack, the Rivers State Governor continued with his inspection of Projects.

Governor Wike was not harmed, despite the attack.

The Minister of Transportation had over 50 SARS Personnel , Soldiers and Mobile Policemen in his motorcade.

Jelani Minaj the brother to American rapper, Nicki Minaj has been found guilty of raping his own stepdaughter.

The verdict came in on Thursday morning and found Jelani guilty of predatory sexual assault against a child and also endangering the child’s welfare. He is expected to receive his sentencing on December 14 and could get up to 25 years in jail.

Amid the long court hearing at Long Island, Nicki Minaj did not testify at the hearing.
